Out n about past two weeks working in the region. I remember that on a previous trip there was a random geocache here. This time I was able to go and grab it yah!. Thank you for hiding it here. Loved the view. Cant say that I loved the road out though. Cheers n happy caching.

169kmm of ordinary dirt roads to this fantastic location. Not every geocacher makes it out here for the view to forever. We counted fifty nine car wrecks between Daly River and the cache turn off. One of the car wrecks was very fresh. Almost a keeper. If you like jeeps. I guess that is fifty nine geocacher DNFs that should have beeen loggged.Spotted four crocs in the Daly river. The estruries in view north of the cache look like five metre saltie domain. Thanks for an awesome cache. This is what geocaching is about. Finding brilliant locations like this. Some times you have to travel a road less travelled. Freddo and e.gregory1 were heading up the middle of Australia following Stuart's well trodden route. We were travelling in air conditoned comfort and style. No stale food. No camels to carry water. We were leaving the cold winter for the northern season.Today was the day to find this cache. Today is the eight day of Augustus Caesar's Month in the wonderful year of twenty twenty four. We found your cache container and added some inky stuff to the paper sheet or note pad you have supplied for a log book or scroll. The cache container and log book or scroll were in good condition. It was so hot. No wind today. With the log signed and the cache replaced it was time to leave. Onwards to the next cache. Woot, that is not to far.I would like to show my respect and acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land, and their continuing connection to it. I wish to pay my respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past, present and emerging.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We do apologise for the generic logs. Thanks to all the cache owner for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke fr den Cache. Gracias por el cach. Found on a trip from Adelaide to the top end with Freddo for a few weeks. We headed out here after camping near Surprise Falls last night. A long drive, but worth it for the fantastic view over the estuaries and wetlands out to the coast. The cache was quickly found in good condition before enjoying some lunch and a coffee. Thanks JWstorming for the cache. A favourite point for the great location.

TFTC,Stayed at Daly River Inn last night so that an early start could be made. Lucky to find the road in good condition. As advised, stayed away from local communities and headed back to get the van and do more caching.Since there are no active caches on the Tiwi Islands, I join the group who have cached in every LGA within the Northern Territory. What a spot, added a favourite and visited trackables.

Stayed overnight at Daly River, for an early start driver took a bit over 2 hours. Arrived to find a group having morning tea, I asked for cuppaccino, they said not today. Saw well over 50 wrecked cars on the side of the road on the drive. Stamped log and replaced. Thanks to CO

A caching trip from Canberra, ACT to Cape York, Qld and then around the gulf to East Arnhem Land, NT.Now with a detour to Thursday Island, Mabuiag Island, Mornington Island and finally along the Savannah Way through Hells Gate, then Nhulunbuy and Wadeye.TFTC. Its a long way out here but the road wasn't too bad for most of it. Had a few things jumping into the front seat from the back as you hit a pothole or break very quickly.Missed the turn. For future finders it's about the 357th wreck on your right when travelling west.Awesome views. Cache in good condition. Now for a trip to town.

What a journey! Cairns up the Cape, across the gulf, out to East Arnhem and now here! The road wasn't without its obstacles, but for the most part okay. Wrecks in numbers like I've never seen along the way. Each crossing showing its potential damage when the conditions are right to pluck another car off permanently. We hit a few hard bits, but early in the season seems to have its merits. Great to make it here, now into town to see what that brings before heading back.

Took me a while to find but glad I got it.

What an epic adventure and achievement to drive out here today and find this amazing historical place.
Even though there's not much infrastructure, it must have been an important place.
2 1/2 hour drive out, from the end of the bitumen road, 80% of the road has been graded,
no where near as much corrugations at previous finders - (thank goodness) .
Unbeknown to us, but as we drove to the top of the lookout (admittedly the little bit of bitumen drive was rather nice ), there was a meeting taking place for the Local Indigenous People today, with the Cultural and Heritage, and Geological Outlook here, it looks like it was a very important meeting place.
We quietly moved past, as not to interrupt the Indigenous Meeting.
We signed the log book and took a few photos, then quietly walked back to the Repeater Station at the top of the hill, across the razorback road.
Now for yhe 2 1/2 hour drive back to the bitumen

We are on a Bucket List Trek, from Busselton,
in the South West corner of Australia,
up to Cape York, Australia's most Northern land point.
We travelled through several iconic tracks,
through the Gawler Ranges,
the Oodnadatta Track, the Birdsville Track,
the Bloomfield Track and the PDR Track to Cape York.
We were fortunate to attend GreyHam’s Geocaching Event in Bamaga, a great catch up
As we meander homeward bound, via the last little bit of Highway Number 1, across this awesome country, we stopped here to enjoy the scenery, check out the history and wonder what life was like here in the Outback all those years ago.
Thanks to the CO's for adding to our journey as we head home from our trip to Cape York.

A favourite point for this one for being so remote

We are travelling around Australia and using geocaching to explore places we otherwise would never go. After spending a few months heading up the west coast then across the Gibb River Road, I started looking for interesting caches to seek out in the NT.

Collecting LGAs has proved a great way to explore in the past, so this cache definitely ticked some boxes but we were unsure if we would be able to reach gz as meer tourists.

A stop in Katherine Information centre proved fruitless with the lady at the desk being the most unhelpful person I'd ever come across. She couldn't provide any information on road conditions other than to say she thought it was open, did not mention the requirement for permits and did not give any warnings that we'd be entering aboriginal land. I had several other questions for her and all her answers were either I don't know or turned out completely wrong, but that's another story.

Anyway, armed with a lack of information, we headed to Daly River to set up camp, drop the camper so we looked a little less touristy and went to the pub to fill up. It's a public holiday today for some reason in the NT so we rolled out of the pub/servo with a full tank for fuel and quite a bit of apprehension, figuring out a story if we were stopped, with the intention of turning back if anyone questioned us. We passed the permit signs and confirmed the Info Centre lady was a complete twat... but pushed on. The road was quite reasonable for a long dirt road. Much better than the Gibb haha.

The water crossings we negotiated and we counted abandoned cars to pass the time. We say huge flocks of birds, wild brumbies and buffalo. Passed a bush fire and waved at locals who were travelling in the opposite direction.

2 and a half hours later and at our 46th abandoned car we turned right and headed up the very impressively steep sealed (yay) road. After checking out what little remains of the old repeater station, we stopped the car near gz and made a quick find knowing the cache wasn't where the pin was suggesting.

Signing duties completed, we took the pathtag and left an nz keyring and some misc swag. Now to repeat that journey back to camp and a cold beer.

Thanks for the adventure and another LGA under the belt.

After dropping off a job in Darwin yesterday, I headed out to Daly River for the night. As I don’t need to be in Hedland until the weekend that left plenty of time for the trip out here to nab this LGA. I am positively thrilled that the road up is sealed, otherwise the wuss in me would have insisted on walking it. That being said, the road from Daly River is pretty average. Still, it was a great morning for a drive. I left a pathtag for the next finder. Thanks for placing this geo and providing the challenge Smile

This was a cache that has been on our radar for a long while as it adds the last LGA to our NT list that has a cache available to be found. The group consisting of ilook4geo, pprass and goingplaces2 met up last night and the subject of this cache came up for discussion. The pros, cons and timing caused some quite lively discussion but it was eventually decided to move on the next morning, go to camp at Daly River and go exploring from there.
So the expedition headed out about midday today and made good time with the road being better than expected. There was a lot of geo chat as well as personal stories and the travel time passed quickly. After picking up the right track to access GZ it was a quick and easy find. All team names were stamped on the log and the view was admired, but the sky was quite smoky due to the it being the NT burn off season. The return trip also passed quickly and after getting back to camp a hearty meal was enjoyed at the Daly River Inn.
A lot of unloved days were collected here after an amendment by the helpful reviewer.
This was a really successful trip and one to be remembered. Thanks go to JWstorming for placing this cache. Both the container and log were in good condition.

Getting to this cache with the teams being pprass, goingplaces2 and ilook4geo, was a lot of fun. The road was not too bad, but there were some sharp gutters and water crossings to negotiate, most of which were not too surprising, but still needed some caution and care.
As the owner of the vehicle ilook4geo was elected to do the driving, which was enjoyable.
Thanks for this adventure and cache placement go to JWstorming.

Found at 2:59:00 PM(t) GAFF5.
Well what a massive adventure this cache turned out to be. We were speaking to ILFG and GP2 who mentioned that they were intending to do this cache, but it was a long way away. We knew that this was one of the few NT LGA's that we hadn't done, so we said that we would love to join them! Then at the splendid "The Rapids" camp the night before where we met up, we discussed a plan of attack and tried to overcome some internal dissension as best we could. The end result was that we would leave The Rapids at 8.30am and head to Daly Water. Set up camp there and then head off on a 170km odd drive to the cache over some gravelly/corrugated road that included a few creek crossings. It took us 3.5 hours to get there including a stop for a brief lunch on the side of the road, but with some lively discussions and good humour the time just melted away and we had a great time while Alan did a sterling job of driving and avoiding most of the ditches Razz
We then managed to find the right track up to the hill - after p-pprass insisted that an earlier track would do the job [B)] - and the cache was easily found by Alan after realising that going over the edge where the GPSr was pointing was not going to be a good idea [:o)]
Well that now leaves just one more LGA to do to complete the NT and that one is the tiniest you can imagine!
Thanks JWstorming.
Feedback: We saw that a cacher by the name of JulianBurda had claimed a find on this cache on 2/04/22 with a magnificent log of "M". We didn't see his name in the log book and found that he had found 10 caches in Germany and Russia around that time - obviously a couch finder. Reported it to a very friendly reviewer who immediately agreed it was a false log and deleted it! Meaning that the unloved days are now ours Big Grin

Wow hard find but a great spot! Used the
Gps to get it but still looked like it was off the side of the cliff! As placer says, it isn't. Tftc and the excellent lookout.

Interesting area - and what a great view: hills and plains and ocean! First visit to Wadeye - much less flat than I thought it would be.

Located the lost repeater site on our first night at Wateye but without a GPS at hand. Had a look around but didn't find the cache. An easy find a couple of days later with the GPS in hand. The container was a bit deformed from a recent fire. On our first visit we had a BBQ as we watched the sunset from Airforce Hill. Thanks to JWstorming for the cache. Took tape measure and left a pokemon (sp?).
