No time to go for a maintenance run - hope everone enjoyed the walk

02-May-21
We enjoyed the nice walk in, doc markers and gates all good.
Got to stream and grass thigh high round matogouri and clumpy. Difficult walking and falling. We both looked for 45mins and couldn't find cache.

02-May-21
This geocacher reported that the cache might be missing.

26-Mar-21
Easy bike ride to GZ but no sign of a mini cairn as per Bald Ed and GPS not stable so unable to find. I think this cache probably needs to be resited with updated hint.

23-Jan-20
We walked the walk but got off track so retired. Dont get into the swamp. Cross before it and the new plantings. Good luck, should be a good view.

12-Sep-19
I do not agree with going over fences unless I know there is permission.

I went to look as hint object is a pile of ash. Log is ok though.

Took a pig and left a plastic duck.

19-Apr-19
Nice easy find once I read about the fence to cross and the nice pile of rocks by baldEd all was revealed cache in perfect condition ready for the next finder TFTC and the mini adventure

Found it!! Stopped by the road and found the first cache then decided to go find the other by the creek. Awesome little walk down to the cache. Once we got down there, there was a fence between us and the cache. Not wanting to get zapped I was hesitant to go over. Eventually I Got over the fence and the cache was easily found thanks to BaldEd's rocks. Awesome spot!!! Thanks MollyChCh

Today I had planned to geocache at Mt Cook but the weather forecast last night was dire.Sad Hence, I shifted to Plan B - geocache Mt John and around Tekapo. Having climbed Mt John in the morning it was time to fill-in the afternoon by caching a little out of town. I have driven past this cache many times in the past 10 years but had always been in too much of a hurry to be somewhere else. With TwoSharpe's new cache, at the start of the track, being an incentive I decided to make the effort this time. Having realised that GZ was on the otherside of a 2 wire electric fence I got down on hands and knees and crawled through a couple of lower wires. Wasn't shocked at all. [^] So far so good. But it was obvious that at sometime in the recent past a grass fire has passed through GZ and many old matagouri were now nothing but charcoal sticks sticking up.Surprised By carefully checking both charred and un-charred matagouri I amazingly found the cache hidden in long grass behind a rock. Cool To help other cachers, I built a little cairn of rocks to indicate the cache location. Thanks for the cache MollyChCh

So proud to find this cache after 1.5 years since the last log!! Smile Cache was on the other side of the fence but in a very good condition. I was so lucky that there was a pen in the box, my pencil wasn‘t working...

19-Nov-16
Bit of a hike but easy find once we got there. Happy the electric fence wasn't on. TFTC

Found on our way from Wanaka to Christchurch, TFTC Smile

02-Jul-16
It's unfortunately on the wrong side of the fence, but you can spot it ...

Chilly day for a walk. The stream is lovely. Fire has been in the area and what looks like a new fence which I had to get over. Looks like it can be electrified also. Be wary. Tftc

21-May-16
A nice walk out in that biting south westerly, found the cache ok but there by had been a bush fire right upto gz. The box wasn't effected. Replaced in the bush awaiting some regrowth in the spring. Cheers

03-May-16
Nice walk in along the very flat ground under the watch of a smiling sun.

25-Apr-16
A bit of a walk to finish the day, a quick find and then another cuppa tea right where we had one this morning.

20-Apr-16
Phew took a while, and blood was shed but found it. Lovely to be back on Maryburn Station

01-Mar-16
Took a while but many scratches and foul language later the cache was in hand. Tftc

22-Feb-16
Beautiful spot, thanks!

07-Jan-16
Had read about this DoC area so when we were driving back from Tekapo, requested a 'short walk' stop. It's not signposted from the road, so geocaching is the only reason we could find the way in. We saw the farmer across the stream moving stock - with the sheeps wool being the same colour as the dry pasture, it looked as if the whole hillside had started moving! A hot walk over the paddock but what a beautiful spot to come to. Streamweed all in flower. Second matagouri approached yielded the reward!

16-Dec-15
I was going to spend the day with an old colleague of mine who I hadn't seen for about 15 years, so I decided to get my cache-a-day early in the morning. It was just as well as it was about 10pm when I managed to get back to the caravan.

Cheers for the cache.

Found tftc. Blustery day

11-Nov-15
This is one I didn't download to the gps but I thought I would try with the smart phone. Alas it is just not good enough to identify the particular spot. Still, it was a pleasant stroll and filled in an hour. Thanks for placing the cache.

second attempt at this one and had a few helpers this time even though 2 of them were happy to just watch the fish in the stream rather than being skewered with thorns, did take a while but I wasn't leaving without it today tftc

What a beautiful spot. TFTC

It's about time I wandered across to this cache. The day was fine but jeepers, the wind was cold! A few bulls in the next paddock were interested in me but otherwise uneventful. Cheers

21-Jan-15
A very isolated not often visited cache but a smiley face for us...tftc

23-Mar-14
A quick easy find after a bit of a walk in the hot afternoon sun. A bit more than a kilometre and it took us a good quarter hour each way. TFTC

28-Jan-14
An easy find after camping a night by Lake Pukaki. Thank you for showing us a wonderful spot!

16-Jan-14
We decided to take a stroll to this cache, it was a bit of a walk but the stream was lovely. We spent a while searching for the cache and cursing the matagouri but just as the hint says the cache is reachable without getting your hands shredded. GZ was spot on for us as well. Thanks for the placement MollyChCh, we wouldn't have stopped here otherwise.

16-Jan-14
No hurry today so we took up the suggestion of a walk to the Maryburn. Took a bit more than 10minutes but it is such a contrast to see the harshness of the land and yet there is this delightful stream flowing through it. The co-ordinates are spot on so you don't have to demolish the matagouri.

27-Dec-13
Nice spot. Matagari is too scratchy to reach under too many bushes.

23-Mar-13
Lovely walk TFTC

01-Mar-13
Checked today (with a replacement cache in our bag) and found the cache without any problems. Yes, the grass is a bit higher, but the hint is still valid. There is absolutely no need to touch a stone and disturb the wildlife. Oh, and of course it is very unlikely that you need 10 minutes for a 2 Kilometer walk....
So if you use a real GPS the coordinates are still spot on (we do not know how bad a smartphone is), we had an accuracy of 4m today.
We increase the difficulty rating, however we do not think that this is necessary as the cache is on GL and can be spotted (looking from the correct angle)

22-Feb-13
Sorry, tried to replace the cache this weekend, but run out of time. We will have another go the coming weekend - the new container is already in our car....

05-Jan-13
May have to check whether it is still there. Cache was placed under a pile of rocks, unfortunately under Matagouri to prevent grazing stock from destroying it. But maybe it is no longer a pile of rocks and therefore hard to find.
We have to wait until we are in the are in about 1 month, feel free to search, but we are temporarily disabling the listing.

04-Jan-13
The description for this is a bit misleading. It is a 2.4km walk (1.2 there and 1.2 back) and certainly not a 10 minute stroll as suggested. So to do that and then come up with a DNF was very frustrating.

15-Dec-12
This is a lousy cache and should be resited or archived. The number of dnf's indicates that something is wrong. All the stones in the vicinity have been moved, endangeering the many skinks and ghekkos that live underneath them. Please cachers, when you move a stone replace it as is was with lichen side up.

Our second day in New Zealand on the road between Christchurch and Twizel. It is a so beautiful and amazing country. I love it so much... and my second visit is until now even better than the first one...

After NZ Mega event, accompanied with Sp00k & Ciotach on carvanning and travelling south/west tour. After parked, walked 1 km or so and searched for 15 mins. Failed to find the cache. Not happy Jane. Thanks for bringing us to the lovely scenery.

4028. We were about to have serious problems if I didn't get some of the equipment charged so Rodney set off while I got to work with charging the Palm. When it was fully charged and I had managed to type up 3 days worth of logs ready for uploading and Rodney was still not back I started to get really worried so set out through the paddocks to see what had gone wrong. It turned out the the cache was further away than we had realised and searching for it was horrific - those sharp bushes are now covered by long grasses which does not make it any easier. But he found the cache so that was good.
Thanks
Iris & Rodney

Nice wander in the sun today. Luckily for use the very large bulls in the next paddock were not at all concerned with us passing by. Neat location. TFTC

Despite very sore legs from an epic trip last night, I decided I had time for this one before stopping for tea at Kohan (the Japanese restaurant in Tekapo) . It would have been much nicer if the first bit of the hint was in the description. -TB. Thanks.
