Hi there Cache Owner,

This cache has been flagged by Geocaching HQ as a cache that **possibly** needs some attention. You may recall having received an automated email from Geocaching HQ which explained what you needed to do.

Unfortunately, nothing seems to have happened, so the cache is being temporarily disable - see here: [**Geocache Health Score.**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=713)

**You do need to respond in some way within 14 days,** so others know you are on top of it, as well as indicating exactly what is happening with this placement - please don't let a lack of communication scuttle this listing.

#What you need to do:-#
You have a number of choices so pick the one that applies from this handy list:-

- **Check On The Cache**

- **Place A Write Note Log**

- **Adopt Out or Archive**

Full details for each of the above choices can be found at [**GEOCACHE MAINTENANCE**]( https://wiki.groundspeak.com/display/GEO/Victoria) on the Regional Policies page.

You might wonder what happens if you don't pick one of the above. Well, when the cache is next checked by a Reviewer, if the issue has not been addressed, or there is no acknowledgment as requested above, it will be assumed the cache has been abandoned. [xx(]

It would be far better if you decide, so please do something before then. Please don't send an email but instead follow the information/advice posted above.

Had another go at this one knowing there was a possibility of over 3 years of unlove.
No luck though.
I think this cache needs checking.

With only two caches left within our permitted radius, our attention turned to this one. We had tried looking for the reflectors, without any luck, however a previous finder gave us some clues about the waypoints, and although one of the dog tags appears to be missing, with the help of a previous finder we were able to calculate GZ. Our GZ matched the previous found logs. We had a thorough, thorough search through the overgrown area, but found nothing but a frisbee. After about 30 mins, we paused to play some frisbee golf, before returning for another thorough search, expanding our search area, but all to no avail.

I'm on a quest to find Multis this month so I thought I would give this one a try tonight... sadly, I didn't get past finding the seat at the published coordinates. I flashed my torch around but no reflectors flashed into view. Either my torch wasn't good enough (I think it was as it was visible on the tree tops 100m away)... or there has been too much vegetation growth and the reflectors are hidden... or the reflectors are missing... or I wasn't looking in the right direction.

Not wanting to waste my journey I thought I would look for the WP1 dog tag at the base of likely trees... it was only after I got home and read the previously logs closely that I realised that I had probably been wasting my time. The logs of 29 Feb 2020, kind of suggest that the dog tag for WP1 is missing...

Tried to attempt this tonight but could not see the reflectors with my head or hand held torch. Will have to come back another time.

*29 Feb 2020, Found @3:59 pm, Find # 3617.*

Tackled this one during the day after attending the event nearby. A few hiccups getting started, but then we were on a roll.

**Thanks to Splad for placing this cache.**

What fun this turned out to be. Perhaps we shouldn’t have tried to do this in daylight, but I couldn’t see when I’d have a chance to try it another time and three others, including someone who had found it years ago. It turned out his memory wasn’t as good as he assured us. That was OK. We tried to find the first waypoint, but we did locate the second one , unfortunately surrounded by bees, which probably wouldn’t be a problem in the dark. I tried to reverse engineer our route back to waypoint 1. A PAF confirmed we had the correct coordinates to find the final, which all worked out perfectly- a true team effort. None of us could have worked it out alone.

A brain, a foot, a cat and a banana walk into a multi.
What could possibly go wrong?
After meeting up at a nearby cache, surefoot24 and I were thinking of giving this night cache a crack in the... well, not night.
Seeing them at the previous find, B1 and jascat joined us for the adventure and we found ourselves at WP1.
As it turns out, reading the cache description can do wonders (oops) and sourcing WP1 was our first task.
Many trees were investigated, none of which had reflectors or non-identification tags.
It was at this point that I realised that night caches are probably best done at night.
Some weird projections later (I'm still not really sure how we did that) and we walked through the park to where the east coords were.
It appears as though the bees have claimed ownership over this tree but allowed us to get close enough to grab the information required.
Alas, this still didn't answer our burning question of "where are the south coordinates?", so some more weird projections, guesses and general wizardry later and we ended up at a nice and shady spot where the cache nor the south coords were not but a PAF was called in and we got the missing piece.
Off to gz we went, the group of us traipsing through the hills and passing a few people enjoying frisbee golf.
The banana spied the hiding place of the cache and we all passed it around to sign and discover the TB inside.
Thanks to Splad for placing this cache and giving us an adventure, proving that night caches are optimally found at, y'know, night.

We found Splads Cache Night #1 Park Lake Ruffey on a lazy afternoon drive around the suburbs

We had calculated GZ quite some time ago but couldn’t find the cache in the dark. We left in frustration.

Back in the area today doing a CITO we returned in daylight and eventually found the very well hidden cache. 6 months of unlove as well. Picked up a TB that appears to have been here since May last year!

Thanks Splad for hosting this event so that we could come and enjoy ourselves

Grub62 and I were out trying to keep up our dayly streak and also get our 1st night cache. Well to the experienced night cacher we would have really looked like newbies. We thought we had found WP1 but decided we were mistaken. So we wandered around aimlessly until we finally arrived back were we 1st thought it was. When we 1st tought we were wrong we were right or something like that? On the way to WP2 we had a bit of a wander round until we found that ( a little more convincingly than WP1). So we now were able to work out the co-ordinates to GZ. When we got there and read the hint I knew there was a problem. There was no way to see any UPS as the undergrowth was so high due to recent rain with patches of sunny days. After blundering around for ages again I finally had a sighting of colour!!! Hooray, success. TFTC and a night to remember.

Bunadoorian and I thought we would try our luck at a night cache. This one to keep my daily streak going! Well where do I start. Looking and searching with the torch light - I have to wonder if the answer was yes to the MARRY ME? spray painted on the grass. Having spied a reflector went to towards it but it when we continued to read the long description it made more sense to be waypoint 2 - so back to start to have another look..... No it must be waypoint 1. Now on to way point 2..... Is that a reflector - no sadly I was blinding a possum in a tree! Oh now we see it and the clue made more sense. Ok now to find GZ..... We think the difficulty rating should be higher in winter as the green garlic weed was growing so well it was hard to see anything under it. Luckily Bunadoorian finally spied it after walking around as the phone's GPs wasn't playing very fair and staying very static. TFTC Splad our first successful night cache.

Dad and teen are chipping away at night caches. Duffey lake park is a bit of a favourite destination so we elected to try aSplad cache.

Somehow managed the waypoints and projections with nary a misstep - this is unthinkable. And we even managed to navigate a fallen reflective headband.

Did our usual jitterbug routine at the GZ before finding the cache on our second lap of the area. TFTC and travel bug has been placed.

Find #3955. Found @ 21:00

My self-appointed challenge for the year is to get 1000 finds for the year, and I've fallen behind in that. To get me closer, I decided to pick up some caches North of work.

Ok, so there are many ways to muck up a night cache...
1) Arrive too early - no problem, go and find a couple of nearby trads to kill some time
2) Get to WP1 and immidately shine your torch on a passing muggle - other than a startled muggle, I think I got away with it
3) Stuff up the projection - I spotted that immediately as the GPSr was pointing in the wrong direction
4) Spot the second reflector before the first at the Eastern coordinate section
4a) I looked for the second reflector for ages, with no luck.
4b) Then I decided to search around nearby trees for the dog-tags, with no luck.
4c) Then I spotted a three digit number on a tree, and figured 'oh, the cache must have been changed slightly' and used that
5) Believing that the GZ could be out of the park in what looked like house area. Yeah, nope. A long walk for nada.
6) Back to Eastern coordinate section and looking around more, and more until I spotted the dog-tag on the initial tree, and that looked like a more likely GZ.

After all that, the search at the final location was not too bad, I went straight for the hint and I did have to expand my search area a bit. With the cache found, I was outta there.

Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache Splad_

Found with my dad, BoatieTim... now I have my own account.

19:29, July 1, 2018, # 778, out with AliFS and a few others today doing a few in this area. A fun evening cache with everyone. A bit of maths and geography hindered us a bit but we finally got the prize yipeeee... TFTC.

Caching buddies: Riddell & Boetietim & Tim_Amy

Frozen fingers, last cache for the day ends with a night cache. We had a little bit of distress as we were all confused about the degree of projection! 3 tries later, we finally got the correct waypoint. And as predicted, we spotted the reflectors and got the information we needed. At the end, BTT spotted it hidden in foliage

Out caching today and tonight with Boatietim and made some new caching friends who we went around spending the afternoon with. Their aim was always to finish with this night cache but didn't think we would last that long. Well we did and so joined on this night cache. With some uncertainty in the beginning and which way was the best approaches after WP1 we decided best to follow the cache instructions and we eventually made the final position. With log signed and little feeling left in hand it was time to say goodbye and head home. TFTC

I arrived here at 8.30pm to meet up with the illustrious Mister Doctor for my fourth night cache - as I've been bitten by the bug.
Still feeling rather full from an Easter family dinner, I arrived and headed towards the torch light, and we both began looking for the first reflector. We were indeed off to a bad start, but eventually spotted it. Time to project the next waypoint, and I was shown a much more efficient way than what I was using - GCTools (do yourself a favour, people, and download it from the app store!).
The next reflector took a little while to reveal itself, until Mister Doctor spotted it, then we split up looking for the following one. A number pinned to a tree was found, but it proved to be a red herring. It was also at this time I'd noticed an unpleasant smell - seems I'd trod in dog poo - one of the hazards of night caching...
The description warned about this reflector being hard to find, so I was very surprised to spot it almost straight away when we resumed searching!
Off to GZ and this took quite some doing. We both widened our search and had trouble locating something relating to the clue, but soon enough it was music to my ears when MD said "found it"!
Thanks Splad for the well put together night cache!

Teamed up with jimbo_80 to conquer this one!

It was a great night for it, warm with clear skies, and a massive full moon which actually got in the way initially.

We struggled to find the first reflector. But it was there, just hidden from our initial vantage point. Collected SSS, projected the next WP and moved on.

After a brief hunt the next reflector was found and then we hunted up and down for the final coordinates. I found a plastic tag at head height with some possible numbers, but this put the final in someone’s back yard! Jimbo_80 discovered the real tree and with EEE recorded we were off to GZ.

This was quite a hunt!! However, the coordinates were good and we both kept returning to the same place which ultimately revealed a patch of beautiful sistema blue!

My first successful night cache, and my first team effort. Great to meet you jimbo_80!

TFTC Splad - we’ll have to check out the rest of your night caches too!

This has been a long time coming. Over a couple of visits I had collected the required information to the GZ and have sat on them for quite a while.

Today we had spent the morning celebrating Mrs frilk's birthday and I believe that I may have had an extra slice of cake so, in the late afternoon, I decided that I would head over to Ruffey Park and try to finally complete this cache.

I made my way to the calculated GZ and had quite a search of the area and then expanded the search area considerably...no luck. After 20 minutes I decided that I would start the cache all over again.

I had noted where the first reflector was so made my way there however I could not find the SSS details and had to rely on my original notes. I then did what was necessary to find the EEE details and soon verified that I had correctly noted them previously.

I went back to where I had been at the start...this time luck was on my side and I very soon discovered the cache. All is well with it. I added my name to the log and replaced it. I'm glad to have this replace with a smiley. TFTC.

#1103 - 4.10pm
Wow! I actually found it!!

A few months back I got the info from the impressively constructed waypoints. Spladem seriously makes reflectors to stand the test of time!
It was a cold night and Mrs Welder and 1Dgirl were waiting in the car for me, so I decided to postpone visiting GZ until the next day.
Thus it was in daylight that I searched for this cache. I looked everywhere for nearly an hour but there was no joy to be had that day.
I went back and had another look a few weeks later, and still it was no good.
I was adamant that it had been muggled...
But today the sun was shining warmly, and I had nowhere in particular to go for my cache of the day. I scrolled through various lists of unfinished caches and rediscovered this one. So I thought I'd give it another go...
I got to GZ and it was just as I remembered, only the grass was noticeably higher. Not exactly inspiring, lol! I searched for another half an hour and as I followed the GPS on the merry dance it likes to have here, I came across something that just might be the feature I'd been looking for. I checked it out with some difficulty but lo and behold... there was the cache!!!!
It does exist!!
With a contented sense of closure, I signed the perfectly dry log. I left a new seal bag and cleared out the unlove before putting the cache back.
Thanks so much, Spladem. This one had been driving me crazy! It's an excellent night cache built on good ideas and executed with great construction - it just needed a cache to find... and I can now declare that the cache is there, ready and waiting.

Loved this little outing. The gathering of details from the waypoints was fun and after a bit of effort had my coordinates plugged in. Double checked, I thought that it would be fairly straight forward. Sadly, no.

GZ is quite overgrown with grass, thate are several big branches lying around the immediate area and there was no sign of a stump, not even remnants. It may need some maintenance, or maybe I needed to look harder. I did spend about an hour pulling fallen branches around, laing back grass and so forth, but to no avail.

Thanks for the outing Spladem.

There were a couple of people sitting on the bench right at the start of the cache, on their phones, which made it a little awkward to be shining my torch around (surely the park should be cleared out by 10:30pm?) Ended up walking past them and up the hill and around and down, looking for reflectors, but nothing found (but I knew I might not have been looking from the right angles). Did a couple of circuits, but nothing found. Finally left around 10:50pm, the people still sitting there.

I think I'll come back some other night, hopefully with:
1) new batteries in my torch
2) no moon (or at least, not so bright)
3) no park bench squatters

05-Sep-16
I had completed my first night cache just before attempting this one - so my confidence was high. WP1 and WP2 were found - thus acquiring the coordinates for GZ. To my disappointment and after much searching, I was unable to find the cache . But in the words of Arnie: I'll be back!

08-May-16
My first attempt at a night cache. We were a little unprepared. Definitely need better brighter torches. We did at least find the first reflector and retrieved the code. And next time we will take our phones out of the cases so the magnets don't mess up the compass. Lessons learnt

This is definitely the right time of year for nightcaches. You can casually dash one off by 6:00pm if you want. Almost. The first reflector made its presence known in a jiffy and after the projection it wasn't too long before the second half of the coordinates was sorted. Although I think I actually saw the tag itself rather than the reflector, oddly enough. Found myself circling the cache for a little while before recognising the associated camouflage for what it was. Nicely done. Thanks Spladem! I should really have a look at your other night caches now.

I have found lots of caches at night after my table tennis competitions but this was only my second legitimate night cache. I was with n0w0rries, leafotwind and also kmace, who had already found this night cache but tried not to give us any hints.

I was very happy that I finally had an opportunity to use my brand new Dolphin torch. [^] We took a seat at the given co-ords and soon spotted the reflector. We wandered over to it, noticed the dog tag but it was in a very bushy location so we let n0w0rries do the honours as he was more agile than leafotwind and I. Red Face He managed to read the dog tag with the SSS numbers and we were on our way.

I used the "Sight 'N Go" in my GPSr to project the 125 m East. This reflector and dog tag were even easier to spot so we quickly had EEE. We headed off to GZ where we searched for quite a while without success before noticing a familiar hiding MO. We retrieved the cache and each of us signed the log at 2:40 am. TNLN.

Thanks Spladem for the awesome night cache, which was lots of fun doing it in the company of other like-minded cachers. Cool

Found with leafotwind, Ladioactive and kmace.
Ladioactive's second night cache (If you count Carl's Leap Day Event this morning).
All in good order.
Thanks for the cache Spladem.

Found in the company of n0w0rries, kmace and ladioactive. Lovely to have met kmace and ladioactive for the first time. This was my first night cache and illustrated why I need to break out my Fenix E25 as a regular store bought torch just doesn't cut it.
Took kangadrew72's pathtag, another to add to the collection.

Yep, Another one. I am so sorry. McLookers put a call out and I was one of those that attended. Thanks so much and sincere apologies.

Our second night cache for the evening in the company of McLookers et al. It was a beautiful clear night for a walk through the park. Thanks for setting this one up .

18-Feb-16
Out tonight for a night cache run with some caching buddies and whilst we did 4 caches in total, this was the only one I hadn't done and wasn't CO so it's the only smiley for the night.

The initial sitting place showed us the way after several reflective possums tried to lure us away from the prize. With WP1 under the belt, we projected and headed off east only to come across a couple of kanoodling muggles on the grassy knoll.

Once we realised what was going on, we averted both our torches and eyes and continues to our next destination.

A highly reflective and highly placed marker gave us the last piece of information we needed, and we headed to the final resting place whereupon we located the prize we all sought.

Log signed, bling loaded and TB dropped.

Thanks ladies (and Benjoda) for he evening stroll and the fun. Thanks Spladem for the Cache.

18-Feb-16
A nice group formed for this night cache. We spotted the first point and needed to clamber towards it to get the info required. Projection was performed and while making our way to the point, we accidentally shone the torch on a couple having a good time. Moving quickly onwards, we found our next point and the information we required. At GZ, Glanville Girls made the find. Thanks Spladem, we really enjoyed this night cache and it was a beautiful evening for a walk.

18-Feb-16
This was the third stop of the evening for our intrepid band of adventurers. As I was traveling solo I followed kangadrew72 to our start point and we joined the others there. This multi was a little more complex than our earlier one. Many thanks to kangadrew72 for explaining how to project a way point, I just hope I remember how to do it next time I need to. We even managed to disturb a couple taking advantage of the balmy evening to get to know each other quite well. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.

03-Dec-15
After recently chatting to a few fellow cachers about tackling this cache, tonight seemed a perfect opportunity to try it as the weather was fine, which was nice and it was dark, which was helpful so we set off and after Moose spotted the first reflector it was then a case of a lovely stroll on to the next reflector and we soon had our final gz worked out and it was just a case of a little poking around and the cache was soon in hand. Thanks Spladem for the cache and the walk around the area.

03-Dec-15
Its been a while since we've done a proper night cache, and a Spladem one at that. So when we heard Happy pants was keen to make this one a smilie, out we headed. We cached around and about until it got dark, and then headed to GZ. The Christmas lights ablaze across the road nearly lit up the night sky, but thankfully we could still see the reflector thanks to some keen eyes by Happy pants. Another set of keen eyes from the Moose at WP2 (maybe too keen coz we missed the second reflector and found the third straight away) and Happy pants had the eastings quickly. After a quick run from a beehive the numbers were punched in. GZ coords were pretty good, but we shouldn't have checked the hint, its no longer applicable, the cache is now under some wood that might have once been a stump. Thanks for another night cache, Spladem, and the chance to get to know this park from a different direction.

Out for a arvo/night of caching with Moosetash and Happy pants. With this being only my third nightcache I was happy to be out with so much experience in the above guys.
After some sitting and playing spot the reflector, we soon spotted the clue and where on our way. Funny moment at Wp 2, when standing in the dark I could hear a buzzing sound from the darkness just next to me. Asking happy pants to shine his light so I could see what was making the noise, yep a huge beehive right next to my head. I didn't tell the others how allergic I am to them.
Would have been a quick trip to the local hospital if stung.
Great night of laughter and caching thanks heaps for the cache.

Came with jelleeaa and waited until sundown. Once dark enough, searched with a strong torch light in every possible direction. Couldn't spot it Sad

A few visits were required, but inch by inch we found it. But had to do the final step in daylight. Log is quite wet, but otherwise okay. TFTH

Tftc, as previous finder indicated not much of a stump, however, coordination good.

Had to spread this adventure over two visits, but we eventually prevailed.
In gathering the second piece of information we initially set off in the wrong direction after finding another group of numbers. Realising our mistake we returned and found the correct set immediately, then it was off to GZ. Tftc.

A lovely warm night to be out walking around. So i picked up a mate and decided to try out this night cache. Each location was straight forward enough. I even wrote down the numbers write. But i entered them the wrong way around into my gps. Which took us a bit longer to find the right spots.

Eventually we ended up at GZ and searched around for quite awhile. The cache was finally uncovered and found still in great condition. Cheers mate for the fun hide.

23-Aug-15
Looked for two hours clever cache. Completed all the WP's up until GZ. Stash was not found and as the hint suggested I was stumped! Fun cache but a bit disappointed in how long it took with in accurate difficulty and terrain. TFTH will return!

25-Jul-15
Found with sharkiefan and Ahomburg.
We all rocked up to this one after some success at the last night cache, and wandered to the starting co-ords with our usual array of firepower.
The first reflector was a bit hard for us to find initially, despite Adriaan alluding to it still being there without actually telling us where it was.......but persevere we did and finally spotted him blinking back at us. Then, after negotiating the fence like obstacles between us and the info, we got the required info, projected the WP, and wandered off into the night chatting away merrily.
At the next WP, our direction was sorted, and thanks to our impressive retina searing searchlights, we found the next reflector and then the info for GZ.
At GZ, the slippery slope was negotiated, and the cache was found, despite its host going off somewhere else. With paperwork signed, we all strolled back to the cars with the sounds of a car alarm going off in the distance.........hope it isn't ours.......

Thanks Spladem for another great night cache.

Cheers

Found with Ahomburg and skullracing.
Adriaan had done this one so it was just as back up that he came along. Skullracing made short work of it with their beefy torch and the find was made. Not much of a stump left but the coords are good. Tftc

Tonight hergab69 joined 88andy88 and I for our Friday night shenanigans.
Started off ok, but didn't quite read the instructions right. Then a couple of mistakes lead us to scratching our heads for a while. Eventually re-read the description and "a-hah!" Back on track. Nice walk on this chilly Friday night. Cheers! Smile

Great night cache. Soggy feet in winter. Fun night with OzHockeyChick and Andy88

19-Jun-15
Out doing some nightcaches with OzHockeyChick and hergab69 and this one was a ripper.....We re-read the description a couple of times to get this right but as the description is written is what the cache is and how it is found. Enjoyed the brisk walk in the cold with a couple of the supercharged drinks to boost some mental warmth we made our way to the zone and after a short hunt we made the find , signed the log and replaced as it was.

This evening 4evatinks and I were out for our weekly caching run around Ruffey's Park. This was my first find for the night. I had completed a number of Spladem's night caches previously and had this on to-do list for quite awhile. Finding this nightcache also went to help qualify for a nightcache challenge I have been working to complete for awhile now.

We parked next to GZ and upon arrival we shone our torches around but took us awhile to spot the reflector. We kept searching the treetops but quite unexpectedly found the reflector low. As we approached the reflector, recent upgrades to the waking path meant that we needed to cross over and under to get to the dogtag with coordinates. Not a problem for us now but may cause some issues in the future.

After noting and entering the numbers, we proceeded to enter projections data into GPSr devices. It was the first time 4evatinks had done a projection but she did a super job of figuring it out quickly. With both our phones pointing us in the same direction we proceeded. We chose to go the northerly path to next WP. Once there, we walked around and shone our torches in a general SW direction. Again this proved to be a challenge but 4evatinks hawk eyes spotted the reflector. In the end, like previous log have said, we missed the second reflector and found the dogtag with final numbers needed.

After entering in our final GZ, we enjoyed a stroll through the dark park. By now my shoes were wet and the chill in the air was seeping through my clothes. After a quick search, we found our prize! A very satisfying hunt and find and really appreciated the work gone into creating this nightcache. SL, visited a TB & replaced. Very nice work Spladem. Very much appreciated. Favourite point from me.

Great to be out tonightbwith robinyang. After reading through the description and shining our torches around we were beginning to worry that we couldnt find reflector 1. Suddenly we spotted it and headed over and under the walkway rail to get to the dogtag. did my fisrt projection and headed to new wp.

We couldn't find reflector 2 but found the third one and calculated final gz. We headed off again and in not too long had cache in hand and sl.

Upon heading back to car we passed some muggles and some really big greyhounds.

Tftc spladem. Really enjoyable.

What a fantastic cache to finally complete! Thanks to the assistance of Pavolau and Team Schwank on attempt number 6 I completed this! It turns out earlier attempts had been close but I mis judged my position in the course. After re-looking, we found the first clue. Calling them dog tags was slightly misleading. Found wp2 with relative ease, and then Pavolau found the last one. Great fun, especially at 2am!

Out with kmace and we both wanted to do this night cache. I'd attempted WP1 with my nephew a month ago and then had got totally off track with the projections, and we'd abandoned our search. Luckily this time I was with kmace who has an excellent sense of direction but a very weak torch. We fiddled with projections and I did about ten before kmace sent us off in the right direction. One there, I worked out that two of my projections were actually close to where we were, so we walked closer in the direction and had a search with kmace's teeny torch (I shouldn't actually give her too much grief about the torch as I hadn't got one with me at all!). I spotted a tree that looked like one Spladem would like to climb and not long after kmace found the second WP. We headed off and found GZ without too much trouble at all. Very cool cache, and I'm glad to have finally completed it. I hate having half completed caches. Many thanks to kmace too for her directional skills, without whom I would have been foiled again.

Found this one tonight with Vanessa&Aodh. This one caused us a lot of problems -V&A had previously found wp1 which was good as my torch wasn't strong enough to locate it. I went down and collected the clue. We then had issues with the projection of the way point going into the gps so I worked out an approximate location from the map software. Off we headed to our approximate location which was mostly correct. We then realised that finally we had wp2 in the gps a little way from where we were which allowed us to walk in the correct direction. We couldn't find the second reflector (not sure it is missing but we didn't find it) but managed to deduce and guess where the final was. I found the final dog tag and the reflector soon afterward. We put final coords in the gps and phone and thought limited gps signals would impact us but we managed to find the final though the clue is no loner relevant now. We signed the final with glad relief!

Thanks for the cache spladem.

Found with nanton34 after a swag of traditionals. Getting to WP1 was simple enough, however getting the first clue took waaaaaay longer than it should have for reasons I won't explain. WP2 also took some time but in reading the description and a couple of recent logs we eventually travelled to a place where we could spot what we were looking for. With nanton34 on fire he had spotted the second light not far away from where we were and I grabbed the second clue. Getting to the cache and finding it was easy one we had the clues. Container was slightly exposed and I grabbed the trackable. tftc

With this being the main target for the evening. We arrived not long after sunset. Not reading the description properly we had a few false starts before getting on the trail. I made another mistake after finding WP1 which slowed us down some more. before finally getting back on the trail. Struggling to find the reflector for WP2 we wandered around in the general direction described and eventually spotted the reflector. from there it was pretty straight forward getting the final co-ords and heading to GZ. Arrived to spot the cache uncovered and a little damp but nothing too bad. Another great night cache!!!! TFTC

Bored2249 and I headed out tonight to do this nearby night cache and collect up a couple of other nearby caches. From GZ we easily found the first waypoint. Through the wet grass we went and grabbed the first clue. We walked around to required distance but did not see any reflectors so we widened our search. Eventually we came upon the reflector for the second way point, the difficult to see one. We still hadn't found the guiding reflector though! We found it after a quick search near the second waypoint though - so all in good condition. With both clues in hand I plotted the location into the gps. Back to the start? Oh ok...off we went. Upon arriving we realised I'd hit the wrong button. Dammit! Put in the correct coords and off we went again. We trampled through loads of onion weed and now we stiiink but we got the cache! There was an incredibly sized slug guarding the cache from a nearby tree. See photo. Unfortunately the inside of the cache is drenched. See maintenance log. As this was our last 'to do' cache of the evening we circumnavigated the lake and headed back home. It was a comedy of errors tonight, but we had an excellent time. Night caches are awesome! Thanks for the cache! Oh and I dropped off a TB in a sealed bag. Hoping it will be ok in there.

Contents of cache are very wet. I first thought the cache had not been closed properly but it appears that is because it cannot be closed properly. One of the side clips seems broken. The bag with the logs was full of water which I emptied out. Somehow we could still sign the log, but I think it will need replacing ASAP. The bits of it that weren't all stuck together looked very full anyway. I had nothing to give the cache first aid with, sorry. But I dropped in a TB so at least if you go back to to maintenance you can discover/grab that Smile

found it with georocks101! but lost the pen along the way so we took a photo Smile really fun night search

Found with megwilson, we lost our pen in the hunt for the cache so we took a photo instead.
This was a Great cache, bit creepy walking through the park I'm the middle of the night though. The only problem we had was seeing the first reflector, but move around a bit from the bench and you'll have no problems.

I started on this a few nights back and with a PAF, as the fog was very heavy, I found the first tag okay. But then things went bad and my feet got very wet, very very wet. So I went back tonight with some knowledge of what was required - my previous projection was way out. I was looking for the reflector but then thought more about the type of tree he would place it one and I found a tag... Yipppeee. Off to the GZ and the cache was soon in hand. I also found a flying disk that someone had lost and valued enough to write their number on. So a call was made and it will be returned to the owner. Thanks Spladem for the cache. My 20th night cache. Oh. I picked up the car TB too.

Finally Found it with jamesbarden22 on our cache race against atsmug blake and Jodie and maddiotoole and krisbattyanyi
This was our fourth time returning to this cache.
This cache was the last stop on our race, although arriving first and already knowing SSS and the location of the projected WP due to insufficient darkness all other teams caught up, after atsmug spotted EEE his phone was flat, now being a foot race we made it to GZ first and signed the log, with each team getting a DNF on caches others had found we decided each team had to go and complete them and first team home won, through better choice of route and slight advantage team pa_i_ge and jamesbarden22 came out on top!!!!
All in all it was a good day, our second victory, and only a few scratches from some bushbashing from other caches Smile

Today was an organised geocachehuntday#3, there were 3 teams doing 17 caches, lots of driving and stopping, finishing at Ruffey park doing the night cache. So all teams ended here within ten minutes of each other, with it still not quite dark, we knew from a teams previous attempt where the first waypoint was, and got the numbers required. Next was calculating the projection which the Iphone App does not do, so a 3rd party app was required. We were all then at the next waypoint, still not dark enough to get any reflections, so it was an 8 strong search party in the direction specified, and reflector was spotted, then it was another search party. I happened to spot the dog tag, and as this was a race, team vs team, I kept it to myself, but then as I was typing in the coordinates in my phone, the battery ran out...! So I had to fess up the location of the second dog tag, so other teams with charged phones could find the cache. A brief search and cache was in hand, with all signatures on it, we'll call it a tie. This was a great multi, probably be much easier at night with a strong torch. TFTC Smile

The reflectors worked a treat even just on last light
The 8 year old son ended up finding the cache ok ( maybe with a little directional assistance )
SL TF a great cache

As grass and trees grow the horizon can alter. That is what makes it so difficult. The light as bright as a thousand suns would not be good enough as obstacles block the way.
It is the old problem of Burke and Wills initials now being 20 ft off the ground as the tree continued to grow. One is a council maintenance issue and another is that pines grow so fast. Sure it can be found but only by the super sleuths.

Further to the grief is how the senses change as daylight falls.
Spiders, moths and crickets come out to play.

What is a simple layout in daylight just becomes a series of obstacles at night.

That is the enjoyment.

This is a good end result. Thanks spladem. I can tell you more at the awards this month.

Geodaughter and I headed out for this night cache tonight with another solved puzzle pickup on the way.
Parked near the start point and it still wasn't quite dark yet but shone the mega 'heater' torch around while wandering around and geodaughter spotted the 1st reflector. A short walk and a minute or so later we had our first clue.
After doing a few calculations while walking in the rough direction I needed for WP2 we arrived there not long after to have muggles sitting right where we needed to be.
We weren't in a hurry so I played around with my phone for a few minutes and then they disappeared. So we shone the torch around again and found nothing. We walked in the direction indicated and found the thing stopping you from getting too close.
After a bit more torch shining from this next location, hawk eye geodaughter again spotted the next reflector and the second and final clue for GZ was found a few seconds later.
Off we walked not too far away to GZ and found the hide area a bit destroyed (you will see what I mean when you get there) and the cache was luckily still there on the ground in full view. The log was still dry so we signed it as the first person in about a year or so to do so and put it back to match the hint as best as possible with a little standard cache camouflage over it.
Thanks for the cache, the hunt and the fun.
