Suscoe was wandering the back roads today.
After a string of DNFs we thought we would pay a quick visit here.
Interesting local history but the cache is nowhere to be seen.
No sign of a regular type container.
Found a depression which seemed strangely familiar in shape, but not knowing the exact dimensions of the cache we can't be sure what has happened.
Perhaps the CO might check this out soon to see if Utopia is the only thing that has been lost here!!

Had a look on the way back home from Hamilton from the info and size of the cache it should have been an easy find But that was not the case today, still enjoyed the detour off the main road.
think this has gone. Whipper snipers have been on the job up the fence line. learnt there are two different Petschells lanes and never knew Days Lane existed. A very interesting piece of history too,
Had a look on a cold and blustery afternoon, but couldn't find it. Interesting history on the place.
Not sure what we did wrong but no luck for us. What an interesting place though. Looked up more information when we got home. Thanks.
The hint caused me some grief resulting in me having to be quite stern to get family cachers out of the car! Even when they did it was too much to expect them to get amongst the grass to retrieve the crown. Well done on a great cache and hide!!
Picking up some caches on our way to Melbourne for a basketball tournament. TFTC
(Sorry for the late log. We've been on route, moving house and without reliable internet for some time... catching up on logs now)
This cache is a very obvious find. In fact, we found this one 2 years ago as muggles and without opening it (we were a bit suspicious of it at the time), found out later from our Geocaching friend that it was a cache.
The story behind these ruins is facinating. A great spot to bring people. TFTC!

A hot, hot day, but thankfully no unwanted sightings today. Only the sight of a vision and dream lost in the annals of history. Thanks for bringing us here and the history lesson. I'm not really sure if this part of the country is my version of utopia.
Quite easy one - an evocative location, recording some early history of the pioneering - why did they leave?
Greetings from Cyprus, TFTC

Interesting history and ruins, thanks for bringing us here.
Swapped 2 rain ponchos as we forgot our coats for our trip to Adelaide. Left 2 kids sizable toys.

Interesting piece of history and still some remains clearly visible. Cache was easily found but took a while to retrieve. TFTC jugglingogre.
As we were driving from Grampians to Warnambool with Viipu we stopped every now on then on our way as we spotted interesting places and / or caches. This actually represented both. The history of the place is an interesting one. To be quite honest, I haven't read that much about the settlement of Australia and probably therefore am not that familiar with the part different utopian communities played in it. But now I at least know a little bit more about one of them.
Thanks for the cache and for showing us this historically interesting place!
Thanks for the cache and for showing us this historically interesting place!
We made a couple of stops while driving from Grampians to Tower Hill with Giliad to search geocaches that got our attention. This was a regular sized, didn't seem to require any bush-bashing and had something pretty interesting to show. I read the description aloud when we were approaching the site, and back home we also checked the related webpage. Fascinating stuff!
Thank you for showing us the place and for the cache! Greetings from Finland!

Loved the thought and history of this one. Wish we could have wandered through the ruins.

We wandered our way over from Bendigo for a couple of days camping at Mt Eccles National Park. It is an amazing place with lots of wildlife and hot showers. Then on to Port Fairy for a couple of days and an event at Tower Hill.
Everyone was too tired to do much this afternoon after completing the lava tunnel walk so we went for a drive instead. Great old buildings - what a shame they are deteriorating.

Found on a trip to Portland for a friends wedding. What an interesting place. I wonder what the commune would have been like in its hayday. Thanks for bringing me to this interesting location Jugglingogre.
Found the cache today at 10.30am with beanie. If you could only go back in time to see how these communities lived in these harsh conditions Great Spot TNLN Signed the log.
Thanks jugglingogre for the cache.
Thanks jugglingogre for the cache.
Great geocache, big, clean and dry with lots of swaps, easy to find. tnln sl tftc
Found with Sorzach. It would have been a very bleak existence to live in a commune here. Thanks guys.
These ruins were pretty cool in more ways than one. Great to look at, and when the boys went in there they said it was much cooler there out of the sun. TFTC.
Well we would like to thank the person who planted this cache as myself and a budding photographer were on a mission to find abandoned houses/shacks/sheds etc etc
noticed the cache and had no idea what was going on, put 2 and 2 together and now we are keen to find more photography locations via geocaching
took nothing, left nothing (very new to this and will grow into an addiction from here on I'd say)

As Flap408 said this was a first for me months ago not knowing what it was all about. This time we worked out what the ammo box was for and have now started a new hobby I think
Cache found.
Swapped random purple stamp for smiley badge.
Interesting story behind those remains of buildings.
Thanks for cache.

Found at 3.15 today. A bit wary of the slithery muggles. A very very interesting piece of history that we would never have known about or visited. TFTC
Found at 2:01 PM GAFF1. Interesting that an ideal community was built here when there is no obvious water source nearby.
Thanks jugglingogre

Driving westward in convoy with team Pprass with the ultimate destination for the end of the week being the ‘Big Little Event at Nelson. Wow, we thought some people found Utopia around Bendigo in 1854. The folk here were much quicker off the mark.
TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt jugglingogre.

Never knew this was here! Kids did some swaps. A really interesting place and educational with the kids. A quick find with Stackers and GeneralSlug.
After a bit of cross country we finally found the place! Another one of those caches where I would say... "I wouldn't know this place was here if it wasn't for a cache" tftc!!! Lovely area! Great view!! Nothing like history lesson a day of caching found with Jesshayes
Took thong, left iPhone 4 cover

This was a nice place to go. Would be interesting to see old photos of this place when it was functioning. Frog Brother Two retrieved cache. Well hidden!!!!
Put in magnetic thong and eraser clock and frog. Took a small gold ring and bottle opener. Frog Brother Two was very happy with the bottle opener!
Nice one!! TFTC jugglingogre.

Beautiful ruins. We loved this one so much both geopartner and I forgot to pick up our geocontainer with all our goodies in it. Realised at the next cache and had to go back! TFTC!
Too wet for snakes as we had to walk last 200m as afraid of getting bogged. Would have been great in it's day. TFTC
What a beautiful spot. Its interesting to think of the people sitting in front of those little fire places. TNLNSL TFTC
After following the GPS, who clearly doesn't know how rough the roads are and choses the worst, found. Nice area. Would have been nice to see these huts in original condition. Love bluestone ruins. TFTC. TNLN SL
thanks to jugglingogre for bringing me to the interesting piece of history. Found on a drizzly morning. Good to see an ammo can. Glad i'm not here in summer as I wouldn't want to see a four foot tiger.
Cheers.
Cheers.
Found by Mary & David at 0925. We love learning something new of the history of an area, and this place has a fascinating history. The ruins speak of lost dreams, disappointments and unrealized hopes. Views to the Grampians gave a hazy hint of their magnificence. Our thanks to jugglingogre.
# 110 - Mr F grew up in Penshurst, Mrs F in Hamilton, so we absolutely loved this one - we would never have known it was here if it weren't for caching! Thanks for bringing us here jugglingogre, you get a favourite from us
Great bit of local history and the walls that remain are amazingly well made. Loved reading about Krummnow and his commune. Cache is in excellent condition. Thanks jugglingogre
The people who lived here must've been like my Dad. He's always losing things. TFTC Mr Ogre.
It's amazing that anyone tried to set up a community in this spot - there's absolutely nothing to indicate any trace of civilisation there now. TFTC.
Found on a day trip to Warrnambool. Nice easy find. Took torch. Left whistle & compass.
Found this one while out for a drive with new cachers leash&duddles. Was a nice easy one for their first find! TFTC!!!
Really liked the history associated with this cache, thanks jugglingogre.
Took Tom the TB, left a car.

Found with scouter 101 and one of his muggle mates.
A severe case of ophidiophobia mixed with long grass prevented me from getting to close to the ruins, which remind me of the ruins at Lake Condah Mission.
Thanks for the history lesson

Woohoo!! My 2nd 1st to find! Lovely area and a good day to look for the cache in this spot as it was cool and rainy - not snake weather! Took TB. Will find a new home for it soon. Also took scratchie and won $3 so thanks for that! Left money.
