It was a cold, windy day with the occasional drop of rain. However, fun was had getting this and several other caches in and around the National Arboretum and cork forest. We did it by bike as the trails in the arboretum and cork forest are lots of fun. The weather ensured we had the trails to ourselves. So, a bit of fun was had taking hard corners and jumps.TFTC
Ive ridden through the cork forest a few times, this took me to an unexplored corner! Nice peaceful day Thanks for this lovely cache.
Day #1 of 2 - With a free weekend and three geocaching events in Canberra, I decided on heading over for an overnight stay. I also asked if The Drovers wanted to tag along and the answer was yes. So we headed over Saturday morning and met up for Bfast at Gold Creek Maccas. Afterwards, we found a trail of caches, [somewhat] leading towards the first event of the day. Todays event was a CITO. I always love a good CITO and this one was no different. Lots of rubbish collected, all talk Geo was had and even a cache found. Next we headed off and found caches around the suburb of Hawker which was not far from the CITO location. Amongst the cache finds, we had KFC for lunch. Then we headed over to the motel to check in. Once that was done, we headed off and found some caches around Queanbeyan before getting dinner and some sleep before tomorrows adventures.Day #2 of 2 - Today there are two events but before that there was caching to do. We went and found several caches around the suburb of Yarralumla. Some easy and others harder to find. They were a mixture of different cache types/containers/hides which added to the fun of the day. Then it was time for the first of the two events. I was very surprised. It was a great organised event to teach everyone about rope activities. We even had a got to have a go. Thanks so much. Once the event was over, we headed off to the nearby Oporto for lunch. After lunch, The Drovers and I parted ways. So now by myself, I headed up the hill to the Arboretum to find some more caches and ALs before heading to the next event. At the second event now, I was one of the first there and I also one of the first to do the rope climb. This time the trees was taller and I got to the top in which was described as, in record time. Anyway, it was great fun and an awesome idea for an event. I hope you continue these instructional types of events in the future. Then it was time to head home. At about the halfway mark I made a quick and easy final find for the weekend.Unless otherwise stated, the caches we found over the weekend, were quick & easy finds and were in good condition. It was a great weekend away and a big thanks to The Drovers for tagging along. Most caches were signed as JM to save room on the logsheet/book. TB visit. Of course a big thanks also goes to the CO for adding this cache to game for the Geocaching community to enjoy. TFTEs & TFTCs!
So sorry. I lost my pen so couldn't sign this, but my dog and I found it after a lovely cool and foggy morning wander in the cork oaks.
I decided today was the day to clean up some caches I was still missing at The National Arboretum. These Cork Oaks are stunning to walk through, it feels like I'm in a different world! Nice easy find once I spotted the likely hiding spot. Thank you for the cache!
Nice little stroll through the cork trees to find this cache. Thanks for the hints to get us close.
We had been exploring the Arboretum all day and decided to find a couple of caches on our way out. This was our final location for the day.
As we made our approach to GZ, we spotted some kangaroos grazing nearby. Had to reassure my daughter that they weren't going to attack us...
At GZ, we walked straight past it. I turned back and spotted it straight away. Then both kids yelled, "found it" in unison. The race was then on apparently to see which kid could get to it first and retrieved it. They decided to make it a group effort so no tears were shed... thankgoodness!
With the log signed and everything replaced as found, we headed back towards the car, exhausted from our exploration.
TFTC and the adventure!

Found this from a walk through the Arboretum. Cache was in good condition, and very dry. TFTC
Visiting from Ireland and in the last few days of our hols in Canberra. Loved walking in the Cork Forrest and coffee at the arboretum. Nice easy find tftc
out on a beautiful summer day for the geokiddies to show their grandparents the arboretum and the "hide and seek" trees in the cork plantation.

#1870 My easiest find of the afternoon after completing a Multi and a Mystery elsewhere in the Arboretum. Got to GZ and noticed this one looking out at me. Retrieved, signed the log
Cache was out in the open but in good condition. Have popped back into a logical spot for a hide. TFTC!
Out for a lovely walk in the forest with the Walking Church crew. William and Bella were very keen for a cache so we diverted off to into the Forrest to make the find such an enjoyable adventure - now it’s time for a cool drink up at the cafe! Thanks for the cache.
Today’s adventures out and about around the Arboretum and surrounds on a blustery ️ winter’s day.
All logs in good condition unless otherwise noted.
Thanks to COs for placing and maintaining these caches

A weekend in Canberra before the whole state turns to poo with COVID lockdowns. We visited the Arboretum and the Botanic Gardens and did 3 Ad Labs and quite a few trads (though missed a few as well) - was cool and rainy but the kids were generally happy.
We headed down the hill into the Cork forest - while the rest of the family wandered the track I diverted into the trees and found a cache. This was the first - not certain in the original hide based on the hint but I soon found in the obvious spot.

If something is important enough you do it. Even if the odds are not in your favour.
Decided to take the bikes to the arboretum on a beautiful sunny morning. Having never been to this area it was so lovely to find all the caches and see lots of others also taking advantage of a beautiful day. Thanks for placing and maintaining these caches!
Not wrong about finding spiders here. At this time of year at least there is barely an open space not occupied by an orb weaver. I was grateful that the cache had been dislodged from it's hide and was easy to spot. Returned it to it's home of course.
Lots of spiderwebs on the way, and a few with active spiders, finally made it to the cork walk
Today I targeted the traditional caches around Glenloch Interchange and the Cork Oak forest for a nice morning walk before the forecast thunderstorms rolled in. This cache was a straightforward find at GZ. Thanks, Geo_Lithofacies..
Thank you for the cache. We had a great time searching for it!

In the obvious place really! Lovely corner of the cork oak forest. It amazes me how quiet it can get in here when it is so close to such a main road, it’s like the cork absorbs the sound
Found it. Not very well hidden. Have buried it more to conceal it from the muggles.
A nice quick easy find after getting pretty wet and muddy. TFTC Geo_Lithofacies!!
Out for a stroll with my 3 year old and thought it was about time I picked up a cache or two. It's been awhile and nice to be back. TFTC #179
