Back down south for another mega weekend!! Great to be able to visit the area again and enjoy some caching and catching up with friends. Cached with loads of different people over the weekend and checked out the local yummies. Found this one with GLISS! . Thanks to all the cache owners who set and maintained the caches. Great to have been able to add this one to my collection. Thanks for the cache. Spotted some TBs at this one.
This was the last day of caching for Marchwood, Kiscardi and me. While we were in the area, we found several odd caches. TFTC.

Yay! Road trip! Down from Canberra for the Mega and all of the caching and the fun!
After attending the Mega and having an awesome time, it was time for me to head off back home to Canberra. Swung by this one to make the find and drop off a couple of TBs-making it my final find of the weekend. A poor sheep seems to have passed away at the back of the yard within the last week.
Thanks for the hide, emntodd

Today was clean up day. After a big weekend already, today was our last day around the Rutherglen area so we focused on cleaning up where we could. Our main focus was collecting the new FTF Explosion multis that were released yesterday so after gathering the required information for them yesterday afternoon and last night, we had a heap of solved ready to be found. Read some interesting information boards along the way.
Thanks for the cache placement purpledreamer and thanks FFLL for another fun filled weekend.

The Rutherglen Mega – Easter 2023
This was another a-MAZE-ing Mega, hosted by Geocaching Victoria. Thanks so much, for bringing me here and for the enjoyment it has brought me over the weekend.
Day #1 [6/4] – After a massive day of work, I headed off to my overnight stop in Culcairn. Along the way, I stopped off at an AL waypoint, in Henty. My only find of the day. Now time for some sleep and get ready for arriving at the Mega tomorrow.
Day #2 [7/4] – Its Mega day! I started off the day by finding a cache across the road of my motel in Culcairn, before getting breakfast. After breakfast I headed out of town and I arrived at the Rutherglen showgrounds at 9am. I was pleased to check in and sign the attendance book. I also did the ‘GPS Maze’, today. I caught up with many people and I also found the lab caches. During the gaps of the Mega fun and during the non-raining times, I headed out to find as many caches as I could. I found the letterbox caches, attended the 3 events [2 GC and 1 GA] and found a couple of caches around the area. While at the GA event many moveable caches were discovered and signed. After the dinner event at the end of the day, I went did some bush bashing in the dark of the night to find a 2006 cache. I made sure I found it, as it fulfils part of a self-imposed challenge. Now, time to head to the motel and head to bed, so I’m ready for my last day tomorrow.
Day #3 [8/4] – My final day. Anyway, I still have much planned which included finding the bike trail caches, finishing the Solar System series and finding a couple of multi-caches. Also, on the way home, I decided on avenging a DNF. But before that, I started the day with breakfast at Macca’s. Next I found a couple more labs, some of which I missed yesterday. After a phone call, my bike riding buddy (Joelisa) was running late. This meant I could find the rest of the Solar System Series and a couple of others. I arrived at the starting point of the bike trail and was greeted by Ms Maddy who was getting ready for the bike ride. While we were getting ready If and Joelisa arrived and we decided on heading off and doing it together. The caches along the bike trail were **signed as 8/4/23 JIMM**. The group consisted of Joelisa [J], If [I], Ms Maddy [M] and Myself - JohnoMawbs [M for Mawbs]. We did most of the trail along the way to Wahgunyah, found a couple of other caches, had lunch and for the return trip, found the five we missed for the return trip to Rutherglen. Then we went our separate ways. I headed off to meet up with The Drovers before leaving. I found two caches along the way home. The second of the two, I avenged a DNF. Now time to get home as I have a very busy day tomorrow.
I will need to return at some point, so I can complete the ‘bird’ mystery cache power trail at some point. Also all the new multi-caches which have just been published. So, these caches have been put on my, to do list. In other words, I’LL BE BACK.
TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found this weekend and for allowing them to bring me and the Geocaching community enjoyment. TFTE’s and TFTC’s

When we arrived, there was one muggle that was just sitting in his car, watching what we were doing. We read all that we could then GT37 pulled out her camera and very obviously started taking photos of all around. The muggle very quickly left and we made a quick find. Thanks for the cache.
Decided to have a few days in Rutherglen before the mega so we could spend our time at Easter doing mega mania stuff.
With so much geoart and solved puzzles we had a great time taking in the delights and caches of this area. Thanks to all the CO’s who’ve contributed to our adventure.

Found easily and in great condition. I think the D/T rating of this is off though. Anyway, thanks for looking after this cache. TFTC.
Geoson was unhappy. I can understand that. We'd been on a week long jaunt to NSW to visit family. Geodaughter had her birthday while we were up there. There were presents, there was cake, there was an awful lot of attention on both of them. Then we were in the car. Driving. Boring. A few caches to liven things up. Geodaughter is in a booster seat and can get herself in and out of the car. Geoson is still in a carseat. I have forbidden him from playing with the seatbelt. Geodaughter has gotten out to look for caches many times. Geoson has not. So this one was all about him. Unfortunately, he's too little to see GZ in place, so I lifted him up. But neither of us could reach it, so we all tumbled out of the car to retrieve the cache. Geoson got first pick of the swaps. Now he is happy. But geodaughter is not. Such is life.
Staying at Rutherglen on our sixth day we ventured to Howlong as it was still wet and we decided to leave the trails alone, again and try and do some drive by caches and this was one of them.
Cache and contents were in good condition.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Found by Rebel Acts, in the Company of my good friends Roostaman, Mrs Roosta and Ski Pair, we were all able to find a free week to get away and do some caching around the Rutherglen area, we had a great time despite some very frustrating hides.
This is one of the caches found today. I love visiting old school sites, even better if a few relics are about.
All logs signed as Rebel Acts or RASP (Rebel Acts & SKI Pair).
Thanks emntodd for the cache.

Day 4 in Rutherglen. Plenty of rain overnight, which continued on and off throughout the day.
We weren't to be thwarted however and headed out anyway dodging the heavier showers and getting wet in between anyway.
We looked for a range of caches in the immediate Rutherglen area and headed back out to complete some in the north and north-west we had run out of time on yesterday.
Puzzles, multis and trads were the main fare with good-sized hides in most caches. Congratulations to the local cachers.
With good company and a lot of fun it was still another good day.

Staying at Winton but today visiting Corowa, Rutherglen, Albury and Wodonga and caching along the way. Variety of caches found and interesting places visited. Thanks to the CO for the caches.
Suscoe headed out this today for a circular trip from Wangaratta to almost Wodonga and then out through Browns Plains to Wahgunyah and back through the farmlands to Wangaratta.
It was a pleasant trip with the temperature reaching 30 in the car but from time to time we had clouds and a bit of wind that seemed to cool us a little.
It is strange to see the greenish tinge to the grass as we wound our way between caches.
Thanks to purpledreamer for this placement, we do enjoy visiting old school sites.

Our quick escape to freedom from the prison known as Melbourne is now over and we are returning to Victoria via a few lab caches as work beckons for tomorrow.
If we had a dollar for every school site that we visited since we began geocaching we would be quite well and would have plenty of fuel to go and visit more. We always wonder what happened to the families that supported these abandoned schools and if any are still living in the area or if they have all moved on to better pastures.
The cache itself was a nice easy find right where the GPSr was pointing and the log book now contains our name.
We can't believe that the CO has been gone for over 9 years and every time we find one of her caches it brings back nothing but good memories.
Many thanks purpledreamer and whoever is maintaining it for her.

We've escaped from home for a few days -the first break for at least three years. Although caching is on the menu we'll also have some relaxing time. Day one was from home to Wodonga and included five GA caches and four GC caches.

Always interesting to see where is the smaller school were back in the early days, how long they lasted and how many students attended. Imagine if there that many schools today?? Picked up TB to move on. TFTC
TFTC. We were heading to Wodonga from Myrtleford. As we were running early we did a detour loop through Chiltern and on to the Murray Valley Highway to find a few more caches.
A great little rest stop as we travelled. The find was quick, then we took some time to read about the history of the site.

A quick park and find on the way to Wodonga for a night with family from what was another amazing trip with the wogs, grogs and clogs. My wife reinforced a bike strap to the boot of the car while I made the find, dropping a tb and picking up the one placed here. tftc

Found by edmil & maddie. Decided to check out the location for future stops if needed and lo and behold there was a cache in the vicinity and an easy find at that. Another cache added to our meager finds for 2019. Thanks for the cache, no swaps were made but the log was signed and returned to its hide. The vicinity of the is a nice piece of history.
