This weekend, I joined gridge98 on a trip to Eyre Peninsula, primarily visiting Port Lincoln and its surroundings. We saw its famous marina full of trawlers, and we also ended up visiting Coffin Bay and enjoyed fresh oysters. A nice weekend with weather, and certainly a great vicinity to see.
Today leaving Whyalla, we headed down the Lincoln Highway, passing through Cowell, Cleve, Arno Bay, Port Neill, and Tumby Bay. Just prior to lunch, we also completed the *Cleve Cleaver* geoart trail. A rather long day of geocaching numbers, but the inland and coastal towns were enjoyable to visit, along with the various picturesque beaches along the way.
With the previous few DNFs and notes, we figured that we may be able to locate the cache and extract it from its hidey hole. However a diligent search peeking into all the possible hiding spots couldn't actually locate the cache anyway. Hmm, perhaps it has been cleaned up by locals, or just too good for us today. Thanks anyway cslyoda and cincol.

Cache is NOT missing. I "found" it but could not retrieve it. It eas wedged in too far and too tight.
If someone has a long straight stick, or maybe a coat hanger, they might have better luck.

3.5.19 TFTC Stayed overnight on way to Dads 90th party at Cummins. Enjoying the slower trip with van, looking around as we go.
Found whilst out riding our bikes. Cache needs so maintenance as it’s lost it’s lid. TFYC
Having a spot of lunch at the bakery and thought, I bet there’s a geocache here. Found it very quickly.
Boxing Day pee stop turned into a cache stop. Found by DWRory. Log has seen better days but the stump looks OK - tishboom. TFTC
On a day trip from Whyalla. Looked all over the stump, then followed the GPS to find it. TFTC
Travelling Australia since March 2014 it has been a while since in SA but enjoying this visit greatly.
We moved today to Cowell then headed out to explore the local area using Geocaching as a guide. Windy and rainy still so the GeoCruiser is covered in red mud [8)] from all the slipping and sliding.

I liked the story behind this, took a couple of minutes, bakery had no bread, no rolls and no pasties!
Found your cache this afternoon whilst having some lunch from the local bakery.

Amazing tree stump and story. Found the cache after a short search. The log was becoming quite mushy. Have replaced it with a new one and popped it into a plastic bag to keep it dry. All good to go for a while. TFTC
[:(!] Thanks for an awesome effort.
I like it
Another one off the list

Took a while until we read some of the others posts and redefined our search.
Found with Rowena_S and Restless Jilleroo on a day trip to Cowell. Great shop across the corner called Cowell Collectables - amazing stuff there. TFTC.
Found with restless jillaroo and KoalaSandy. First collectable found! TFTC Took coin left smiley
Took some thinking time. Found at last minute before heading to Port Lincoln TFTC
Another quick find - once you realise where it isn't! Log has dried out and able to sign it tho it's a bit tattered. TFTC
Found It!! But first we needed some lunch. Got Some food from the Bakery and went across the road next to the cache. After we looked around the tree stump and didn't see any cache, but some really good spots. Went back for a drink and found it. Opened it up and saw a logbook jammed into the container. The cache needs a new logbook and updated coordinates. TFTC cslyoda + cincol!!
Muggled methinks. No cache but like the blow flys round the black stump you can see where it's been.
Thanks for the Cache. Enjoyed the read about the stump, enjoyed the seat for a rest too.
After I took a breath and read a bit....being a Sunday muggle arvo.......I sat and contemplated and soon had a smiley in hand. TFTC
Missed this one a couple of years ago when Mr DISK was here, but it didn't take long to find today .
TNLNSL.
An interesting little story - just the sort of thing you would expect from a country town .
Thanks Cslyoda + cincol.

#1222 First of thirty nine finds on Day 12 of my South Australian geocaching road trip. Nice easy find after a short search. TFTC
A good find here, found on a day's road trip from/to Whyalla, on the final leg back to base now. Logbook a bit wet.

Back again, found it this time, could've sworn we'd looked everywhere last time! Ah well the Cowell bakery's made a fortune out of us looking for this one tftc
Easy to find even in the dark on the way back from Pt Lincoln. Nice meal at the pub tool!
Looking in all the wrong holes - thanks for the find (which was actually made by our muggle friends) thanks for the find
We called in here today on our journey to Port Lincoln. A nice little town. tftc.
Hi there cslyoda.
We found your cache **"Black Stump"** at 12:03:00 PM today. This cache makes our find count 13811.
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip around the local area today. We usually start the day off by nominating a cache some distance away from our camp site and then take a route mainly determined by the next closest cache according to our GPS. Today we thought that it would be nice to visit Lucky Bay to where the ferry might come back to one day.
We ended up finding 11 & DNFing 1 caches today.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found your cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** Cache needed some maintenance, so we made the repair and restored the cache.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Found it in the rain, container is broken and log was on the ground a soggy mess... Tried to resurrect it but not sure how successful we were...
Eventually found this with help from recent activity. Only found half of the container though so will need maintenance. Log was sadly missing TFTC #61
We did eventually find this cache, but unfortunately the little container is broken and the log was missing. We have placed another temporary log there for you and used a rubber band to adhere it to the container before using the velcro to return it to its hiding spot.
Cowell is a lovely spot to visit...we did have fun climbing around the stump ...despite it NOT being on the stump!
Found whilst on a fabulous Easter long weekend caching trip with CPwanderer travelling from Adelaide to the Eyre Peninsula. Our day has been filled with lots of fun, laughter, adventures, driving along dirt tracks with heaps of corrugations, and even searching for somewhere open for us to buy dinner on Good Friday.....an almost impossible task!
Thanks for the cache cslyoda + cincol

Off on a caching adventure with GoodLook on the Easter long weekend!! We had perfect weather and, for the route we were taking, surprisingly little traffic! Our target was the Cleve Cowell area althouth we started way before this. Our biggest challenge was the lack of anything open, apart from roadhouses, on the Friday and Saturday!!
We did what we could to maintain this but it does need a new container. .... see GoodLook's log!

Just perusing past cache victories for inspiration when I noticed "fatmat83"s cache finder's log
Um ?? What on Earth does that mean ?? [:o][?]
"Boil Ads ??" [:o]

With school holidays almost over we decided on an impromptu "why not day" road trip to Cowell. Geo-boy found quickly - great micro idea!
I can imagine a few people have sat in this stump on the way home from the pub!
Found with PBandJam. TFTC!

Ah yes !! The black stump of Cowell
I have looked for this cache a few times over last two years without success
Yesterday, while the bakery was in full swing at lunchtime, I looked again
A more thorough look that time and ...
... failed to find the cache
This morning to celebrate Australia Day, I made this the first cache of the day to look for, and I wasn't leaving 'til I found it
As expected, most of the town was assembled down by the boat ramp for a BBQ.
The bakery was closed, and the scene at GZ was deserted, save for the stump
Me research last night convinced me that I knew where the cache was hidden
It wasn't
In a genius stroke of desperation I looked somewhere bl@@dy obvious and there was the cache staring back at me in all its [green]green[/green] and [yellow]golden[/yellow] glory [:o]
Aussie, Aussie,Aussie ...
Oi Oi Oi !!
