Another day of our celebrations of birthday week for the cats, Purrfect Di and Mattycat kept on birthday caching to see what we could unwrap in the way of iron triangle log books. Yours was one we found along the way, with the help of Jack. Good fun time for all and an insight into the impact of mint tins on the aussie steel industry [:o)] Most finds were straightforwad, some were a little obscure, and some were just rusting away!!! A good way to keep fit on a warm day.

Quick find here. Nice views everywhere.

Sincere thanks to cslyoda for placing and maintaining this cache on our geo game map Cool

[:o)]

We must note that we certainly do appreciate the way those mint tins age to blend in with the rusty outback earth!!! Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, plastic cracks and mint tins rust!
---

Searching around every day finding and signing using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Whereyougo, Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S20+, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just plain old dumb luck WinkCoolBig Grin Quite a lot of that actually!!!
*Logs are composed and published using GSAK of course.*

---

Please do stay as safe as possible when caching.
Keep a lookout for bogs, snakes, surprise cliffs, boxing roos, wombats, bulldust, and floods,
try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins and don't fall out of trees...
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- but especially lookout for bugs from alpha to omega !!! . [xx(]

Try to keep Travel Bugs as the only bugs you share and pass on Big Grin
Now our borders are open - even more important to sanitise and safely distance!!!

Much appreciation of all those placing quality caches out and about around the countryside,
in sensible safe places especially! - it keeps our game safe, fun, and interesting Cool

TFTC. Day 2 of our Whyalla geocaching trip and we decided to tackle the FTF - PT series from Whyalla to Iron Knob.

Having previously completed the Iron Knob end of the trail, it was time to do the rest!

Unless already logged with a “note”, caches and logs were in good condition.

Happy caching and safe travels!

Goal to pick up approx 40. Quite the marathon with muggle husband. This will be a generic post. A couple I couldn’t get lids off or were too wet or no logs. Unfortunately I wasn’t prepared. Was a last minute decision. Thank you for taking the time & placing them. Tftc

Today was a big day of caching on my bike on the Iron Knob road. Geohusband and the hound were vehicle assisting me in the motor home. It was great for my morning tea and lunch stops. Cycled about 15kms and found about 50 caches for the day.
Finished the day in the city collecting a couple of must do caches and dinner at the pub. Our friends think we are mad having a day of our holidays in Whyalla but they don’t geocache .
TFTC and being a part of this great series.

This weekend, I headed to Whyalla to catch up with a few other Geocachers and attempt some of the trails there. On Saturday, we targeted the FTF power trail from Whyalla to Iron Knob, and then spent the evening and the subsequent morning driving some of Whyalla's back tracks. On Sunday, I visited Cowleds Landing and back north, only to get severely bogged in one of Whyalla's clay pans. I then returned home via the August series.

Today, I joined hevwalker and scramping with our goal to complete the FTF power trail. We got 75% through before taking a break for lunch in Iron Knob, and then completed the remaining geocaches, finishing in the early afternoon. We then visited the new Whyalla circular jetty, and then had dinner at the Eyre Hotel geocaching event. Finally, we headed out for a quick stop at Whyalla Conservation Park, and then headed around the tracks around the levee finding miscellaneous geocaches, all within a nice and balmy evening.

A quickish find at this location. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks cslyoda & cincol for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

On hevwalker and our Whyalla holiday.....Davidwazza joined us for a fun day of caching..... with clear skies and warm weather we set off with the aim to do some of the FTF power trail. Our plan was to get as many as possible in the day. My aim was to beat my previous record of 106 in a day.....yes...smashed it thanks to my friends and our quick finds. TFTC

Today Davidwazza joined us as we set about finding all the caches in the FTF PT series and any others that got in our way Wink This was one of those but great to find it among the others...
Most of the caches we located quickly and easily...I did say most...the rest took a minute or 2 more...

A quick find here as I head back into town on the FTF trail...

Spending a few days in Whyalla and found a few cache, or 300!
Had managed to solve all the puzzles before coming over too.
Of the nearly 300 found on the trip over and back from Adelaide, 95% were found within 50km of Whyalla Central, with approx a dozen dnfs also. Amongst all the finds was my 17000th find.
Also managed a lot of 'unloved' finds too.
What is it with Whyalla and mint tins? lol

Day 5 of the Perth to Adelaide trip where we started in Whyalla and ended in Adelaide.

Today was about finding as many caches as possible and starting / warming up to the larger power trails that bought us over here.
We completed the FTF series and the Letterbox caches.

During the morning we found the majority of the days caches, some highly favourited first up also.

Anyway the day has time limitations to it as we were hosting an event that started at 6pm and as it were we made it there at 5.59pm so early however the crowd of people there before us was rather pleasing.

It was great to see so much energy around Geocaching at the event the Adelaide teams really know how to impress and greet the visitors with a beer, thanks Freddo!

cslyoda I found your cache View 110 thanks for placing this hide for myself and others to find.

Day 5 of Barnzy and Cravo’s trip from Perth to Adelaide.

Today we travelled from Whyalla to Adelaide via a number of country towns.

We started bright and early just before sunrise to pickup a couple of caches North of Whyalla that had some high favourite points which had tickled our fancy.

We then moved our attention to the FTF power trail, which started just out of Whyalla and took us all the way to Iron Knob. Found a good variety of difficulty and terrain combinations along the trail, with some interesting hiding spots. There were a couple of DNFs and caches that took a while to find which stretched out the time taken to complete the series.

We eventually made our way to Iron Knob and picked up the couple of caches around town which were quite nice in a very small mining town.

We were pushing the time factor quite hard, so skipped a fair few caches, but had to stop in at Port Germain to grab the aptly names Port Germain cache, which filled in a spot on the Jasmer grid, and its where I rolled my ankle running back to the car which made things a bit difficult for the rest of the day.

The other main target for the day was the Postman Pat Letterbox Hybrid Series, which were great quick finds of nicely sized containers.

We left the LBH trail and made our way to quickly check into the accomodation and made our way to our event in Lights Square “Sandgropers in the City”, which we made it to exactly one minute before it started, but a good sized crowd was already waiting to greet us, which was really nice as it was at last minute we had the event published.

It was great to finally put some faces to names we’ve only seen in logs, in particular the SA legend Freddo and TeamAstro. It was very interesting learning of the large scale model of the solar system, of which we had found one of the caches on the Nullarbor on our way over.

After bidding farewell to the event attendees we grabbed a bite of food and walked around the CBD caching, with mixed results.

8/55 for today - my best day so far.
Whyalla to Iron Knob through to Renmark. Stopping whenever I felt like it, wherever I felt like it, if there was a cache nearby anyway.
I drove past a lot but didn't have time to get them all!

I didn't stop for a lot of these caches but enough to give me a good head start for the day.

Thanks

Since moving from New Zealand I have been enjoying the area, exploring and finding caches.
So far I’ve knocked off 4 of the states. VIC, SA, NSW and A.C.T
No two areas are the same here and almost every place I go is stunning. The beauty of caching is that it takes you to so many places you would never usually find.
Thank you to all the cachers out there for hiding and maintaining their caches. Especially to those who put so much effort into creating unique and fun hides.
The caches I’ve found in Australia so far have for the most part all been in great condition. Keep up the good work.

Found it with TICE [Hiltsu, J&T, kapeka & laalaa]

We had fun with caching few weeks here in Australia ( South Australia and Northern Territory ). Lots of geocaches and many sort of them too. We saw awesome places, weather was good all the time and people were friendly and polite. Caches were pretty similar like in our home country. Of course there were some exeptions. Nice and huge country!

Team ICE on a two week geocaching trip in Australia. Our main target was the Red Centre Experience at Alice Springs but of course we did some caching in other places too. We drove from Adelaide to Alice Springs and then back. We saw lots of interesting and beutiful places like opal mines at Coober Pedy, Ayers Rock and Kata Tjuta. Our rental travelled almost 6500km on gravel and tarmac roads. The weather was great, only on last day we got some rain.

All the caches logged as Team Ice, T-ice or Tice with kapeka, laalaa and Hiltsu. We had a great trip!

Today our journey continued from Port Augusta to Whyalla and back. Some trail caches and others logged on the way.

Thanks for the cache and greetings from Finland!

I would like to thank cslyoda for placing this cache. I always enjoy getting out and about to view this great country of ours and caching allows me to do that. Day Eight of the WA road trip with BettyBoo3747. Today we hit the FTF power trail that runs out of Whyalla towards Iron Knob. We also grabbed a handful of other caches on the way.
We started at #81 and worked our way back to #30 then went back into Whyalla for lunch. After lunch we came back out and did a few more, not quite completing the series, but enough for us today.
The weather was lovely - overcast and a slight breeze, very nice for jumping in and out of the car.
A good collection of nice sized caches and interesting hides.
Just one thing - take BB's advice and don't do what she did and wear shorts for this series Smile

Just a cache that got rolled up with the trail. It is a nice view from here.

# 7749. Our second day in Whyalla and with grey skies, a mild temperature and a cooling breeze Robmc and I put plan A into action. This consisted of driving out to #81 and working our way back to town. We enjoyed morning tea in the shade on the side road before stopping at #30 and going back to our cabin for a couple of hours. We then returned and tackled most of the rest. We also grabbed a few others that were along the road. As we started at 8.30am and did the last ones around 5.00pm it did turn out to be a rather long and tiring day.

There were certainly a few cute, bizarre or unexpected hides amongst the routine ones of tubes and eclipse tins. Bisons were certainly rarer than anticipated which is probably a good thing as we made hard work of locating these today. Keep eating those Fish Oil Tablets - they make good-sized containers.

As with the other hides along the trail at these poles this cache needs a maintenance check and a new log.

Thanks cslyoda

Touring Australia having left Perth in late February we are leisurely touring South Australia after having attended Oz Mega. Big Grin

Today we found the weather very warm for tackling this 'power trail' the hides were considerably more difficult than we had anticipated and it took us all day to complete most of the series.

We can only thank our cache mates iluvtrekking as we (FelixII) were both completely over it by 1pm.

The combination of heat/tiredness/DNF's and frustration were mounting.but whilst that may sound negative we actually don't like standard power trails so hmm seems we just are too hard to please really Im thinking. [:o)]

In the end I think if we had tackled this trail over 2 days we would have found it more enjoyable. There was a nice variety of hides and camo's spread amongst the many.

Yorkshirekiwi83 and I are in South Australia, visiting from New Zealand for the Aussie Mega. Today we teamed up with Funkymunkyzone and Slieschke and headed down to Whyalla for the day, from Port Augusta, picking up a few caches along the way. For simplicity in signing the logs, we adopted a team name of "FYVS" meaning Funkymunkyzone, Yorkshirekiwi83, Vistra & Slieschke. After arrival in Whyalla we then headed out to do part of the FTF trail, finding most caches, but also DNF'ing a few also! Thanks for the cache!
