Adelaide and South Australia Trip Christmas 2021/2022. Day 16. The next phase of my journey is underway. I am in Loxton. I was with Fitzy_1965, MinnieK, Sol de Lune and Smitten Granny to attempt to finish the On You Bike where-i-go caches. We have managed to solve them all before we arrived. Day 6 in the River land. As we had accomplished the On your Bike caches, the others headed back east to stop at Mildura for the paddle steamer caches, but I am based in Adelaide at the moment, so could not go. I spent the day out and about collecting caches in the region before heading to Lake Bonny and then Berri, finishing the day in Katarapko National park.
This trip to Loxton had been a year coming as I had missed out last year due to other commitments. The group had increased and the target list of caches was much higher. It had been a group effort to deal with all the jigsaw puzzles and then the Reverse Where-i-gos were sorted out with the various online tools. The trip was looking at risk as the COVID situation stretched and stretched, but at least SA kept to its plans to open the borders and we all jumped through the hoops required to get across the border. The weather was looking extreme as the journey approached and it did not disappoint. The daytime temps were from 36-42 over the days of this exercise and it made for some hard work and lots of water usage.
I ventured into Luna reserve to visit the caches here. It looks like a great area, and I should stop by for an overnight stop one day. Lots of great caches.
Thanks for the cache crane2

quick find after GPS settled.
Out with the Mogni for a short trip out to the riverland, only 3 days. It was hot first 2 days where 40 degrees and the last day was 33 degrees. Since the rules just changed about covid 19 testing before and after entering vic to no testing, we changed our plans on the way up and decided to go via Murray Sunset National Park. The idea was to find as many caches as we could that haven't been found recently most hadn't been found in 3 months. On day 1 we replaced 10 out of the first 12 caches, all broken container and 1 log book replaced, and by the end of the day had a heaped medium bin liner bag full of broken containers, the hot mallee sun doesn't do the plastic containers any good. Day 2 saw us caching around Loch Luna and lake Bonney which is way easier driving around here in the dry then in the rain like my last visit here. Onlt 1/2 a medium bin liners back of replaced containers today, people must fix the closer to the highway caches more often. On day 3 it was back in to the mallee country and home via Pinnaroo. Getting those " out of the way caches ". Plenty of dirt roads where driven down and many, many back sandy tracks taken. It was good to explore all the country areas and stay off the highway.

Sir_spectre and I had a quick getaway to the Riverland. We were targetting the less found caches. We found an assortment of caches, and as regular for us manged to replace containers for several and put some fresh logbooks in others. It was a rather hot weather for a weekend of caching but the air conditioned car gave us some relief.
Thanks to crane2 from mogni

Caching has fallen by the wayside with everything that has been going on, work, lockdowns, blah, blah...so we needed to get away for a bit of R&R after lockdown so headed to Loch Luna for the weekend to refresh and cache!. This one has been replaced previously, but all the stuff that didnt fit in the new small container was just left next to it....OMG...I cannot believe the mentality of some people. Like...Yeah, it was nice of you to replace the container but really? Should you have left all the other PAPER sitting next to it to either get wet or blow around the rocks and the countryside...geez.....TFTC
I don’t have a 4wd so I decided to park on the other side of Chamber’s Creek and approach GZ by water. I launched my kayak and made my way over. An enjoyable kayak with lots of bird life to keep me entertained.
I couldn’t find a decent place to park the kayak around here so had to pick a place midway between Boulders and Moonscape.
I found two containers here. I signed what looked like the original logbook.
Thanks for the cache crane2.

Took a houseboat from Waikerie up to Chambers Creek, and then kayaked up Chambers today, picking up 6 caches whilst enjoying the peaceful surroundings. Some decent sized rocks, with Dad finding this one first, good to see an ammo box too. Log signed
It took me a while to find this one - crane2 came and helped me. I liked this spot.

Out for the afternoon around Loch Luna and Overland Corner grabbing caches along the way. [^]
I had not been to this part of the Riverland and spent a great afternoon driving, walking and thoroughly enjoying the whole experience. Interesting boulders.

Great fun exploring loch luna today. Saw two kangaroos on the tracks. Be careful at sunset and sunrise! TFTC
Spending the rest of the week up at Cobdogla, so what better way to relax than going geocaching!
Picked up a few of the caches that had been on my list for a while now, great to be able to mark them off.
Got an early start this morning, and found a total of 12 caches this morning, with this being find number 10 for the morning.
After my last attempt at caches in the Loch Luna Game Reserve, I came back prepared this time, and unlike last time, waited until the warmer weather so the tracks were nice and dry.
Thank you crane2 for a great cache!

Brodie, muggle partner and I were at Berri for an event yesterday at our 'home' for the weekend
Today was head for our real home day and I was supposed to be back in Adelaide by 6.30pm for a meeting but at 8pm, we were just leaving Barmera
There was just too many great spots to visit and caches to find
All up, 40 caches for the day (well, 40 after we had been to bed and slept ) and the last 2 were FTFs which required a small (about 20km) detour from our journey home.
Unless mentioned otherwise, please know that your cache and log book was in good condition.
We saw about 30 wallabies around this cache area
Hopping here and there and then watching us as we made the find

Went the long way up before we were guided in the right direction. Fun times climbing through the boulders. TFTC
We got to do this while while enjoying Berri and the nearby locality. We spent the long weekend in the Riverland as part of attending the Dorks two events. Beautiful weather, lovely scenery and a pleasure to find this cache. Thanks to crane2 for placing this cache.
After sleeping-in and visiting the bakery and the tourist information centre, we decided to drive through this conservation park this afternoon. An interesting place we'd never have visited if not for caching.

I spent the morning wandering around Loch Luna park chasing geocaches. Nice area never been here before. Though my magna was complaining about the corrugations in parts. I disturbed a family of kangaroos walking to this cache. Lovely waterways here.
I'll have to come back to camp sometime! TFTC crane2.

Still leisurely touring South Australia after the Mega
Now camped up at Plush's Bend for a few days it was time to head back towards Barmera to find some caches and explore the area.
Some very interesting history and some awesome scenic spots that Geocaching took us to today. [^]
We hadn't realised we could drive to the caches here in the reserve but on seeing the entrance from the nearby cache Go'n'do - Napper's Ruins we decided we should tackle these before the rain of the next few days. Quick find here, not surprised though with the current warm spell to find no campers in residence today.
Thanks for the cache and for helping us explore this area

Caching with earthlight and the xtrailers we set of to go and do a few caches around this area today, a nice quick find as we go through here finding all the Luna caches, nothing beats scrambling over these boulders to find a cache, another quick find. TFTC
It took a bit of time to found but finally found it!! Warning some rocks do move!! TFTC
We tried to get to this one from the water yesterday but couldn't find a gap in the reeds so returned today by car for the find. Thx crane2 for the cache.
Such a nice day a had to get out a finish off these caches at loch Luna, very nice view from up here, Tftc.
A great spot to eat our lunch after arriving by kayak. [:X] Great cache, great location - it's nice to see a decent cache as there don't seem to be many around anymore. We didn't swap anything, but hope it was OK to have a read while we ate! Thanks - a favourite point.
Another after dark find, quite scary on your own. Crane2 caches are a great way to see the area and a welcome leg stretcher after a day of paddling through the amazing chambers/knockburra creeks. TFTC!
