Finally got the courage to pull over in this place. With the flashy lights on, I donned my high viz, so it looked like I was inspecting the road where it had slipped away in the recent cyclone. It really was a dangerous place to bring people, especially with the unstable slip mere meters away from GZ (wherever that was) and the road reduced to one lane at this point. I looked in many places as the location was not so obvious. Eventually, I narrowed the search down to where a small tree used to be and a possible hiding spot, but no cache was found. If this was lost, hopefully, CO would find a more responsible and less awkward place to stop.
Today we are on the way from Whitianga to Auckland. We also visited this tradi, found it, and signed the logbook.

Today I was driving around the Coromandel but the weather was not nice. So many caches I could not do.
Many thanks to all the Owner.
Many thanks to all the Owner.
Quick find as we parked just 2m from it. The cache was a bit exposed so recovered it better
Found relatively easy, walked all the way from the top of Puriri road to here… looked at the cars that had crashed at the bottom of the valley and carried three big and HEAVY road signs I found in the paddock, along with all the rubbish I could carry out with me. Was a bit of water with cache, which I made sure to empty out, cool spot.
CO might think my recent cache placement was evil, but this one is just in a crazy location. Yes it has a nice view but a dangerous place for anyone to pull off the road. Even with a flashing light on my ute and very little traffic, I thought it was too dangerous to stop. Might try the attempt when I am feeling braver and don't have to get to a job soon.
2.30pm. We have been through here a few times before and never wanted to stop in a not so safe place. But today we came up from Coromandel and checked it out seeing there is room tp pull off coming down the hill. An easy find that is good to cross off the list.
Thank you. David and Noeline.

Our last cache for the day. Found on our way back to Coromandel late this evening. Cheers .
Day 5 - Tuesday 22 December -Paritu Bay, Coromandel, Thames and back to Coromandel by dark Left Zara resting in Coromandel while we went exploring with Toby. Loved Driving Creek Railway today.
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

Found this late at night on the way back north from Thames, after missing it on the way down.
Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs (60 caches), 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk a lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

After checking the other type of posts I then looked at another one and there it was. In a bit of a rush as a very tricky spot for a large vehicle to park. Thanks for the cache boges
Out and about for a few days for a bit of a road trip around the Coromandel area. Day Three of my road trip. I started my travels in Whitianga and ended my day in Coromandel Town. I parked a little way up the road and carefully walked back down to the cache. Found in the first place I checked. TFTC, Biggles.
Day two and TEAM BOP has disbanded leaving TNXPro and myself to our own devices. I really wanted to sort Coromandels West coast so we left Tairua and took the Tapu-Coroglen Road in search of the ever elusive - geocaches.
This was our 7th stop and I had a bit of fun here almost managing to get the cache without leaving the car. The cache was found quickly and in good condition thanks to accurate coords and a straight forward placement. Cheers Boges, TFTC

Oops, this was not the cache that gorby wanted to stop at but ok, at least I can find it!
Out and about aiming for a couple of caches for the GeoTour and Jasmer challenge...
Grabbed this on the way down to Thames. Took a moment, before I found it hiding in amongst the camo.
Thanks for bringing me here, Boges! TFTC, #2074

Yes only a small pull over but the view of the bay was good The log was very wet so i replaced it with new water proof temp paper.
We travelled north and are holidaying in and around the Coromandel staying in motels, with friends and in our tent while getting out each day to see the sights, swim in the beautiful beaches or go for walks etc as well as locating a few geocaches, of course. We have had good weather the whole time with just a few showers at night and some wind while at hahei.
Thank you for this cache to all the Cache owners and another smiley face.

Too dangerous to pull over on this windy road…. Don't understand this hide for this reason...
The Central North Island, Day 1: Auckland - Coromandel
Today we headed out for our last great adventure in New Zealand, which was to cover The Central North Island, as far down as Ruapehu. We set off from Auckland on an overcast day, and was met with rain for the better part of the morning and afternoon. That still didn’t stop me from caching, as I had been well-prepared with a raincoat and picked up only the easier ones. As the rain cleared up, there was a nice stiff breeze that accompanied me in my hunts along the Thames Coast of the Coromandel Peninsula. A relatively good, if somewhat damp day, overall.
The following is the specific log for each cache:
We had actually overshot the spot and I had to backtrack up the road to get to the cache. Nice views here, as promised, but the cache is a little wet and the logsheet was soggy. TFTC!

Our third visit to this beautiful country and this time for a family wedding in Tutukaka. After that we will travel south exploring and finding some caches along the way.
Signed and replaced all of them as we found them.
Thanks to the CO's for placing these caches and keeping the game alive.
Needs maintenance

Found this cache on our way to Coromandel town. The weather was not so good. But the view was nevertheless awesome. TFTC
Stopped on my way up to coromandel town this evening - pulled up on the left a Little after GZ coz there was too much weekend traffic on my tail to stop exactly where I wanted. Waited until Road was clear & dashed back. Possibly a bit of cache creep (co-ords accurate but was found close but not exactly as per hint), a bit damp but definitely here & safe & sound, fab views tonight, thanks for the stop & tftc
Found while sneaking into NZ for the grand total of 16 hours for my Dad's 70th birthday in Coromandel. Me and my crazy muggle chauffeur friend, Sandra drove down and back and found 5 caches. Hopefully enough to satisfy the Mary Hyde challenge for the week.
Full of water so I drained it and wrote where I could. Tftc

This spot is very overgrown with kikuyu grass and not a safe place to pull over so we could not stay long.

trošku zavádějí hint, ale nakonec jsem našel... výhled super i v mlhavém počasí, skoda že není hezky

One of many caches found while on a mission to grab some caches on the 309 and the tapu-Coroglen rds. Found with little blue hen. TFTCSL
Last time we were in New Zealand and spend our holiday on the Northern Island – that was fantastic!
We landed in Wellington and from this great town we went through the island – we were near Mt. Taranaki, in the Tongariro Nationalpark, on Lake Taupo, in two Thermal Areas, in Rotorua, on Coromandel Peninsula, on the Bay of Islands, on the Ninety Mile Beach, in the Sand Dunes, on Cape Reinga and in Auckland.
All the time we visited there the main attractions – but we wanted to do our hobby (geocaching), too.
So we looked for the boxes next to the highways and on all the wonderful places of this very nice Island.
Here we could found the box very well, we say thanks to the owner and thanks for the cache.

1497 Did an early morning visit to get FTF on nearby sweatbread. So stopped on my way back to Thames. Had to do u turn to park. Another great early morning view.
Found with team SEAC OF A 50 to find day. TFTC. Stunning day in god zone. Went to the wrong cement first but found it quickly on the end.
We formed a team of four, keylev, thebrownehornet, He of HeMaLuDy and me to try for 50 caches that are separated by 1km or more all in one day. This is to meet the requirement of one of the GIO challenges. We got confused by the several possible places that met the hint, but we eventually found it. We signed the log as SEAC. TFTC.
Working on the Geo-Licence series and needed to find 50 caches in a day a minimum of 1km apart so a plan was put together to take a trip to collect them along with Agazo, Mrs HeMaLuDy and thebrownehornet. I left home at 8am and returned just after 10.30pm clocking a total of 476km on the car. The scenery was awesome and reminds me of all that is great in New Zealand.
Managed to park with GPS stating 2m! Took a couple of moments to find though.
Thanks for the cache.

Keylev and Agazo hatched a plan to collect 50 geocaches 1 km apart for their GIO licence, and thebrownehornet was also going along for the ride. At the last minute Mr HeMaLuDy said he could manage the kids and school pick-up, sports etc so Mrs HeMaLuDy decided to tag along too - I'm not sure he was expecting us to be home quite so late as he tried to keep the kids up until I got home but finally put them to bed around 9 (we were home around 10 pm).
We drove pretty much around the Coromandel Peninsula to achieve the goal, and collect a few extras as well. A great day, amazing weather, incredible scenery and very few DNF's. Logs signed as Team SEAC or just SEAC (South East Auckland Crew) as we often cache together as a group, and it saves room on the logs.
A nice easy find here.

An enjoyable day driving around some of the upper Coromandel with Waiiti20. An enjoyable view from here. TFTC
Quick find while heading out on a road trip for the day with Emvy_us, had to take care with all the passing traffic. TFTC Boges, #8407
Steed was on his way home from a week of totally unsuccessful kayak fishing at Coromandel when he found this one, first thing he'd caught all week! All good,TFTC.
On a very brief trip up to Matarangi, so scored a few caches on the way. I ended up parking 300 metres down the hill, so had a nice little bit of exercise when I climbed back up to this one. Fairly difficult driving and trying to keep an eye on the Garmin!! TFTC
Wasn't sure if I had my co-ords right. Didn't seem like a good spot. But it was there as described. Someone called Moxams or somethibg like that signed the paper on 17/5/15 bur haven't filled in the cache page. Seems weird.
Some very unusual cammo here. It looks like someone left the road abruptly just a wee bit up the road. TFTC
Yorkshirekiwi83 and I were heading back to Auckland from Coromandel and stopped to find as many caches as we could along our way. Soon found the cache here and took in the great view! TFTC!

thanks to all the owners of the geocaches that we found on our way to Thames and Coromandel. We loved the beautiful sights and good caches during this trip! TFTC and greetings from Belgium.
Today we decided to go to The Coromandel Peninsula, and on our way back to the motel in Paeroa we found some caches along the road.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
Not actually at the base of the tree which we found out after spending ages looking around it haha
Yesterday was wet and wild. Today calm, blue seas and flowering Pohutakawa trees, magical views. Thanks for the hide, a bit tricky the parking, but got there in the end.
This was the start of our Christmas holiday adventure's doing the 309 road power trail Lovely spots to explore after taking a short break in Whitianga with Rustynz and Urbangypsynz. TFTC
Fortunately a quick easy find as we could barely stand in the gale force wind.

And another gorgeous view!!!! How nice to have excuses to stop and look. Yay for geocaching!
Another day (wet) caching around the coromandel. Say it's our last day away and heading back to the big smoke of Auckland. Tftc
Another weekend... Another mission... Gap (of Fap and Gap) and I are working on several challenges right now. Who needs sleep anyway... (It's overrated). By the end of today, we will record our longest caching day to date (21 hours); complete a circuit of Coromandel Peninsula; find lots of caches; cover a huge number of kilometers; and race against the heavy rain forecasted for the region...
The persistent rain was making things difficult. Darkness wasn't helping either. We were almosr about to give up when Gap made one last push to find this one. Sorry, but under present circumstances, there were no views to speak of. TFTC.

On another road trip with Squirrel Nutcase to collect the 309 trail so thought we should pick up a few more caches as we passed. Started our adventure at 6am Saturdayy and back home 3am Sunday with 91 caches in hand. Best ever day caching or should I say day and a bit.
9.05pm - Best to do this one travelling north, parked on the wrong side of the road to get. SLTFTC

YeoGeo4, Alpenmilch80 and I met to head to the Coromandel and then Whangamata to hit as many caches as possible, in a fun filled day with great company we far exceeded our expectations of how many we would find.
Another quick find with YG4 and myself, 2 geotrails we split up and followed both and quickly had the cache in hand. Thanks for the cache

On the homeward bound way now after completing the Pony Express. Still only early afternoon so could appreciate the views. TFTC
After completing a successful FTF mission on the Pony Express trail we had a very late breakfast then headed for home, with a plan to do just a few more caches on the way. This was our first stop. Certainly a nice view of Te Kouma from here. Thanks.
A quick find heading back home to Auckland from the new 309 trail in the company of funkymunkyzone, rosmar and Tufty. Unfortunately it was dark at this point so will have to return to see the view another day. Thanks!
During our trip through NZ we found a lot of interesting places and caches of course.
Thanks to all owners for hiding and leading us to some special places.

Thw old eclipse mint tin is rusty and not waterproof so the notes are all wet and the pencil is broken.
Found it, but was a little disappointed. Small tin was saturated. Couldn't leave any details. Easy to find though as long as you don't miss the spot, cause there is no sense in u-turning on this road! Easier found on way into town for sure.
