It is time to put this event to rest.

Currently there are still 5 travellers still logged into the event.

Thanks you to all who participated. I had a great time organising it and putting out the new caches in the area.

My thanks must go to all the people who turned up and celebrated a milestone in Queensland geocaching history.

Looking forward to the next 10 years.

YOU MAY WANT TO CHECK WITH JUST A TRIFLE REGUARDING THE TBS AND COINS IN QUESTION.
IT SEEMS THEY HAVE BEEN TAKING SOME TRAVELERS, NOT "RETRIEVING" THEM AND NOT "PLACING" THEM ANYWHERE.
I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET AHOLD OF THEM BECAUSE THEY HAVE MY MISSION THAT WAS SENT TO THEM AND HAVEN'T MARKED IT "RETRIEVED" OR "SENT OUT" SEVERAL OF US HAVE TRIED TO GET AHOLD OF THEM. THEY ARE GETTING EMAILS FROM GC.COM BECAUSE THEY STATED THAT THEY RECIEVED THE NEW CACHES EMAIL, SO WE KNOW THEY GOT OUR EMAILS AND ARE IGNORING US.
IF YOU SHOULD SEE HER, PLEASE TELL HER TO CONTACT US, THANX,
OPALSNS

Doh. I was looking forward to attending however other matters family had overtaken the event. Sad Great to see that everyone had a good time and the day was a perfect QLD day for the event, considering the past week or so.

19-Oct-10
I have scanned the lists of trackables that were on the table at the event and also the lists from Gunnie69 and MightyMouse09..

I do not want to publish them openly as I respect the security of the tracking numbers for the owners.

If you wish a copy of the lists please email me through the GC site and I will forward them to you .

Also If you have taken trackables from the event, please log them out as there is still quite a few in there.

Happy Hunting

Max

This was my first caching event and I thoroughly enjoyed attending it. I will hopefully attend more in the future. It was very nice to finally put some names to faces. The event was amazing and it was great to see so many people attend the event. The trek to this cache was quite unique as I have never had to stand in line to write a log at a cache before. A huge thanks to Max (Crew 153) for all the effort you put into organizing this event. Big Grin

Miss Rogainer #2 & I attended today on what was a good event blessed with some nice weather.
It was good to catch up with many familiar faces and meet a few new faces.
We enjoyed the stroll through to the cache which started it all and the anniversary cache as well - and the cake afterwardsSmile
Hard to believe caching has been around 10 years already - in another month, I'll be entering my 10th year of caching too!

Thanks Max for all your efforts - much appreciated.

17-Oct-10
Behind the scenes of this well organised and very well attended event, were a few milestones that managed to coincidentally align... [^]

Baroki Scout who introduced me to this game achieved her 500th find with her Partner VWNuts reaching the big 1K... Big Grin PigWig2 snuck in her 500th and although not the typical milestone, Svn07 (Pronounced Seven O seven) made this Cache find number 707... [^]

After a morning doing the rounds of Karawatha, I arrived at the event to be astounded by the number of attendees... Hats off Crew153, you drew the crowds like never before... The pilgrimage to GC8E was akin watching lemmings, although each hunter shared the same mission... Wink

Back at GZ the stories were plentiful and as always, the gathering presented a great opportunity to catch up with familiar faces and put names to new ones. Something unique to this event though was the splendour of an anniversary event "Cake"... That was a work of art and quite tasty I must say... Big Grin

If there was a down side, it would be the fact the my morning spent turning the forest icons into smilies, was swiftly undone with the release of your new caches... Grrr... Twisted

A job well done Max, thanks for a fantastic effort. I am proud to have achieved my 2000th find with this event... Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin

There are currently more than half a milllion geocaches hidden around the world, and more than 31,000 active cache locations listed across Australia.

In 2000 there were 2 listed Geocache sites in Queensland with total active location listings today numbering over 5000. It took 2 months before anyone logged a find on the web for the nearby Queens Land cache, today some caches are found and a log posted within 30 mins of being published on the geocaching website.

In 2002 there were 70 active caching identities who found and logged a find on caches in Queensland and there were 63 new geocaches hidden that year.

At the end of 2006 there were 700 different active caching identities from Queensland, Interstate and across the world who logged finds in the Stae of Queensland, 954 new caces were hidden that yearBig Grin

To date in 2010, there are over 1900 active identities (individuals/teams/families) known to be participating in the activity in Queensland. This includes International and interstate visitors coming to Queensland. As an example earlier this year two German geocachers visited in Australia was to attend a geocaching organised event at Stradbroke Island within 12 hours of arriving in Brisbane.

In 2009 there were 1,773 new caches listed in Queensland.

Maureen and Brian you should be proud of being part of something special. We also need to thank tonyjago who had the original Queens Land cache re-activated in 2003 after it was destroyed in a fire and Crew 153 who also kept this site alive in 2009. Big Grin

636 - What a well organised and well attended event. We got there later than we had hoped due to Brissy Guy Junior's work commitments but arrived at about 1:30pm just in time to see If and Rastas jointly cutting the birthday cake. As I log this event, I am looking at the picture taken earlier in the day, and am surprised to see how many more people were there earlier in the day. A great event, shame we couldn't get there any earlier. Thanks for your hard work Crew 13 Smile and happy birthday to geocaching in Queensland.

17-Oct-10
Other logs give all the details. A great day and a great event. Glad to make it to the first Qld cache at last. Good to see so many faces I know and to meet new ones. Particularly glad to see Miss Geosie, possibly our youngest cacher at these events. Even got birthday presents from cacher friends! The only blot on bristracker's day was the bristracker boot blowout but she still managed to get through the day with dry feet - no mean feat given the state of some tracks. Thanks especially Crew-man and the rest of the Crew. ******Love Your Sport******

17-Oct-10
Very happily logging our attendance at this great birthday bash today. It was very well organized and we really appreciated all the effort that went in to organizing such a large event. Great work Crew153. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The cake was delicious too! We'd not done any caches in this area before and hadn't done this original cache. We were pleased to hear people talk about it's start and it's history. Thanks to the log, 2 previous to mine, Gunnie69 (?) for his interesting stats. What a growth. Makes us proud to be QUEENSLANDER(S)! It was also fun to meet up with lots of new geocachers, and also to catch up with some met previously. Great attendance. Thanks heaps!

What a wonderful we all had. Plus the sun shone for the WHOLE day. Many thanks to Max for organising the day. Thank you also to Carolyn (Mrs Max) for your assistance.
At least Mr L&L and I have a few caches near to home now that we can find without having to drive for 20+km!!! Thanks Max.

17-Oct-10
Great event and big thanks to Crew 153 for excellent organisation and all those new caches.

17-Oct-10
Many thanks for a great day and to catch up with many old and new friends. Will now have a face to put to the log-in names. TFTE

17-Oct-10
What a day! An excellent way to commemorate 10 years, while enjoying the company of faces familiar and new. A great time was had by all. MissGeosie loved the puppydogs (not to mention Deco's storytelling!) and the trek to GC8E was definitely a special experience (even if our feet did get a bit wet!) We would have liked to find all the new caches but alas we didn't get a chance today. Next time...

Thanks very much to Crew153 for organising the day and for planting all those new caches out there. A most excellent event it was! [^]

17-Oct-10
Thanks to Crew 153 for organising a great event, especially to Max who made me very welcome... and somehow managed to pull my name out of the hat for a head start on one of the new caches hidden for the event.

17-Oct-10
Thanks MAX for putting on another great day, good to catch up with old faces. Even though a bit wet under foot in some places it did not dampen anyones spirits. Once again thanks Crew 53

17-Oct-10
Thanks Max for an extremely well organised event. You must have put a lot of work in placing all those caches and all the other bits and pieces. Of course I'm particularly pleased for the opportunity to beat Totalube to a FTF. Thanks again for a great day.

17-Oct-10
Thanks for organising this great day. I've never seen so geocache tb on cars and tshirts, good to meet a few of u.

17-Oct-10
Happy birthday cache Queens land. You've hit the big one oh at last Big Grin. Lots of folks milling around today, finding caches, swapping war stories and enjoying the huge array of homemade goodies. Good job Max on organising the event and the weather - you must have friends in high places Wink. I grabbed a couple of lonely trackables at the event and even heard a clue for a nasty puzzle I'm having trouble with.

17-Oct-10
Great company, great food, great weather. Thanks Crew 153 for all your work in making today's 10th Anniversary such an outstanding success. Great Job.

17-Oct-10
This was my first caching event and it sure won't be the last! I met some great people and got to put faces to names I've seen online and in many logbooks in caches all over the place. The event itself was amazing, so many people attended, and everyone was friendly and keen to meet people and share stories. This is yet another amazing side of geocaching. The pilgrimage to the Queens Land cache was quite an experience. I'm used to the steath mode of caching, so to have a huge group lining up to sign the log book was a very different experience. A huge thanks to Max (Crew 153) for all the effort you put into organising this. And thanks for the ammo boxes, you can never have to many of them Big Grin

17-Oct-10
Thanks very much Max (Crew 153). You had put a lot of good work in to make such a successful day.

Cyndi and I enjoyed meeting old and new friends.

17-Oct-10

Thanks for the event Crew153. Cheers, svn07

17-Oct-10
Thanks Max for a great event. This was my 500th find, and VWNuts and I celebrated our 10th Wedding Anniversary as well as both of our birthdays... yep, 17th Oct is a very busy day for us. What better way than to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Queenslands first geocache. Also made the pilgrimage to "Queens Land" with the group.
Ta Much

17-Oct-10
What a great turn out for the 10th Anniversary of the 1st cache placed in Qld. Bit wet underfoot but the enthusiasm and conversation of the attendees more than made up for the mud. Thanks Crew 153 for all the hard work in organizing the event. You did well !!! TFTC

It was great to catch up with cachers that I had run into at other events and also in search of other Gold Coast caches...... and meet others who's names I had seen when caching.

I will see if I got any decent photos of the event and add them.

We did a bit of treking and tracked down a few of the new caches but will have to return someday to find the rest of the caches.

The best laid plans of mice and madmyers!! The two Mads who have spent a week in Canberra at a school camp were not very awake or good at organising things this morning. Before we knew it - 11 had arrived and whilst lunch was packed - no pocket query loaded - PDA battery flat - GPS batteries needed charging - need I go on??? Hope you all have a great time and wish the energy levels and organisational skills were higher so we were there with you!!
