Logs

12-Dec-10
A quick "archiving road trip" down the Great Ocean Road this morning to collect the container. Huge surf and quiet roads.

The idea was for the series cute while it lasted, but to avoid any dangerous driving incidents by people trying the series in reverse order, this series has been archived.

06-Dec-10
I have decided that the placement of these guard-rail caches along this narrow, curvy road is too dangerous.

Despite of my clear warnings on the cache page, I am concerned by logs from cachers that still attempt them from the "wrong" direction (i.e. travelling from Apollo Bay towards Torquay), which entails cutting across traffic, sometimes on blind corners. While I cannot control how people choose to drive, I do not want to be responsible for a fatality as the roads get busy over Summer.

Collection and Archiving of this cache is planned within the next month.

28-Nov-10
Suscoe found the excuse today to make the trip down here after our last unfulfilled visit.
We had two other Mr Emu challenges to do so it seemed the right thing to do.
Cache was soon in hand and it was nice to be first to sign a new log.
TNLN
Thanks to Mr Emu for the quick replacement work . The containers are really great.

found while down at lorne on schoolies on the way to lorne after some shopping!

21-Nov-10
A new camouflaged cache container, log book, pen and themed quote(!) are now in place where the old one used to be. There are even a couple of little swaps. Happy hunting!

19-Nov-10
Nice Location. TFTC

17-Nov-10
The coordinates are pretty accurate, and the caches should all be easy to find, so I suspect this one has gone walkabout. With the warmer weather, I now have the possibility of painting-up a replacement (in the appropriate camouflage).

I hope to replace this cache within the next few weeks.

11-Nov-10
This is sort of embarrassing; I DNFed one of the LGC's somewhere around here and think it might have been this one but can't be certain my memory is correct! In my excitement to get to the next cache I just marked whichever one it was as 'Found' rather than 'Did Not Find' on my GPSr; oops! I was trying to be sensitive to my reluctant spouse (and sensitive to the fact that if I took too long at caches the likelihood that he'd let me stop at others would be reduced!) so when I couldn't find it after a brief look headed on.

Thank you for the cache!

05-Nov-10
Suscoe's only miss today, completed all the other LGCs but this one eluded us!
Not sure what happened but i am sticking with Cache Creep, Mrs Suscoe just thinks I had a man's look!
Coudn't see it anywhere!
Oh well we will just have to force ourselves to come back down here again soon, a shocking thought but we will have to put up with the beautiful views and wonderful scenery.
Thank you Mr Emu.,

Our 900th find. We have driven past here hundreds of times but never stopped. Being the first day of winter and a weekday reduced the muggle factor and made retrieval easy. We left a moose, took nil, SL TFTC

I did this series (Except the disabled #12) in reverse order today on the way back from the Earthcaches near Port Cambell.
I had a ball with this series and by no way are any of these 'Lame'.
The scenery is fantastic. The cache locations are superb and the containers are well loved and maintained.
All in all a great series of caches on a 'Great' stretch of road.
Well done.
Took the TB to move it on.

LGC #3 Found with Schatzuche and The Hunta on our way home from the Mega Event in Wagga, just a slight detour back to Adelaide but well worth the trip, great scenes and even better caches Thanks Mr Emu for all the work you have put in along this beautiful peace of coast line and this brilliant series, the detour was worth this alone. Given the effort you have put in we decided to add a little of our own. Please enjoy the photos we took using your cameras along the way.

#47 for us

A nice easy find on our way back from claiming a FTF on "Don't get Hooked" in Lorne. Very little traffic around at 8:30pm on Easter Monday night. TFTC. TN, left a marble.

This is a great idea for a series of caches.

I parked here many many times when fishing on the rocks below Cinema Point. It's a long walk down the rocks from here !

Coin drop: Cachepillar Geocoin.

I retrieved this geocoin from one of my caches where prescribed environmental burning is about to get underway. Not sure when I'll get out again, so better to see the coin resume it's journey without delay.

Another beautiful stop on our way back home to Melbourne.

26-Feb-10

This was the third LGC cache today at 11.03 with the weather perfect and the sea like a mildpond and the temperature warming up. This one was hidden in a different way but the co-ords were spot on as I would expect.

Thanks Mr Emu a great series NI-NO.

13-Feb-10
Found while out with Acts2YouthGroup on a good weather day for caching. I have been down here a few times over the last few decades but never stopped at this spot, like many on this trip. There was a Queensland smoker who looked like he might hamper us but he was soon back in his car and on his way, making for an easy find. Thanks Mr Emu.

10-Feb-10
Found the cache today at 10.45am with beanie The third of the LGC caches
Another great view from here Signed the log

And Thanks Mr Emu for the cache

07-Feb-10
We again had to pass this one and find a place to do a U turn before we could park safely. Once done we were again very impressed with the views, especially the lighthouse on the next point, it looked very regal in the afternoon sun. The van full of muggles left us after only a few minutes and we were off to another nice easy find. We also started to think that at this time of afternoon we had a chance of getting a FTF on the whole series.
Our thanks again Mr Emu for the spectacular views
