Hello BigglesNZ,Another day, another Cache.Together with Dr Donna travelling through New Zealand. We arrived at Auckland Airport and made our way up north. After visiting Cape Reinga we went on our way South to reach Stewart Island with stops in many different Citys all over the country. Of course we have an open eye for nice Caches but take what we can get. Today we came across your Cache "Mt. Robert from Lake Rotoiti" and signed the logbook with our names or took pictures for Virtuals or Earthcaches and answered all questions asked. Its great how many nice spots we are able to discover through our journey and how many of them we only See because of Geocaching! Thanks for bringing us to this place and takeing care for the geocache.

What a spectacular site for an earth cache. We parked at the beach near the jetty and walked along a beautiful little path to get to gz for this cache. The answers were quickly gathered, we talked about the vegetation in mt Robert as you described in the listing, and then wandered back to the main beach for some lunch. A definite favourite, thank you! Visited with Rumpuslabs

First stop of the day in St. Arnaud. Sunny weather and no wind. As we arrived around noon also not to many sandflies. In short, perfect conditions to stroll around and find some caches.
We opted for the Peninsula Nature Walk. Interesting place to learn something and just rest a while and admire the scenery. We took our picnic there.

Prior to geocaching I had only been on this track one time. Bit we have walked this track several times since being involved with geocaching including some ftfs along the track. Each time I have been on it in recent years I think we should get around to logging this earthcache.
Today is the day that we finally got around to it - there is a souvenir up for grabs that has prompted us to get on with sorting out the required information and sending it to the CO.

With a positive message in reply the log has been okayed by BigglesNZ. This is such a fascinating and beautiful area - we are always happy to pop up to the Lake and go for a wander.

Thanks for the earth cache and thank you for the smiley

We have been traveling for a couple of months now and worked our way to Saint Arnaud. We have been here before but there is so much to see. I have also been fascinated by the glacial processes. There are so many examples in New Zealand. We walked around the point to here and gathered the required information. Didn't know about the fire, on Mout Robert. Thanks for setting up this Earth Cache BigglesNZ

Smile Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are now parked up at the DoC Campsite at West Bay, St Arnaud for a couple of days, exploring in & around the local area … we decided to go for a walk from the campsite to St Arnaud & return via the Peninsula Walk … & we thought it would be rude not to check out some caches on the way … we like doing Earthcaches, so looked forward to finding the required answers & getting them sent off … done & logging this in anticipation of receiving the ‘all clear’ … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... 22-Aug-21
Sitting at home in level 4 lockdown solving puzzles and writing up others I had info for, saved up for times like this. This was one. After two visits to the site a few weeks ago, one for info and one for examination of the rock, I had enough for the CO to confirm my answers. A safe way to tick up a smiley without leaving home or touching anything. And, I learned something too. A bonus of an Earthcache. Guess I will be looking for another for international Earthcache Day in a couple of months.

29-Mar-21
After following a trap trail as a shortcut back to the carpark, we found ourselves more and more off course, so ended up back at the point. Saw more varied bird-life, and closer up as well, so worth the extra walking. Stopped for a snack and a rest here, and did this Earthcache, while we watched a DOC boat come in and unload picks, shovels, adzes, and a heavy-duty chainsaw - looks like some track maintenance is about to occur. Thanks a lot for a great Earthcache.

Lovely to log an Earthcache with NZ5 on our family holiday at St Arnaud. As expected the weather has been variable the last 6 days, and we found this on our Peninsula Walk yesterday which we took between breaks in the rain. We collected six traditional, one multi and this Earthcache, so good day for the stats! There were two mugglers making use of the bench so we took photos of the board and explored the rock, then sent the answers from home. TFTC!

Another great spot for an Earth Cache!
We spent several days here and "found" this cache while doing the Peninsula loop. We made a shortcut once back at the road, going down a "blue triangle walk" - definitely for the advanced walkers, but it wasn't very long (just quite steep) so we made it.
At GZ we had a rest, sitting, relaxing and enjoying the views. Nelson Lakes is really a nice place to be!

31-Dec-19
Beautiful spot. Enjoyed learning about the geologic history thru your cache.

27-Dec-19
Ahhh, only one muggle left at the seat and we struck up a conversation about the fires that had plagued the area back a few centeries ago and the various trips we had done in the area over the years. Found the info, measured and looked at the rock and sent my answers off. Cheers

I love a good physical geography earthcache, and this is no exception. Nice view here across the lake. I have yet to get up Mt Robert or Angelus, so this is on my to-do list.
TFTC Biggles.

Jo had Monday off, so we decided a trip somewhere was in order. St Arnaud or Nelson? We decided on the former and in retrospect were glad we did. The weather in Blenheim was average, but it was not bad up here although we were prepared for the worst.
The target area was Gowan river, the top of Lake Rotorua, Braeburn walk and track and a short walk in St Arnaud on the way home.
A good mix of PnGs and walking ones, 40 or so for the day. Thanks everyone.

Staying with friends at the Lakes overnight and out for an afternoon walk around the peninsula.

It was only after a bit I remembered that I had some unfound caches here so thought to remedy that situation with the help of six sets of eyes.

A quick stop for a sit and admire the view here and whilst the girls did the research out friends son went exploring the rock to see how smooth or rough it might be.

Beautifully tranquil here this afternoon with some learning thrown in too.

Logged with permission.

Thanks BigglesNZ

We're well into our second week in this beautiful country. I wish I had more time to explore the many, many wonderful things to see and places to go in this country. I'm quite comfortable in New Zealand as it reminds me of home - mountains, glaciers, and the seashore. It's getting close to the end of a three month adventure, mostly away from home. micaparamedic arrived at my place in Washington State toward the end of July and we immediately headed down to Oregon to find some old caches for his Jasmer challenge. From there we headed up north to The Yukon and Northwest Territories in Canada for a few weeks.

We attended the mega APE event in Washington, and the same day headed down to camp on a farm in Oregon where we were directly in the path of a total solar eclipse. Back at my place, we took a few day trips before heading to Australia where we spend almost a month doing many things on my bucket list including walking around Uluru and seeing the Sydney Harbour. Now we're spending a few weeks in New Zealand (which was also on my bucket list) before once again going our separate ways. What a trip!

This was a great walk in a peaceful area. Thanks for bringing us here.

Well a few months ago I didn't expect to be down this way quite so soon, but after having completed the requirements for the DGSc Challenge my very Good Wife surprised me for my birthday with some tickets from Hamilton to Nelson return so that we together could have a caching weekend. (now those that may know my wife wil understand that the terms caching and weekend wil ever rearly be used in the same sentence).

So of course the weekend was more about sightseeing in the limitied time that we hand and finding the 25 caches that were on my list which mainly included the older caches, earthcaches and large caches. In total we found 30 caches and covered 870kms while enjoying being in afar different environment than we were used to.

So taking the remaining part of the Friday off of work, and arriving in Nelson at 3pm it was a chance to grab the rental car and start by making our way to Reefton where we would spend our first night. The second night was to be spent in Punakaiki, so tonight we head to St Arnuard for a bit of a relax by the lake
This cache being the twenty sixth of the weekend. Heading along here for the last earthcache for the weekend after dinner and just enjoying the peice and quiet of the lakes edge. thanks for brining me to this spot

On a caching trip via Chch, Hanmer Springs & onto St Arnaud.

This was one of my must do caches on this trip. It had so much information for the kids, although they got distracted by wading to and climbing on the rock, they are rock climbers after all! Mr Swiss and I read out the info boards and soaked in the atmosphere of Jean's spot.

Thank you for bringing us to this fabulous spot.

Ninalila and I spent a few days visiting around Nelson's lakes and Karamea.
We went hiking to discover nice places and landscapes, and of course play geocaching at the same time Smile
We found all the boxes without difficulty and discovered really good spots for photography.
We will keep good memories from everything we saw (Lake Rotoiti, Lake Rotoroa, Mt Robert, Moria Gate Arch, Mirror Tarn...)
It was a good opportunity to see a lot of native birds on each tracks we went.
So surprising to see them so close and get great pictures Smile

We signed on logbooks with our team nickname : Lekiprokos Cool

Thank you to all owners and their boxes for the discoveries we made.

fefe.adrien and I have visited the lake Rotoiti.
During our walk on one of the famous track around the lake, we solved this earthcache.
It was very interesting to learn more about the glacial geology & morains, about pionniers & the big fire.
Nice to see that today the forest and the wildlife is in progress.
Nice view from the spot, especially debris flow of streams on the Mount Robert.

TFTEC ! Smile
