A group of guys from work had planned a three day fishing trip out of Rawhiti and I was lucky enough to be invited along. Now I love fishing, but three days straight might be just too much of a good thing and so I hatched a plan to divide my time 50/50 with fishing and caching, if I could just convince the skipper to do some drop offs and pick ups.
Luckily, he agreed, so I worked out a plan of attack to get the maximum number of caches on the islands while I had transport available. After a full walk around Urupukapuka Island on Friday, Saturday was a fishing day and very successful too. Once back on shore, the tide was still low enough for a walk out to the point to look for this one.
Once at GZ, the hint was soon located, but despite searching carefully in the vicinity for any of the CO's signature hides, no cache was found, so it's possibly MIA. Thx anyway for bringing me out here.

This one got the better of me! Got to GZ, hunted around but no cache. Still enjoyed the stunning views! What a place!
I'm visiting NZ for 7 weeks and I've rented a car, making it easy to go geocaching. Today I drove from Paihia to Whangarei, via Russel and the coast. I had no idea it was soo beautiful here. It took forever to get to Whangarei, I had to stop for photos (and geocaches) every 5 minute. This is why I love geocaching, if it wasn't for all the caches that's placed here, I wouldn't have seen this part of the country.
About this cache:
A nice easy cache with the rating of d1,5/t2,5, this should be a quick and easy find. NOT!!!!!! Should be accessible at all times if you jump from rock to rock. NOT!!!!!! I came here approximately 2 hours after high tide, and there was no other option than to wade out to the cache, at one point my shorts got wet. Good thing the weather was good, so it was actually a nice experience, altough a bit scary wading around with my precious iphone in my hand. Got to the beautiful beach and started the search. Now, what made you think this was a difficulty 1,5????? I spent more than an hour searching for it!! First of all, I could just not find the triangular rock points you were hinting about, the grass was long and the forest steep and slippery with no sign of the cache anywhere. I expanded the search, but nothing helped. I decided to give up, just one more search at gz, where it all began, and voila, I found it!!! Seems like there's lots of branches that has fallen down this time of year, so they blocked the view. After doing some clean-up, I could suddenly see what you meant with the hint, and I could find the sneaky container. The container itself is enough to raise the d-rating if you ask me. Anyway, it was a really really nice beach, a fun experience wading to the cache and a nice container. If you had raised the d/t-rating and added a few more attributes, I would have given it a fp, but it was too much frustration for me here. Thank you so much for showing me this beautiful place, I would never have found it without geocaching!

TFTC, found while fishing on the rocks nearby. Decided it was time to come back as we didn't want to get stuck at high tide.
A cool little bay to come ashore in our new inflatable. No luck fishing today but better luck finding this cache after a bit of a search...BUT...we'd forgotten to bring a writing tool!!! We took photos and we can prove we really were there!!! TFTC
Great spot for a geocache. For some reason the person holding the GPS decided to climb little mountains as well as rocks but eventually we got a decent GPS feed and found the elusive hint and the very sneaky container. A beautiful winters day in the bay though a little chilly.
Just tried to find quickly but must have missed it's hide hole or something.
Can't leave MrsFox_369 for too long

Decided that if you can't rock hop...just get shoes wet, they will dry. AND it was actually nice on tired feet and legs after the walking we had done chasing after runners on the Cape Brett Challenge.
Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.
I tried for this cache yesterday, but was foiled by the high tide. As I was camping at Cable Bay on Urupukapuka Island, together with tikitour and Tiki tour, they took me across the bay on their boat for another go at the cache, without the need to walk around the rocks! After a short search and a couple of instructions from the boat, the cache was soon spotted. A nice spot, TFTC!

Unfortionatly I had nothing to write with me, was just on a morning walk from Oke Bay Lodge, where we have stayed for this week, when I thought of looking for the cache... Put in a knoted grass instead. No picture taken - there was no view TFTC!
Visiting the Bay of Islands with sister tikitour & Flowernz, we cached along the way, stopping here to hunt for this one. A scenic little beach, with a fun approach to the cache. TFTC.
After launching off the ramp we called in here for a quick grab - easier than rock-hopping?? The grass up to GZ is so deep and springy - would it make a nice bed? Thought we noticed log stuck to the tree but nope - must be something else... A gorgeous little bay but no dolphins for us today - TFTC Nick
Motored over from Urupukapuka having being "around the corner" we moved on to find this one, great location, Thanks.
Was in the area on a fishing trip so decided to sneak off and find this cache. A great location and a really wonderful hide, thanks so much for bringing us here and for all the effort you put into it A favourite for us! GC visited
Well this took a little longer to get to then i thought it might.
Had just paddled back to the main land from Urupukapuka Island and had intended to collect on way in but wind was not in my favour so just went into shore around a bit further. once all packed up set off to get cache. Tide was almost full so got the feet a bit wet and had to do some rock climbing rather then rock hopping - but easy find once there. Was looking at the triangle rock thinking wow thats neat and remembered the clue - then saw the cache - gr8 another cool BOI cache - thanks

cool nice cache took for ages to find because my aunty couldn't read a gps then i told her what to do then we found it.
Out in the area, so checked cache was ok for Riser5. All good. Found a digital camera on the beach nearby. if you have lost it, contact RussellSchool or Russell Police.
Disappointing to miss making GZ on this cache by only a few metres. Made an attempt 2hrs before high tide but couldnt make it around the last portion of cliff/rocks without swimming and there were no intentions to do that. Cant quite see how this cache is "accessible at all times if you are careful jumping rock to rock" if the tide is incoming. Tried to clamber up the hillside but with the treacherous weather and steep and slippery terrain abandoned all hope to make the find. Was there an easier route that was missed in the rain?
Well the tide was in and really just felt like a swim. Only a few rocks to hop on so enjoyed swimming around to cache. Great camo job yet again. Husband waited while I swam back again and now only to read there must be a track up and over the top. Not a prob as the water is beautiful. TFTC. Have always wanted to visit this area, so today was the day. Nice place.
Camping on Cable Bay Urupukapuka so boated over to the bay for the cache. an easy run and the cache a good find. Great camo. TFTC
Thought we might kayak to the cache from a couple bays over but as suspected, the runoff from cyclone Wilma & westerlies didn't make it so appealing; so plan B: parked at boatramp & did some quick rockhopping, found the cache easily and popped over to Oke Bay for a lovely long swim ion clear water on the lee side of the penisula. Thanks for the cache!
Not the day to be out in a boat as there waves are pounding in from the sea. What a great cache thanks for the effort. Needed to get out after being stuck inside for 3 days due to the wind and rain.
On my way to Urupukapuka for a weeks work, I had a bit of time to kill so took the walk over the top a great spot on a great day. Cool camo well hid. Thanks for this one.
FTF #3 Drove out to Rawhiti to look at a new Seal Extension Roading job nearby. Tide was just going out so a bit of a rock scramble and wet feet got me to GZ. Camo fooled me initially but once I realised, it was obvious. T4TC. A beautiful day today!
