I have been meaning to get out here for ages, and so today I was OCW EverestHigh around this section of The Basin along the Georges River. It was a pleasant day, not too hot and a breeze occasionally to cool us down. This bushland area was well worth the visit. We parked at the very tidy parking area and followed the trailheads towards the river. After some bush bashing, we decided it would be better to follow the road. Once at a decent level, we headed into the bush, and although a bit scratchy, I have done worse. Finally we arrived at the quiet place with the nice view, and once again a quick find as made. After signing and replacing, we rested in the cool breeze and admired the view, before making our way to the trailhead and back to the carpark area. We needed a rest and a drink before tackling the last one to complete our day around The Basin. No koalas sighted today. TFTC
(4 of 5 today)Headed down to Minto Heights and Kentlyn for today's calendar finds. Went for six and found all of them.HUZZAH!###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###Man, that's a lot further going back up...Scrambled to this one and soon found myself at a logical GZ.And there it is.Signed, replaced and away to my last target here.SLTNLNTFTC
Nice hide & great spot.
Note the “small cave” - important hint.
Took a detour down the hill to explore. Fun but not necessary for the find.

Lost the WP track pretty soon after leaving the fire trail but it was an easy walk through fairly open scrub anyway.
Spotted the hide straight away once at GZ. And yes, it it a quiet spot with a nice view.
Took nothing, left some ooshies.

Redundancy has its perks - taking full advantage of the beautiful warm June weather and being outdoors geocaching. It's been a while since I've done some adventure caching and decided to come cross some of the ones down this way off.
After a found cache and then a DNF, I was determined to grab one more before it got too dark. Was a bit lost until I spotted two rocks stacked on each other which made me immediately think someone sat there to admire the views, which only meant - and there it was! Added my own lil rock to the pile. TFTC

Cache check undertaken today and all is good. Cache is in correct location and container is fine.

GammaPiSigma I found your cache Quiet spot with a nice view. on 3/8/19, 2:20 pm. This is my find 2443 and find # 6 today. Great views, after a brief search soon had CIH. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN
From the bottom of Old Ford Road we assessed the possibility of tracking along the river to this cache and decided to go for it. It was a nice walk until we had to climb upward. Several cliffs proved to be difficult but we found our way up eventually. All part of the adventure! Rassilon256 miraculously spotted this one before we even got to the site. TFTC
I confess, the long walk and climb was my idea. A quick look at llama_boy's map on screen suggested that we could walk here via the low way from Henry's Road. We could but it was not as easy as following the track. Nonetheless it was enjoyable with a few nice caves and lots of interesting plants. It was disappointing to see an abandoned campsite where it appeared someone had been living, but hopefully they are in better circumstances now.
Having successfully navigated to the top we approached the eponymous spot, where I 'did a raindoctor' and found the cache before we'd even started looking. Hey, a find is a find.

Sure is a great view. An easy find from the direction I came and not right on the edge. TFTC
TFTC Thank you for going to the effort of hiding this cache. You have shown us a new place and have helped make geocaching an enjoyable activity.
Parked as suggested and went down the fire trail until the foot track. Saw a few roos about as we made our way through the burnt out area. Great views from GZ and a quick find of the cache. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC. A favourite point from us.
Like a few other recent cachers, we took the direct route from the bottom, picking a route that turned this one into a T4.9.
Making our way up to the cliffline, we reached a spot that was only a few feet below the top, but with a very scary and exposed crawl through a slot at the edge of the cliff to make it up. Looking at a couple of other options, some loose rocks there made this feel like the far saner route (relatively), so we gingerly crawled across, then declenched for an easy walk to the find. Some stunning views along our route though, and nice to up the adventure level for the day a bit.
A favourite point for the adventure!

We made chop liver on this cache , went the hard way and the terrain raining was 4.5... Couple of tumbles, scratches and yay, no broken bones.. I guess it that happens sometimes. Got there eventually and headed for the other nearby cache. Beautiful area. TFTC
We came straight up the cliff to this one adding another level of adventure!?! In the end it was an easy find at the top.

Earned our terrain rating here as we made a meal out of it, climbing up from the creek level to the summit over a hundred metres.
A rather quick find up here and sitting down to soak in the views and breeze, thanks GammaPiSigma

Loved the walk here, bit of path, bit of track and a bit of freestyling it through relatively clear bushland. Trusted GPS and found it quite quickly. Geodogs came along for the find. Left windmill.. loved the toilet paper left by someone- had a chuckle. Thanks for the cache.
Definitely a nice quiet spot off the track with views of the Georges River below. TFTC.
Wow, big adventure once you hit the trailhead and get off the main track - scary crunching around all of the sticks after we were spooked by a tiny baby snake on the main track just 5 minutes before! But we made it okay. Definitely a great view. Thanks for bringing us here!
Knocked 3 of these over today (wombat, basin, and this), and planning on the other 3 in a fortnight's time.
Thank you!!

Such a serene location. I do love any excuse to walk around this area. I "borrowed" trackable NashiSim and will relocate it soon. My first trackable grab.
Managed to find this one just before the heavens opened up and drenched the place. A nice spot for a cache. Exchanged travel bugs.

The cache name is quite appropriate, although the Cicadas were doing their best to make distracting noise today. (Already starting to get very warm).
Lovely views from this spot, but didn't see any Koalas.
Thanks GammaPiSigma.

An easy walk on the way back from the river caches, walking track almost to it, but easy to get to anyways. Dropped a TB off. Great views, the day is warming up steadily.
Added the main tracks to get near this one to OSM.
To see that, on the left side of the large map screen, click the bar, down the bottom, select map preferences, the popup appears, select leaflet maps. This shows the far better OSM maps and you will see the walking tracks here.

Very quiet spot with a very nice view had fun getting to this one after doing the others in the area TFTC!
Caching adventure day with All Strung Out and kieran6 ... surprisingly opened up bushland with the flowering of the bush capturing Mrs ASO's heart ... a very nice and easy walk across the cliff top to this perfect spot for a sit and rest and enjoy the moment location. TFTC
Seems it was a very popular cache today!!!! Found with kieran6 and whitemushroom........... lovely little spot very quite and is great to see a different type of bushland in comparison to our home (Blue Mtns) ........TFTC GammaPiSigma
In this cache there is a travelbug wich is taking part of a race.. is it possible for the next cacher , who visit this cache, to help this travelbug to the next cache?
Thanks in advance.

After doing a check on my Henrys Road cache I scrambled up through the cliff lines and walked over to here and did a check on this cache as well. Happy to report all is good.
Walked over to the Basin track and headed down to the Basin for a look. River is running well at the moment, pity it is still a bit cold to go for a dip as the water looked very tempting.

Still getting the hang of the new magellan 510 eXplorist, put a few waypoints in without realising it, and wound up having to bush smash (my wifes new term for when 'bush bashing' isn't enough) our way to the cache.
Mrs Theality found the cache while I was off exploring other possible cache locations. Left a 'Birthday Girl' badge and a nerf disc, took the toy car as a trophy for Mrs Theality's first proper find.

TFTC. Nice spot. Had to beat a hasty retreat as the smell of fire come wafting across the river ..
I read the description before leaving to find this, and checked the GPS at the trailhead. Walked along the trail for a while and thought. "What a nice quiet spot!" , Checked GPSr and was right on top of it.
Nice easy find but the atmosphere was lovely.

What a lovely spot. The Georges River gorge never ceases to amaze me with its rugged scenery. A beautiful spot to just sit and take in the peacefulness. Thanks for bringing me here.
Found by 'J' of JYGE! together with gnomesngizmo, nice place to sit and plan the next cache (Thats another story)
Found many months ago with the Geokids, but didn't get around to logging it. A nice walk in, and a lovely little spot for a cache.
Approached this one coming directly from another cache, Henry's Road. That's means an approach from the bottom wich makeds it almost 5 stars but has you at a beautiful spot about 10 meters lower then the cache!!

Just love the area, went from here parallel with the ridge across to Wombat Walk. Geokid got this one. And it is a nice view.
I set off this arvo in search of a possible spot for a new cache, after a while I changed my mind and set off on the track after a few caches in the area.
So, after my 5km cross country bash I managed to get on the trail that would lead me to the cache!
I arrived at GZ and begun my search, found the hide where I dropped Frost Duck TB took nothing.
The wind was howling in from the SW so I signed log and left quick, not wanting to do the 5km hike back, similar to E.T. I 'phoned home' and got picked up hahahaha

Back to the old stomping ground. Great memories of the Basin and the waterhole, a couple of humdred metres upstream. GammaPiSigma - you're right - a quiet spot with a nice view. Brilliant. After a few weeks of some pretty good rain, it was great to hear the river running. Took the TB.
Number 2,600 GC cache - Grabbed my tucker bag and headed out to GZ. Nice walk with plenty of bird life. Relaxed and enjoyed the views while having lunch contemplating the past 2,599 caches. Left TB thanks. .
I must say I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to walk to this cache, no real bush bashing needed at all, even off track it was an easy stroll. The views were prety good as well. Walking away I was startled by a huge explosion over in the military range, and this was just after I was thinkink what a shame we can't hide caches over there! Thanks GPS.
This is really a great spot to visit. A nice view with the lake down at the bottom. We walked further down the rocks to GCMQ00 but we found out later that there is much easier route down

This was on the top of the list I wanted my first trackable. After heading off on the wrong track with Canndyman and the kids down near the nudie camp (thanks Sugarlimelink for the tip) we hopped back in the car and went to a different location to start the find. we also took the wrong track there but found the walk very informative with the kids reading the info plaques along the way and seeing what we believe to be Koala paw prints but realising we were heading down to the river decided not to go all the way and went back up to start on a different track, We finally found the right track but then realised we would have to do about 200 mtrs of bush bashing to get to the location. Once there the cache did not disappoint there was my very first trackable which we have taken to move on to a new location and very excited to read this trackable started its journey 4 years ago from California USA. A great challenge TFTC
Wow this was a long hunt if you come from liverpool direction and head to this cache you will have to do 40 minutes of bush bashing and end up at the noody camp.we followed several tracks with the kids in tow.
got back in the car and headed to old ford road at kentlyn area we headed down old ford road when we discovered we were only 40 steps away from the bottom of the gorge we turned back and strolled back up the hill.We noticed koala hand prints on the wet ground that were very fresh i forgot about the cache and started looking up and searching for fury koalas the kids were moaning about the walk but they were eager to find this cache.Make sure you take water.so if you start heading down this area you might be heading the wrong way but it dosent matter because it is so peaceful you will forget why you came hear.
it is better if you come from ruse direction it would be easier .So we Headed down another track and finally heading in the right direction we hoped and now we had another dilemma the wifes gps whent flat lucky i had mine as i had turned mine off due to no signal (vodafone gps poor in this area but it started to pick up signal and we homed in on the cache after a bit of a bush bash but fairly easy . i let the kids find this one as a reward for getting out of the house and taking a little over 3 hours it was a great adventure...........yes we finnaly did it and was rewarded with a trackable bug we took this to moove it on again and keep its travels going. TFTC And a great location.PS the kids were happy to be in the car and heading for some dinner.

(Rated 2.5 stars with GCVote) A nice walk from Wombat's Walk to this one along the edge of the escarpment above the Georges River. Mrs Jaybeem! found this one straight away, using her now famous most obvious place first technique.
Wow. What a beautiful spot. I've walked through here a few times in the last year after visiting 'Henry's Road' for the first time.
The perfect cache. Thanks.
The perfect cache. Thanks.
Out for an mtb ride this morning so I headed over this way to just check that all was in order and get some photos of the native Orchids flowering at the moment. Anyway, all good. Georges River is flowing nicely with all the rain we've had.
The hardest part of this one was finding the track that went along the ridge line above the river and
not the track down to the river.A jogger muggle and his dogs was quickly spied by limesugarlink
heading off in the direction we needed.A nice pleasant stroll and we were not disappointed with the
location it had the YES factor and all agreed this was the cache of the day after some below par
caches earlier. Thanks GammaPiSigma for bringing us here, a most enjoyable cache to do...

This was the seventh find of the day while on a caching expedition with PPx2.
After the disappointment of some earlier caches being less than interesting / challenging / inspiring we were all looking forward to this one and hoped that it would rekindle some of that caching enjoyment and enthusiasm.
First off the GPSr decided it would take us to the closest road which as it turns out is the nudie farm on the other side of the gorge...we decided it wanst for us and piled back into the geomobile and headed towards an easier and far less exposed way of getting to the cache.
We strayed down the wrong path at first, it was a nice walk but it ended up heading down into the bowels of the gorge below...decided that the jogger with mutts in tow wasn't going down to the bottom and decided to head back to the geomobile and take that path instead.
Off we headed along the correct path this time and soon enough after passing some angry ants we were in the right location and tell tale cache hidey hole.
It was a lovely spot even on a dreary overcast day, would be spectacular on a blue sky fluffy white clouds day.
Love the red trees and river below
This is to me what caching is about.
Getting out and amongst things and places where some kind of beauty exists and somewhere your wouldn't normally have need to stop.
Thanks for bringing me here to share the experience and view.
Left solar car and keyring / cache container.

It's been a while between drinks, but yay, our first FTF in 5 months and our 6th overall. Saw this one pop up just shy of midnight and figured we'd be in with a chance on christmas morning. We had planned to clear this area out during the afternoon, but the added incentive of grabbing the FTF changed our plans and our timeframe. Easy stroll to the GZ ( we took two wrong turns before finally getting on the right path). Found the cache unsigned and celebrated with a xmas high five. Thanks for taking us here GPS, lovely views and very quiet
