The reserve is unfortunately still closed due to Kauri dieback. Hopefully it can be re-enabled again sometime in the future
Thanks to those who visited and found this Geocache : )

Unfortunately Kauri dieback is in this reserve Disabling to help stop its spread
Needed a .24 for the 36 Degrees challenge so grabbed the nearby piggy cache. Made sense to follow up and find this cache as well. GPS was good, but wasn't untill I turned around and looked back the way I came, saw the cache. Log has had it so signed the back of the ferry ticket someone had left. TFTC
Out and about for a spot of cache detection in the north of Auckland countryside. It ended up being nice weather for it today. Drove over the ford, which was only a few inches above the water line, to check out the waterfall. It was in fine flight after all the heavy rain yesterday. Parked up in the logical spot. It looks like the steps(?) have been removed and the fence fully enclosed. Typical DOC. Anyway, I had a nice stroll to GZ. Followed the path until I hit a fence, then turned back around to look for the hide. Took a bit for the GPSr to calm down, but after a short search I spotted the goods. Cache was rather damp inside. Cheers for the cache placement!
The trouble with looking for a cache so long after the last time it was found it can be very difficult to find. I widened my search along the hint and finally found it yippee.
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... On a flying visit to Northland with the intention of finding very old caches and anything else that is within short walking distance of the vehicle. The gloomy, black sky is an indication that rain is only a minute away...
Gap had a measuring job in the new housing development on the way to this reserve... The river was muddy and discoloured by the recent rain, though not flooded. It took a while to find the correct 'fallen' item. But with persistence, this was an eventual discovery. TFTC.

The Squirrel and my plans for the weekend was to log as many old caches as possible to go towards completing another challenge. This meant a lot of kilometres driving and a bit of forward planning and plus collect as many other caches as we could. The plan was to travel to KawaKawa Bay and stay at Hemi's uncles home.
Early start Saturday morning with our goal to get to KawaKawa. Google tells me its 266 Kilometres one way, but with caching who knows how many km's it will be.
Left Rotorua after work on Friday with a stop for dinner (Cambridge Roast House). Next stop Huntly for a coffee and a chat with fellow cachers, then on to KawaKawa Bay. No caches done on this leg.
Early start Saturday morning to achieve our goal.
9.20am - Ground a bit boggy under foot to get to this cache. Trick was to find the right fallen one as GPS was moving about. SLTFTC

Up in Warkworth for Mothers Day and out for a tiki tour. Took a detour up to Falls Road to grab this cache sitting without a smilie. All the years I'd lived in Warkworth had never walked all the way down this reserve and neither had my Dad who'd lived here most of my life. Some nice Kauri's down here. Eventually after some searching we found the cache, well hidden, thanks for bringing us down here
Lovely area ....have to come back again when not getting dark . Found cache but it was out in open .....Put all together again and hid better ....
Today we are leaving Auckland after spending 3 weeks exploring and caching around the city and we are heading northwards, destination: Algies Bay.
A lovely walk through the bush. Cache took a few minutes to track down. First we were searching too close to the river, then I noticed some more hint objects a bit further away, and more in keeping with the GPSr. Once in the right place, the cache was a quick find as the camo is no longer there. Put a few branches/bark pieces in front to cover it better. TFTC.

Nice reserve, we have to go back in summer time and spend a bit more time there, maybe go for a splash in the creek. Cache is not too hard to find but a lot of the items described in the hint are around so it's a bit tricky to find the right one. Furthermore being under the tree canopy the reading on our gps was quite erratic. TFTC
Coming past today and stopped to finally put a smile on the map here. Not entirely sure why we haven't already since it is sort of in our neck of the woods (i.e. the Warkworth area). Turned out to be a quick find. Thanks for placing evofreak?
Loved the walk along the stream, passed some cows grazing in the field. Admired the waterfall, and trees. GPS bounced around a bit, but in no time the cache was found. Thanks for the hide.

A great place to visit, spent some time on the far side of the river as well, some great looking Kauris there.--all good, thanks!
Cache was uncovered, so saw it from a mile away. Recovered so not as easy for the next person.
Had to visit Wellsford today, then took a detour on return journey and found this cache on the way to old friends further down Woodcocks Road. Needed to make sure calendar was filled in today. A lovely stroll, Very nice spot. SL. TFTC.
Out with Butchie Bum and the Geonut for another 24 hr caching adventure!!! Heading through to the West coast for more caching! Lovely walkTFTC
Out in the geonut on a great geo road trip with Rednum6. Lovely stroll along the river thanks.
Thanks for the clue. GPS a bit out cos of the trees, but lovely bush and glad finally visited, we are locals. TFTC
A really nice spot with some lovely trees, really enjoyed the visit to this one. Unfortunately forgot to bring a pen and there wasn't any writing stick in the cache so had to improvise with a stick. A fairly clear signature however.

A pleasant walk along the Wairere Reserve to the cache. Afterwards we drove over the ford to find a good place to turn the camper around - very picturesque area, thanks for showing us.

4004 Nice quick find, managed to avoid the wasp nest nearby. Beautiful day to be out Caching. TFTC
Lovely sounds from the stream below. Surely only the locals know about this spot. T4TC - M@
11.50am. A quick find once we got in to the area. Why doesn't a reserve such as attractive as this not have a place to park the car? Did wonder as we walked in if we were on the right side of the river. We were.
Thank you. David and Noeline.

6320 An enjoyable walk through the Kauri Grove... nice waterfall, took a few pics, TFTC.
forgot our pen so had to run back to the car, gave us a moment to enjoy the birds.
Forgot our pen will write it in another day, nice stroll, didn't know the path was there.
Nice easy find on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Think we startled the napping sheep a little . TFTC!
Thought for a moment the track went through the creek, didn't feel like wet feet so early in the day so looked around and found the real track.

After lunch in town came out to this nice reserve. The walk was pleasant and very pastoral. There was a lop eared bunny right where we parked (and a stoat when we returned) and lots of lambs. A ewe with twins gave us a photo op. NINO TFTC
First find of the day on our round trip to Waipu. Nice to finally walk through the trees without the rain dripping down. It took a few sweeps before the cache was revealed T4TC.
Great spot. Quite a bit of water going over the falls after the rain. TFTC
Nice little reserve.
No problems finding the cache.
Surprised to see I was 2nd TF.

What a beautiful spot, even in torrential rain/flood conditions. Strange how it works out you don't visit places like this even though work is less than 1500 m away! All safe and dry despite the elements throwing everything at it. Was sure I'd be second in the log book but was pleasantly surprised to be FTF .
