Spending the winter woofing, tramping and exploring the west coast caching along the way ..of course..
Back in greymouth for a while working at the Noah's ark backpackers...so a good base to tick off a few more..
Set myself a mission to hit 8000 finds by the end of the year...that's an average of 6 a day ..
Search around all 4 railway irons and amongst the rubbish but came up empty handed..

Given it was found today I though it would be an easy find but after about 20 mins I gave up. So much rubbish in this area, it's sad to see.
Possibly moved due to weather? Couldn’t find! Spent about 15 mins rummaging, no luck
Found with StreetWalkerNZ on our last day of our Queens Birthday weekend in Greymouth. This morning was not as chilly as yesterday, so after an early morning's walk up Kings track, we walked to the waterfall at Coal Creek in Runanga, then returned to Greymouth for a few more caches and lunch.
We were surprised that we hadn't looked for this cache previously, maybe we didn't know where to access the walk way. Overshot GZ initially and had to back track. Cache was laying on the ground, amongst rubbish so after doing the paperwork, we replaced by one of the hint objects where it should be safer. TFTC.

#18220. We overshot GZ, and after a quick backtrack I spotted the cache lying in the open. After doing the paperwork, I placed it in a bit of a hollow next to a hint object. TFTC.
A surprising little walkway but unfortunately there was a lot of litter at GZ and log book wet.

22179 Traveling through New Zealand to see nice people and places. Also to find some geocaches.
Today we went from Farnz Jozef Glacier to Greymouth and we had all day, so we made many stops. Allong the road we found many caches, but we also visited Ross, Hokitika and Shanty town. There caches brought us to special remarkable places.
After checkin, Greymouth around the hotel was visited.
Most caches were found quite quickly. Realy rough here.
Moneydork TFTC and the fun it brought us. Theo

One week of the school holidays are already gone and we have a few days off looking after grandson. He's not adverse to caching but the weather wasn't that great and a new game for the Xbox had priority. We read the previous logs so came prepared with some paper and a ziplock bag. The GPS didn't cooperate but the hint was good. We didn't realise that further along the track is another cache and we would walk past here later once more. Thank you Moneydork
For too long there have been 'odds and sods' of unfound icons on my Greymouth area map so today we set out to rectify a few of them.
We spent a few minutes looking round the 'rubbish dump' before Hazedarus found the cache where I had approached earlier but aborted when the distance on my GPS started climbing rapidly. It showed 17m at GZ.
Having read the previous logs we grabbed a wee snaplock and tore a couple of pages from a small notebook to leave as a replacement log.
Thank you Moneydork.

Found after a bit of a search, log has dried out enough to sign, sorry no dry replacement with us. Continuing on with the walk. TFTC
Too wet for signing And after earlier photo from another in greymouth I didn't take one...
Took awhile to find. Need to look past the first railway iron thing ! Needs attention book very soggy!
Found after quite a search at least 30ft off GpS reading. Just a soggy mess inside. Needs attention. TFTC and greetings from the UK
Found after a few min. Quite disappointed with the amount of rubbish intentionally dumped here. Rather disgusting.
Still a lot of rubbish in the area. Cache was found pretty quickly in an obvious place near the shorter hint item. Coordinates had me 33m away. TFTC
Tis quite sad to see what the Locals do to their lovely Walkways..Took a wee while to track down but persistence paid off and Little Horrible's sharp eyes spotted the Hidey Hole.TFTH
Some might like it rough but some must like it dirty as well, an awful amount of rubbish has been dumped and spread around GZ. GK still managed to find the cache though. Thanks Moneydork for the cache
Injeanious and I travelled over to greymouth for Easter weekend. We had fun picking up lots of different caches, and had a few dnfs as well. We didn't enjoy this one so much with the rubbish and the sandflies so didn't stick around too long, would have liked to have the smilie though. Tftc!
We got to gz and began searching around. Three of us looked for about 15 minutes, but between the trash, mosquitoes, and the broad hint (quite a few rail irons and lots of places within 2 m of each) we decided to call it a day.
Took about 5 minutes to find. But a rubbish that needs to be cleaned up thought.
Second cache of the day, probably my least favourite in awhile just because of the area, so gross and filled with rubbish. Definitely not kid friendly. Appreciate the effort of leaving the cache though, thank you!
Finally found it! We had a look last time we were over. After a very exhaustive search we gave up. Also having a number of DNFs to it we did not hold out much hope. This time after looking at previous post, noticed it had been found yesterday or day before (depending on server time). Had another look and found within a few minutes. Tfth.
Found it. Haven't been around this park in years. Shame it's looking pretty rough, but bought back memories none the less. TFTC
Was so happy to find this one after all the DNF......I was going to near give up when I realised there was more than one railway track bit.
Ick, Once upon a time this walk was beautiful. Hate the scum bags who turned it into a dump. Literally after tiptoeing among the trash we just decided to stop before we caught tetanus. The rubbish was just depressing us and the dead rat topped it off.
Would be great to get a neighbourhood volunteer group to restore it back to healthy bush again.

What a lot of rubbish strewn all over right from where we parked to the cache. One of those ones where it is so obvious once you find the right spot. TFTC #5989
100% pure.. We first found something that looked like a cache, but it was more for some other pleasure. Not quite sure what that smoking stuff was, did not smell like cigarettes. Found cache eventually without too much trouble. TFTC
Went for a search for this the other day. Didn't find it but honestly the location is pretty poor and there is rubbish scattered about. Not really sure why someone would want to attract geocachers to this area to search around in the muck.
Hmm, been around here before I think. Looks like the tent etc have been here a long time. I can think of better places to set up camp! Cheers

I had been wanting to come over caching to Greymouth for a while, since I had never yet been caching further than the West Coast CANZ cache!!
Spur of the moment, a trip was planned, and I decided to head off on Friday after work. However realised we had monthly after work drinks! Ah, stayed for that then, and then left.
Saturday ended up being a numbers day. My second top caching day in history, and I wasn't even aiming that high!!
This was one of the many caches I got therefore
Finally actually getting some caches in greymouth after touring around everywhere else first!!
When reading the title, wasn't sure as to whether it was refering to the quality of the bush, or what someone had obviously been doing there by what they had left behind... stopped thinking at that point... haha.
Cache took a while to locate as I kept on discovering more of the hint!!
But finally finally I found it, almost as I was about to leave.

it was rough, people who are dumping rubbish there should be ashamed of themselves
searched around but it wasn't long before the cache was in our hands
thank you for the cache

Was a bit rough here and someone has used this place for getting rid of their rubbish.
Quite a few people out walking their dogs too.

Looks like someone left their rubbish behind . It must have been a job getting it all to that place.TFTC
We found the cache bag and geocaching instructions on the ground at GZ but there was no sign of a logbook or cache container.
Replaced the log and left a new container for the next visitor TFTC.

Container size will need to be changed to small as we left a black taped nurofen pot as a cache.
We're still here in NZ although our trips end is drawing closer. Day 19 and we headed from Greymouth to Akaroa via Rangiora.
Wow with all the rain in the last week, this bank surely was slippery. Looks like alot of rubbish has been washed down the bank nearby too, making it all the more difficult to search.
It didn't bother the birds that were chirping away merrily above us though.

Good search and great spot. Not too hard but a bit of the challenge for the kids.
Only about a mile from our hotel, loved the walk, hunt and find. TFTH. First one in Graymouth.

NZ12. The rain had made all the ground very sloppy and the GPS was all over the place. I eventually located the items in the clue and started looking. It was very well hidden and it took a bit of finding. Thanks.

Couldn't come to the south island without finding a Moneydork cache. After all, you've found all (or most) of ours! We walked right past GZ because of the satlock, but Mrs. Flipper spotted the item in the hint and it was a brief search after that. Thanks and glad we're here!!
A reasonably quick find after narrowing down which of the items in the hint to start looking at. TFTC
Park and slosh today, wee creek raging. And that ground water was very cold in jandels ! Maybe we should have done short walk option ! Thanks
Still looking. Muggles abound, so wondering if still there. Not giving up - will try again another day
First find of the day around 7-00am. A little search required but hint got me there. SL TFTC
