Great hide! All good here- thanks heaps for placing a cache here. Great day out!
With reference to the suggestion re bushbashing etc I wonder if the finder read the cache description as there is ample reference to the options for using the tracks to GZ You should always check the map before entering an area such as this for your safety and should not go off track in this regional park as that avoids damage to the environment.Unfortunately the link I used for the tracks map is out of date, however OSM is a useful resource, and Greater Wellington also puts out an excellent brochure which I will link to. Of course NZ topo maps are another option.A few other things in the description need updating and I will attend to this in the next day or two.
In this area today and drove / wandered round and grabbed a few caches as we went. Here having parked up we took advantage of the good weather and wandered up the track and found a few caches Found after quite a search and going very much off piste. Not knowing the area or having any other tracks in our maps other than the main ones we went in search from that main path. Realising the cache was some way off of it we ventured down and eventually found the cache and then spotted the lower path that is referred to in the hint. Going back in that we then noted where it went off the main track. It would be useful having a waypoint for that as a trailhead marker to prevent others bushwhacking down from the main path like we did We plotted one at S 41 15.158' E 174 55.299' which is where the signs are and taking you off left if coming from the northCache signed and replaced TFTCTim and Viv - ddm
Once I realised that I had to get off the main ridge track, this cache was quickly found. TFTC!
Trouve ! / Found it ! a grimpe pas mal ici, mais quel plaisir de dcouvrir cette petite cache facile 4197me cache trouve.Merci robnzh pour la cache It climbs a lot here, but what a pleasure to discover this little easy cache 4197th cache found.Thank you robnzh for the cache
I foolishly bush bashed this one from the ridge. Would have been a lot easier if I’d just followed the track! TFTC
Nice quick find especially after reading Bruzies' log. Cute hint! Cache perfectly dry. TFTC
Heading up along the ridgeline towards the Welly Climbs multi and this cache was along the way. Well, sort of. As I discovered it's off down a side track, but not too far. A little hunting around at GZ before getting my hands on the cache, dodging the fallen tree. Signed and replaced, then back up to the main track. All good here, and TFTC
Cache survived a tree falling nearby, an otherwise easy find with geohound keeping watch...tftc!
Oddly, I found myself up here on a Monday night. Oh well, while we're here, we may as well find this cache. So we did. Tree cover meant that three different phones gave three different directions, but eventually they all converged on the same spot and once there it didn't take long for the 'here it is' call to come out. Cache is in excellent condition for being eleven years old.
Thanks to the CO for providing another reason to be up here.

I had been in a course all day and hadn't checked my phone was was a bit surprised when Twig announced that we were off for an evening's FTFing. After 2 minutes to finish an email I had my shoes on and was ready to go. We got to the old biscuit factory and didn't have any biscuits while waiting for a hulking great yeti to turn up (useful for keeping zombies away)(and the biscuit factory hasn't been a biscuit factory for years).
We piled into the yeti's Yeti and headed into Wainuiomata for a half circuit of the roundabout to head out of Wainui. Wainuiomata? Yep, been there, done that! Parked half way up the hill for a slightly less direct route to the new cache, going via this cache. The CO says this is a steep route up but I didn't find that. Okay, it's not gentle either, but it wasn't steep. Maybe we took the wrong way. It was also night, so we could not see more than a few metres ahead with our torches, so maybe just not being able to see where we were going...
Anyway, after finding that new cache, we headed back down the way we came and stopped here along the way. Another nice easy find for a surprisingly dry cache. Also a decent size, and in the bush, so gets a fave from me. And for the fun of a night cache .

About 10 weeks ago something quite remarkable happened. Or rather, it didn't, but has become remarkable since then. I got to join a new band of keen puzzle solvers of various levels of both ability and engagement, since which we seem to have morphed into something far more. I love how my evenings have become a lot less predictable of late. This was already destined to be a great evening doing a group solve/find on a night cache in town, but then I got asked by one of the members whether I fancied zipping out to try for a FTF? Bit of a silly question really lol.
So it was that not long after I arrived home from work, that I was soon back out of the door again dragging the Seanoid in tow to meet up with YetiNZ. A quick blat up the hill and we had found what we were looking for, but in our more leisurely descent decided to stop and look for this one as well. My phone was the one to settle down and bring me to GZ the quickest, but it was tS that made the quick find. Everything here looks great, and we replaced it as found.
I think I will need to come again during daylight hours to appreciate the location, but I can appreciate the opportunity for a bit of an adventure tonight, so thanks for placing this cache.

Found with , after a spot of unnecessary bush bashing, hehe. Beautifully still winter’s day in here today, which makes it lovely and peaceful in amongst the beech. TFTC. KTG
Out with KTG .... nice thing about technology....15m from GZ...... go bush bash from the main track to the other track.... unfortunate thing about technology...... 15m from GZ..... look up towards where the arrow is pointing....ah... there's another track... lol. TFTC . Log in mint condition.
An expeditious find, thanks robnzh. That’s my turnaround today, now to fade out & return through the light mist.
Looked around for a while as the gps said 20m east of the trail and hint said reachable from track, but no luck. Now I realise we were on the ridge track so I was looking in the wrong place!! I need to go back.
Found on a very warm day during my walk along the Main Ridge Track as far as the Ferry Track down to Days Bay I've been meaning for a long time to pick up caches on this route
This one was quite exposed to view and therefore easy to find It's in great shape Tucked away a bit more to minimise chance of it being seen by passers-by
Thanks Robnzh

Enabling now we are at Level 2. Please use hand sanitiser. If you encounter others (not so likely here but you might if you use the main track) please keep your distance and preferably wear a mask.
Out with TharntheHalken, getting some caches in Francis Bell Reserve. Found after a bit of a search. All good in cache, tftc!
Found on a walk around the Lowry Bay tracks. Wonderful bush, great views of the harbour. TFTC
We came by on our walk along the Main Ridge Track. I could not work how 18m away was within arms reach until I read the rest of the cache description.
You can make tracks here now provided Level 2 protocol is observed.
This includes using hand sanitiser before and after handling the cache and social distancing from anyone around who is not part of your "bubble."
Lives including yours and those of people you care about may depend on it!

Initially overshot this one then backed up for an easy find. All in order here, thanks for placing this cache
Thanks for the very good clue, it didn't drive me round the bend. Cache in good condition.
A slighy northerly diversion from my intended route south to pick up this one. Close to GZ I seemed to get to a point where the GPS wanted me to go 20m down a bank. So I checked the hint and found I should not have to do that. Had a bit of a think and noticed a signpost a bit further along. Went other there and discovered a track coming up to meet the ridge track that wasn't on my GPS (or at least not marked in the correct location). From the junction the GPS pointed more usefully straight down the track. A little way down there the cache was soon discovered - a little conspicuous it has to be said but refusing to be hidden any better in that spot. I tried to make it a bit less obvious before resuming my southward journey. TFTC.
ook advantage of the good weather this evening to grab a few caches along the Wainui ridge-line. First time I've been along the tracks in this area for many years. As kids it was our route from home in Wainui to the beach at Days Bay during the summer. *TFTC robnzh #293*
Out walking the dog in the bush today, finding a few geocaches en route. Took a while this one but hint helped me narrow down search, tftc!
Good straightforward cache and hide. And a good place for us to turn around and head back to the car at Howard road. Thanks for giving us a reason to walk this far along the Ridgeline, have not been in this park before. Left a signature token.
Nice quick find - only 2 places it could be and of course was in the second place checked.
nice quick find well out for a quick run. Pretty chilly day but the track was an excellent condition. Thanks for the cache
#2970. Quick find in the open. Paperwork completed and cache returned with a bit more cover.
Thanks for another smilie
Thanks for another smilie
Taking a Making Tracks trackables and a few others up here to visit so a chance to check on the cache. Log bag is ripped and I didn't have a spare but as everything is nice and dry I don't think this will be a problem.
Soon will be six months since last find so lonely cache chasers on your marks!

3 September 2016 14:38. On the way back down the ridge track now, a quick diversion to claim this one TFTC. A beautiful afternoon to be up here.
Dog needed a walk and I needed a cache or two, so up the Puriri track and along the ridge. This was cache number 3. Thanks for the cache.
#1669. Today decided to walk up Mt Lowry from the Puriri Track and pick up the caches along the ridgeline track. After completing the Mt Lowry challenge the girls and I walked back along the ridge track and then headed north to pick up this cache. I was looking for a site that matched the hint but Miss E found it nearby in a slightly different spot and quite exposed. The cache was dry. Signed the log and replaced in the same location but gave it some extra natural camo. Decided to go back via the Puriri Track rather than wander down this alternative route. Thanks for the cache.
Cache check and trackables visit including visit by a Making Tracks TB.
All good.
The sign at the top pointing to the track seems to have disappeared though the other track signs are still there. The track is in fairly good condition apart from the previously mentioned parts where it fades out somewhat.
Mention was made in an earlier log of someone having problems with where the GPS was indicating, coordinates seem OK so I guess the problem was with the GPS.

We started off on the wrong track for this one. The GPS had us considerably further off the track than the hint suggested. Once we resolved the track issue it was a quick find. TFTC
This was my third cache on our walk to Pt Howard from Puriri St so I had a short detour down Broad Gully to nab this one. Another quick find, thanks to the helpful hint. Having an awesome day out with friends (including Cassie 2010) and three geo-hounds - which, no doubt, will sleep well tonight (woof woof)! TFTC.
Our last find on a pleasant short walk up to the ridge line and down again on two separate tracks. The cache was clearly visible as we came down the track so we recovered it a little better. Surprised to see that this has not been found since February as it is pretty accessible and a nice walking area. Agree though that the track is not very well maintained at the bottom, although it is hard to get lost, just head down towards the roar of the cars! TFTC
Cache check.
In great condition, pretty much as placed which is really good considering how long it's been there.
Though the track has deteriorated somewhat towards the bottom, hard to see where it goes in places. Wondering if the track is going to be maintained or left to deteriorate further!

Why is it just when I find a cache - a cyclist comes by! Perhaps they are used to seeing people on side tracks, in bushes, looking for something. TFTC
4th find today out with Bigcheese along ridge track. Great clue. TFTC

This one had us a little bit all over the place with a GPSr that kept sending us off in a different direction. Found with MissyBeeNZ. TFTC
Find #1975. A day of mixed activity walking and cycling to collect some Wainui' valley caches on a beaut winter's day. The cache was a bit exposed so covered as well as able. SL TFTC
Took a while to start looking on the correct track, then reread the cache name and hey presto, onto the correct track, honours again to Hazza. Cheers
Was stting in open. Replaced and concealed

It has taken me some time to get back to this one. Originally a DNF for me back in January 2011.
On this occasion the find was straightforward. In fact the cache was quite out in the open, so on re-hiding I've added local camo material and made it less obvious.
Log signed, cache in order and then safely re-hidden.
TFTC
The Turtle strikes again!

Oops promises promises!
Nasty weather coming up but will get there when I can unless someone else does and reports which is possible with the August cache marathon under way.

Sounds like cache may have migrated a bit. Should be within easy reach. Probably won't get there for a week or so owing to more pressing matters at other caches, other commitments and expected bad weather when I would be available! Ignore date on this log as logged from mobile should be 13th.
Found on our trip along the main ridge track to Mt Lowry today. Nice views out over the harbour. TFTC
Nice one. TFTC.

Several years have passed since I was last in this area. Thanks for the excuse to re-visit. I good job has been made of this hide.
