1327 for the tribeEnjoyed some caching around the Black Mountain Summit today. Gosh its been a long time since any of the tribe were up here but the carpark is as it was then! Sadly the tower as a tourist attraction is in a state of disrepair with many closed doors and ramps. Happily the bush is beautiful as ever with some amazing scribbly gums, cracking views and interesting rock formations to be seen.Cache in great condition with plenty of room in the logbook. Totally agree with the cache description, this flat loop walk around the top of the mountain is just sensational. Stunning views, vegetation, wildlife and time away from the bustle of life and cars travelling at 80km/hour below.

We walk the Scenic Forest Trak on the Black Mountain. So we visit the Tower and some Caches. Thank you for the Caches !

In Canberra to attend the Capital Geo Bash mega event. I attended the Queanbeyan Mega event a couple of years ago which is when I did a lot of the touristy things. This trip was more focused on Geocaches. There has been an abundance of new high quality caches published since my last visit so more than enough to keep me busy. After attending an early morning event, I drove up to the top of Black Mountain for a few caches. After completing some nearby challenge caches, I continued along the Forest track to pick up a few traditionals. Found without problems. Thank you bubble & squeak, for placing Black Glen for the geocaching community.# # SmileSmile #14413 SmileSmile # #

Massive caching days continue. My online logs do not match with days found simply because I cant keep up with online logging sorry. My alliance of 5 all from WA are three young fit boys and two less young ladies who try to keep them honest. We have been up trees and ladders way more than I like and, like all geocachers who insist on wearing shorts in hot weather, our legs are ripped to shreds from hiking. Logging WAC since the three boys usually cache with a fourth called the Cockburn Crew based on their LGA. Having an almost totally cleared map locally, its difficult to explain the excitement of having a map that has caches literally everywhere. Ive cached in Canberra once with my partner and also at the Queanbayen mega but theres still so many to find. Long days and during the few hours allocated to sleep Im so sore I barely sleep anyway. Thanks so much for your contribution to making the days so exhausting and enjoyable. Much appreciated!

Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. All logs have been signed as WAC to save space, abbreviation for Western Australia Crew. Cheers bubble & squeak! Big GrinJoin us in Augusta, in Western Australias South West, for WA Goes Big 2024 (GCAGV8Y) on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September. Log your will attend now!

The Cockburn Crew are on tour at the Capital Geobash in Canberra - travelling from Perth to Sydney, Canberra, Sydney and finally back to Perth.Today was day 2 and we had an absolute blast. After being up late last night we backed it up again this morning with an early start to make the most of the cooler weather and lack of muggles in the morning cold. We completed a huge number of trails, challenges, whereigos, traditional, multis, earthcaches, labs, virtuals and puzzles. It really was a great day for variety. We enjoyed the large number of virtuals, and caching in territory we havent been before. Weve filled our boots with some of the oldest caches in Australia, some rare DTs and DTTs and generally had a great time. Thanks to the COs for a great day and event. Logs signed as part of team WAC (WA Crew)

The Adelaide Leap Day Mega and Canberra Geobash gave us a great excuse for a road trip. This trip has shown us so many new and interesting places as weve chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites.Meeting up with friends old and new along the way, we sometimes cached together and sometimes alone but always had a great time. This morning we went for a hike around Black Mountain before attending a well attended event at the summit. Afterwards we borrowed a ladder from a friend and targeted some caches requiring it. The weather was perfect for being outside today and we enjoyed exploring the area cache by cache. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache and adding to our enjoyment.

Today I had a plan on grabbing a variety of caches and all with a varying degree of types and difficulties. There is a great number of caches with special attributes and d/t's around town. For me it was an early start and I first took off to grab a cache and a virtual after I had fueled up at the local servo. I then raced off to grab a few more before I had to meet up with my caching buddy of the day Grannysmith. We had a huge day and a lot of laughs, there were few stories to catch up on and some great caches.Logs were signed and caches replaced as found. Thanks for the hides.

Find # 8568

Making the most of the opportunity to duck out for a few hours of caching fun. Seeking out the occasional challenge or two, or trying to mop up as many solves as I can to keep that long list under control. Seems to increase faster than it decreases

Took the direct downhill route from the top so it was a bit tricky. Exiting via the path is much easier: David

17-Jun-23
Found with thisguy9275 as a nice way to round off a trip out to Yass while watching the sunset. Tried accessing via what the trails map made out to be the most reasonable route from the carpark at the top of the mountain, whatever we did was definitely above a 1.5 terrain! Either way we found the cache safe and sound, no problems there. TFTC Smile)

Cache 9137 on 7 Aug 2022.

After a lazy start to the morning, I decided to get some exercise and do the Agent Basel Black Mountain AL walk. Decided to grab this cache along the way, as I had been meaning to grab this one for years, and never quite got there. Found the cache at the Southern end of the bridge after scrabbling around the northern end for a bit.

Thanks bubble & squeak for the cache and the fun!

Having climbed from the base up most of the way to the summit, we took a quick detour for this hide. I'm pretty sure we have swing by here before but had no luck (unsure if the hide was MIA like previous logs suggest it was for a while, or we just didn't have our caching brain on...). Regardless, today it was a quick find as the hide was easily spotted. Our name was then added to the log and we were on our merry way. TFTC bubble & squeak Smile

Lovely day for a stroll down a mountain we decided to attempt the hidden valley trail up Black Mountain.
Picked this one up at the beginning of our journey. Have been looking at this one on the map for sometime but never got down to it until now. Quick find and we were on our way. A few muggles passed us by on the trail all very covid safe.

Thanks for the hide bubble & squeak and thanks Rapidlywild for the fun day out and about.

After a long dry spell from caching (with the random here and there), plans were made with the FFLL ladies to go for a wander using our allowed 4 hours of outdoor exercise. We decided to head down Black Mountain to give the Hidden Valley mini series a crack. It has been a while since I have ventured onto this mountain so it was good to get out again. The weather was great and fortunately, it wasnt wet underfoot.

The contours on this mountain are insane and very decieving. Although you may only drop 1 controur on the map, the number of dips and rises within that contour really challenges you. We made our way towards this one, and cache was soon in hand. Had to wait out some wandering muggles before replacing the cache, but it was soon back in spot and we were soon again on our way.

Thanks for the cache placement bubble & squeak and thanks to the FFLL ladies for a lovely day out on Black Mountain Big Grin

Parked down near Aranda Snow Gums and headed across from there. Made the ascent in around 25 minutes and had the GZ to myself for the find. The last time I was here I hadn't even heard of geocaching so that was at least prior to 2014. So thankyou bubble & squeak for bringing me back. TFTC.
