Needed a find to keep the run of a find a day going. This was todays. Left some logbook pages.
A big chunk of my childhood was spent on this estate. As a kid, the “main” house always felt magical & mysterious, so much history. Mum & Dad have known the owners for years with Mum growing up near their old house in Mt Eliza.
This was always going to be my first cache find. I really don’t know why I kept putting it off, probably because I know a lot of the muggles who use the property and always felt awkward stopping just in case they saw me!! I was so devastated when the DNF’s started rolling in , I thought for sure I has missed my chance to log a special find. I tried to contact CO but clearly they have left the game. Placing a temporary cache for them didn’t feel right to me, like the find shouldn’t be counted because I replaced it.
Well while I was overseas somebody had kindly put out a temporary in anticipation for the Mega & to them I am grateful that I can finally claim this special smiley.
I can clearly remember them filming Something in the Air, quite the set up, let’s you appreciate just how much effort goes into even the smallest of productions. This is also where my love of Eric Bana & Jeremy Lindsay Taylor stemmed from *wink wink*
Fun fact: They also filmed a few episodes of A Country Practice years before Something in the Air and the director wanted me as a baby in one of the scenes but Mum had just put me down for a nap!! Might have had a completely different career, who knows!!
A sentimental favourite point from me

our cache was found by Team BAMBI (Bushfire, Aussie M&M, mogni and brisal5 incognito) as part of the Melbourne Mega Event weekend. BAMBI to save space in the logs. Like the Melbourne event, this weekend was planned for months prior with more puzzles solved than we could possibly find the caches for in just 3 days. We thank all the C/Os and Event committee for making this a wonderful weekend for us. [^]
Day 2 at the event. Our target today to try and finish the C.F. caches and P.I.G. series and any other we just happen to be passing.
It was finally time to head back to our overnight digs. Just one more on the way back? Found what looks like a temp cache from someone visiting the mega. Found by torchlight after a very, very very long day. Not sure if was the actual cache though. We added out team name to the list! [^]
Thanks meganboon

Found with BAMBI while visiting Melbourne for the Mega event. One of many, many caches found over the weekend.
Thank you
Thank you
Leaving Geelong on my way to Carrum Downs to our cabin which was to be home for the next four days. Later that evening I was joined by three mates from SA (brisal5, moggi and Aussie M & M) and it was decided that we would cache under the name of “BAMBI” for the weekend to save space in all the log books plus it would be quicker. Our combined resources were very helpful enabling us to find some very fine caches.
I apologise for the generic log but with so many caches found I will say a great big thank to all the CO’s who placed these caches for us to find. This time next year I will be getting these logs as I have a number of caches in the Anglesea area. Today we are in this area finding as many PIGS and others that we can and then decided to attack this guy to finish the day. We will have to return and pick up the guys that we ran out of time to do.
Finally a word of thanks to the Melbourne Mega Committee people who did a great job in organising a great event.

My last find in Vic before I returned home.

After having fun at the MEGA yesterday, today I set out to tick off all of the CF puzzles I solved and any other straggler caches around the area. A lot of dust, a few scary areas of long grass and a lot of guard rails, by the end of the day I managed to find 30 caches. Though most were very simple finds, it was still very nice to get reward for effort for all of the puzzles solved in the week leading up to the event. This find was the 24th of 30 finds today.
I think I can count myself pretty lucky to find this one judging by the previous logs. Thanks to .K.B. for replacing it!
Thanks megabogan!

Looked unsuccessfully for quite some time before reading previous logs. Needs checking by CO
In anticipation of people visiting for the nearby event, a cache has been left at GZ since the owner has been unable to maintain the cache.
The cache appears to be in need of owner intervention.
I am temporarily disabling it, to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary.
Please respond to this situation in a timely manner (i.e., within 28 days) to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness.
If you require more time please be sure to post a note (not an email) explaining the situation and how much more time you require.
For ongoing issues please ensure you visit the page and post a note every 28 days to keep everyone up to date or the cache will be treated as an abandoned cache and archived without further notice.

I’ve been looking forward to my first MEGA event for a long time now so it was nice to get out there to meet lots of different people and find some high quality caches. Thanks to all the organisers for coordinating such a great event and for all the people who have placed such a variety of caches around the area to be found. I was attempting to find 10 different cache types in a day as well as attending my first Mega and CITO events so it was a tiring but fulfilling day.
A quick pre-fireworks raid on some of the nearby caches in fading light. I was joined at these by a couple of experienced cachers from New Zealand who were very good at spotting the needle in the haystack by torchlight. Thanks for the cache megabogan.

After completing the nearby P.I.G series, I decided to make a start on the C.F. series puzzles which I had solved prior to the trip
Swung by this one as well. Nope no joy. Yet another DNF statistic.
Thanks anyway, megabogan

I arrived and also found nothing. With people looking and not finding with previous finders I'm pretty sure it's not there.
CO hasn't logged on for a year and a half, so maybe this log should be a needs archiving?

Had another look here today, this time with gizmo and compass. No clue and no find. Dusty and sad.
Without the use of a gps and having 185 finds I thought this one would be an easy find. I was wrong. With geokids waking up in the car, I tried for a good half hour to halter this sucker, but to no avail. Going by the map I was in the right area, but could see no obvious tracks or spot where this one could be. Gave up and headed home to collect mummy from her friends place where she had been all afternoon while we headed out treasure finding.

Clearly we must be missing something here. Had a good look around, and found a perfect location to hide a cache, we nervously reach in for a feel around, but nothing.
What a great place for horse riders. What about the old homestead? Fantastic. My iPad was bouncing around a bit, so I went for my GPS. This took me to the spot. Cache was well hidden, so spent some time trying to locate it. Log signed, made a small swap and safely back again. As we were heading back to the car a group of pony riders with 2 dogs came over the hill. The dogs started barking and came through the fence. Thanks
Looks like a very nice homestead nearby, we could only dream thanx for bringing us here on the back roads
It has been quite a while since I was last here, and today it seemed to looked significantly different. Maybe it was a different environment, better eyes or just more experience, but today I walked right up to it.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
Day 4 was our final day of our South Gippsland holiday and caching adventure which saw us (me and the 4 & 6 year old geokids) exploring the back roads to Melbourne then onto Ballarat. Thanks for the history lesson here. Really interesting to read about this place. Many thanks for highlighting the area.
Found today with geohubby. Visiting relos so we decided to grab a couple of smilies while we where here. Tftc.
We came out on this road and I remembered there was still this cache here, so we grabbed it on the way home. A nice easy find on such a cold windy day.
The log was full in this cache, so we replaced it with on from a bison, so all good for a bit longer.
Thanks Megabogan.

Yeeha it was quite obviouse really in hindsight. A perfect end to the CITO day for me. Thanks to the Swaggies for being the taxi for the day.
Second find of the day on our way to Wilsons Prom for a much needed family break. This find was made after finding a suitable area for GeoUte and Camper Trailer to pull over. No muggles around today which was nice. Was great to see some horse jumps in the Estate. Reminded me of my childhood where I was dragged from horse event to horse event where my father would compete almost every weekend. Having said that I probably came here for an event in my childhood when in was 6 or 7 years old. Thanks for bringing me here Megabogan and TFTC!
Quick search while watching the road and the farmer, all done and dusted and out of there in about 10 minutes. TFTC SL
Found with Rangerdf

On a quick run to pick up Mr MoorooducRobbos at Tooradin so of course with the extra minutes until he arrived I went caching. The estate looked impressive from the road and thankfully the riders were too busy with their exercise to pay much attention to me. Interesting to see that others have gone before me recently so that the way to help find the cache was to follow the geotrail and look in the area that didn't appear to have been disturbed! TFTC
TFTC a nice easy one to do on the way home left a peg - log full

Travelling home from a day spent caching in Wonthaggi and we chose a cache or two every now and then so I could get out and have stretch
Interesting spot and after the rain its was really lush green and pretty. For a back road it ended up being peak traffic....well that's what it felt like because 3 cars went past lol
A nice easy P&G that allowed us to keep moving without taking to much time.
Thanks for the cache and pointing out the history of this estate

We came to Wonthaggi for the weekend for the mid year dinner event from Ballarat with passenger misscheif18 from Bacchus Marsh.
We found your cache Tooradin Estate on 6/07/2014 2:36 pm. This is our find #3906 and find #16 today.
Found after an extensive search, we were about to give up and were heading towards the car when the well hidden cache was found.
The cache is in good shape.

#6026 We were meandering our way home from Wonthaggi to Albury via a cache here and there. We thought that this dirt road was a quiet one as we navigated our way to GZ. As soon as we got there, a flow of traffic started going by, it seems to be quite a popular road. After negotiating some very long and damp grass we were able to locate the cache which was well hidden and in good condition. Nice to have a brief read of the construction of Tooradin House via the second link provided in the cache page. Our thanks to megabogan for the cache and history. Cheers [^]
Found with highrod on the way home from Wonthaggi. Made this one much harder than it should have been. Well hidden. Left friendship braid. TFTC
Found this on night hunt with mortergrants. A quick easy find. Needs new log. Tftc
After Mr 1big looked for the cache and couldn't find it, Mrs 1 big got out of the car and walked straight over to it. Doh! Took coin, left basketball clip. SL. TFTC. The old house looks amazing from a distance.
Another Awesome Autumn day and school holidays and asked the kids what they wanted to do.. Sillly Question really GEOCACHE of course.
After caching in the area we were heading home (much to the protest of the kids.. who wanted more more more) so we thought while the sun was up (and it is school holidays) lets see how many more we can find....
Nearly gave up on this one and went to walk away and turned around and there it was...
thanks for the cache

Found with Bogonghazy at 12.32pm enroute to Wonthaggi for the upcoming Weekend Events. I have a childhood memory of visiting friends of my folks down here when I was a child. Back then, as a child, it felt like it took all day to get there from Ballarat. There was no such thing as Freeways, Town By Passes and 110km limits back then either, so it probably did take longer than it took me today. Thanks to Megabogan for the cache and for bringing us here.
An inquisitive spider made the retrieval a little awkward.
Thanks megabogan.

Found this one quickly but I can see how you could look & not see it. The grass is so long it makes an easy find hard. All I can say is go with your gut instinct & you will be rewarded. Left butterfly & bee. Took green paper clip. TFTC SL
A quick easy find. Also a great view of the beautiful old homestead perched on top of the hill.
Found it with +Wife and fishingforgirls first find. Took kiss button left gold button. SL TFTC megabogan. Big mosquitoes!!
In the area today with BorisB&Natasha for another fun day of caching. This one had us both going in circles. Lucky for me I had one last look and there it was.

Out for a fantastic day of caching with Nut bear today and have to admit we struggled with this one. We're just getting back into the car when Nut bear decided to have one more look in a place we had both looked at ............ And there it was. strange how that happens sometimes.

Found today after having a quick look months ago when muggles showed up, but today all ok with the find. TFTC
Thwarted by long grass and mosquitoes on my previous attempts, today I found that the long dry spell had caused the grass to dry out and die off. In addition, the grass had been mown within the last four weeks. The combination of these factors made this a quick and easy driveby today. So glad to finally cross this one off my ToDo list. TNLN SL TFTC
Nearly didn't stop as the number of DNFs that have been logged did not give much confidence. Glad I did as after a quick search the cache jumped out at me from the second place I looked. Surprised me to be honest, as it was not hidden all that well. Cache is dry and in great health. TNLNSL TFTC Kems
Not found for 3 months and several DNF's during that time. Could the CO please check that this cache is still in place? TIA
