Interesting history and fun cache. TftC.

This morning consisted of a CITO and then a Coffee event. During the morning events there was a lot of chatter of everything caching, which is always nice to have your questions answered. Along with that comes the who is going where and doing what questions, oh the options. Knowing that davinells had a goal in mind and had her bike with, I had an idea to pitch at her. It was received with some excitement and a plan was hatched. There were a couple of little side caches we did before our ride. It was a fun ride until the ride back and the pedal broke on my bike, but thats a story for another time. We did the western freeway biking caches, it was a super fun ride. It got very busy at times, it helped that the caches were nice and easy to find. With logs signed and caches replaced as found we moved on, thank you for the hide.

Davinells had a plan, to reach a milestone by the end of the year. But that meant some serious caching, so Ive come to Brisbane where I can cache until I cant walk anymore.JDavs and I completed the ground work for this cache years ago and we tried to find it but had no luck so it has sat on my map for a long time. I teamed up the chamad this morning for some bike caches and this one was our first stop.No problem locating the cache today, it was a quick find.Tftc totalubeFind #4954

I found the crypt in a previous caching trip to the cemetery and have had the solved coordinates for a while. I drive past here all the time and I have even brought the kids here a few times since and still haven’t managed to find a moment to look for it. Today was the day to clean up caches in this area and this was an easy find. TFTC!

Knowing I’d be in the area today, I used knowledge gained from previous visits to the cemetery to work out where this cache might be. Once at GZ, I thought I would have a bit of a hunt on my hands due to only having approximate coordinates, but the cache was sitting out in the open so was spotted immediately. I gave it more cover when replacing to reduce the risk of muggles finding it. Thanks totalube

I had visited Toowong Cemetery a few times and finished the two Adventure Labs that brought me there, and thought I had "cleaned" the cemetery up with caches, until realising that this mystery puzzle wanted me to return back. So after looking at this one earlier today at work, I dug up some old references and from one of my earlier visits, I managed to narrow down the location. I then calculated the offset, and hoped that my rough location was sufficient at finding the cache, noting that there wasn't any checker for me to confirm my working.

After undertaking an early morning MTB session at Mt Coot-tha and The Gap, my vehicle was then left at Mt Coot-tha to then ride into work. Hence, upon my ride from work back to my car, there was a chance to stop at a few geocaches, before taking a drive to Indooroopilly in order to retrieve a strategic tool TB.

Funnily enough, I had walked/ridden nearby to this cache several times before, and today, it was not much of a detour for me to check the spot (even though I hadn't taken the physical waypoint for this cache), so I didn't mind if I was wrong. I set my bike on a tree, and had a hunt around, with one spot along the descent looking like a promising lead, but there was some nearby cactus that had me poo poo the idea. So back towards where I had my bike, and looking around where the hint wanted me, I found a geocache telltale sign. Further investigation of that had me yield the cache container! The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks totalube for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. My last cache of the *Mayne Inheritance cache* series to have found!

Watawieh from Norfolk Island South Pacific.
Todays geo-adventures was a trip to Brisbane.

I had found the Mayne Crypt about 18 months ago while visiting some of the waypoints on a nearby Adventure Lab Today was in the area of the final and I was able to make the find

Solved it and found it! Solved this one a fair few months ago but ran out of time that day to make the find. Back in Brisbane for a few days and made sure it was on our itinerary of geocaches to find. Signed log and replaced as found. TFTC

The first visit here for over 6 months, but hopefully still loved. An interesting plaque close by heralds a volunteer firefighter who has killed by an exploding cask of spirits while fighting a fire. His mother was from the Mayne family if I read the plaque correctly. Eventually found the Mayne crypt and got the required information before navigating to the exit, then to the closest parking spot to GZ. found, signed the log, and replaced. I have read the cited book some years ago, and despite circumstantial evidence fitting the story, there has never been, and probably never will be, conclusive proof of the elements of the story. Nevertheless, the Qld Uni has much to thank the Mayne family for. TFTC, totalube.

Having been given a day pass from looking after our 5 three week old puppies I jumped at the chance to go caching…

I thought I’d looked at this cache ages ago… when I was doing something related in the cemetery… but I failed to record anything useful…

I do like a good cemetery, and Toowong is up there with the best… so much history… so many memories… having collected the required info on the way to Ferny Hills I left the final until the return trip…

Having not been found for 14 months I was expecting more difficulty at GZ but it didn’t take long to find the cache… just a little digging…

Collected the TB that’s sat here for over three years… tftc… really happy to give this cache a little love today…

I find the Mayne family history fascinating, so I appreciated the opportunity to visit the crypt. The calculations were very straightforward and find was easy. All is good with the cache. The log is nice and dry and the container is tucked up safely and camouflaged in its hiding place. TFTC

Having just completed a stage of a nearby AdLab cache we realised we were standing within metres of where we needed to be to solve this Mystery cache.
Quickly made the calculations then back into the Geo-Beast & off to locate GZ.
Found parking just past GZ & Mr VC made the short walk back while Mrs VC got Winter the Geo-Cat out for a leg stretch.
The cache was quickly found despite the need to dodge several orb spiders & being distracted by a beautiful blue butterfly in the nearby foliage.
Muggles not a problem here today.
Cache log nicely contained in it's own protective housing.
All up an easy puzzle & a quick find.
Left TB.
Made our mark & replaced as found.

Came across the Mayne Crypt during a walk around the historic Toowong Cemetery. Very impressed with the architecture. Did the offset calculations and headed off for a rewarding find. Many thanks for the history behind the Mayne family and for the cache totalube!

A couple of years ago I did a ghost tour at the cemetery with bear0503 we thought we worked our gz but we were wrong. Today I was out gathering smilies with Mrs slow puncture and we were diving past and I mentioned this cache. She gave me help to solve this puzzle and find this cache. Thanks for the fun puzzle and for placing this cache here for us to enjoy.

Today I was out and about with the SPs, they were doing far more work than I was. We had Mr SP at the head of the wheel navigating and driving us to our destinations, then we had Mrs SP with her highly detailed list of solved goodies and extra notes spread out next to her on the backseat, and then there was me sitting pretty in the front and coming along for the ride, in my defence I did add in some witty conversation.

This one had us smack bang in the middle of the road, we knew something wasn't quite right, a quick PAF saw the error in our ways and we were able to make the find.

Wednesday. We had been busy solving some puzzles - some we started ages ago and some only this week. Our intention was to grab some caches on the way to the St Lucia area, including a couple of new Virtuals. As it turned out, our co-ords actually had us in the middle of the road. Doh! A quick PAF to a previous finder soon had us on the right path. Container was soon spotted with the hint provided.

This was the 3rd of 11 caches found on today's trip.

Thanks ***totalube***, for showing us this place. Smile

Wow! What a tale of ire, intrigue, awesomeness and stupidity. It all started before lunch when Mrs Woodyrothwell and I were driving through the cemetery looking at burial plots giving them a score out of 10. I was happy to be buried with an empty wine bottle as a headstone but she wanted to spend the kids inheritance (if any) building a shrine to her self-importance.

Without a plan, we originally drove through the cemetery looking at everything and kicking over some graves hoping for gold. Those dead people would not have minded because we were looking for a cache. It sucks to be dead, just ask me. Mrs Woodyrothwell always ends up saying “Do that and you’re a dead man” when I dare to pour more wine in my glass than hers.

With the help of a map we found ourselves at the crypt of choice. What about the other 100,000 poor suckers that couldn’t afford a decent grave or proper dental care.

I whacked in some GZ coordinates and that’s when the stupidity started. My mum would argue it began when she squeezed me out, but I will proceed against my better judgement. I couldn’t believe it when GZ was right next to the posted coordinates. Identical in fact. What a sneaky mystery.

Off we set to cross one of the busiest roads in town and I stated this was a poor place to put a cache. We crossed anyway and when we found ourselves in a place that no human foot has been (like a Kardashian intellectual convention) it was clear we had things wrong. Mrs Woodyrothwell said there’s no I in we.

I checked the waypoint again and it became apparently clear we were at the posted coordinates and just like Neil Armstrong we had broken new ground for mankind. After lunch we drove back to the correct spot (which was always correct) for a nice quick find to try and erode the disdain of embarrassment of our earlier attempt. I had to remind my wife that there is an our in your. tftc

Got the coords for this puzzle a long time ago but today I was in the area so decided to stop by. Arrived at GZ to find workers just there. Really?!? Did a nearby multi instead and by the time I had finished that the workers had moved on. I did lose my pen doing the multi so thanks for having a pencil here. There are a million ants at GZ and all over the cache. I took about 30 back with me crawling up my hands and arms. Else all good here. TFTC.

After a slight misjudgement with the offset co ords , we were good to go back to the same car park but to look in a slightly left area...I was out today with Ms Maddy and had a fabulous day...Given the down pour through the day, I thought her driving through flooded water was pretty darn impressive and somewhat negates my driving down a one way road the wrong way, fortunately no one was around to mock me, though Ms Maddy did give it a bit of a go after pushing some muscle on the outdoor gym. A couple of new hides popped up this morning but they were a little far west for me to be able to challenge for FTF, so I decided to clean up some caches much closer to home instead. My focus was a small cluster of unfound items around the big Toowong roundabout, and I started with this one.

Actually, I started at home, where I was able to bash out a good set of coords for GZ without having to do the first physical stage. Hopefully that's not against the spirit (pardon the pun) of the puzzle. But I've been to Toowong cemetery many times before, I've seen the Mayne crypt, I've read the book about the Maynes, and I even went to UQ, so I reckon that's excuse enough to be a bit slippery with this one!

Parked in the closest spot, and despite the presence of several sit-on lawnmower dudes, was quickly able to find the container. It was kind of exposed, so I buried it (again, pardon the pun) under a little bit of foliage. Thanks for the cache, totalube.

This cache inspired me, probably a year ago now, to read Mayne Inheritance. Thank you! It was a good read and gave good insight into Brisbane’s early history. But today I FINALLY got around to visiting the crypt itself. Which of course led me to the cache. This happened at dusk. How do night geocachers sign log books neatly? LOL. Anyway, it was peak commute time but managed to find & re-hide without being spotted. There is a cute tiny doll for next child who finds cache (I didn’t add her; she may need some cleaning up!). How many times have I passed this spot unaware of the hidden cache? There is a bit of a geo trail that has developed Sad
Dropped three “TBs”.

On a bit of a roll with finds. After surviving an apocalypse, founding the safehaven, chased a few gnomes and re-entered suburbia from the surrounding hill, had some time to search out the dead centre of town.

Interesting stories abound here and the Mayne story is particularly interesting. With the facts dug up went searching for the body. Thanks for an interesting history lesson totalube.

Riding around the cemetary the other day, i look to my left, wow, that's a cool old.. heey waitahminute... i need that info for some reason.. notes taken and on i rode, elsewhere.

So today, (which i thought was supposed to be overcast and pleasant instead saw me swimming in sweltering midday heat) i was out riding the west side and remembered i'd jotted down where i was supposed to be, so made a beeline for it. Few hiccups at gz, and amusingly i'd just decided to give it up when i found it walking back to the track. Go me. Scratched my name in and jumped out of the bushes raaar.
Thanks for the interesting history lesson to this enigmatic family.

We really enjoyed our walk today around the Toowong Cemetery. We had not ever realised it was so large and indeed very hilly. This was the last geocache for the afternoon in the area, and we enjoyed meandering around until we found the starting waypoint. It’s a pretty impressive crypt. After collecting some numbers, we jumped back into our car pretty quickly as the lightning and thunder had just begun. It was then a drive to GZ, where we made a quick find in the first place we looked. Thanks for this very interesting geocache and puzzle.

My afternoon with 1MinnieMoo, 1GiantPanda and cupcake was coming to an end but there was still one more to find. After some quick research on site, we headed off in search of the Mayne Crypt. We must have done something right as it didn't take long to discover after a small walk. It's pretty hard to miss such a grand monument. Something wasn't quite right so a PAF to a past finder and we knew where we had gone wrong Red Face Palm to forehead moment!!!

With a good looking set of final coords we all bundled into Mia and head off to seek our fortune. It was getting dark by now so on with the good old mobile phone torches. Happily the cache was found quickly and no sign of the crazy ants mentioned in previous logs.

Thanks for a fun and interesting cache totalube Big Grin

Out doing some birthday caching today with NyssaFlutterby, after spending the morning at the markets.and so far today I had managed an FTF, a multi, and a few traditionals, so it was nice to round off the day with a puzzle. I was also enjoying the irony of caching in a cemetery on my birthday. Anyway we thought we knew what we were doing here, and after having grabbed another cache, we made a small wander on over to where we thought we needed to start, but our numbers gave us a spot that in our heads didn't make sense to the info in the cache description. Hmmm ok. A little research, and we knew what we were looking for, but as our afternoon was disappearing fast, we probably weren't thinking as sensibly as we should. And with a child or two with us we were probably thinking even less sensibly - one in particular driving me to an early grave!!
Anyway we wandered around and eventually spied the particular place we were supposed to be looking for. Such an interesting, albeit gloomy, history surround this particular site. A search around there however revealed nothing more than painful pines sticking in to me! What were we doing wrong? Well a quick PAF had us head slapping/face palming here and discovering our very silly error we sorted ourselves and looked at where we were supposed to head. Red Face Oh really? Over there?? Noting how late it was, and that the place we were in would not have us here for much longer, we decided to make absolutely certain, and then we were charging off to pile in to MIA to get to GZ before dark.
Arriving at GZ, I let Nyssa out, then sent 1GiantPanda chasing after her, before I drove a little further down to park the car. Thankfully at this time of day there were some spots. A quick find after our silly start, and we were finished for our day here today.
Thanks for the cache totalube. Yes it does seem like we had our blonde moments here today!!

I must admit that we solved this one from the desk and took a scenic tour of the cemetery straight after the find.

The hide was/is home to a significant ant population. WOW, I don't think I have seen one like that before. When I moved the container with a stick the whole area of the tree turned completely black, apart from the huge amount of eggs. So glad that it was the friendly variety that doesn't bite... I decided to hide the container as described in the hint as I wasn't too keen to put it back into the zillions of upset ants.

The Mayne family story is quite interesting.

Last week I visited a customer in a nearby street and when I was finished, I took a wander around the cemetery, where I found the crypt. I didn't have time to visit the final then, but today I returned on my way out west.

It took a while to find because it is now hidden in the fork of a tree and not as per the hint. The container was also swarming with millions of ants. I did my best to rid the container of the little bitey buggers, but I was outnumbered badly.

Many thanks, totalube

My geo partner and I are big fans of the mayne inheritance book. A recommended read for an insight into Brisbane history.

I was asked to head there today by the wife to collect pine cones for our Christmas in July. Couldn't resist pick up a few whilst I was there.

I have never before visited this cemetery and found it interesting to see the large number of Brisbane's key figures buried here. Looking for 12th Avenue without any idea of the cemetery layout posed a challenge and then a miscalculation of the offset required a quick calculation recheck. Found the cache in good condition. I finished work a little later than expected today and still needed my find for the day. I was nearby, yesterday, looking for another cache and made the decision to leave this one for another day. I am so glad I did.
I had solved the puzzle quite some time ago but had not been to search for the cache. With the late finish, I decided that I might be able to find this one quickly. I parked nearby and wandered across to GZ, dodging muggles making their speedy way home from work. I went "in there", wiping away the cobweb I had walked through. It was quite dark there, so I turned on the torch on my phone, hoping not to attract the attention of the passing muggles. The first thing it lit up was a partially hidden cache. Smile I quickly signed the log and rehid the cache, slightly better than when I found it. I had to wait for a while for a break in the passing "traffic" before I could make my way back to my car and home

Out today enjoying a full day of solo caching while the kids are otherwise occupied. Trying to rack up a few more numbers for an upcoming milestone, while also targeting caches to fill empty spots on our DT grid. Out the door at 0500 and powered on to find 38 caches, including 6 previously solved puzzles and 3 multis, picked up 3 new TB's and dropped off 2 old ones. Whew what an awesome adventure!! Spending lots of time in cemeteries today, some very cool heaves here. Grabbed the coords and made the calcs, was pleased to find this one located not far from another area I intended to visit today. At GZ a quick find was made of a well maintained Cache. TFTC

Being in the area, I was taking a look at possible options to have a look for and well puzzles are always something that I do enjoy from time to time, especially a puzzle that I can cover off in the field.

So I had a look at what was needed and thought it a challenge akin to a needle in a haystack. But with a little bit of research I realised that I already knew the location I was looking for, and had actually visited this spot before. This being said it still took me a couple of minutes driving around to find my way back to the exact location, with the one way roads and such in the area here.

As I arrived at the gate I went to take a waypoint and the GPSr came up with Database error, Grrrr. A quick reset and get it warmed up again with a little walking up and down, and the second attempt was much more successful. So back to the car and with the numbers retrieved and those provided I soon had a set of coords. Now it was just down to trying to figure out just how to get back there through the roads.

With a little round and round the back streets I was soon arriving in pretty much the right position. I got a park and wandered in towards the GZ, letting a cyclist pass before ducking into the cover to take a look. I figured the GPS would not be much use as there could be a little variance based on my original waypoint and such, but figure I would be close enough.

After searching a little around a couple of spots I turned and spotted something nicely concealed, upong a closer look it turned out to be just what I was looking for. Even with a full army of ants attempting to protect it. I knocked the vast quantity of ants off, not without getting a few on me and was soon flipping through the log. I got my name added and was soon replacing everything, well except for the ants, they were going a little crazy, thankfully only little ones, that did not seem interested in biting though.

Find #1129 at 15:00.

Figured as my usual caching partner doesn't enjoy cemetery caches (not that I'm wildly fond of them myself, but I have no real problem with them either) I'd clear this area out while I was on my own. After driving around in slow circles for a while seeking a couple of other caches (and keeping an eye out for this crypt) I stumbled upon said feature and pulled over to take a reading.

After clearing out the rest of the cemetery I headed down to GZ for this one. The feature was obvious, and the hide similarly so once in the correct position Big Grin Love the way the log is protected, I don't think it will be seeing any moisture anytime soon, even if the cache floods! [^]

Thanks for the cache, totalube. I should have a look at the rest of the Mayne series sometime!

Today out with gulliverstravels54 to get this one before the heat takes over, I had been to this cemetery once for a ghost tour (so cool) and not long ago to do all the traditional ones with the geobratz in toe. After the drive to GZ parking was good and bikes every where screaming past cache was soon in hand I had 10m off but think that was just in my calculations log signed path tags grabbed as our path tags are now looking great as the numbers are slowly counting up. Love the set up and history be hide this one log dry safe and placed back as found.

Toowong Cemetery must be one of the most beautiful and interesting parts of Brisbane. And it's so huge that every visit brings a new surprise, or an old favourite.
The rains of the past week have left it green and lush and peaceful.
Strangely, although quartpotpobblebonk knows exactly where to find the required monument, a wrong turn delivered an adventure in a different part of the cemetery and some great new favourites graves.

Finally, standing at the right spot, the maths had to begin - always a bit of a risk.
But doing the calculations delivered a destination that seemed like a pretty likely spot for a cache.
Onto the next stage. Feels right.
Watch out for all the ducks marching across the roadways.

Then to find the cache.
Aha!
That was pretty easy in the end - it was pretty much undisguised.

Took nothing, left a few pathtags.

Came away smiling - maths doesn't always work Very Happy

Thanks for this hunt.

Astronaut Rick Mastracchio will deliver a Travel Bug to the International Space Station. Mastracchio will be using the Travel Bug as an educational tool to help teach students around the world about geography and provide other educational lessons. The mission is currently scheduled to launch from Kazakhstan at 4:08 GMT on November 7.

It was 7th of November and if you attended an event you would be awarded a “Geocaching in Space” souvenir.

There was an event at the nearby Botanical Gardens so I decided to take the day off work and spend the day exploring the area. (as well as attending the event)

No.12 for the day.... After the lunchtime event I met up with Fangsoki for a bit more caching. We returned to this familiar spot to grab a waypoint and soon had the co-ords for the cache.

I had meant to do this cache months ago after doing the "Mayne Residence" but ran out of time. It was definitely on my "to do" list of caches today. It is great to learn about the history of the area.

Thanks for the cache totalube. Cheers!

Trying to find the final coordinates took me into the Toowong cemetery for the first time. Have had the calculation completed for a while, so now that I have the "key to the Box" to drop off, this seemed like an appropriate place. Final gz was fairly quiet on a Sunday morning, so no problems with retrieving or replacing. Cache and log book were dry and in good order.
Thanks for the challenge Totalube.

Had worked out the co-ordinates for this one with out a physical visit to the crypt. Arrived at GZ and the cache was right where it should be according to the GPS. TFTC

I looked at this last night and thought it looked fun so decided to have a go at it after collecting one nearby.

I drove through the cemetery and found the crypt, so jumped out and had a look at it and admired the view. Shortly after I heard another car pull up, a security guard walked around to great me. Here I am taking photos of the crypt to back up my story of why I was there in the first place, I was saying how great it was and he said it was a pity it was damaged - I'm a doofus, I hadn't noticed the head had been removed from the statue. I digress; Ms Garmin took a reading for me and it was back to the car to do the simple sums. Hmmm, simple huh..... I took off heading for my 'new' co-ords and found myself surrounded by houses. How could that possibly be right?? Oh - that's a plus not a minus. Back off in the opposite direction and found where I needed to be. By this stage it was dark, and there were cyclists passing in their droves, but I managed a stealthy retreat off the path. I found the cache very quickly, and also found lots and lots of ants. Log signed, cache replaced.

Thanks totalube, I enjoyed my adventure here this afternoon, a fav from me Smile

I so enjoyed reading the Mayne Inheritance a few years ago now, that to finally visit the grave of Patrick Mayne was very poignant. Thanks so much for getting me there. I didn't look up where it was located in the cemetery, so had fun looking around. I assumed he might have been a more important historical figure than I guess he was, so spent a few minutes looking around at the top of the cemetery with some amazing views. I finally gave in and looked for photos of the crypt and drove around some more. I eventually spied something up an alley that looked familiar, and made my way to the correct gate. Coords soon worked out and I left them as an emergency cache for a 'find a day' find. Tonight was that night. With Geodaughter picking me up from a bronco's game and a find required, this one was on the way home. A quick find with excellent coordinates. Cache in suburb condition. Thanks for the interesting puzzle, I really enjoyed it.

I was on a night trip to look for some puzzles I'd solved and had waiting to find. This was the second on my run and the one I was most anxious about. I had solved this using the wonders of Google and had a likely looking coordinate, but my last attempt to do the same with Window had not been great. (Well not great for finding the cache on the first try, but pretty good for getting extra exercise in having to go twice).

At least one thing I've learnt from this style of puzzle is that at GZ it is worth taking a wide sweep and looking for the place you would put a cache. So I tried this and immediately saw the hide the first place I looked. Hurrah.

Quickly signed up and was impressed by the double box cache concept. Cache and log all in good condition in this simple but effective advancement in hide technology.

Luckily found someone here who had a map of the cemetery and allowed me a quick check. Got the rough to where it was and headed off. Knew it would be big and so soon located. Did the sums and set off again. I was only in this area a few days ago and thought what a good area for a cache and how it would be a great family picnic area . Using the clue, soon located the second part and log signed. Thanks totalube

Found this cache this morning while finding another couple just up the road. We enjoyed the drive around the cemetery. It is an amazing place. We found what we were looking for and placed the gps in the right spot and noted the co-ords. Funny thing was they were the same when we got back to the car. Whoops! GPS had a tantrum and we had to remove a battery and start again. With the information noted we did the math and drove to a location not far away and fortunately found ourselves a cache in pretty quick time. Cache is in excellent condition. Thanks for the fun totalube and thanks for the cache!

Out with Captain Terror today doing a mystery clear out of the area and I decided that we had to come and find this one. I had been here before and so knew exactly where to go and what to do, but my final coords seemed to be off for this one when i had previously tried to find it.
Today with the captain, we walked straight up to GZ (which was actually only about 20mtrs from where my coords had been pointing to) and found the cache without any troubles.
always the way isnt it;)

Please don't ask me why I haven't found this one earlier.. because I have no idea. I seem to have found everything else around it but missed this one. In the area today with Egginthesky and she mentioned how she had managed to DNF this one at some point, so we decided my GPSr might have the skills to pay the bills, or at least.. find the cache.

We had a pretty good idea where to find the famous crypt so were there quickly. Oh my, what an amazing memorial. Co-ords be damned as I admired it for a short while. Superbly maintained too. Eventually my mind came back to the job at hand and I took a waypoint, being sure to average the numbers. Then retired to the car, out of the sun, to crunch the numbers, carefully doing the maths. I had a waypoint that looked right and Miss. Sky agreed with, so we headed off.

A good parking spot was found and we headed off. The Eggy one explained where she'd been looking, but my GPSr pointed in a slightly different spot. We headed to a likely feature and within a minute had the cache located. Just that easy with the right equipment and know-how Wink

We signed the logbook and I noted the co-ords I had were within 4m. With the great set-up here, all was in good condition inside as we replaced as found. A great little puzzle/multi and a wonderful historical element and in a nice area. Top stuff! TFTC totalube Smile

After a false start using the wrong (original) offset, I revisited Mayne Crypt, did a waypoint average and then applied the correct offset. Back down to GZ and I literally walked straight up to a well-and-truely exposed but still intact cache.

After signing the log, I replaced it with an appropriate (read: suitable large) amount of camouflage Smile

TNLN. Thanks totalube. Toowong cemetery is always a fascinating place!

Having visited the Mayne Crypt and done the necessary sums, I wandered into GZ and found the cache.
The Mayne Crypt is the whitest one and best kept site of the older sites in the cemetery.

It was quite a drive around Anzac park to get to GZ. Once there it was a quick find though.
Interesting history of the family.
thanks, Robmc.

# 1134. Our last find for the day after another big day caching. Drove into this huge park and wandered over to GZ. What an interesting story you have written on the Mayne Family. Thank you. Took: nothing, Left: Pathtag.

This is a fascinating story and was a must do cache our last after a long day in teh company of Robmc and BettyBoo. It was a quiet peaceful place and after a small drive we had just a stroll to your cache which was in good order.
Thanks totalube for highlighting the Mayne family

It took a little while on-line to locate the Mayne Crypt and it was pleasing today to confirm the location. After applying the adjustments, we were able to get to GZ where a quick find was made. We were impressed with the efforts to ensure that the log remained dry - it was. TFTC totalube.

It took me a few visits to find the Crypt. Then it was a matter of finding the right spot to take a reading and then doing all the calcs.

I find these types of caches are prone to multilple errors for me.... so I was very glad to find the cache withing 2m of my calculation Big Grin

Thanks totalube, fascinating bit of history too!! FP from me.

We were picking some finds up in the cemetry today, so I thought it makes sense to get this one. The kids were interested in the Mayne's crypt as it looks so clean and new.

After a few more finds for the morning, we dropped in to pick up the cache.

11-May-12
Had been unable to find the crypt on previous visit but this time thanks to local knowledge hit on the crypt and made the adjustments required. Cache found in appropriate area ready for a further cache find we had hoped to find. had to dodge the workman here and we are sure they were quite suspicious.

And found! We'd been collecting caches over in the cemetery this morning and picked up the requisite numbers to solve the puzzle, and surprisingly accurate for an in-car GPS, too! After calling the CO just to make sure I'd understood what to do, having been slightly confoozled by the change in coords, I received confirmation that I had the right solution so off we went. I've never actually been to the area before and was pleasantly surprised at how popular it was, not to mention the birdlife around, and the cutout possum! Again, the iPhone's GPS proved unreliable, but the satellite imagery was our salvation, and basing our search on one specific tree, we managed to find the hidden cache a lot faster than we anticipated! After prying it free from the ants, we signed the shiny new logbook and replaced for the next lucky finder. TFTC, totalube! =^.^=

Yay we found it. We'd only had an in-car gps and an iphone which was proving a little unreliable today but after confirming the co-ords with the owner we were delighted to come up with the goods. I've never been here before but it was so nice that I'll be back with the kids. Thanks totalube

Sad to say the cache has been destroyed. Brother Colin and I found the box in full view at GZ, but no lid, and it was full of water. The log bag was also full of water and only the front cover there. No other contents nor the lid could be found Sad We left the box upside down at GZ.

Out and about with Brother Colin today, visiting Toowong Cemetery and its surrounds. Found the Crypt, and it's probably the whitest thnig in the whole Cemetery Smile Well maintained, UQ. Stood by the gate and worked out new co-ords, then went and found some more caches here before taking a short walk to GZ.

We put the box back upside down at GZ. TFTC, totalube.

After work today we decided to head around the cemetery and find the Mayne family Smile We spent about half an hour driving, in search of the lost family, and finally stumbled upon the site. A lovely spot here indeed, and it certainly stood out when we spotted it. We did the projection, and were quickly off to GZ Big Grin We arrived and after doing a lap around, we found a nice parking spot, and headed in to GZ. We soon spotted the likely hiding spot, and sure enough we found the cache Big Grin The cache was however open, and the logbook was out of the container. Luckily it was still sealed in the baggie, so we added our names to the logbook, and returned it to its hiding spot Big Grin

A lovely cache and we enjoyed the search around Smile

After finding Thriller, this cache was next on my list. "How the hell am I going to find a single grave in the biggest cemetery in Queensland. I knew it would be a large magnificent monument but there a plenty of these here. I thought there may be a listing of sorts near the main entrance so I headed in that direction. I walk about 50 meters and what do I find? The Mayne Crypt. "Well that was lucky" I thought. I applied the offset and after a short walk I was at GZ. Luck was on my side again as I found the cache quite quickly.

Attempted this one some time ago, but never got started due to difficulty finding crypt. So home we go for some research and worked out what we were looking for.

24/12/11. With info in hand we set sail again knowing what we were looking for, but where. Eventually after some more searching, located crypt. Obtained information, completed calculations. Too far for today (or so I thought) so we decided to come back 27/12/11.

27/12/11. Start off on trek and ended up off the beaten track, searched for awhile with no luck as nothing matched the clue. Something must me wrong but as I left clues at home we gave up and headed home. Re-calculations done. I really need to work on my maths. Only about 1.5km out. All that walking Sad

Set out today with correct co-ords in hand. Reasonably easy find when your at the right place. Glad to add a smiley face to this one. TFTC

Found by Sunshine Toledo and Jinga2 at 8:59am. I did most of the organising for this cache at home before setting out for the cache so had a fair idea where it should be and there it was; quite easily found. TFTC and the info about the Mayne Family: I have read the book.

I enjoyed reading the Mayne Inheritance, as one or two of my forebears managed to rate a mention (nothing too sinister, I assure you), and look forward to doing as much of this series as possible. I drove through the cemetery looking for something high and white, and found it without much trouble. Had to then hope my iPhone was having a good day: looks like it was.
Took a fair amount of searching at GZ to produce the goods: I don't want to see any more bamboo for a long, long time!
All is good with the box: TFTC Totalube.
