With the recent publication of a massive letterbox hybrid trail in Mulligan's Flat, I decided to go and try and polish off my remaining caches within the reserve. A quick tram ride and bike transportation later had me at Mulligan's entrance, where a lovely four hour bike ride was had to pick up everything I could. TFTC!This fence is quite annoying, had to double back quite a bit. A quick find.
A quick find after watching the sunset from the top of the hill. Thanks for the cache growingupisoptional
Lots of kangaroos today! Like others, we were initially on the wrong side of the fence, but got there eventually!TFTC
#2450 Kangaroo hey, many separate mobs were sighted on our travels today. The Delta Squad were so stealthy they didn’t know we were there. Thanks for placing the cache.
#512 With hopes of clearing out a good portion of caches in Mulligans, especially those ones further out DELTA SQUAD assembled. We trekked for approximately 15 km over a 6.5 hour period. Upon exiting the reserve we only had one DNF, a very successful day!
A little further up from our last find and we made a good guess at where this one was hidden from a distance. Turtle was in charge of retrieval but made sure not to upset any spiders inhabiting nearby. Thanks for placing this one growingupisoptional, another old find for today

In an attempt to hit 3000 finds by August, the DELTA SQUAD decided to raid the Mulligan's Flat Nature Reserve. We managed to find many caches, including quite a few lonely caches, happy with that! Thanks for the fun!
Quick find whilst we were in the area. Container has a hole but log is OK. TFTC.
What a vision. A bouncer kangaroo. Most likely a big red.
Cache container side cracked. But log dry. 1+ for the hide.
Thanks for the cache.

fitzy_1965 and I headed into Canberra this afternoon to catch up with nibletricecakes and GLISS! for a spot of caching on a glorious winter’s day.
We decided to take a walk through the back part of Mulligan’s Reserve to grab the caches in the far reaches. Fitzy_1965 had already found the older one out this way but nibletricecackes, GLISS! and I could not just walk past them LOL. The loop we did was rather pleasant with us seeing a fair bit of wildlife as well as walkers and bikers utlilising the trails.
All the caches were found quickly and easily today unless otherwise stated. A great afternoon had by all.

Quickly spotted with Fitzy_1965, Minniek and Nibletricecakes. A fun afternoon out with lots of smilies. TFTC
A beautiful winters day to be out walking with Fitzy_1965, Minniek and GLISS!
Having not been to this end of the reserve before, I was able to cleanup with the many caches available in the area. We came across a gorgeous wallaby, a bunch of kangaroos and a ton of lone bike riders! Everyone enjoying the sunshine in the reserve today I am sure I will need to be back again at some point, as there seems to be a couple of puzzles in the area begging me to solve them. Watch this space! Thanks for enabling a wonderful afternoon with friends. Thanks for the cache.

Cache 6861 on 4 Dec 2020.
Needed a few caches today so decided to get an early start and go for a walk in Mulligans Flat. A fabulous 6.7 walk under blue skies and with various fauna watching on. As always, I underestimated how much time I needed and had to curtail my walk slightly, but still managed to get the caches I needed. Will have to come out with my MTB another time to clean up the last few caches in this northern section.
Container broken, but contents holding up okay.
Thanks growingupisoptional for the cache and the fun!

Another great day of riding around Mulligans Flat looking for traditional caches in the northern and western sections. Found lots of roos and wallabies, one turtle, one echidna and one lizard. Made lots of noise to hopefully discourage slithering reptiles (certainly didn't see any). Really pretty in the far northern section of this reserve.
This cache was a straightforward find at GZ - thanks.
This cache was a straightforward find at GZ - thanks.
Found while out for a walk, 6.3km. I saw some kangaroos, but not near GZ. I saw a couple of echidnas on my way. Once at GZ the cache was easily spotted. Log stamped and all replaced and I added some more camo, hope this stays in place. On my return I saw a couple of superb parrots. TFTC.
Save yourself the effort and don’t attempt from the Mulligan side as you’re on the wrong side of the electric fence!
TFTF! Had to do some creative fence crossing to get here, but ultimately a good find.
Today a family hike was in order. Mulligans flat was offering nice easy hiking for the whole family as well as lots of caches as we have not been here in 8 years! We had a great 6km hike over a little less than 3h with 19 GCs and 1 GCA cache. I am sure we walked passt some other caches as I have not solved all the caches in the area and will be back some time.

This cache: A quick find after I dragged the family on a little detour to this one. Nice big container. Nice hide for it. I used the stamp and left a Pathtag.
Thank you growingupisoptional for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

Headed out with geokid to knock off a few more in the reserve.
Cache was on the opposite side of the fence from my point of origin, however the trek around was worth it as the cache was found laying on the ground at GZ.
There is a crack/hole on the side of the container, fortunately I was able to sign the log as it was dry, though there are some signs that it was wet recently.
Re-place with some protection from the weather. TYFC

Found on a half day exploring Mulligans Flat. We also found bettongs, echidnas, kangaroos, and a sleepy possum. Great time of year to visit Mulligans. TFTC!
Found with Albida33 & Aykayem on a beautiful sunny day picking up the caches in this corner of Mulligans Flat. Cache was in good condition and onto the next. TFTC
An easy cache to find if you approach from the correct angle. I did not so it took me a little longer.
Another great day caching in Canberra, the weather was a bit ordinary but that didn't spoil the fun. Started out around Lake Ginninderra and then moved towards Gunghalin and over the border.

2nd attempt at this one and this time right side of the fence! Very quite out here today, no kangaroos in sight...
Disturbed a sleeping huntsman that had found its way into the cache from a hole in the side. Apart from that it was a relatively easy find. Thanks for bringing me out this way.
Quick run over from the letter box. Tftc. Plane flying high overhead. And some birdsong. Nice.
Out here collecting caches for the Hidden Creatures campaign. This is number 6 so far. After a quick search around the cache was soon found unlike the kangaroos. They were absent from this part of the bush today. TFTC
JohnnyBoyACT and I went in search of geocaches in Mulligans Flat, Bonner and along the ACT’s northern border today. The weather was sunny although cool, the bush of Mulligans Flat was quiet and frosty and the views over Gungahlin from the northern border were most impressive. In all, I added 33 caches to my tally, with two DNFs. This cache was a straightforward find. Thank you growingupisoptional for installing and maintaining this cache.
A day of caching with Kambahkid in Mulligans Flat NR, the high side of Bonner and up onto the Canberra Centenary Trail. We did some of JackaKid's VC series and others on the line and some of Champs2Monkeys' CCT series. TFTC.
Found with nissan 65 on a few days away caching Log signed and returned to its hiding place. Thankyou for the cache .
Finding myself with a few hours alone on Christmas Day, a bike ride and then walk in Mulligan's Flat Woodland Sanctuary seemed in order.
Like all today, a nice easy find in a lovely spot. A quick wave to a passing ranger as I approached and a wary check of the hide (given the large eight-legged guardian at the previous one) and all was good. TNLNSL TFTC

Another glorious Spring day in Canberra and I really wanted to get some big numbers up today but the housework, washing and gardening couldn't be ignored forever. That, except the gardening, took me to lunch which I enjoyed sitting outside with my good friend at Caphs in Manuka. Time to go and get some caches.
I had intended to try for some of the Goo caches, but a 3 km walk to the closest I hadn't found took the edge off that idea. Okay, continue on to Forde. There are still some up that end that I haven't found and this was one of them.
They were all found easily enough but some are in need of some TLC. Unfortunately I didn't have any decent size caches with me so maintenance wasn't done. Can I remember which ones require it?
Many thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining these caches for our enjoyment.

It's been a long while since we've done a caching marathon, so today we left The Woofer at home and headed out to Mulligans Flat. We spent just over 5 hours wandering the trails, found 43 caches, and encountered lots of wildlife. We left goodies in every container that would fit one. What a gorgeous place!
A nice easy find. TFTC!

While there were plenty of kangaroos about, there was a lack of pens as I left mine at the nearby Mailbox cache!

Out with Geosnag1 for a little Sunday caching as he is an injured runner for a little bit. Let him be in control of the Garmin whilst out today and taught him how to use it to find, makes notes and log caches. Geosnag1 mentioned he did enjoy using the Garmin caching a lot more than the phone for caching. Very lucky that he got me this little device. Nice to share a little caching time in our busy lives. We were lucky to find an echidna on our travels. It was a great day out – not too cold or too much wind.

I've got a plan to reach my 8000th find by the 29th but having another 300 to find i needed a couple of weekends in rich caching grounds. Just my luck that i chose to go to Canberra before seeing the temperature forecast!
I only had a few caches left to find on the way down, but once i got there, i hast plenty to choose from. Only the cold slowed me down.
In the end i managed to get 59.
Thanks for the cache.

Found with sami_180. Not too needing a stick to reach, but spiders around so be careful
Another small walk through Mulligan's Flat to collect any unfound caches.
I was a little worried about this one as I webt off-path and cross country to get to it. I thought the biggest problem would be snakes but there are a lot of spiders between the closer trees. The big stick I was carrying was perfect to pull the container out of it's hiding spot, this is a good example of where not to blindly stick your hands. TFTC growingupisoptional

#917 Twenty second of twenty five finds on a beautiful sunny Sunday's caching around the Canberra Centenary Trail and the Border Track. Nice find after a short search. TFTC
I was in the area last week but the electric fence kept me from getting here. For those following you need to be on the north side of the fence and the nearest gates are 200 to 400 m away. TFTC
Sometimes the simplest things are the most complicated!!!
Had fun searching, oh, its there!!

Me, TheSkype and 4 geokids had a brilliant day out in Mulligans flat Reserve, after a 12+ km walk finding caches. The weather turned out to be excellent after the current rains, and some parts of the reserve had water literally seeping out of the ground. TFTC.
#1696 The Green-martian & I decided to knock over some of these caches in this area. The weather was on our side with not a cloud in the sky. 5 hours, 12 kilometres, 35 caches, leaving some for next time. This cache was where we expected it to be. Thanks growingupisoptional.
Yay!
Back to collect this and a moveable nearby. overshot GZ (as I did last time), turned around and looked in the log.
It's not there! What!
Had a look around, and it's there. In a log.

5379 Found by baby&Mrs gopher with our torch holder CastleKay. After a DNF a couple of days ago Kangaroo got the better of baby. After laying awake for many hours figuring out how, the idea came. Originally the thought was to use some heavy wire. Too flexible. Went to one of the hardware outlets bought 2 pieces of dowel a right angle bracket and 2 hose clamps. Now we had a handle on things. With the bright torch the container was sighted. A twist here and a poke there and soon we were able to SL Tnx growingupisoptional. A couple of photos to show we did find.
Didn't find it 06/04/2016
This was a sighted but not signed. The cache is there but about 3/4 metres down the log. It can be seen with a bright torch which we always take with us but is not accessible.

I was asked to help with the find on this cache. Had lots of things to see and do on the walk in. Big kangaroo's and lots of birds this morning. I held the torch for baby and had fun helping to get this cache out of the log. TFTC .

Had a good look in, under and around GZ. Nothing to be found. Requires maintenance
This cache has had few NM and none has been done. Appears to be missing now too
Arrived at GZ, checked out all obvious places, but no dice. A nice place to stop and ponder though. That was nice. Thanks
I am doing per training as I am walking the AAWT (660kms). Geo-dad thought caching would take my mind of the 20kg backpack that I will have to take and add some fun for the day. TFTC
fitting title as there's so many roos in this part of the reserve right now so many babies too, very nice! tftc
