WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 129 - Katherine Day 2. The temperature again rose quickly in the morning. I am still recovering, but I decided a short trip for fuel and a cache would be ok. I was soon back inside and resting again. It was a bit further than expected, but the cache was found at an old memorial that might have been harder access when the railway line went past here. Today a very quick find and not much sign reading as it is completely bleached. Thanks for the cache territoryenrights48981.1 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 100 Finds Achievement A#64**Albida**
Kiwinic and myself are on a bit of a half trip around oz. Caching as we go! Amazing theyre buried here! TFTC
I see dead people.Freddo and e.gregory1 were heading up the middle of Australia following Stuart's well trodden route. We were travelling in air conditoned comfort and style. No stale food. No camels to carry water. We were leaving the cold winter for the northern season.Today was the day to find this cache. Today is the tenth day of Augustus Caesar's Month in the wonderful year of twenty twenty four. We found your cache container and added some inky stuff to the paper sheet or note pad you have supplied for a log book or scroll. The cache container and log book or scroll were in good condition. It was so hot. No wind today. With the log signed and the cache replaced it was time to leave. Onwards to the next cache. Woot, that is not to far.I would like to show my respect and acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land, and their continuing connection to it. I wish to pay my respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past, present and emerging.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We do apologise for the generic logs. Thanks to all the cache owner for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke fr den Cache. Gracias por el cach. Had to check twice before uncovering the cache. Thanks for highlighting this cemetery.SL TFTC
A caching trip from Canberra, ACT to Cape York, Qld and then around the gulf to East Arnhem Land, NT.Now with a detour to Thursday Island, Mabuiag Island, Mornington Island and finally along the Savannah Way through Hells Gate, then Nhulunbuy and Wadeye.TFTC. A small sad little cemetery. Quick stop on way north.
Checked them all then, checked again. Just took a little more wriggle and had it!
On our travels we found ourselves back in Kathrine and took the opportunity to grab a few more caches, of course it was the last place I looked but soon had the log in hand, thanks for placing this cache
Travelling with iluvtrekking and after spending twelve days in Darwin are now caching Katherine and surrounds. Pity there no info on the board visible. Thanks for the hide.
Travelling with richlink on a trip from Perth to Darwin and returning through the centre to SA and home again. Today, we are exploring Katherine and picking up some caches as we go. Thanks for the cache.
This was so hard to recognise as a grave, but an interesting place. OCW irondale. The cache was found immediately. Unfortunately the info sign at GZ is completely bleached. Thanks for writing info in the cache description. TFTC
Have visited katherine for work on numerous times and never knew these graves were here. TFTC!! Number 100!!
Wow if it wasnt for this cache we wouldnt have realized the graves were here. We had been out to Katherine Gorge in the morning and after a helicopter flight and a good hike we decided a loop of Katherine to explore and some park and grab type caches were on the cards. We didnt mind a bit of a walk but we were pretty buggered and the humidity is a shock for these weary South Australians. We always find it interesting to read the headstones of our early settlers as their lives were so different and darn tough compared to ours. Thety seem to be made of much sturdier stuff than us.
Thanks territoryenrights for the cache.

Lovely to visit this historic site. We have a few days here in Catherine and really enjoying exploring as much as possible.

A quick find and onto the next. Log is good, but the plastic bag is tattered and could do with replacement. TFTC territoryenrights.
Found whilst caching around Katherine. Gps had me at a sign but searched another area and located. TFTC
Catching up on some late logs, now that I have time, while travelling.
We are on the road travelling up through central Australian and down the coast of WA. I hope to grab a few caches along the way.
This was a quick find once at GZ.
Thanks territoryenrights for placing this cache and doing the maintenance, so we can enjoy finding it.

Travelling again with ilook4geo and heading north to pick up some of the caches around the Katherine region. This was one we found after a quick search, the log was signed and all was replaced as found. Thanks go to territoryenrights for placing this cache.
Hunting along with goingplaces2 and picking up caches they have not done before. Enjoyed each discovery and adding names to each log where possible. TFTC.
After attending the mega in Townsville we are now heading for Darwin. First a couple of nights in Katherine at the Riverview cp. This was one of the caches we targeted and found. Thanks for arranging the hide.
My second trip up here in three weeks, but only a night in Katherine before heading west. With a 7am departure, I made time for a quick pre-drive grab and this one was nice and close to the digs. [^]
I took the long way around as it turned out and after recent rain, the hire car got a chunk of mud on the tires and up the sides. Ah well... At GZ, I pulled the cache from the first place I looked and quickly added my name to the log.
Interesting that I lived in Kathering for 3.5 years in the late 90's (Yes, the family endured the 98 floods during that time) and never knew this site existed. That's why I love this game, it's always slipping in the surprise locations.
Thanks for the cache territoryenrights.

Spending a few days in NT(not nearly enough) soaking up the sun. TFTC territoryenrights
After a relaxing morning on a gorge tour, we decided to get some smileys on the way home
It's always great to find a cache that details a little of the history of our country towns and it's pioneers .
We left this as our last cache to find before we leave Katherine . It became our 15,000 th find

Katherine seems to have a few caches at grave sites and I love cemetery caches. This one was found quickly and easily. Someone has had a rum party by these grave sites by the look of the empty bottles here.
Travelling and caching with our friends 2beez, 2As and petebev.
A nice day out picking up a few more caches.
A quick find. Thanks for highlighting this history.

The last cacher must of bashed the cap back on rather firmly as it took quite a bit of effort to get it off. TFTC
Very interesting find here.
I would have driven past here and not known a thing had it not been for this cache.
RIP.
Visited 3 TB.

An interesting spot with a bit of history involved.

Quick find while spending a few days in Katherine before heading down the west coast.TFTC
In Katherine on an unusually cool day... just warm enough for a dip in the hot springs. The town was looking fresh and green considering it was the dry season. Having visited many times this little cemetery was a new addition to our knowledge of Katherine. Fascinating. Left a few pathtags.
In Katherine for a few days so out finding a few more caches. Thankfully a nice mowed path to this one. TFTC
What I love about caching is when it takes me to places and teaches me things I would never find otherwise. This is a perfect example. Thank you for placing this cache at such a nice little piece of history.
Interesting tiny little cemetery that is tucked away here along the highway. Would not know its there unless you have a reason to go and look, but there is a sign explaining the area. TFTC
We had pulled over to try and google some fishing spots, so while he was doing that, I looked up some caches, this one looked like something we would be interested in, turns out it was! Another spot off the grid that should really be sign posted. TFTC.
A quiet day in Katherine as we prepare to start travelling south east on our way to visit the grandkids in Cairns then Weipa. It has been a long trip since the Red Centre Experience over Easter as we have visited the west coast , traversed the Gibb River Road and I squeezed in 2 week trip to Cambodia and Vietnam.
A really relaxed day with 5 quick easy finds. Thanks to all the COs for placing these caches for us to find. All logs were signed, mostly as SG as I so often do in small caches to save space.

Found at 12:13:00 PM. Heading North to escape the cold weather. Great to find caravan accessible caches along the way.
Thanks territoryenrights.
Thanks territoryenrights.
We decided to stay the night in Katherine, mainly to do the Cutta Cutta caves tour and then see how many other local caches we could locate whilst exploring the area.
We had a little bit of trouble trying to find the way in here without having to push our way through the spear grass but that was sorted out in the end and we arrived at this really interesting area. Reading the sign the record keeping of the day was a little less accurate than today's standards. There is no way known that we would have identified this as a cemetery unless we had been told and definitely one of the smaller ones we have visited. The well hidden cache was a nice easy find in a logical spot for a geocachers and our name has now been added to the log.
Thanks territoryenrights for showing us this fantastic location, a favourite point from us.

Still travelling NT after the Red Centre Experience but now moving towards Birdsville in QLD for the Big Red Bash.
Staying a few days in Katherine to attempt 'lots' of the local caches we hope.
Nice weather although warming up a bit again.
