Found this one with TTO1 and TTO2 today. TTO1 and I are touring New Zealand with TTO2 for a couple of weeks and our travels brought us by this cache. So, we just had to stop and find it. I enjoyed working through this cartridge. Luckily, I've done one of these before and so was prepared with the right "TOTT" to help figure out the correct route. Favorite Point from me for this one. Were really enjoying our visit and have been exploring lots of cool spots. Im sure that we will still have a lot that we didnt get to see on this trip, so I look forward to coming back again some time to see some more of this beautiful country. Thanks for the fun!
Here in the land of the king white cloud to attend the mega in Dunedin. Many thanks to all those involved in the organisation! Today we targeted some oldies and virtuals . Much better weather and lots of fun. Travelling and caching as a group Qld+1. A big hike included! Cheers
Time to say Goodbye to Dunedin and the wet Mega...it's time for Tiz13 to meander onwards stopping to find a few caches along the way including this one.At GZ I was temporarily scratching my head expecting a needle in a haystack search but thankfully that wasn't the case.
Woke up to a fabulous sunny day but quickly cooling down. Day 7 and running around tidying up wants and needs. Back to Kittykatch and Grimraider. Finally back in NZ and this time for a Mega. Starting in Christchurch before heading south. Lots to see and do with Kittykatch and Grimraider. Will be joining with others as the days go on.Thanks for getting me out and about stegan
Dunedin MegaGreat to have a chance to find another WIG in Dunedin. Out caching with GrimRaider and Joolay. GrimRaider, Joolay and I are in NZ for the Dunedin mega event. It is great to be back to see more of this beautiful country. Thanks for hiding this cache stegan
Outnabout with Chamad, Snickersallan, Ardom, Bluewattle, Gcoven & BenM70 on my first ever trip across the ditch. Log signed as QLD+1 to save some space. After a week of caching around Brisbane and at events last month with other Geo friends, I couldnt pass up the opportunity to hop on board for a NZ Mega adventure. Another great day for caching. TFTC stegan
Completed the wherigo and made my way to GZ where the container was soon found. It was securely tucked away well away from the rough campers who were in the proximity.Cache was in good condition with a nice new log. TFTC stegan
Day 3 of our stay in Dunedin for the Mega and the rain is persisting this morning. Headed to the Mega to look at the gadget caches before braving the rain to finish of the Albatross puzzles plus any other targeted caches on our list. Signing as ACD today for Aussie Cachers Dunedin and including Icybeetas, Joolay, Kittykatch, GrimRaider, Smittengranny and isopeda. Tftc
Today was day three of my whirlwind trip to New Zealand and the Geo Toroa Mega. Caching with Kittykatch, Joolay, icybeetas, Smittengranny and barb2e. For the evening we split and I came here with Smittengranny and barb2e. The oval is a bit soggy and there are lots of Black-backed Gulls. The sings of the Blackbirds and the birch trees made me think of my childhood in Germany. TFTC *Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*
After yesterday's terrible weather we decided to have an easier day today. Wandered down to log into the Mega; then sat around the large roaring open fire until the puzzle solving seminar. Then, and only then we headed back out into the drizzle looking for some specific caches including this Not Chosen size Wherigo cache that I wanted today.Still very wet under underfoot, and yes the homeless folk living in tents nearby is a bit off-putting. Otherwise all good here. TFTC
Walked across a sodden oval and a tiny tent village a good hint and it was in my hand TFTC
After a long tiring day, our group had shrunk to include Isopeda, barb2e, and myself. We continued on for a while gathering up a few more caches and this was one of them. TFTC SL
Out and about after the Mega with Willis007 (part of the group QLD+1) finding solved puzzles and multis and other targeted caches. Logbook signed and replaced as found. Tftc
The Oval Maze (Otago)Dunedin MEGA Sunday! More great caches to be found while exploring the beautiful Dunedin. Joining forces with some Queensland comrades, we hit the road, collecting great caches along the way. Signing our logs QLD + 1 to save room, we were pleased to see most of the caches had been recently maintained and enjoyed a great variety of hides and types.A massive thank you to all of the COs for the preparation, placement and maintenance of these caches. With rebel98 finding a couple of caches around Dunedin during the MEGA weekend. The rain has eased, so before the next event came out to find a cache.Interesting wherigo, tricky final location, but eventually spotted, nicely tethered. Thanks stegan for the hide and the adventure
Another wherigo is added to my logged list. An important one for TwigNZ.And so the Mega weekend has begun. I am caching with Itchyfeet2020, Mr-Mcgoo, theSeagnoid, TwigNZ and YetiNZ. Our team name is MINTYS. TFTC stegan. And so 7 days after returning home from a five month trip to the UK and Europe, I am off on another trip. This time its within New Zealand as Itchyfeet2020 and I are on our mega road trip to Dunedin. We are focussing on particular caches for various challenges, as well as having a great lot of fun and seeing the scenery in our wonderful land. -LET US HAVE A BLOCK PARTY!!!On May 3rd, 2025, we will be celebrating 25 years of geocaching in Rotorua, New Zealand with a special Block Party event. Join us to celebrate 25 years of this amazing game, and that the very first geocache hidden outside of the United States, 25 years ago, was hidden here in New Zealand. You do not want to miss this event, so check out the "[GCAKR25](https://coord.info/GCAKR25) 25 Years of Geocaching NZ! event page, the [event website](http://25years.geocache.nz/) for more details, join the [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/groups/924894455969387) group, and sign up to the [email list](http://25years.geocache.nz/?p=4) to get updates...If you intend to come, please make sure you get your "Will Attend" log onto the page as soon as you can in order to assist with planning the first ever Block Party in New Zealand.-
Finally the Labour Weekend is upon us, and like so many around NZ I am heading down to Dunedin to attend the Mega event there, in the wonderful company of friends. Six of us are sharing accommodation and have effectively decided to be a 'team' for the weekend. So whilst we are all out caching together as a group, we have decided to create the team name MINTYS (Mr-Mcgoo, Itchyfeet2020, NZ_B, TwigNZ, YetiNZ, the Seagnoid) and all caches will be signed using that monika during our time here unless it's a challenge cache that's only being claimed by individuals. We'd had a pretty unusual night, including an extended visit to Dunedin Hospital, but by now the whole team was back together and raring to get stuck in to all the caches that we had targeted between us for varying reasons. This particular cache was very high on my own personal list, as finding it would help me towards qualification for 3 different Challenge caches that I'm currently working on. So having worked out the final co-ordinates, we were off to (hopefully) find it. We had been advised that we might encounter some homeless or tented folk, but the inclement weather meant that it was only us milling around GZ. ITchyfeet2020 made the find here, which I was delighted at, and we were soon back on our way again having put our team name into the log.Thank you for setting this one up.
(10282) Down to Dunners to attend the Mega weekend. Day 2 of the trip and selected caches have been earmarked. Since there a number of us down here we are caching as Team MINTYS for Mr-Mcgoo, Itchyfeet2020, NZ_B, TwigNZ, YetiNZ and the Seagnoid. Selected this cache as it was on TwigNZ's must get list. A quick walk and we at the GZ. The cache was soon in hand and TwigNZ was a very happy camper. Thanks stegan for taking the time to place the cache and for bringing me here.
I came down to dunedin for the mega and i was lucky enough to have a fellow geocacher who had a sister in Dunedin which meant we had a place to stay which was marvellous and over the 6-7 days i visited so many caches that some have become a blur while others i remember well . We were lucky we had only a handful of DNF although i had not taken in to account the terrain of Dunedin and its many hills , gullies , streams and walk ways around these so that meant many of the caches i had planned to visit were not visited while others were. Unfortunately not all the albatross series - although solved - were some of the unvisited caches so they are there for another visit . when ever that maybe ! It was certainly helpful to have a local in our vehicle who knew where to go ! Thank you for this cache . ESPECIALLY FOR THESE WHERIGOS
#7. Certainly the quickest D:4.5 cache I have walked down but not the easiest like my FTF on one down South; at least here was a cache to find the first time I attempted the big wooden box. WIGO's may have been handy for helping with WP's years ago but cartridge problems kept snowballing with so many peeps having problems on their devices as new models came out and old software failed. Concurred with a few peeps who's finals did not match up with mine; even visiting the zone when they stopped and I continued walking to the micro GZ. No longer a 4Lt box nor a 1Lt container. The black micro was found and had there been two caches in hide after a do-gooder had replaced one on top of the CO's maintained cache, I didn't see it but signed the only micro hidden in place. The tent city homeless have started creeping back into their old camp sites but no one near the GZ yet. A big brown grass patch hasn't recovered where Battleship is and the cache got returned to it's little hole from the painfully obvious forked hide seen from the expressway. Cache Icons jumped from Ruby to Sapphire 8 to 9 capping what I will ever achieve in PJ_GC. In our Mega'24 excitement, logslips will have yesterdays date on them when the anti cacher returns to check which micro is in place. tftc
NZ_B and I are on a road trip to the Geo Toroa Mega. I'm also hoping to get a multi every day, so it is now titled the "Mega Multi Road Trip". Today is Day 8 - We are in Dunedin and now caching as Team MINTYS for Mr-Mcgoo, Itchyfeet2020, NZ_B, TwigNZ, YetiNZ and the Seagnoid. A quick stop here for TwigNZ on particular. It's nice to have a trip where alongside targeted caches, we also take time to find one's on a whim or ones that take a bit longer. We have all day and the caches are calling...
This is day two of my Dunedin Mega trip, the first time I've ever been here before (never mind geocaching). Obviously with such a plethora of caches to find there's going to be plenty I'll skip but I hope to find my targets. Unfortunately logging is going to be generic, but thank you to all the cache owners and event organisers for the things you do.What a way to discover that my only pen had made an escape from my previous find. Took photo of blank log.All good here, and thank you to stegan for the placement of your Wherigo Cache.Find #7216 at 25 October 2024 8:42am
*** draft log for stats tracking, more later ***GC311Q1 The Oval Maze (Otago)Wherigo Not Chosen25 Oct 2024T17:55:33 NZDTTFTC steganHeading south with Heihei, along with most of New Zealands cachers, for the Dunedin Mega.Despite the still abating severe weather our flight only had a few bumpy patches, and we landed to dry weather. We had some time before the Meet & Greet.I wanted to collect this rare Not Chosen Wherigo, partly for a Wellington challenge cache. Heihei spotted it while I was wondering if I had the right coords. No signs of homeless.
No reviewer attention is required. I'm reliably assured that the geocache is there and that it is now a micro. In any case I didn't check when I replaced it yesterday, also with a micro. So there's two caches to be found...
DNF Another day, another DNF. Got the coordinates, but felt too uncomfortable to search because the nearby homeless people tents and people near them. This really sucks.
After arriving in New Zealand we discovered the islandby looking for some caches. GC311Q1 "The Oval Maze (Otago)" was one of them. All was in good condition. The cartridge worked without any problems. At the end we were able to sign the logbook. Well done. Thanks stegan and greetings from Germany

A group of 38 geocachers from Germany, Denmark, Luxembourg and Switzerland - Team Downunder24 - are traveling for 22 days from Frankfurt/Main via Doha to Australia and New Zealand. I was able to discover many wonderful things and irretrievable experiences are burned into my memory. Today we had until the afternoon to visit a few important caches in Dunedin and continue to look at the beautiful city. We were mainly out and about in the beautiful botanical garden, but despite strong winds and a few rain showers, there was still time for one or two caches. This one was there too. Thanks to stegan for the cache, luring and caring for it - kind regards from Switzerland

Danke fr diesen Geocache. Danke fr die Ausarbeitung. Danke frs Zeigen.Lieber Gru aus Duisburg / DeutschlandAndyDieser Logeintrag wird mit Hilfe von Google bersetzt.__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________We set off on a long journey with 37 geocachers from Germany, Denmark, Luxembourg and Switzerland. Three weeks to Australia and New Zealand, starting with a stopover in Doha, Qatar. I have never been so long and so far away from home. An exciting time. When geocaching, the focus was on many different cache types, but also special ratings, challenges and especially a few very old caches from the years 2000 and 2001. But also, of course, especially the geocaches that were easily accessible on foot from the hotel.Of course, the focus wasn't just on geocaching; the sights of the individual stations we visited also deserved attention. We entered our team name Downunder 2024 in the logbooks, saving logbook space and efficiently. It was a very special trip in a large team, which was also a lot of fun.Today we took the bus from Christchurch via Oamaru and Moeraki to Dunedin. Thanks for this geocache. Together with 37 Cachers, we start a journey to Australia and New Zealand via Doha.In Qatar we spent one night and had almost one full day before heading to Sydney. In Australia we visit the cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Cairns. Together with 36 other geocachers, the KiSt team undertook a very long trip to Australia ???? and New Zealand ???? for three weeks. On both the outward and return journeys, there was a stopover in Doha, the capital of Qatar ????.We experienced a great deal on this trip and gained many very different impressions of the two countries, their nature and their culture. Of course, the main focus was on visiting as many caches of as many different types as possible and also all accessible old cans. However, we also made sure to visit many special places of interest and to gain as comprehensive an impression as possible of nature and its flora and fauna. To save the logbooks, we usually signed in with our team name **Downunder24**. For "special" cans, however, we have not missed the opportunity to leave our nickname as well. This beautiful cache is now also one of our finds.Due to the large number of caches visited, it is unfortunately not possible for us to write an individual log for each can, which is why we would like to apologize to the owners for this collective log.We also met other cachers at some of the events and were able to share our experiences. Many thanks to the event owners!Of course we would like to thank all the owners for showing us the great locations, the sometimes tricky puzzles, exciting multis and wherigos, as well as the interesting virtuals and earth caches - TFTC!!!---In der Besetzung KiSt unternahmen wir zusammen mit 36 weiteren Geocachern fr drei Wochen eine sehr weite Reise nach Australien ???? und Neuseeland ????.

The Teammembers are:gc, AndyausDu, AmoebeST, B@cker-1, Biggidag, Brummelbren, CacherReisen,CacheTaucher, cooljo, Fotopinguin, Freizeit-Tina, Gazelle5111, GEOKaren, GoanToni, HFo, hupsi-1, karrai *, keeiner, Leilah03, lenny love,Lupus54, Maxipimpf, muschel3, Ollilein, Opaundenkel, penalty96, Rheins,Simowl, sozioma, Sr. Elli, Team Zyanor, viko76, Webmasterrollerin,Whlhase, XenSuo.The logbooks were mostly signed under the teamname "Team DownUnder24" and answers were sent to owners for the group, as appropriate. This has been a great trip with a multifold of new impressions and experiences.During our stay in Nea Zealand we had also the opportunity to visit some caches. This cache was also among our finds today. Thanks for leading us here and showing and thanks for the cache.
We had a great time in Australia and New Zealand and looked at many sights. Today we looked at Dunedin and discovered many beautiful sights and details through geocaching.?? I am also part of the large tour group from Germany, for reasons of space, we have entered the logbook as **DownUnder24**.Thank you for luring and hiding, says ollileinThe tour group includes: gc, AndyausDu, AmoebeST, B@cker-1, Biggidag, Brummelbren, CacheTaucher, cooljo, Fotopinguin, Freizeit-Tina, Gazelle5111, GEO Karen, GoanToni, HFo, hupsi-1, karrai *, Leilah03, lenny love, Lupus54, Maxipimpf, muschel3, Ollilein, Opaundenkel, penalty96, Rheins, Simowl, sozioma, Sr. Elli, Team Zyanor, viko76, Webmasterrollerin, Whlhase, XenSuo
My third week-long getaway this summer has me down in Queenstown for a few days of supporting the New Zealand brewing industry (and support it I have) followed by a few days in Dunedin supporting some of the influx of students into Otago university. Its a tough week, with only minimal time for Geocaching, but this was one I found.Today had me driving from Queenstown to Dunedin, and once here my notes told me to go find some Wherigo's, cos it's Wednesday. Must be a challenge cache somewhere that requires that. So I did.No problem with the maze, but the hide was a little tricky. The coordinates were accurate enough, the problem was there is a tent right next to the cache hide location and whoever is camping there is using the area as both his own personal rubbish bin and toilet. Not sure what that's all about. Didn't seem like the occupant was home at the time I was there so was able to quickly retrieve the cache, sign the log, and return it. I was careful to make sure it was well concealed.---Thanks to stegan for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge.
16:19 I had a big wherigo outing in the Oval a year and a half ago. Did all the ones here at that time but I see that there's a new one added now. Not going for that this time but as I saw that the final for this one is replaced, stopped to find it and claim my well-earned smiley I don't remember much about doing the maze anymore, but as I noted in my DNF log, took me about 20mins, and I ran into a dead end once. But I do remember that out of the wherigos I did that day, this was my favourite! So a FP is due to be awarded here.Let's hope that those tents don't move closer to GZ. Is there someone living there at the moment? I didn't see anyone when passing by, but didn't also try to look too hard.Kia ora! Paldies! Thanks for the cache, stegan! +Fav!#10161
Today I decided to try and complete 2 Wherigos that I need for a Wellington Challenge cache.I really enjoyed walking all over the field. I'm not certain whether I was being watched by people in the tents under the trees or not.Cheers for the cache, Stegan. Thanks to Daywalk for the replacement container.
One litre black screwtop (donated by KiwiChris) replaced according to hint. Worth keeping this Wherigo going - The maze is fiendishly clever!

I got to say, this was my favourite from the wherigos around here.
Took me about 20mins to go from Area51 to the exit zone. And ran into one dead end on the way.
But, unfortunately, I could not locate the final cache. I just found a big bag of rubbish in one of the two bushes closest to GZ.

Grey Hams did the hard yards on this one. I was to do the needle in a haystack but with phone issues of it not wanting to download, my phone crashing the app repeatedly, my phone freezing and then finally dying by running out of battery, well... I wasn't much use! So GH paced it out a little trail and error, but was succefull in completing it and pleasing it was too! I wasn't much use but did find the cache in the almost darkness and sign so at least contributed as best i could. Its an interesting Wherigo and love that.
Trip log: When cheap flights presented the opportunity to go to NZ with GreyHams, who was keen to get the 5 2000 caches and the web cam I was of course very keen to tag along. I didn't want to miss out on that... Equally as keen for those caches myself and the first chance to get the passport out in a long time and head overseas while we could. Covid Happenings of course did put the trip in doubt and a last minute effort from GreyHams to get the flights changed and it was looking like this might actually happen... until I arrived I truly didn't think it would!
The cache list was quite simple, the 5 2000 caches and the webcams. Of course we did look at others as we travelled, types, DT, not chosen which were in abundunce and caches of quality, if your cache made our list it had a quality we needed. Many thanks for your cache that helped guide us along our way.
Certainly it was a memorable time, barefoot 500 plus metres across a mud estuary of shells and crabs was more fun than it should be. As was pushing through wet thick high flax or tall wet grass across to the caches. But the most memorable would be the fog, the thickest, most relentless fog but it provided some stunning scenery at times and was just crazy.
I loved seeing all the chinese takeaways that did fish and chips, the perfect hedges and a deserved shout out to Indian Zaika for its great food! Certainly with the fog and rain it was an interesting trip and we got quite drenched at times, it hid a lot that NZ has to offer but 'it's a caching trip' after all so it ticked all the right boxes and was very enjoyable regardless. Huge thanks to GreyHams for letting me tag along while he did all the planning, booking, driving and sending in the answers for the caches... as always!

Trip log:
International travel!!...OMG it feels good. Grabbed some cheap flights and anxiously waited for some outbreak to derail the plan, but that amazingly didn't happen. Sure, I had to scramble and reroute our trip via Brisbane & Sydney as we were originally going through the plague pit...aka Melbourne, but we still made it.
Having done most of the North Island, it was good to finally have a crack at the South. 5 year 2000 caches and a webcam, thats a nice little haul. Sure, some of the year 2000 caches involved bush bashing....in the rain/fog/mist...but we got them all. We had lots of other little targets like getting all our types/sizes/DT, NZ in particular has so many 'Not Chosen' size caches, super rare back in Oz, so we made sure to get as many as possible. If you are reading this, its because this cache had a quality we were chasing.
As always, the Earthcaches and the Virtuals took us to some really cool places, the Steampunk HQ and the boulders being birthed at the beach being the highlights. My favourite cache though would have to be the one where we had to walk 500m over a mud flat, dodging shells and crabs with our bare feet.
This trip will be remembered as the 'fog trip' as we saw a lot of it, which meant we saw little else. Oh, that and how every Chinese takeaway also doubles as the fish & chip shop....its a thing!

This is a cool wherigo game! Haven't come across 1 like it before but we'll worth trying it out if you're in the area! Thankfully I had the place to myself so my random wanderings didn't receive any funny looks
Cache was drowned when I found it so tried draining it while writing up this log
Currently on my way back to Christchurch via some geocaches This one will wrap up my Wonders of the World set #4 too!
TFTC ... Wasn't quite the size I was expecting but I did wonder how you'd hide the other size around here

I have been working almost 24/7 for the last couple of days and finally got what was needed doing finished this morning. Then I had to go in to the Ōtepoti office to sign off a few things. After that I decided I deserved a treat and so came over here to the oval to try for at least one of these wherigos. I had started this years ago when one of my old GPS read wherigos and several times since on various devices but always ended with a bug after the first couple of steps. Same thing happened today when I got a message saying something like the simulator was disabled. So I swapped to the needle in a haystack and was was delighted with the incredulous result there. So I started this again and lo and behold it worked. I progressed a long way through and then thought I was either going to have to start agin or backtrack quite a way but instead I arrived at the exit square. You cannot believe how happy I am (on both counts) to get a couple of these wherigos sorted. Nice quick find, although quite embedded. TFTC # 16,300
Finally found. Solved this in May 2014 after it had been muffled and never found the opportunity to look again until today. Easy find this time. Nice to have finally bagged it. A ver novel Wherigo.

Visiting from Hawaii Caching with foomanjoo. On a cruise thru New Zealand and heading to Australia. Thanks so much for placing this cache stegan. Much appreciated. First Wherigo in New Zealand. Woohoo!!
Fun find with Cache_Lee during a day’s adventure off the Noordam. This didn’t take as long as we had expected and we’re so excited to have completed a Wherigo in NZ! Thanks for the fun, stegan!

Thanks I started this ages ago but had a time limit so no luck. Came back again still no luck as another time limit. Maybe I should write down what I’m doing. Oh I think maybe that was my mistake.
Back again but try for the needle first. I found that this time. (Not my first attempt). But it was a lucky break. Another go at the maze. Another fail.
I really should be able to solve this.
Back again. Started again got a little bit around. Thought you should be noting where you are going. Oh well you remember where lots of the numbers are. Just keep trying.
Backwards and forwards oh well maybe go this way, haven’t done these numbers before. No time limit this time. Just keep going.
I do wonder what the public think.
Great there is the answer. What a relief. Will save for a dot day.
Today son at soccer practice at Jubilee Park. Dot day. Four choices of cache to find in the hour I have. Also need a run today. Off I head. No luck at one too much traffic. No luck at two not sure if I’m in the right place. Three this cache. Took a bit slight wrong place first try. Only a couple of pieces of rubbish. Great found and signed. Now I’ve got to run fast to get back in time.
Made it. They always run a bit late anyway.

After a marathon effort - about two hours of walking around this field, First trying to sink a bunch of ships (that took three attack waves) then spent a heap of time hunting for a needle. We started scribing arcs - me with the gps plotting a constant distance to the published coordinates, taybeedragon behind withthe gps looking for the needle. but we stated close to GZ - should have realised that further away was more likely. After a while we abandoned that with the intention of coming back later, which, incidentally, we never got around to doing, and started on this maze. I had the wherigo and identified the paths, Taybeedragon had the pen and paper and was plotting it out. Found a number of errors in the maze - for instance I found some exits that aren't exits (incorrect drawing), but we worked through those easily enough. Found a few dead ends, we must have walked 3/4 of the maze in the end. The cache was straight forward at least! By the time we had shot down the navy, hunted (and did not complete) a search for the ruddy needle that someone had dropped, and got lost in this maze, we were hear nearly 2 hours just wandering around the field. A huge ramble of getting nowhere!
I am working on my own maze based wherigo in Blenheim, and when I saw this I was worried that mine might be too similar. Luckily, no - mine is three dimensional, actually has denizens, and also real life hazards to negotiate. And the cache is built into the story (it has a story!) rather than just a completion reward. Alas there is still a lot of work remaining on it, it won't be ready for a while.
Taybeedragon and I have an eleven day Easter weekend in Dunedin. Although, let's face it, given that we are from Blenheim and Picton that means two of those days was spent in travelling. In that time we grabbed a smidge over three hundred caches. Not bad, considering the amount of time spent way out on the back roads, on bicycles or canoeing on the water. A few virtuals, larges, letterboxes, earths, wherigos, and even ten lab caches in the haul. An awesome weekend!

Its Easter Friday morning and all is quiet at the Oval thankfully. The Gypsy Fair is parked up in the far corner probably wondering what the hell we are doing. Just finished walking round finding battleships. Now its pen and paper time to track us through this maze. Must have completed 3/4 of it by the end. Interesting time. Now off to GZ for a quick hunt. Replaced log with RITR paper here to keep this one chugging along. Cheers.
Easter Friday 19 April - Dunedin central ++.
Its another awesome geoventure to Dunedin, with The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby, Jack, Jill and William all along for the trip. Had a wonderful 10 days exploring Dunedin. It was great catching up with local cachers at several events we attended. Lots of walking and driving, with the odd cycle and wave ride to jazz things up. Thanks to all the COs that made this trip a wonderful success. Even managed to bag some lab caches along with wherigos, earth caches and events, with the usual mix taking us to some amazing places..

We arrived to the oval at 11 am planning on doing as many whereigo as we could before lunch!!! Ha! We walked round and round the maze and cue 1pm when we found the actual cavhe after many wrong turns. Wr found mapping it out on paper was helpful. Quixm find at gz after a long time getting the Coords! ! Great idea for a cache of a little frustrating! Log wet. Fav point.
Did the maze. Got the instructions. Realised there were lots of DNF's and Needs Maintaince Logs so didn;t have much hope... Hunted for the bucket but not hope there and then Found a reduced version of the container, but correct logbook. Signed it along with the Invercargill crew. Nice to complete one of these here. Needs a new logbook and tidy up, didn;t have the required tools and replacement to tidy up and dry out the cache today...

Found with Tuitigger and searchwisely the Chosens and POB. We struggled around the maze and got to GZ in the fading light. Expected to find a 4 litre container as per description. Found something smaller. Yippee
Took a while to nut this one out and to find a time we could use the grounds without half the population of Dunedin milling around GZ, eventually found the right time and got the information we needed. Cache was not the size we were expecting and the log needs replacing as it's quite wet. TFTC
Six cachers, 3 devices... all walking in different directions... one followed instructions correctly... and cache found quickly, although very wet. A sample of my walk in pic.
We spent ages working on this one... the wherigo was great fun but sadly as try as we might we just couldn't find it at all. Really shame but we hope its us rather than the cache but after over a year without finds it could have gone.
Started enthusiastically in Dunedin having earmarked a few of the many wherigos but although we had no trouble with the cartridges we DNF several of them.
This had only one hint item in the area but there was no cache there

#14705. We spent a very enjoyable day in the Dunedin area caching with KiwiChris and Mrs KC. We arrived here late afternoon, and it was muggle central. Most of them were playing or watching spot, but one little one was lurking right on GZ. That made searching tricky. Eventually Troodles made the find, much to our relief. TFTC.
Troodles did the work on this one, although I am not sure how much graph paper she went through. Easy find once we got to GZ, although the presence of a female mugglet delayed return a bit.

Found with StreetWalker and KiwiChris on day 6 of our road trip to the Oamaru Geofest, taking the scenic route, of course. Today we are exploring Dunedin and surrounds, on a beautiful spring day.
This was my favourite wherigo, loved the concept. Best to do with grid paper! Unfortunately, a young girl was mooching around GZ. I managed to make the find but couldn't return the cache for some time. Thank goodness she finally left and I was able to return it. Many thanks for all your caches today, stegan. I appreciate the time and effort that you have put into geocaching. TFTC.

Cool! Another WIG! And surprisingly I had the oval all to myself...
I wonder what people thought in case they watched me!?
Well, nobody asked any questions and they also didn't call for a doctor for the insane to wrap me up in a straitjacket.
After a relatively short while I was able to exit the maze and enter the geozone. wher I found the box (which must have shrunk from 4 liters to maybe 200ml).

A long time in the planning but this "once in a lifetime" holiday has finally come to fruition and will see us travelling around as much of New Zealand as we can manage in six weeks. This is not a caching trip, Yvonne doesn't participate but she does tolerate, so I hope to pick up a few here and there. And it's great to get away from the English Winter!
Day 6
A carefully negotiated morning's caching for me and then on to Larnach Castle and, in the evening, albatrosses and penguins.
The maze fell to a methodical approach but the cache prove elusive. Only myself to blame - the co-ordinates are pretty good, I just wasn't looking in the correct place.
BaSHful.

I'm currently hitchhiking my way around the world and geocaching everywhere I go. My first stop was in Ireland where I spent a couple weeks touring the country. I then flew to London and spent a couple weeks touring the United Kingdom. From there I made my way through the tunnel and up to Amsterdam and then back down to Belgium. After that I headed for France. Then from there I headed to Portugal for a mega event that was happening. After that I headed for Denmark to attend another Mega event. I then made my way North into Sweden and then even further North to Norway. After that I proceeded to work my way back down South through Finland and then ferry hopped my way through a few of the islands to arrive back in Sweden. Next I made my way to Germany for another Mega event and then back to the Netherlands for still another mega event before heading for Luxembourg. After that the next stop along my journey was Switzerland. I then made a quick detour up to Belgium to grab a July 2000 geocache I had overlooked before making my way to Croatia passing through Austria and Slovenia along the way. After that my route took me East to Serbia and then through Romania into Moldova. I then couldn't resist going North and crossing into the Ukraine. After that I began heading South passing through Romania once again. I then passed through Bulgaria as I raced for Turkey in order to catch a flight to Australia timing it so that I could attend a mega event happening there. After that I made an extensive 2 month tour through all 8 states of Australia before flying over to the North Island of New Zealand. I then gradually worked my way south to Wellington and took the ferry over to the South Island. I then continued hitchhiking my way around the South Island via Blenheim, Murchison, Spring Junction, Leithfield Beach, the bypass around Christchurch to Ashburton, Dunedin, Brighton, Bluff, Queenstown, Danseys Pass, and then Christchurch airport.
Having done a similar style Wherigo back in the USA, I knew exactly what to expect and even guessed at the size of the maze. I then drew it out on paper as I went and quickly found myself at the exit and the final location in hand. I then hiked to ground zero and made the easy find.
Giving this a favorite point because I love mazes and this was well done.
Thank you so much for placing this geocache!

A sunny day to be walking around the oval. I've attempted this one before but gave up because it started to rain and get really cold. Final was nice and easy to find. Thanks
I managed to get the cassette onto my phone and working so after the MEGA catch up event I thought I'd give it a go.
Plodded round and round for about 1 1/2 hours, a few hiccups and waits involved but finally the CoOrds popped up.
Moved onto the final location in the gathering dark and soon had hands on.
I'd read the previous logs and replaced the logbook with a new log and bag from my go-bag.
Old log removed and dumped, it was mush and unreadable.

We'd done most of the leg work for this one when we were looking for the 'virtual needle in a haystack' a month or so ago, but each time we'd thought about going back to finish there were lots of sport playing muggles about. Driving past today and took the opportunity of a deserted oval to have another quick run through, then a quick sign of the soggy log book. Found with Aoraki Sheep.
Cache found quickly once co-ords were in hand. Log is now very wet and we only just managed to scrawl our names on it. Needs some TLC. Found with debsnz
What a great cache- not sure how much work would have gone into that Wherigo!?
It probably took 0.5-1hr I think wandering all over the maze and people observing must have thought I was crazy! The kids were getting restless and I thought "I'll just give it five minutes more" and sure enough before too long the exit was in sight . A matter of persistence I think.
Then it was off to GZ (log is really damp and needs drying out) and found the cache.
Did it all on the app I have on the iPhone and the only thing I needed was persistence- the maze can be navigated but just takes some patience- the cartridge worked fine without any issues. TFTC!

Last summer the idea was born to visit [Green]'New Zealand'[/Green], together with [url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url]
After some important decisions regarding the beginning of our trip, the flights, the general route and the car were made, the most important question was still unanswered: which caches can we visit during our tour [?]
To get an answer for this topic I was fetching almost every cache from both islands [8)][:X]
[url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url] and I love [Teal]'Geo-Arts'[/Teal]...so we added all these cache series to our wish list
After this decision was made this list was more than 300 puzzle caches long...unsolved puzzle caches
Two weeks before Christmas it was getting time to start solving all these mystery caches
Even with the different language I could find almost every solution
In the case I was not so successful I was contacting some of the CO's...and was always getting help from them...many thanks for this support [:X]
During the following weeks our cache list was growing and growing...meanwhile more than 1000 caches long...too long for a simple bookmark list from GC
Time to get our route and caches in sync...time to save the PQ's to our Garmins...time to start this holiday:
Chapter 8: [red]Dunedin[/red] to [green]Invercargill[/green]
This day visiting the 'Catlins National Park' was the mission of the day
During our long drive we also stopped for some caches [:X]
This wherigo cache was one of them
With two android players it was really fun to find the way through the maze
I would like to thank all the cache owners for showing us these great places and maintaining all these caches,

During our great time we could see a lot of beautiful places and we also could find 'some' caches in the area...this was one them [:X]
Many thanks to all CO's for all these nice caches
