Random spontaneous caching today with Jamesta18We both needed to get out the house to get some fresh country air after a big weekToday we visited all the places we love and just drove around exploring the beautiful surroundings until we found a cache we liked lol This one popped up, grass is high, was worried about wriggly sticks so Jamesta18 found the prize TFTC
I think we are all mad. I think one of my scariest stories about caching comes from the very next cache I go to. Hhhmmmm. Back from the future indeed. TFTC
Another chilly and misty morning out with iluvtrekking on our last day in the Barossa area. Thanks for the hide CPwanderer
Another cache found with richlink on our 2022 South Australian Adventure.
Our last full day in the Barossa and another chilly day, a perfect day for caching. TFTC.

Caching has certainly fed my sense of adventure. I’ve been know to stand on various parts of my chariot to reach a cache, my holiday plans revolve around caching locations, I’ve walked and rode vast distances as the next cache is only 154mtrs away!
I suppose I’ve become a little more crazier than BC (before caching) but hey, it gets me out and about exploring, meeting some great people and learning new things.
Today Peas&CarrotsForever and myself were feeling lucky!
August last year while doing a tasty Adventure Lab, we happened upon a little leprechaun, and so our journey began.
A perfect autumn day for a drive and a wander, to grab the last requirements, and a few random caches along the way, to hopefully find the end of the rainbow.

Are we all crazy? You bet your last cache we are !! Why else would we leave our half eaten breakfast and bolt out the door chasing a FTF?
Yep, been there, done that, but my maddest moment would be the night Jolly0 came over for the usual Friday night dinner with AussieGal88. It was a cold, dark, rainy night, we were all warm and cosy watching the news, when Jolly0 suddenly screams 'there's a new cache, not far from here, who's coming?'
Without a 2nd thought we bolted out the door and into the geomobile (Carrots stayed home to look after the geo puppy, he's not quite as crazy as us girls). The cache was a multi, so after the clues were collected it was off to GZ. Where was GZ? Just a short? walk down to the beach, in the dark with the rain now p*##*"g down.
Did any of us mad loonies wear a raincoat? of course not, did we grab night torches? no. With phone torches and little protection from the weather, we clambered over rocks, searching high and low for over an hour and guess what, we came up empty. The cache had been washed away in a king tide, 2 nights earlier. Yep, just a little crazy!! We did manage to get the FTF though after the CO replaced the cache a little further from the high tide mark.
And today, Peas is out and about geocaching with very painful plantar fasciitis and thinking, yep, I must be crazy, but it's perfect weather for meandering around the hills today, so with Jolly0 we came to collect a couple of missing clues to complete a multi that was started in August 2021.
In between collecting the clues we needed, we did the geo shuffle. You know the one, it's just a turn to the right and a veer to the left, over the hill and under the bridge, climb a few mounds, crawl under some water pipes, climb a tree or two and grab another cache. Ahhh, all part of the fun.

We were in the area, noticed this cache closeby and were attracted by the unusual name. Accurate coordinates led to a quick find of a well presented cache. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks CPwanderer for the cache.
Thanks for a nice quick find (we crossed the fence line on the way from the car, only to realise that the cache was on the other side!). Found with jambochicken, tftc
I would have never imagined Mary to be Mad. She seemed quite lucid and with it the last time we met. Nevertheless, I will take your word on this.
The cache was found and the bag was in need of attention. I returned to the car and grabbed a fresh new one, and carefully put it all back in the container. Thanks for the cache and hide CPwanderer, all in good shape here.
I mapped out a plan for the day and headed off. By the time I got to Collinswood, I had already changed directions and headed straight for the hills. I targeted the four on the hill just south of Kersbrook Cemetery. Looping back to Gumeracha and Birdwood to collect the unfound, I used Cromer Road to get to Crawford and its surrounds. A great day of caching in and around the forest, with over 50 finds and three placements. Thanks to all the CO’s for their placements and ongoing maintenance.

Found by Mary and David at 16:30. We have just come from a long lunch at the Charleston Hotel with AussieM&M, so two Marys were present. This Mary says she is the elder "twin" by a few minutes. A lovely tribute to a gorgeous soul who has been through such a lot this year. Both Mary and Mary love pathtags, so we had quite a trading session. Our thanks to CPwanderer.
The hint had me stumped for a little while, but I soon found what I came for. Left a couple of pencils, took nothing. TFTC.

Was out and about for work, and while passing, noted that this cache was not too far off the beaten track, so it was time to stop and make the find.
Parked nearby and wandered over to GZ and made a quick find of a cache, extracted the logbook, stamped it, and then replaced it all as found.

Today, gridge98 and I headed east to Mount Crawford with our bikes. I had a few targets that I had wanted to get to today, but as always, I had more targets and less time to do all of them. Our first cluster of caches was aimed at *SFE Challenge - Milestone 10,000 finds* with the *Big Fat* geocaches nearby as a loop. That was some solid riding up/down the hills, and a few geocaches were time consuming due to their hide types. After a quick Williamstown bakery lunch, we returned to another section in Mount Crawford, and concentrated on the Rocky Paddock campground area with a number of *Animal Facts* geocaches found. Gridge98 departed home, but I had another couple of rides up Tower Hill Track, and also around Rocky Paddock along Gordon Road. I completed the day with a short walk up Mount Crawford boardwalk, and a few miscellaneous finds on my return home. It was a brisk day with cold winds and a few intermittent drizzles, but otherwise not a bad day to be on the bike.
A quick find of this geocache. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks CPwanderer for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

I’m pushing north from Gumeracha, not sure how much damage the Watts Gully Rd fire two days ago did. Happy to report that I couldn’t see any damage on Forreston Rd as far as Warren Rd.

In the vicinity visiting family so made a quick detour to check on this for the CO.
New logbook and plastic bag added.
Not sure what my/our maddest caching moment is possibly some of my adventures in the presence of the CO.
I did once make an afternoon dash for a first to find whilst in my PJs after a PJ day at work.

Today's daily cache. Nice quick find of a good sized cache, however it is missing it's logbook. Unfortunately I didn't have a spare with me. TFTC
Out this way today to collect the last 2 pieces of the multi in the city, collected some other caches whilst out this way then made my way to the start of the Jack Bobridge trail to do some of them. TFTC
On my way home after a weekend in Williamstown and Mt Crawford forest I was wandering around random dirt roads stopping for caches along the way. [^] This was one of those and a quick easy find.
Thanks for the cache CPwanderer.

Mr Tardis was on the way home from the caching event this morning in Nuriootpa. I stopped here and found this in the first place I looked - don't you just love it when that happens?
6 years on since placement, and Mary is still as mad as ever
Signed the log. Thanks for the cache CPwanderer.

Having gone straight past this one last time I was here (Friday, March the 3rd, 2017) I decided to grab all those 'missed' caches and this one was first up, (find #1197) in this area [^]. I bought a lovely Custard Tart and Dare Mocha from Lovells Bakery at Birdwood before I looked for this hide [^] "Gotta start the day just right", I say Found myself SL at 09:09 on Sun 5 Mar 2017. All within the cache is perfect! TFTC CPwanderer

Returning home with brisal5 after a big caching day, in the dark, I found this cache quickly...
It is appropriate that I found this in the company of brisal5 as one of the maddest moments in my short time geocaching was when I used brisal5 as a climbing ladder to retrieve a cache high in a tree...teamwork...TFTC CPwanderer

Fortunately there was no caching Madness today just madness according to a 86YO muggle father who did not believe that these roads were appropriate for a 2WD. Anyhow an easy find made and Log signed. Thanks CP.
Before I started geocaching in 2005,
I used to climb cliffs, crawl around under bridges and into tunnels and mines, dealt with snakes, spiders, bees, more spiders, battle the open ocean in a kayak, ride me pushbike between our capital cities and travel the globe
Not too many neighbours were suspicious of me actions though
Now I am finding geocaches the only thing that has changed is that now I have millions more crazy places to head for that I didn't know existed
With the result that it now takes me a hell of a lot longer to travel anywhere than it used too !!
Cache in point ...
... pre-geocaching crossing the Nullarbor took me four days,
even with the detours.
This year it took almost two weeks heading west,
and a week to come back
A lot of mad places were visited [^]
This cache find contained no madness !! ??

Found it with Beaty Organised on our way home from our 10 Caching holiday. We were so excited to find T.B. as so many didn't have them in them when they said they did. Risked our lives on this road as like SOUP car slipping everywhere. Will soon move him on. TFTC SL TOOK TB
Found it with CherryRose on our way home from our caching holiday. We picked up the trackable. TFTC TNLNSL
Not sure about the madness of Mary. Word has it she is madder than Mad Jack McMad, winner of last year's Mr Mad competition. No mean feat in my books! TFTC CPW.
An easy find today while travelling north. Noted the log entry re the local council finding it and wishing us luck!
I am so glad to have found this one! Mary was the first other geocacher we ever met - when we beat her to a FTF. She is a great geofriend. Tftc CPW
Nice to see old tree still

Out cleaning up in M+M territory today, managed quite a few finds (for me) and no DNF's
Nice to finally get this off the to do list, plan on getting the other M of M cache later today.

A bonus for me as I'd never planned on getting this one down the road from the others. Great area today.
Clear skies to CPwanderer from TeamAstro.

My husband and kids think I am obsessed. I have climbed cliffs by myself, bumped into 3 snakes and have walked 10 kms just to get to a cache. I have driven my car along dirt roads designed for 4 wheel drives.

Still leisurely touring South Australia after the Mega
Still currently camped at Mt Crawford forest we awoke to being blanketed in fog.
By 11.00am there was no sign of it lifting so we decided we didn't really want to cache in it, so we headed off to run some errands and to target a cache for our D/T Matrix.
Of course we couldn't help ourselves and managed to grab quite a few others in a very scenic part of the Adelaide hills.

Owl was delighted to be finding this cache in the company of the famous Mary herself. Owl tries to be sensible in her caching - nothing in the rain, no cliff climbing, doesn't like night caching... but there was that mad dash to be FTF on Do Owls Eat Frogs (yes, they do!) and who could forget being brought a cache by CP to sign in her hospital bed! At least nothing mad was required to find this cache!
First find for the day on Queens birthday weekend. Nice sized cache. Dropped off Micky Dundee Travel Bug.

Found on this great autumn afternoon. Maddest moment? Paddling a canoe 10 metres to get a cache might be classed as mad! Climbing down a quarry cliff to get a cache that was easily accessible from the bottom might be another! Caching in a rainstorm, standing on the side of a road waiting for a break in the traffic soaked to the skin has got to qualify! Just bein' a cacher probably qualifies!
Took a purple skeleton and left a black spider in a web. TFTC CPwanderer!

Headed out to try for a FTF and muggle partner agreed to come for a drive (despite having heaps he wanted to do at home).
A few hours later, we had found 11 caches, had a great lunch at Amberlight Cafe at Lobethal and he even stated later that 'it was a relaxing day!'
Hmmm, the maddest moment: according to many people, for me, the question would be 'which ones[?]' rather than 'which one[?]'
Standing on the edge of the Glenelg River in the dark with GZ for a msytery cache 8m away. I was right at the cliff face and no one in the world knew where I was and of course no phone reception. That is probably the one that freaked me out the most!
Hence that is one cache that I still have to find and sign!

I could only see "the madness of ma" on the GPS.
Thought it was possibly "may" & a reference to Mr Z.
Thankfully it wasn't!
