Yep that is one seriously fire/burn off that has gone through the area. Nothing left of the hiding spot or the cache itself. And with the area the way it is, I'm reluctant to replace the cache, so it is time for this one to go.
Once the area has regenerated a little, someone else might like to place a cache in there.
Thanks to the 153 who managed to find it before it's demise........

You might want to check this cache. I visited the area today - the last log with a find is 15 March. I've been away for a few weeks so am not sure when the fire was at GZ but I didn't see any logs big enough to contain a regular cache. I think I might have seen some melted plastic I'm not even sure of that.
When I visited the cache in November, there was certainly signs of the burn off that had been conducted. Has there been another since then?? Not sure, but will check it ASAP.
Thanks for the heads up. Disabled for now......

I'm not sure how recently the fire went through this area but there were no hollow logs big enough to contain a regular sized cache. If the cache was plastic, it may have melted as it looked like melted plast where a large log had been.
626 [375] Quick find at GZ. I'd not walked in this area before. Some surprisingly good views from nearby. Tks SDL!
Followed a dry water channel and got to gz without incident from the path. Cache was sitting out in the open so I put it back in the log and covered it as best I could. Thanks sol de lune.
In the area, so took the time to add another log book.
Cache is all good. Cache on!
Cache is all good. Cache on!
Haven't been to this area before, despite driving past regularly, so it was an interesting walk. Found a few early orchids on the way.
Thanks - I'll have to come back and explore!

After dropping the kids at school decided to check out an area that I have driven past many times but not checked out. Great little bush setting with plenty of big roos about. TFTC
We needed a daily cache to keep our August quest alive, GeoZac needed a walk,it was a beautiful day and this cache was not far from home so what could I do but - go caching!! Great place for a walk, quick find - which we like - so may as well stroll to another nearby cache. Picked up a pathtag but there was no TB (2 Brothers Grimm Canberra Geocoin) as per the cache inventory. TFTC SDL
Cache #2 for today.
Having scrapped my plans for a trip down south I decided to do a day of 'Next Closest Cache' and I let the adventure begin having no clue where I would end up going.
This area is a lot of fun to ride in and the caches were just a bonus. I liked this one nice simple cache just off the track. On to the next one!

I wandered up from College Street. As it was a foggy morning, lots of kangaroos were out and about on the top of the hill. I enjoyed the walk very much. TFTC!
#665 - 20:10; Another walk through the bush in the dark, but not quite as spooky as the previous find a few minutes earlier and definitely an easier walk back out than it was in. The cache was located safe and dry after the recent rain and after signing the log, it was replaced in its hidey hole. TFTC SdL
One of two finds during my lunch time walk. Cache is in good condition with some treasure for the geo-kids. Thanks Sol for the hunt and an enjoyable walk in the bush.
I work just down the hill and over the road - which probably would have been a less strenuous walk than the "over the road and UP the hill" after work on a rather hot day - lol
Decided to hunt for this, and whatever else I could find, on my way to an Art exhibition opening (ooops - I was a bit late for that - lol)
Found the cache, and a nice interesting nearby log (in the shade of a tree trunk) to sit on and sign/etc.
Took a green dinosaur ant a tiny pink heart, left a blue horse stencil and a calico bag with a ribbon to tie it up (and I think I left a drink coaster too ... Note to self: log cache finds before going to Sydney to pick up a puppy, or other exciting stuff, rather than 3 days later? lol)
Brought some TBs for a visit - didn't leave any because they still had other stuff to do/places to be taken.
(I didn't notice that geocoin either, but I may have just not recognised it as one?)
TFTC - nice little spot for one

Found on a lunchtime ride with Curbo...I so bravely looked after the bikes as Curbo bravely headed into the bush...TFTC!
Pleasant stroll thanks for the hide )

Easy find. Dropped off a trackable SSCX6H. Didn't see the Geocoin that was meant to be in the cache, but didn't look too closely.
Decided to go for a run with Raspberry Moo while waiting for chicken to finish choir. Why not bag a cache? Any easy find in a one k loop, office to office.

I was working at the school over the hill and had bush bashed into Fore!s cache then realised that there where nice trails to walk on. So an easy, pleasant walk around the hill to this cache. Thanks Sol de lune
A pleasant walk from our last find. GZ was fairly obvious as we approached. Time to head back to the car as the weather is looking a tad ominous. TFTC.
A quick find in a lovely piece of bushland. Noticed a small error on the cover of the logbook, guess we know when this one was placed

Easy find, good walk although best to bring good shoes. Had some help from the local magpie with signing the log (photo attached). TFTC Benny & Claire <3
Saw the cache from a distance and great camoflage. Enjoyed looking at all the toys inside.
Thanks from The Split
Thanks from The Split
Found this cache with The Split and Cleared For Takeoff our fourth and last today.
We made it a bit of a round about walk on the hill today but it was really nice here anyway. Passed by Mugglestone Place and that gave us a giggle. A perfectly located cache. We were happy to come here, not having been here before.
We celebrated an important birthday as part of some other crazy game.
Cheers

found with MajuraHathi and The Split on a caching run around the area. We thought we had a spot but the GPSr said otherwise so we kept looking, and sure enough The Split got it this time.

Once the frost had thawed we headed out for a day of caching. This is a nice area here, we enjoyed our walk through here towards GZ. Once close we actually spotted the cache from a few meters away. We dropped off the Eat, Sleep, Cache TB and signed the log. TFTC
Passing by the neighborhood on the hunt to retrieve puzzles thought we would come in here for a stroll in the bush and pick up some trads on the way. Took badge left Sydney masters badge. TFTC
A relatively easy find while in the area as the coordinates were spot on (for the GPSr, the iPhone was pretty useless out here). I love the bush area that is so close to the real world (my hotel). I was also happy that the path took me close by - Thanks Sol de line for a nice cache!
9.30pm 11 Feb I headed off into the dark with my bike light. With the light outputing 600 lumins it was perfect to spot numerous ring tailed possums high up in the beautiful gum trees that were growning as they swayed in the wind. My GPS was showing a 5 meter accuracy tonight so it took about 20mins to find the cache. Good spot well hidden and well protected from the recent heavy rains. Thx Sol de Lune.
The GPS was playing up so we had to search randomly in the general area for this cache. Found it after about 15 minutes of looking. Nightmares of cross country runs along this stretch of bush came flooding back [xx(]. TFTC
Followed the path so, it was further than the 150m indicated on the GPS. TFTC.

I am sure we trekked in from the longest point , but got a good view and pic from the top.
Plenty of school kids walking up and down hills from school around 4pm., what a daily walk ??
Nice location.
Our thanks to Sol de lune.

It was a bit of a walk to this one and as we were only briefly in Canberra but by the end of my trip the feet were a tad sore - owever this was a worthy walk and had the cache in little time TFTC
A hot day out on foot today, and this was the first one for us that had a fair bit of uphill. Well despite the heat, this was an enjoyable walk. Found the cache safe and well.
Thanks Sol de lune, Good spot for a walk!

I had to go to Canberra for a weeklong training course this week, and after having added on a weekend before hand, and it had been very successful on the caching front. I had been very busy at work before I left and I hadn't been able to put in my usual amount of preparation a caching trip to Canberra requires. I had solved no new puzzle caches! But after my massive weekend, I realised I'd be able to hit 900 caches while here in Canberra. This cache was to be my 900th cache!! It was a pleasant stroll from the previous find up the hill, even if it was a hard climb for someone who has speant the last week sitting in a training course. The cache was an easy find, thanks for the cache Sol de lune.
A good exercise day, doing some running on fire trails to get the cache. Easy peasy.
My first unofficial cache as I found this by accident whilst on a school excursion before I started Geocaching. This was the cache that got me started on Geocaching. Unfortunately I did not sign my name. Nice hide.
FOUR HUNDRED 400 FOUR HUNDRED 400 FOUR HUNDRED 400!!!!! It seems like only yesterday that we first put on our caching shoes. Actually, we had a goal to reach 400 finds before the anniversay of our first find - which was on 31 Aug 10 - so we well and truly made our deadline! We found our 200th with a Sol de lune cache (Australia Day) and got such a nice congratulatory e-mail that we decided that our 400th would be another SDL hide. Thanks for the exercise, thanks for the scenery, thanks for the adventure and thanks for the cache!
A find for the 21st of July. Unfortunately for me and my mission I missed a date .
It was a pleasant walk from Belconnen out here on a drizzly day. Cache found easily and I was on my way. Thanks Sol.

Nice location and our second cache ever - we took a small snake and trackable and left a teddy bear and puzzle toy
A nice quite walk to the cache with no one around. We always seem to head bush only to find another criss crossing track. Oh well, thankfully the bush isn't too bad in this area.
Picked up Arnold the Aussie Anchor TB and will take him on our travels at the end of the month. Left 2 Brothers Grimm Canberra Geocoin.

A short walk and a quick find. It's definately getting too cold to cache at night. Need to ensure beanie, gloves and thermals are at the ready if we are going to continue through winter. Dropped TB off. TFTC
Went for ride on my MTB, and thought i would take a detour to find this cache....
cache was located next to a old mtb track, complete with berms and rock gardens...
clue says it all...
nice location for a walk or a ride...

Ooops - coin drop - it wasn't exactly night, but it was right on dusk and I was certainly losing the light and rushing .....(probably why I missed logging this). So just in case the next finder sees no Night Caching GeoCoin then try looking for it in Fore!nsic Science just up the hill a bit....(!)
It took me a while to get to the right spot to dismount my mountainbike. All the maps I have seem to be inaccurate for this area. Nevertheless, I found the cache.

Found by Mary & David at 1640. We were looking forward to this one after reading all about it. We saw Big Julie's (as Wayne and Shuster portrayed him) tomb when we walked through the Roman Forum a few years ago. Enjoyed this walk too. Dropped off 'Travel Bug Duck (2cv)' and '1000 Finds Geo-Achievement Geocoin'. Our thanks to Sol de lune.
A nice walk. Went via the top of the ridge and enjoyed the view with TaurusSix. Quicky found the cache.
Just a little cold out while hunting for this one. Grabbed the squid and left an eraser. Also picked up the TB inside to encourage me to travel a bit further next time!
