We went for a little adventure, a short drive and a walk in the morning. Out of the boys, Blue had the best time, sniffing everything possible and impossible, but not being very good at finding caches just yet. We had a ball, TFTC!!
TFTC, found on a bike trip around the forest. Could this be the easiest T5 in Christchurch? I'll take the points anyway. Cheers.
Found as a participant of the 2015 NZ Mega: the Mclean's Island guided bike ride logging our finds as "Team Friday".
Another easy find with all of Team Friday being available to help come up with the goods. Interesting to hear some of the backstory to this cache as well before moving along to the next. TFTC
We are logging all our NZ MEGA 2015 caches after the event so that we can say how much we enjoyed our experience in Christchurch/Kaiapoi. The weather was perfect … the programme excellent … the organising team had really excelled themselves to provide a wonderful weekend. Congratulations to them all. We were also impressed with the sponsorship the management committee had managed to acquire – thanks to them also. We found your cache, rediguana, on the McLean’s Island ‘walk’, organised and managed by Bald Ed, on the Friday before the MEGA got underway. We signed the log as, “Team Friday”. Thanks, Bald Ed for a great ride. TFTC.
TFTC. I needed this! In fairness, another Member of the cycling posse got to this one first...
I am in Christchurch for the mega as there will be to many caches to log I am logging standard caches for everyone. Thanks to everyone for placing their caches.
Found as part of Team Friday on the McLeans Island bike trip during NZMEGA15. This was a great place to bike with good trails. We really enjoyed this outing. Thanks for organising the tour.
This was the first for the team that came together for the organised bike ride. Evilno9, Phronimos, paddle chick, nanzie, infoferret, geopopnz, stardust718 and me, Tufty, and to save time in logging we called ourselves Team Friday. We had BaldEd to guide us.
This was the fourth cache on the ride around MacLeans Forest.
Cheers for the cache.

OK so we needed a T5 or D5 to complete the road trip challenge and we had this one on the list.
However our weekends were always full of other commitments and time was running out with 2 days to go.
Today being a Monday I'm back at work sitting at my desk and I get a txt from Mr Doolittle saying he got this cache

Out for a Mcleans caching mission with the family on a stunning Saturday morning. Cache was a little tricky due to the gps bouncing around, but we got there in the end. Thanks for placing this cache.
Nice easy find during an enjoyabe evening bike ride around the circuit with a good friend.

My T5 find for a road trip souvenir! No one around on this weekday morning. TFTC
I had a few hours to spare today so decided to go out and find a few caches. I headed for this area attracted by the possibility of gaining a souvenir from this T5 cache. I had a feeling that this might become a popular place to visit between now and the end of August. I left my car at the River Rd car park and decided to earn the T5 as I walked around the tracks and trails taking about 3.5 hours and finding 15 caches along the way. TFTC, Biggles.
Due to my bike not being in rideable condition we decided to walk to this one. A bit of a hike but we did it! Now I can get my T5/D5 road trip souvenir!! TFTC
After finding an easy cache close by bugzptr and I then went off in search of this one for our souvenir. We decided to park near the quad bike track car park and walk as we thought it would be closer than going from the other end.
Was a cold windy day but we had plenty of warm clothes on. At first was easy going then came to the stop bank and wandered along for a bit then we had to make a detour into the forested area in order to get to the cache, so after making one false start we made more tracks through the trees we finally came across the mountain bike track and found out we were quite close so it was just a matter of locating the caches spot. And after a few minutes of searching bugzptr soon had cache in hand, yay we earned our terrain 5 souvenir. Now it was back home into the warmth TFTC

We had a plan for this cache, and it didn't involve bikes. For the most part the terrain was manageable, there were only a couple of places that challenged us. Finally we broke out of the trees onto the cycle track and then on toward the cache. A well earned T5 cache.
#3 on our list for the day. Wow a 5 T we don't manage to do many of those. Enjoying our morning walk. TFTC
Out and about tidying up all the new and outstanding caches in the area. It is amazing how different the track is with all the trees that have gone.
Cheers and thanks,

I don't know how I missed this last time. I must have been biking too fast. My last find on a caching adventure.
Has a free morning so decided to knock these of my list. Tftc nice run round Mcleans island
Came out in the afternoons sunshine for a family adventure. Mrs G ran and the wee dudes and I biked. Pleased my trusty pre-suspension steed made it around ok! Surprised and happy that wee dudes made it all the way around the circuit...no complaints but a bit tired by the end. Bit of circling at GZ before we found the right hint & the cache. Nice one. Cheers.
Found an interesting beetle and a cricket near GZ. Nice stop on the trail. TFTC.
This was a must find today. Wandered over this way after the nearby CITO event, picking up rubbish along the way. Bushwhacked my way over from the other, nearby cache to avoid the very busy cycleway. So many people out today. Glad for some cover from the cyclists during the hunt. I can just imagine the questions from the kids on the bikes to their parents, wondering why some strange man was looking through the bushes so far from the car park. Cheers rediguana for the cache!
scouted about for this one, with no trouble at all, had it in hand quick as, with the drizzle falling. did a TB swap. then raced off for the next. Cheers.
No bike so I had to walk to the cache. Managed to do it by mainly walking on road tracks and avoided the bike trail for all but about 100m. Looks like a good bike trail for beginners which would suit me if I ever do have a bike with me.
Many thanks
Many thanks
Found with master 2.5 on the back of the bike. Played with the dinosaur then put back
Needed a Cache for today,so this little Rascal was it.Drove in through the back way,and found it was only 725mts to GZ,so that will do us.Followed a Track, and only had to climb over one gate.TFTH
Having not been on a bike for years decided the safer route would be the walk in. A dreary day to start started to fine up so decided it was the time to get this one. Nice trip in and out not to long but enough to get the legs moving. A bit of bush bashing required but cache spotted pretty quickly again by Chelzea. Now she wants to hire some bikes and try the track for real. TFTC
Last night we planned to go out for a cache.but when i woke up this morning the weather is nasty but we need to go out to settle something and decide to go for a cache.so we went to other side of town for a cache.after i told sevren to do the 5 Terrain cache.further walk but i spotted pretty quickly the cache.tftc
An enjoyable way to spend a Sunday afternoon. I have not been on a bike for many years.
I have been eyeing up this one for a while and have been twarted twice by time constraints. I sussed out an alternative route and parked 1.4kms away and headed to GZ. Boy it was cold in the shade. Lots of ice around. I did my usual 'shortcut' and found some really boggy ground. I was hoping to get this one earlier but I nearly killed my dad walking BaldEd's 11km multi. The extra incentive to get this was today was I had coords for a bonus cache and the allure was too great. So with this one and this mornings effort I was heading to 14kms walked today. Had the 'just one more' bug today . Found the cache quickly and happily signed the log and tick a D/T matrix box!!! I found my 'shortcut' would have been a bit easier if I followed the plantation road a bit up the way. Oh well, more fun following purple line . Off for 'one more'.
Thanks for the cache.

Quick easy find as I whipped past. Was hoping to collect another couple on the loop but missed the waypoints. Thanks for the Hide.
Nice evening for a walk. Glad to get this cache off my list, I have been meaning to do it for a while. TFTC (949)

A quick find on an enjoyable bike ride in the park this afternoon. Signed log, TFTC!
Found it. We set off late in the afternoon and it appeared that we had the track all to ourselves. Tftc lots of fun
We had been eyeing this one off for a while now so being a great sunny day we headed off to grab this and a few others. Some parts of the track where a little muddy but not too bad. We could heard and smell the two stoke bikes next door. Some sounded so loud we where expecting one of them to go pop. We found the co-ords good and soon had the cache in hand. We signed the log and re hid. TFTC
Easy find. Left contents in sun a few minutes to try and dry a bit. Log book was dry. TFTC.
First time around this part of the bike trail. Geo kids enjoying the ride. Cache all good. TFTC
Found easily. We walked there using the walking tracks, cycling tracks, and bushbashing. Heaps of muggles around, but cache is tucked away from sight.

Excellent, ridden pass this location many times even in the Giant day/nighter MTB race. TFTC
Out here to take part in some MTB orienteering and went looking for two caches after the event. Found them both including this one. TFTC
3972. A lovely day to be out on the tracks and picking up a few caches at the same time.
Thanks

What a beautiful day first of 3, this is number 299 for us! We love cycling this track.
Found on our family bike ride, stopped to get this one while the rest biked on. TNLNSL TFTC
#573: Bonus on the Way to a Bonus!
I was out with two of three GeoYounglings today on school holiday, and we picked up the excellent Tour de McLeans. On our way to picking up the "Bonus" version of that multi, I rode by this one, and made the find! Everything is in good shape, and relatively easy to find. Not many bikers out and about today, as it was a Monday, so we had a nice, relaxing time of it!
Took a "Rotorua" patch, and left a nice pathtag with a picture of the "Chrysler Building" in New York on it -- my favorite building in the world. Thanks for this nice bonus!

Our first ever T5 cache and walked in, avoiding the bike track until the last few metres.A beautiful day and some well kept golf courses.
Great fun blasting about the bike track at maximum speed determined not to follow some of the other skid marks into the scrub or knocking bark off trees. Good cache.
Found while looking for the Tour de McLeans bonus. Left Kaa's Badge Collector TB. TFTC.
Slightly overshot on the way round the loop-but not far! I liked the 1/2 golf ball! TFTC
Thirteen kms on a bike was always going to be an extreme challenge for Wobbly Hello Mrs. Easy for Old Boots who came along as my personal trainer. Left Workman TB thought he might like to chat up the workman who have been busy lopping trees nearby. Pukeko just visited as no friends here. Thanks for the T5 cache so pleased to get that off the to do list. No one on the MBT today.
#2102 As one of my targets for 2011 is to find caches of T4.5 and 5 this one was a perfect starting point. After my walk up Mount Herbert yesterday to find Sign of the Polar Bear which was a T3 this one was really appreciated. TNLN TFTC DS8300
Found on a trip thru the park on the Mountain Bikes. Picked up the TBs to move on. Quick find, cheers.
Of all the open area around, it is hard to believe that 6 track workers would be clearing the track within 20m of the cache. Not easy to look nonchalant, so explained Caching.
