Cache found safe and sound

11-May-24
Went for a walk with the wife and son once the weather cleared up and turned out to be a nice day. Grabbed a few caches in the bunyip state park only accessible by walking. Used to drive these tracks many years ago. Cache found quickly and lots in the area have had fresh log books.Beware of bullants when looking for this cache. Got bitten by one.TFTC.

A big days walk scooping up whatever caches i can get round, possibly over-ambitious! Always prefer these remote caches so appreciate everyone's efforts to get them out in the wilds. TFTC.Number 2 for the day, bit of a climb to get here, took a while to find it but got it in the end.

Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".

So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.

**Thanks to Cache Guardians for this adventure, looking forward to many more.**

*Cache find # 14001.*

Today I headed out with biggles1024 to find a few caches and as well a bit of maintenance along the way.
We headed out from Mortimore's reserve on our bikes, after passing through the Junction, we continued our way up along the track, well it is called High Ground for a reason, this time when we arrived at GZ, we were able to make a quick find.

**Thanks to Cache Guardians for placing this cache.**

**Find #5005**
**Traditional Find #3130**

Steve and I completed some cache maintenance lower down on this hill and then proceeded here to this cache. This was the final member of the series for me and it was an easy find in a logical place.

**Thank-you to Cache Guardians for placing this geocache**

I was back in Bunyip state park for the second day in a row with Tiz13 working on Mortimers Adventure, once we had gathered some more information we decided to tackle a few other caches in the area, Tiz had unfinished business with a Scotsman and this cache was on route. It was a pleasant walk to GZ where the cache was easier located in the obvious location.

Thanks Cache Guardians for the cache.

Lovely area to walk in, even on a cool day, bit of effort required to get up the hill though! Log is a little damp but surviving, TNLNSL TFTC

So I had high hopes and high expectations with this cache I was thoroughly enjoying my walk saying hello to the horses and their riders. GPS slightly off but hint good, cache located and signed. Log damp but okay to sign.

Just an awesome place, i chose this place as my first solo camp trip and it has not disappointed! :3 ive seen so much in just one day, a lyrebird and a goanna run up a tree was the highlights for me, we will talk about the snakes another time

Thanks for bringing me up this way!

One of a couple of caches found on an otherwise non-caching focused walk (I must have walked straight past another cache or two in this series. Oh well. Next time). It's beautiful here and I'll be back.

Found once I remembered to turn on my geocaching app and doubled-back for a little way. Worth it. An easy find. Moist but in good shape.

Doing the Tree Fern track today. This was right on the track. Everything was a little damp after recent rain - container sitting in a wet place. Log quite wet and I didn't have time to dry it out, but I did put it back in a new ziplock bag, which should help to keep the water out. Nice area.

A lovely afternoon walk picking up some dirtbag caches and a detour by this one. This is certainly a nice area to explore and a very peaceful one.

This was a lovely walk which we took a slight detour to pickup. Came in to collect some dgs caches and decided to get this at the same time

Found Jan 31st with HUNTER
After a frantic hustle for a FTF up the frog and toad (which I failed at lol)
I met up with hunter AT that cache and we then decided to wander down to grab this one and then he taxied me back to my car lol.
Was lovely to meet ‘The hound’

Found before grabbing a nearby FTF. Not sure why I left this cache so long to go and find. Love this area.

After meeting Toolman at the cache higher along this track, we both strolled down to find this cache together. This was the first time I had ever cached with another team, and was a different experience, having a great chat while enjoying this lovely environment.
Toolman picked the hiding location from a distance and after my the gps decided where to look, I quickly found the cache, exactly where Toolman predicted.
Thanks for the cache hi pressure

Heading out with Mrs Bear to continue her OXFAM training we decided to venture the other side of our usual haunts
Surprising how different it is and very pretty

Despite it being 40’C it was still a nice stroll with the shade and a breeze taking the sting out of the heat
Cache is in good order
Thanx for the Adventure

02-Jan-18
Found easily as it was just laying on the ground out in the open beside the track. So, after signing the logbook, I read the hint and replaced the cache to its rightful spot. Other than that, the cache is in good condition. TFTC

11-Jun-17
A map of the paths may have helped. I was most concerned when the path veered away from the next cache. I may have bush bashed a bit to get up closed and personal to the massive moss covered rocks, but really I wasn't too sure which way the path went. Eventually I found my way to the 'road' and followed it here. TFTC - it was quite exposed so I threw a bit of extra cover on top. It appears the log was signed by a non-destructive muggle, how rare!

The northward march to this cache from *The Junction* involved a gentle incline and for some reason I decided to walk it as briskly as I could manage. I like a brisk walk, I guess. The sun was quite fierce at this stage. At least by the standards of a 'rainy' spring day, so I was actually getting surprisingly warm despite that fact that I was already wearing shorts (the kind that I only really wear in a quiet places while trying to keep cool). I departed from the track for 80m when close to GZ rather than continuing to the junction to the north. The leech I had been nurturing on my shin was quite plump now and he/she was tickled by foliage on the way through. The cache was easily found in decent condition and I headed back southwards. I had an unexpected encounter with a man and [presumed] daughter on the way out. They gave me a funny look, silently. Maybe it was because of the unstylish shorts or my now massive deep red leech-y companion. I should have asked, clearly. Thanks hi pressure and Cache Guardians!

07-Sep-16
This was the last in the series and my last for the day. After the quick find, I decided to return via a different route. It all went well until I found that the track that I needed to return me to the picnic ground didn't really exist. I found the no cyclists signs deeply embedded in the undergrowth, but no track visible beyond. So my walk ended up being somewhat longer than planned - but still enjoyable.

Thanks to hi pressure for the cache and the extended walk.

Out and about for a stroll in the bush and hopefully grab a couple of caches.
Thanks hi pressure FTC. At least the walk back is all downhill, a great place for a
few more up here.

04-Feb-16
3/3 hi_pressure caches for the day. Thank you.
After collecting some unlove on the nearby 4X2X2-The Junction cache i decided to continue up Windy Point track to see if I could find this one.

This was a good walk down/up a track I have done some 4x4 ing on years ago. The cache was found where my GPS said. The log book was slightly damp but I think it will be fine, I removed the soggy business cards and trinkets from the cache.
I guess you probably wont ever read this but thanks hi_pressure for getting me back to my roots, a walk in the bush is good for my soul. I hope this cache continues and I'll keep an eye on it incase maintenance is required in the future.

Ahhh the things you find when caching!! Returning to my car after doing this and the other cache up Link road I came across a middle aged couple having a nooky in the car park.. not in their car.. in the car park!!!!!!!!!!..anyway trying not to notice and find the comfort of my own car so I could leave quickly, I realised that I recognised one of them, a parent from my daughters kinder last year and I'm fairly sure that isn't her partner [insert shocked face here] Who knows perhaps circumstances in her life have changed, who am I to judge? Can't help to wonder! Anyway I quickly got out of there, I don't want to know anymore!

After completing the Button Grass Nature Walk, we parked at Mortimer Picnic Ground to hike the recommended 10 km circuit trail. Found this one along the way. It took us quite some time (despite the hint) to find the box, but it was in the obvious spot after all.

This one was a good quick find.

Been up here a few times now, but never had a look for GC's.

It's an awesome walk if anyone is keen, head up Triangle first and follow any path you'd like.
We done windy point via William Wallace track today done the loop and back down.
Left an SES sticker.

Thanks!!

2nd of two finds today on out 15KM+ walk. The log book is a bit damp.

Thanks!

Walked up to the High Ground from The Junction. Was a lovely day to be walking, sunny but not too hot, encountered another echidna on the trail as I plodded up the hill. The Parks service have obviously been putting some effort into maintaining these trails as they were all in very good condition. The cache hide was again fairly obvious to spot, but I nearly missed the cache since it was burred so deeply in detritus, but I managed to fish it out, clean it off and sign the log.

On the way back to the car I took the 'Fern Gully' walking only track and it was a wonderful and scenic walk down the hill (but I'd not want to try and come up it, or walk it when it was wet). Thanks for the cache and bringing me to such a nice spot.

Found with my family on a rainy Mother's Day. Beautiful walk even so. GZ located on a walking track that is currently closed while damage caused by torrential rain in Feb 2011 is repaired. It's located just a short distance from the track closure though, and there is no damage to the short section of track from the track junction (where the track is closed) to GZ. TNLN TFTC

After completing the junction we continued on to higher ground, the climb a little steeper, the scenery still amazing.

After a sharp dog leg, the cache was soon in hand.

We signed the log and continued on.

12.49pm

Good friday, no work today for me, spent the morning at home cleaning and the afternoon caching.

Am now glad I am out caching as the sun is now out and warm on my wet back after the deluge at the previous cache. Another one I had attempted before. This time, with the knowledge of the previous one, found it straight away.

Thanks again to Hi Pressure for the cache. TNLN

Another cache I left out on a recent trip. It was a lovely walk up and back on Ferntree track, serenaded both ways by a lyrebird doing some great impressions, including a Kookaburra.

At GZ it took a while to find the cache and in the end it had been buried rather deeply and uncecessarily in the obvious hiding spot. No wonder ahomburg missed it.

21-Jan-11
This was such an enjoyable walk to find the Cache. Not too hard on the legs, not too long nor too short. You can find anothers in the series on the way (from either direction). The Forest was a treat of sights and sounds and nary another human in sight except Dylan 7a who found the cache with me (his eyesight is considerably better). Such an enjoyable series thanks to 'hi pressure'. Glad not to be able to do these as drive bys and it would spoil the intent! TNLN.

Searched for 30 or 40 minutes but could not find this one. Would have liked to get all 4 in the series.

Thanks for the cache anyway.

13-Feb-10
We found this cache at 4:25pm as the 14th of 18 on our Olinda to Gembrook. After finding the junction, we followed back along Williams Road which almost runs parallel to Link Rd but has a gentle incline the further you go. The walk was about 1,000m from the previous cache and once found, we followed the freshly marked linking walking track down via the gully to Link Road the back to the car, perhaps another 600m or so in total. A beautiful walk which many other finders will unfortunately not get to enjoy if these two caches revert to drive-bys. Their loss. Our 121st 3TF. Thanks from D & S B-A.

04-Feb-10
Congratulations to either Team Crackers or Mr Coffee or a joint FTF

03-Feb-10
Our final cache in the series for the day and although we have experienced hot weather, many kilometres, up and down hills, snakes, lizards, March flies, Spiders, Leeches, Killer echidna's, Flying Kangaroo's, Pot holes and wrong search areas it has been a fun day we will not forget nor probably recover.

From the last junction cache we set off uphill but it was a easy track that just...well just went upwards. Eventually we arrived at the cache GZ and got down to the task of finding the cache. Again it was Team Crackers who clocked up another FTF with finding the cache in a spot I am sure we had checked earlier at the start.
The cache was logged and the best thing after replacing the cache was it was all DOOWWNN hill back to the car and straight to a pub or bottleshop.

Many thanks to Hi Pressure for this cache and the series, and thank you to Team Crackers for the caching company, a fun day.
Regards Mr.Coffee and the "and we thought the 4x was an option for a drive by, Oh how you tricked us" Coffee Clan.

03-Feb-10
This was our last cache in the series, we think we may have done it a different way than the owner but we got there. As Mr Coffee said in his log for 4X2X2-The Junction this cache would have had far more appeal at the moment if it had a name like "in the creek" or "out back of the pub".
The march flies made sure we kept moving and the thought of a down hill walk home also helped but then again walking in such a nice area is never really an effort. Nearing GZ, again the GPSr was pointing a good distance into the bush, hoping it was wrong, we continued a bit further and found a track leading back in the right direction. Once at GZ we both went for the most obvious looking spot but came up empty handed. We again expanded out search with no luck and the GPSr was insisting it was back where we started. Another look uncovered the cache and neither of us know how we missed it the first time.
Thanks hi pressure for the series, I take my hat off to you for all the effort you went through to get the 4x4 series on foot. Thanks also to Mr Coffee for the company and laughs that helped to make it a great days caching.
