12679. Located by baby&Mrs gopher while out caching with Simber15 for the day. Not used to this type of terrain as it is mostly flat back home. We parked up and baby got the floor mat out of the truck to cover the barbed wire on the fence. Made the walk to gz and SL Tnx 1MinnieMoo and another FP from us. Took TB.

Nice scrap meal and sculpture!

My final geocache find during my road trip home, and *Scrap* was one of the only OG wingaap geocaches that I had yet to find. I am not sure why I had left this geocache behind long Wingaap Way, but only to blame a shortage in time, shortage in energy, or both. I suspected that I had just enough time to make a last stop, so I made the safe pullover, and then headed towards GZ. I did the usual thing, making it much tougher in, than out. I ended up starting to descend into the valley and then skidded along the sides, before edging back out and towards the knoll, where the cache construction came into view.

Wow, this cache was awesome, and I'm glad I did this wingaap cache separately to the others so I could appreciate it independently, I also enjoyed how the inner container was positioned and secured - a lot of thought and ingenuity has gone into this construction. The cache container and logbook were in good shape, and I took the TB on future travels. Favourite Point! Thanks 1MinnieMoo for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

----------

During this extended weekend, it was a trip north to find the 65 Roses geoart in Kilcoy, followed by two days boating on Lake Somerset to defeat the Dark Side series joined with [GurTheWanderer](https://coord.info/PRWMPWQ) and [stairman1](https://coord.info/PR4R27Z).

Today, we were back on the water and after defeating the dark series lord yesterday, our plan was to head north and detour past the small traditional caches subset. The lake was at 80% capacity with not too many boating muggles about. We launched the boat from the Day Visitor Area's eastern boat ramp early at 07:00 hr, and the lake was still shrouded in mist/fog, which made navigation interesting. Another few hours passed whilst driving the boat and shuttled between geocaches, before returning back to the boat ramp to return our hire boat. We started to return home south passing through Somerset Dam before splitting, and my route was then south through Bryden and Dundas, and then west through Mount Glorious. My final drive/adventure was then the Goat Track up to Mount Nebo Road, and a walk from Boombana in D'Aguilar National Park. A near-perfect Winter weather day!

So cute! Thank you Wingaap and 1MinnieMoo. It was great to do some real bush-bashing for once instead of city caches. And I took a Singaporean friend along (DebOutAbout) - unfortunately I am not sure she feels the same way! The steep fire trails with loose gravel were too tricky for her to climb down with confidence. Dropped a trackable. At least, I think I put it in the Scrap cache and not the Bush Shower (opps!)

1MinnieMoo I found your cache Scrap on 20/6/2023, 3:30 pm. This is my find 5647 and find # 11 today. A quick and easy find. A favourite from me for the clever construction. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN

As it is Favourite Fans month I decided to head out to Wingaap Drive today to find some highly favourited caches. After collecting the Wingaap Drive cache as my milestone cache in honour of the great cache creator, I continued up the road collecting some of his old caches.

I enjoyed the bush bash to get to this one and on arriving quickly spotted Scrap. He is a wonderful piece of art and lovingly crafted. The method of obtaining the log was pretty funny too.

Thanks 1MinnieMoo for maintaining this beautiful cache.

First reaction of the geokids: Wow!
Scrap is indeed very cool!

Scrap art. So creative.

My target cache today was a nearby puzzle one so I decided to continue my walk and find the Wingaap caches near the road, doing a circuit. I've not found many of Wingaap's caches before but found five today - so a lot of fun, except for the ups and downs walking along the Nebo Road Fire Break. What a great piece of artwork and thanks for maintaining it. I left a pencil as there was none there. I'll be giving a few FPs today Smile. Tftc

Sunday.

Out today with OBC, Mr and Mrs SP were hoping to grab some caches. We were targeting Wingaap caches and anything that looked good. This was one SP had found previously, but it was really good to re-visit this one as it is a fantastic cache and highly recommend anyone pay this cache a visit also.

27-Jun-21
Heading out with Mr and Mrs SP today with one mission - to find as many Wingaap caches as we could. This was the second cache for the day. Wingaap, your caches have entertained and inspired geocachers for decades, and I sincerely hope I have not found your last cache. You're appreciated. I have run out of FPs today, but each and every cache certainly deserves one.

21-Jun-21
After reading that Scrap was going to be archived, we made time today to head out to find it. Really love this cache. A piece of art.
As always, did not disappoint.
Glad we made it out here before Scrap is gone.
Thanks for all your caches.

20-Jun-21
A recent FB post about this caches future prompted us to make a special trip today to come and see it for ourselves. We parked along Mt Nebo Road and made our way towards the hiding location. The kids loved the bush bash and we soon found ourselves at GZ. Scrap did not disappoint. What an amazing piece of work. We took some photos of the kids posing with the little fellow before signing the log and continuing the journey. Having found a few Wingaap caches previously, we knew we were in for a great afternoon. Might need to petition the council have the suburb name changed to " The Wingaap". Another FB point to add to the tally and another massive thanks for the effort in building these awesome caches.

24-May-21
I seriously walked past this little fellow. His rust has him well camouflaged even they he stands so proud. Cute little ‘Cach-a-burrs”-see what I did there. Lid was hard to get off, so please don’t screw on too tight-have mercy on those of us with muppet arms

Thank you so much for your awesome caches and amazing art.

Absolutely loving these caches, can't wait to get back out this way for more. This one was really cute! Brought a smile to my face when I tracked it down. TFTC!

Didn't have a pen on me took a picture for proof. Back burning hasn't affected it. Soooo creative love this guy!! Quite hard to spot at first but we found it.

17-Jul-20
Out to continue my trad a day and my cache a day challenges, which is now starting to become a difficult challenge due to fitting it in with my work and the lack of local caches. While I managed to get away from work early yesterday, today I have come back to finish of the ones in this area and a few more up the road.

There has been a bit of burn off in the area so not sure how this will affect the caches in the area. I got 4 to do in this spot with a little walk between each one. Parked in the middle of the group and started my walk. First was on a dark knight, what a cool cache, truly a huge amount of work has gone into this one, another favourite point from me . all good with the cache and log.
Next was scrap, all good with this one, was sure if the (pic included) was part of the cache, but there was a few others in the area as well.
My third one was the bush shower, this took a little searching to find as it was hidden from the angles at which I was looking. Once I expanded the search it was easily spotted. Cache was a little hard to open but I managed and got the shock of my life by the resident living inside, it’s huge and very hairy. Log was dry and all good.
The last one was gunnie and just a short walk from the road. What an interesting design at first look, then a very different cache inside. The cache and log was all dry and good.

Thank you for placing these in this area, I enjoyed the walk and the search.

06-Jun-20
Absolutely awesome! Once again another favourite! Thanks for the hide!

03-May-20
Another fantastic cache by wingapp. A little damp inside but plenty of goodies. Thanks again!

Very very wet! Cool sculpture log was unable to be signed as we didn’t have a pen on us. TFTC

A quick jog along the ridge this morning to go where I found this delightful fella. Disembowelled him to retrieve the log which I signed and returned. Tftc!

A little bit of colonoscopy surgery carried out here today . Extracted, signed and shoved back in. TFTC Wingaap, your creativity is profoundly engaging.

13-Jul-19
An otherwise domestic weekend, but with an early morning start I have a couple hours to "get out and about". Having sorted a couple of older caches in the area it was time to think about heading back to housework ... one more. I approached this one from the very wrong angle - so I got my heart workout this morning OK. Snuck up on it from behind. I was kind of curious what this great CO considers 'scrap' ... wow. I've seen a fair few of his creations now, and this is as good as any of them. It has 67 .... uh, 68 now, FPs for a reason.

The hike back to the car was done sensibly.
Thanks wingaap for entertaining me at this location.
Cool *{Overall find #6729}* Cool

Out in the area with E_Smiley picking up a few highly recommended caches that have been on our to-do list for quite some time. Would have been an effort lugging this cache into the bush, well done CO, a favorite point from me.

It was perfect weather to head out and find a few caches, overcast with showers. So I decided to travel to this area and create a few more smileys for my map.
I managed to get to this one easier then the last one. Glad I didn't take the direct route. What a cute cache!

Thanks for the cache wingaap Big Grin

Cleaned out cache. New log book. Ready to go...happy hunting

We got a bit excited and walked straight past this one without seeing it, but after a quick backtrack, we found another awesome cache! The time and effort put into these caches is amazing, the owner is obviously incredibly talented. Our favourite points are quickly draining after today, but these caches are well deserving.

05-Apr-19
I had been craving a Geocaching adventure for quite a while and with the Cache Carnival still happening I thought finding creative caches in the area would be incredible and it would also get up my points.
We parked the car in a safe spot nearby and headed towards this cache. I certainly hadn’t prepared for some of the steep hill climbs and the bush bashing because I am prone to losing my footing (it was proven on multiple occasions haha!) but it was CERTAINLY worth it!
We managed to find the geo-trail easily and followed it along to GZ. When we arrived my heart was so content!!!! SUCH A CUTIE AHH! Thank you for placing this absolute beauty. A favourite point from me. TFTC!

03-Apr-19
So cute but log book is wet even though it's sealed. Still writeable though! X.

I love these Wingaap caches they are never boring. A cache a day to keep the doctor away TFTC all good

Am in Bne visiting daughter. With a bit of time to myself, I decided to get some Carnival points. Went too far down to only come back up where there's a ridge line. Doh. Nice garden sculpture. TFTC Wingaap

29-Mar-19
It has been a while since I found my last Wingaap cache and I am glad that there were a few around that I hadn't found as they had accumulated favourite points which I could utilize for the current Cache Carnival challenge. I knew that I would be in for a unique experience.

I left my wife in the car and struggled through the barbed wire fence and headed down the trail. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I didn't have to head down the steep bank on the other side.

I arrived at the search area and I must have had the wrong glasses on today as I didn't spot the hide until I had searched a few "normal" hiding spots. I am surprised that it didn't bight me.

Another great creation. Somehow there was still water in the cache even after the last cacher drying it out. I have left the log book out of the plastic bag to see if that helps it to dry out. The cache returned in a "draining" attitude.

Of course there is another FP for the creation. TFTC wingaap

27-Mar-19
We never realised scrap could look so good Fantastic cache!
Somehow water is getting into this cache and the logbook is sodden. We gently peeled the pages apart and managed to sign it without tearing the paper. Dried everything as best we could. Put the logbook in a new ziplock bag but left it open hoping it’ll dry out.
Your creation deserves another Fav Point wingaap

17-Nov-18
After pulling out on another cache because the terrain grabbed us by the balls, we initially bypassed this one on the walk out. All we could see were drop-offs and too many hills to contemplate walking this far off the track. On the slow trek back I saw a likely access point and Mrs Woodyrothwell said we wouldn’t be back so told me to go for it.

I took a waypoint of where we left the track which is S27 26.0...., scrap that, the best waypoint is Archerfield airport in a helicopter.

Anyway, the walk was easy and I don’t think any sort of pre-planning would have helped. (because they didn’t). The contours in the area are just there so you can poke yourself for not being a “tough” cacher and were clearly drawn by some prep students.

As we got close I once again put the phone away and just stood and stared like I was looking at breasts on a man (you know it’s weird but you have to look). Soon Mrs Woodyrothwell spied the hide and after taking some photos we stamped the log and decided to add a favourite point. Shit, we still have to get out of here. tftc

Such excitement from the geokids on finding this! TFTC!

Nothing better than a Wingapp cache!

24-Jun-18
Scrap is ever so cute!
It was a lovely walk along the ridge to arrive at GZ on a beautiful Sunday morning.
A lot of work has gone into the creation of this beautiful creature. Another huge effort from Wingaap to bring pleasure and adventure to the caching community.

Thanks

TFTC. It was good fun and the kidlets enjoyed finding them.

03-Jun-18
TFTC. Over in Oz for a bit of sunshine and relaxation.
I have decided to look for quality instead of quantity and have been having a blast.
My non caching partner decides on the destination the day before and I filter the caches.
Then we get a surprise at GZ.
I have really enjoyed finding these hand made treasures in the bush.
A fav from me.
Thanks so much Wingaap for the great cache.

No 3 and I took the travel bug for a little walk. TFTC

26-Apr-18
Well that fire track sure likes to go up and down. Certainly getting our steps up today.
Arrived at GZ and found a great sculpture that could easily be on display at some museum. I loved it.
Left a TB to keep him company.

Up hill & down dale & onto the next fabulous cache. What an amazing creature to find in the middle of the bush, you are very talented wingaap!
Thanks for yet another great cache.

Friday. Very clever little guy sitting out here in the bush! Found quickly and signed the log. Took a fantastic path tag (thank you, Igotahunch). Yet another fantastic cache!

This was the 8th of 11 caches found on today's trip.

Thanks ***wingaap***, for showing us this place. Smile

Another fine wingaap cache. I love what you do with junk. If I look carefully I can see where each part came from. Did you build the sculptures in the city???? Love your work tftc

All the caches along the "Wingaap Way" are fantastic, so we decided to break up the hunt in smaller sections to appreciate each of them rather than power trail along. Today, we went out to gather another handful of these gems.

How cute is this?!

I was looking in the wrong direction as I approached this cache when I saw something out hte corner of my eye and thought "that's not natural...". A very creative use of scraps. TFTC.

17-Dec-16
What a piece of scrap! Strangely enough it seemed to take us a while to find at GZ until geohubby turned around and it was staring him in the face. Took a photo to show kids at home, the creativity and artwork is amazing. When we started on this walk we passed everyone swimming and kayaking and we thought what a terrific area, we will come with our kayaks next time to paddle out and find a cache or two. For now we can only dream of that cool water, boy it's hot out here, damn we wish we were at that dam...
Tftc Wingaap, FP sweated off of us and was left behind near your friend;)

28-Sep-16
Awesome creation! Love it! Fav Point for effort

28-Sep-16
Was looking at my geocaching map for potential places to cache today on my day off. Northwest seemed like an attractive option - I haven't explored too far past Ashgrove and Mt Coot-Tha. As a bonus, it seemed like there were quite a few caches with quite a lot of favourite points. Decision made! I hiked the loop along the firebreaks and Duck Creek Rd. I have to say, the caches on this loop rivalled the McHoots series on the southside as my equal favourite caching experience in Brisbane!

Fairly easy walk out to this one from the road TFTC

You are a creative legend with scraps and a welder Wingaap. So glad I saw the light of day and agreed with geoguy and didn't trek down vale and up hill in a direct line from the Dark Night to this guy! Instead I followed his logic and headed back to the car, up the road and followed a much more pleasant trail to this metal geo find. This cache makes this

Continuing along the trail this one pointed left off the trail with aprox 100m to go?? Oh well there appeared to enough clearing for us to head towards GZ. Very happy that we didn't need to bush bash our way through but were offered an easy to follow worn path. Fb03 spotted this one from a distance and was impressed. Another great hide, TFTC wingaap

After finding what i thought would be the easiest way in,only being 130m away, i started off through the bush. Was that such a good idea? I think not. Well, you've come this far, may as well keep going.
Oh look, you're only 30m away. What that i spy....could it be....yes.
A very intuitive way to use scrap. Signed and returned. Tftc

soooo coooool. Found with Jacob_Barton. TFTC

27-Sep-15
Poor old scrap, what a name for such a magnificent creature. We boosted his ego a little bit by telling him what a beautiful boy he was, and he soon gave up his prize (or dropped his guts, no wait...wrong forum for that *ahem* must regain some decorum Razz ). Loved this cache, take a fp for this one wingaap and tftc!

27-Sep-15
Stortigirls and I were out to find some caches. As the youngest of the stortigirls was initially supposed to join us, I had decided that some wingaap caches would be fun to find. Unfortunately, she had a last minute change of heart and the adults were left to have fun on their own.
Another walk though the bush to GZ, where the cache was quickly located and the log signed

19-Sep-15
Loved the cache soooooo cool

05-Sep-15
The fire break has so many hill climbs but these off takes to well crafted cache containers make the walk worthwhile. TFTC wingaap

20-Aug-15
The location of this cache on the map had for some reason left it outside my range of found caches along this stretch, so today since I was in the area decided to fix that up.

I parked at a good off road spot and started in, I was rather thankful that the amount of Lantana at least from this approach was considerably less and considerably lighter then my last visit to the area. Even still I managed to pass the cache and loop back around and approach from below, not sure how that happened.

Anyway it did not take long to spot another great cache container, and my name was soon added to the log. surprise, surprise I actually found a resemblance of a path on the way back out.

Extremely creative cache! Loved it!! TFTC

02-Aug-15
An awesome sunny day for caching and Dawesy321, Genyo and I set off across town to the Enogerra reservoir and Mt Nebo areas.

By the time Genyo and I dragged out weary legs to GZ, Dawesy had extracted the logbook and was admiring the cache. It certainly is a nice example of the Aussie wildlife here Smile

A FAVE point for this little beauty!

On we rolled…

TFTC Wingaap!

01-Aug-15
Ms Maddy, Genyo and I parked nearby and began the walk to GZ. Before long I found myself at GZ without them and had the log signed and put back in place before they arrived. I casually sat and watched as they searched for the cache... hehe... TFTC!

My daughter rang me late this morning and after a few minutes I realised she was at a loss of what to do with her day. My wife was at work and my daughters fiancee was in Sydney, so I suggested we should go geocaching for the afternoon.
I then proceeded to download some nearby caches and also somecaches along Wingaap Drive that would involve a walk thru the Aussie bush. We enjoyed a lovely afternoon together having a chat, probably one of those talks you don't always have at home. Nice!
Getting closer to the cache we looked toward the obvious places, then I told Michelle that wingaap has probably left this cache out in the bush, there's no need to hide anything out here. Shortly afterwards we found Scrap, that's a lot of useless metal made into an amazing piece of art. Thanks wingaap, all nice and dry. A fav from us!
