Found by Mary & David at 1645. Left Whyalla this morning and cached our way north to Port Augusta for the night. Our last for the day. A thrill to be at GZ with The Ghan passing slowly underneath while waiting for a couple of goods trains to pass. Had to wait until a couple of young local muggles finished taking photos of the train and departed before we could search. Found it easily enough, especially after just doing #1. However, the container has lost its cap, so the log papers are in danger of falling out. Our thanks to mobdx.
found on a walk while at the new oval for Lions footy . found at last, found both old and new????. both have had it , logs unsignable. badly needs replacement. thanks obdx
Tftc! We found the original and the replacement cache and both require some maintenance (damp log, difficult to remove from container)
Found with geokid7 both original and replacement caches. Lived the originality of the cache. TFTC.
A clever little hide that is still there. It's unfortunate that someone has placed a second cache there as the original is weathered and hard to remove. A fav from me. TFTC
Found during a trip to Port Augusta in the breaks between games while spectating at a volleyball carnival over the weekend. Thanks for the cache mobdx!
Easy find and a good view of the tracks although sadly no trains while we were here. TFTC
After completing our 2nd trip around Australia, we are now heading towards Alice Springs.
Arrived in Port Augusta, dropped off the caravan, and headed out to cache the area.
After previously doing 'Shortcuts 1', this was an easy find. Cache hide could do with a little TLC.
Many thanks for the hunt today, mobdx.

Our Flinders Ranges adventure had come to an end..almost. Aussie M&M continued north to Alice Springs. Mogni and I returned to the hills, via Port Augusta and any caches we happened upon on the way.
Love these hides. Unfortunately this is missing half of it. The bit that makes the hide! Quick search on the ground underneath could not find the missing bit in the long grass. The log stuffed inside was wet. We left a small micro tube until the owner can take a much needed look. Thanks mobdx.

we located log and we added our name, think we also tried to replace but didn't have quite the right thing with us.
Staying a few days in Port Augusta we decided to head out and about town on the GeoBikes today.
Found the cache and have a photo of proof but there was only an empty hole where we assume a bison or nano belong. Someone has jammed a paper log in the hole but it is now in tatters. We added our name here.

I was headed up to Port Augusta for a kayak event but somehow afterwards I forgot to stop driving.
1,700kms later and after 83 smileys including 1 FTF were locus cache'd, 1 event attended and sadly 7 DNFs and a dead roo, I arrived back home with both the camera and the phone full of pictures of this amazing country in which we live .
Since I have a very similar hide in Adelaide's northern suburbs, this was a really quick find. Log is rather tatty due to how it is placed into the cache but while I had many larger containers for cache maintenance, I didn't have anything small enough for this type of hide. Sorry.

That was the first one we found on our walk through Port Augusta. It tooks us quite a while to find it but we enjoyed that there were not much people around.

WanderingAus wandered by on day 144 of our annual Climatic Refugee trip, deploying Munzees around Port Augusta, when I remembered seeing a cache pop up on TomTom as we drove over the bridge a few days ago.
I had already deployed one Munzee near the park, and was filling in the space near the shortcut, so I pulled out the gpsr, confirmed I was looking for a nano, and started the hunt. Coords were pretty good, as I closed in I spotted a familiar item from a find 2 years ago and made a fairly quick and easy GAFF 0 find.
My Groundspeak find No 2,952, TNLNSL.

This one took a minute or two, and it was not until I changed my aspect enough that something looked out of place and it was another clever hide.
a lovely trip deb and i came for a look around and grab a few caches loved the weather and even found a bit of mud
a nice quick find needs a bit of repair

Just about to keep walking and it clicked, paper a bit exposed but now container now vertical so it may be ok for a while, no trains either.
Found the paper in the clever nano but being exposed to the elements with the up coming damper season it may not last to long, liked the hide and no trains to spot whilst searching for this cache TFTC mobdx
This was our one big day of caching in the region.
We have visited many great spots, seaside locations, town high lights & back country roads.
This was one of the many caches we found.
Thanks mobdx

My field notes say this needs maintenance, but I can't recall why. I see earlier logs describe the cache as being missing its logbook.
Thanks mobdx.

On our way back to Adelaide, margladbeck and I could find this cache quickly. Thanks for taking us there. Greetings from Germany.
After spending the weekend 4WDing at the Argadells, it was time to head home sort of . The temperature was around 41C and there were strong winds but I had airconditioning and plenty of water so lets go caching. Spent the day caching Pt Augusta and Pt Pirie but had to give up once the thunderstorms hit.
Like shortcut 1 the body was there but the top and log wasnt. Had to explain to a muggle what geocaching was all about while I squeezed a log sheet into the body - will need looking at. TFTC.

Found the container with mustard keenas, but not the log or lid.
Had spoken to some locals earlier in the year and so are sure we located the correct container.
It needs maintenance to replace the missing part.

The key to finding this cache has clearly been lost. We didn't find the log book because the lid has become unscrewed but we did identify the hide.
Whilst holidaying in Port Augusta Mrs One-Eyed and I spent a windy afternoon looking for local caches.
This was in an area that is a great photo spot for the long rail freight trains, some exceeding 1km in length.
I looked everywhere for this little critter without success, it then started to rain said goodbye to this cache for another time.

Night time find, replaced log as it was damp and torn. May need some attention soon.
Great cache. Log still damp. Now in two pieces. Rewrote cache code on second piece. Well done. thtc.
Nice. Log wet as lid not on properly. Didn't sign at risk of destroying log. Tftc
Our 26th of 56 Caches found for our Pt Augusta and surrounding area cache run.
The second short cut for the day. We guessing what we might be looking for something similar to Shortcut 1 but still took us a bit to find it.

Am starting to see a few more of these around but it was still a good location to have one, tftc
Spotted what didn't quite belong to claim the find. Didn't see any trains but the semis were plentiful. Thanks for the nice hide
A nice quick find, but the log was a mess and I was unable to sign it. Love your work, mobdx. TFTC
Found on a caching run to Olympic Dam. It must have rained recently, as the log was just pulp, and therefore I could not sign the log. I have taken a photo of the lid as proof of find, and it will need replacing and leak proofing. I did not have the time or proper paper to replace the log. Sorry. A well hidden cache. A favoutite from me. TFTC.
Found as part of a two day Northern areas run with Team Waldron.

After settling down at Port Augusta caravan park, we went out to hunt a few caches around the town...quick find by Ms Bushies2, luckily he has very sharp eyes!... very clever hide! You get a favourite point from us There is someone who signed the logbook, using large letters to fill a whole strip of the logbook, we think maybe from iPhone because that person hasn't logged the find on GC website. Thanks mobdx.
Last time I looked here I couldn't find it. With a bit of a hint from #1 I still didn't see it at first but then it was there.

I am usually not a big fan of a nano cache but you have to love these.

Rain, Wind and Muggles a terrific combination to prevent one from a days caching. Well this one had me stumped for ages and as I was about to depart it cottones on to the container as similar to one already seen today. WHEW lucky I did not give up. Had a train pass while I was there so that was exciting.
Mags2 and Bowz2 spent the day trying to catch up on caches we still needed to find around town. AND this had been on the to do list for a while now
Unfortunately the pesky satellites took us on a wild goose chase off target initially until it was spotted.
Mags2 got a lesson about railway tracks while we waited for some people to past. Amazing what you can talk about when you are trying to look relaxed and looking at tracks on purpose?
Nice hide, I am starting to learn to expect a challenge when looking for Mobdx caches!
Love ya work.

We found it a BIT difficult to get open and found the log full once we signed it (needs replacement) all the while avoiding a large number of muggle foot traffic.
Nice hide certainly up to the high standard expected of a Mobdx cache.

#2060 Found on our Eyre Escape trip with DazzPete. Had spent most of the morning restocking and checking out the local wares. This our 2nd find of the day and we were walking to a few nearby caches. GeoD spotted something and GeoP saw the cache and directed Dad to the cache. A nicely crafted container [^]. Our thanks to mobdx for the cache
Eyre Escape 2011 continues with a lay day to restock supplies. Lunch was had and we needed to find some caches to work it off.

We'd searched all the likely places, and had given up on this one. As we turned to walk back to the car, I spotted something odd, and wondered why it was there. The answer, of course, was to conceal the cache. Nicely done!
Mrs J commented on one rail track being lower than the other. I told her the story about the triple deck car carriers made at the nearby workshops, and how they wouldn't fit under the bridges here. No wonder AN don't exist any more!
Thanks mobdx.

The third time is a charm. Bright daylight revealed a cache I could not see last night.
We initially looked for this cache during the morning but without success - too many muggles made a good search impractical. We returned later in the day and after a few minutes, the cache was in hand. A great hide. TFTC mobdx
Found while in Port Augusta for a few days. shoulda got this one the day it was published but got lazy once beaten for the FTF. Oh well it's a smiley now. Another beauty DX.

I can't write what we said on finding this cache. About 1 month ago we placed 1 in the same cache container at home in Tassie and thought we had come up with a unique idea. Ours is a slightly different set up though. Anyway still a great cache and I guess I can say that great minds think alike. Thanks.
No muggles and a mercifully quick find had me lulled into a false sense of security. As I was trying to wind up the log scroll a young bloke appeared from nowhere and gave me a “What are you up to?” look. Naturally I replied with a “Trying to roll up the *#@ log scroll of this clever nano” look. That seemed to satisfy him and once he’d gone I replaced the cache.
Thanks mobdx.

It took me a couple of minutes to cotton on, but then it was obvious where to look. That's one way to make sure your cache doesn't get pinched! Thanks mobdx for a subtle cache hide.

sorry about the late log but first real chance to get on to log visit found while staying at stirling north at sisters place awaiting sentencing on a court case which turned out great went out while others were still snoring at 6,00 am liked the hide after gps settled down TFTH
A few people were taking the short cut while I was there. I didn't know the game at this stage so took me a little longer than it should.
Having found the cache, I now knew the zone to be in. Fun stuff. Love your work. Clear skies.
