Lovely day out with ROC

22-Jun-24
After a long day of MTBing around the woodlands, we found it (Tigs, Heath, Sam). On behalf of ROC, thanks for the caches.

Nice to get to the end of these but we did miss 4 and 2 DNFThanks for this series and a fav here for the whole series

TFTC.....well this it, after three visits to Woodlands, approximately forty-five kilometres walked, the end is in sight. It is with a hint of sadness, I find the cache and sign the log, knowing my time at Woodlands has come to an end. Woodlands and by virtue Team, Woodlands have again shown me why I love the Australian bush so much!!Whether it is the constantly changing landscape; the iconic kangaroos, standing to attention, watching our progress and then deciding to hop away leaving the "mad" humans to their meanderings or the trill of birdsong which provides the only soundtrack you really need, Woodlands restores the soul (as evidenced by the number of people who are there on any given day) and reaffirms why I love this country so much.Thank you Team Woodlands for an amazing array of caches

Well, what can I say about this series other than when I found my first just over 8 years ago to getting the final today (haven't got all 100 yet, still got 7 to go - a couple of old DNFs and the far south eastern corner to go!). Today was probably the 7th or 8th time I have come here (mostly with Team_Roberts1!) and it has been a source of great caching times doing it in small chunks. I found the last clue required this morning so went the extra distance to hunt this one. The cache was a quick find. So a huge thanks to the catchers behind team woodlands for the series and the ongoing maintenance required! Even today you were out there and one of the DNFs I logged on Monday was turned into a smiley with a shiny new cache.

Woohoo great fun

About three years of searching done and dustedTFTC

A nice place to rest our feet and catch a few more roos hopping by. Tftc!

Woopsies! Don't mind the last response, logged the wrong cache xP

27-Dec-23
I'm sort of finshed for the series. I have one multi and a couple of DNFs to complete, but I was happy to snag the final today. Most of the caches were fast finds, with a few out of place thanks to oddballs or birds. The most memorable was the cache shoved vertically into some rocks! Way to replace as you found it! Thanks for the ongoing maintenance of the series and for keeping it going for so many years. Woodlands is a fantastic place for a walk (or ride), with plenty of wooded and open areas. I saw heaps of roos, birds and a few lizards.

Good find

20-Nov-23
Had our first trip to Woodlands September last year. Today was our fourth time there hoping to get the last group. We did have to turn back early, leaving two and there are three we somehow missed on the other side of the park! We will definitely be back to get the 5 caches we missed and the 1 DNF we logged on our first trip.Fantastic time grabbing all these caches, getting lost, seeing lizards and many many kangaroos. Thank you Team Woodlands for this fantastic series to complete!

Secound mystery cache find I normally don't do mystery caches or multi caches I hate them a puzzle cache is to hard for me... Anyways thank you for setting this cache up Team Woodlands Keep up the work with your owner maintainance

01-Oct-23
Coordinates were spot on! We were a little worried about snakes making our way over to this one - but thrilled to tick it off the list. Thanks woodlands for the adventure

29-Sep-23
Well we finally did it. All 100 caches logged. It took 4 visits, many scratches and bloody boo boos, amazing views and lots of wildlife. Throw in a number of planes that I felt were going to land on my head. What an amazing place this is. Thank you for bringing us here, and for maintaining the caches making it possible for me to revisit 2 DNFs once they were replaced. I would never have experienced so much without this series.

10-Aug-23
Got the corodenents thanks to the lovely owner of these geocaches once I'm back in woodlands I can't wait to do this cache!

23-Jul-23
I was so tired and sore last night that I forgot to say a big Thank You for this great series, that has been well maintained for almost 12 years now. I was at two events today and found out a number of COs that are part of the Woodlands Team. All the ones I did yesterday had newish log books and only 3 did not have pencils. (I still kept going for the pen in my pocket every time, out of habit. You spoilt the new cachers. I still have to come back to do the last five.

22-Jul-23
I started this series 11 years ago. I would have finished it if it wasn't for the locked fenced off area. At least, I am more tech and cache savvy, so I was able to do 35 today, including this one. I remembered to note the clues this time in a safer way. I had to move the car out of the park after i spotted a note from Ranger Matt. And let my friend know I had made it. The gate was closed but not locked. This cache was solved and located the cache container at 5:07pm. 6hrs, 35 caches, 18km, and some sore toes.

My kids and hubby are at two different camps with Scouts. I set myself a goal to complete this series so I could sign off a Challenge cache of 100 caches owned by one CO. Unfortunately, five are behind a locked, fenced off area for Eastern Barred Bandicoot. It was an amazing day with the weather being perfect. I started at 11am & finished at 5pm. Big day!!

18-Jun-23
Wow what a day! It was quite an epic adventure and thank you for Team TACKT for inviting me along for the day! Congratulations to the team on all the milestones along the way and for Team Woodlands for maintaining such a wonderful series of caches (and I must admit we commented more than once about how nice it is the pencils are always sharp!) A wonderful day out and will be coming back to pick up the ones in the back paddock soon!

18-Jun-23
What an epic day Team TACKT had Jaamc-3335, Nyochi,cazzajane07 and myself set off at dawn with our mind set on completing this series, yes i can hear your scoffing and you are right, half way around we knew we had bitten off more than we should have, it was a blessing in disguises when the back paddock was locked as it took the pressure off.
After we stopped for lunch and admired the view are game plan changed to just make it back to the car and hopefully get all the clues we needed to get the mystery cache, dragging our feet it didn’t stop our laughing and joking and you can imagine the cheering when we found the final clue, the puzzle solved we headed directly in that direction picking up some final caches on the way.
Some milestone achieved cazzajane07 100th, jaamc-3335 1000th, Nyochi 1800th, and my 1300th cache all found doing this series.
Thanks for the awesome day, one we will talk about for years

18-Jun-23
Out and about with Team T.A.C.K.T including Jaamc, Kpatt and tag along cazzajane07. We had a goal to tackle this series to help cover milestones for some of our members, 69 caches down, 20km of park explored and we had a blast, there was laughter, tears, the occasional swear as we took on the long hike and we all had a fantastic day out with the team :3

We had a great full day of adventure, we didnt get to do the bandicoot section caches since it was locked but that gives us a reason to come back. We had Jaamc's 1000th cache and also celebrated cazzajane's 100th cache! Thankyou for setting out these caches, its a great effort and the fact that you keep them well maintained helps keep the game fresh and enjoyable.
It was such a big day and we as a team had a great time out together. Every time we found a clue, i think the whole park could hear us cheer out Very Happy, even when Jaamc managed to impale her leg with the worlds biggest splinter we were still laughing and enjoying the day.

18-Jun-23
WOW!!! That was an epic day. We started our day at 6AM and walked around 30,000+ steps. By the time the final co-ordinates were entered, we were dragging our feet. I along the way managed to get the world's biggest splinter embedded in my leg. Anywho's what an adventure we had, roos a plenty, caches, planes, views. A favorite day for me, even though I will be aching all over tomorrow. Thanks Team_Woodlands for the challenge.

25-May-23
A lovely day to wander around the woodlands with very pleasant company of moonbi. Far too many caches to find in a fay at a relaxed pace but found all but 2 of those that were attempted Collected some clues as we went Thanks Team Woodlands for such a huge effort in placing so many caches for us to enjoy

23-May-23
Haven't completed the 100 caches yet. But have found the final. Will let you know when all 100 are done.
Au Fait was keeping record of the clues along the way. By this stage we were on shanks pony! Au Fait and I had a lovely walk doing the caches then back to the homestead for the loo.
Thanks for the caches Team_Woodlands.

11-May-23
Loaded up the deadly treadly and headed off for another few hours at Woodlands.
Completed a small loop starting at the southern car park, and doing several eastern caches.

I had enough numbers to work out the final (although I still have not finished all the caches)
Grabbed the TB from here.
Thanks, Robmc.

04-Jan-23
Started this series on 11/6/21 and during the various covid restrictions, visited when it was legal to do so. Hats off to those who complete it in one or two visits, they must have much more stamina than me. But talking of stamina, the prize goes to the Woodlands Team for setting this fabulous series and keeping it in tip-top condition. Many, many thanks to all involved. The series has kept my mental health on balance over various visits, it's teased my dog (who loves racing after roos but being on lead, did get used to not being able to do so and by today almost ignored them!). I found a new fairly local place to walk in nature and got so much exercise and fresh air. Today was just clearing up a few that had been missed on the outskirts and 2 DNFs, but I didn't get one of the required numbers until a find today, so this is now finished, yippee. Pickup up a TB too and visited two others.

03-Jan-23
Thanks so much for this series of caches, we have loved doing them. Got our cache numbers up and our daily steps up. Took us 3 visits to do 85 of the 100. The first 2 days it was 37 degrees plus. Today was a far more civilized temperature at only 22, walked 13km today. Hope we’ll have time before leaving Melbourne to complete them all.

Gave this last one a favorite

Find No. 3960. Found with FUF009.

A day trip down to do the Woodland series of caches.
Took our bicycles and FUF009 came with us.
Arrived at the gate, unloaded our bikes, had a cuppa and off we went getting our first cache at 8.55am.
We worked our way through the series stopping several times to watch the coming and going of the jets at Tullamarine.
After a long warm day with several challenges, we arrived back at the car park for a rest and well earned cuppa.
We put the clues together, punched in the co-ords and went and claimed the final cache of the series.

Like FUF009 said in his logs, that this series has been on our list for quite some time to do but our plans kept getting interrupted with other things. Now we can finally say that we have done and completed the Woodland series all within one day, which we planned on doing today.
We had a few short stops along the way enjoying the views and watching the kangaroos.
We also struck it lucky with the back paddock being open.

After getting this final cache in the series we then done three more close by ones and spent longer than we expected at 'Heads Up' watching the planes come in one by one.

Finally we had to head for home. A long day leaving just before 6.00am and arriving home at 9.30pm but a day well worth spent and one we won't forget, especially being on the last day of the year. for 2022.

TFTC and for the Series.

Find # 11506

Found with Tyred n Cranky.

Well this has been a long time coming, to do the Woodlands caches. Many a plan has fallen through due to health and pandemic and work issues. But finally all was on our side for a cracker geocaching day to end 2022.

With bikes loaded up we were off, left St.Arnaud just before 6am and had the first cache signed at 8.55am. Then it was just one by one, following the GPSr.

From flowing trails to bush bashing (with and without tall grass) and even a bit of water, we had a lot. All the while the sounds of planes going overhead, birds around and the odd 100 roos thumping the ground when we disturbed them.

We managed to make good time and accomplish all we set out to do. Despite the heat and a couple of hills I had to walk up.

We believe luck was on our side with the back paddock being opened, after seeing so many had commented on it being shut.

All in All, personally, it was great to finally get this series done with a couple others thrown in that are in the park.

Oh and by the way, we got back home just after 9.30pm. A big days outing.

With all 99 found and clues in hand we got back to the car park for well earned coffee and snack, worked out GZ and headed off. For the final on this series.
All caches in series were in good order. Smile

GPS out I somehow managed to approach from the wrong side. Last cachecfor the afternoon before a well, earned rest.

17-Dec-22
We drove down to the Big Smoke, dropped mum off at the airport, and signed our first Woodlands cache for the day at 9:50am. Razz

Parking close to #55, catnap777 and I pulled out the pushies and we were off and racing for the rest of the day until we were signing our last one while watching the sun dip beneath the horizon from the highest point in the park. Twisted
By the end of our day, we had put our names into another 48 caches in this series including this final (+4 others giving us 52 finds for the day) leaving only those behind the catproof fence left for us to find in the Woodlands on another day when Parks Victoria eventually unlock the double gates. [^]
We even got to rectify the couple of DNFs from our earlier visit finding those caches that had since been replaced thanks to prompt maintenance.Smile

All caches were found or returned in good condition with dry logs and sharp pencils.

Cache found and log signed with dalerious Razz.

After dropping Cybergran V off at the airport early this morning for her Christmas family get together in Brisbane, dalerious and I headed to Woodlands with our bikes Big Grin.

We had 2 missions that we planned to undertake on this glorious summer's day Cool.
One was to sign every top 500 visited cache here, and most importantly, we promised a dear friend that we would do some maintenance here, as well.
Unfortunately, the latter didn't happen due to locked gates in the "back paddock" Twisted.

We got all but one top 500 signed for the day, as well as some quality caches dotted here and there which we signed on our journey.
53 quality caches signed Cool.

The pièce de résistance being this final Big Grin.

We only had one letter to find to get us to gz of the final.
We came across so many of the same letters, but it took so long to finally come across the one we were waiting for. "K", how fitting.
Another cache, could it be in this one? I said to dalerious, I betya it's in this one. Bingo Cool.

This series has been awesome to undertake. The grounds are beautiful to wander around. There are lovely spots for a picnic. Some lovely ruins to sit by and reflect of days past; watching the present constantly taking off and landing in this hectic world we live in.

I personally hark to the past and wonder what it was like back then. I think I look for peace in the past; much too noisy, these modern times.

We have left a special travelbug in this cache, as dalerious and I thought it was fitting to leave it here. It is a mystery travelbug, and we brought it over to the mainland from our trip to Tasmania. We hope whoever takes it, will also place it in a mystery cache where it belongs Big Grin.

A special thank you to Posums Big Grin. We will get back here and get that maintenance done for you, friend.
Thank you for an awesome series.
All the caches we visited today were in excellent condition.
Favourite given Big Grin.

*Found on the 22 Sep 2022 @ 2:43 pm.*
*Cache find # 13331.*

About and about with biggles1024 trying to see how many of the Woodlands 100 we can find.
This series has been on the to do list since it was published and for one reason or another we just haven’t made it out here.
Today was the day that we finally decided to give this series a crack but the day did not start off well as we planned to do this series by bike, I loaded my bike into the car last night checking the tyres before hand and adding a little bit of air and everything was good.
We arrived at the car park this morning and was about to get my bike out when I noticed the front tire had no air so some repairs were made but ended up not working as there was a fault in the tube so we headed off on foot which made the going a little slower.
I did a loop around and through the back paddock as the gate was unlocked, I ended up finding 63 of these woodlands caches including this one as we managed to find all the needed clues plus 2 DNF’s and an old cache which is always good before we ended up calling it a day as the legs were getting a little tired, so in the end it was a good day of finds.
As there are more of this series to find we will need to return to finish this series off.

**Thanks to Team_Woodlands for placing this cache.**

**22/09/2022, 14:41:00**
**Find #4903**
**Mystery Find #920**

SteMicMitSar and I have been wanting to do this series since it was published but couldn't make it happen for a variety of reasons. That changed today. All but two caches were found by us and the log stamped or signed. Lots of wildlife spotted amid the roar of jet engines from Melbourne Airport.
Although we haven't found all of the caches in this series, we managed to find all of the clues which allowed us to calculate the co-ords for this final which was found without too much trouble.
Steve and I split up for the last few finds because I am not in the best shape and was really struggling. I cycled my way to a few caches and then waited for Steve who was on foot at his car. A few more finds followed on foot and then we called it a day. A favourite point for this series.

**Thank-you to Team_Woodlands for placing this geocache**

21-Sep-22
Our second visit to Woodlands to collect some more caches, this time we took the geo-pup.
We had enough clues up our sleeve to work out where this final cache was hiding, so grabbed it on the way back to the car.
Cache 26 of 26 for the day after a 9 kilometre walk. We'll be back again at some point to finish the remaining 42.

03-Aug-22
We have been chipping away at this series over the last few years and have thoroughly enjoyed each and every cache we have found in this park. Unfortunately the back paddock was locked today as we really wanted to finish this series today. Nevertheless, we will be back once it opens again to pick up the remaining caches. We had found enough to calculate the final location and decided to collect this today. Thank you Team_Woodlands for placing and maintaining Woodlands 100 - Final for us to find today. A favourite point has been awarded.

Find # 1258.

12-Jul-22
We first visited Woodlands more than four years ago and commenced working our way through this series of cache. Today was our third visit and we had hoped to complete the remaining caches in the series. Unfortunately we will need a fourth visit as the back paddock enclosure was locked and we were unable to visit a further 10 caches in the series that were in the secured section.
We did however have enough information gathered (only one missing was G) to be able to give the final a red hot go.
We were rewarded with the final cache and added our name to the logbook.
A big thank you to Team Woodlands for creating and maintaining this wonderful series.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed each visit.

07-May-22
First of all thanks for this great series. I had a great few days caching and exploring the historic site. My legs are sore but I’m satisfied with the fun times I had. Great to see woodland areas like this still exist so close to the city and not turned into housing estates. All the caches were in great condition, only one DNF. Thanks again for boosting my catch rate, these 100 will help me with my goal of 365 per year. TFTC

28-Apr-22
What a relief found despite leaving g value at home from other day - made a memory guess which paid off.
This series is the best - I have loved every bit of it, even the red backs, falling off my bike, bitten by a gazillion mosquitos, getting lost - twice
I have learnt so much, loved being on my bike and doing something so fabulous on LSL.
Team_Woodlands, thank you so much for this amazing series. I’ve had a blast

07-Jan-22
I started this series late last year and was determined not to leave it too long to complete it. Today was perfect, not too hot, not too cold and quite dull so no glaring sun to make the screen hard to see. This is an excellent series in a beautiful bush setting not far from the city. If grass seeds where gold my socks would be rich!

06-Dec-21
The bandicoot enclosure is once again out of bounds.
To make the trip worthwhile I decided to claim the final cache, which is located outside of the back paddock.
Thanks for the cache and the series Team Woodlands.

17-Nov-21
After completing over half the series on Sunday I was able to have enough clues to calculate the coordinates. Today I was back in Melbourne so due to peak hour on the Metropolitan Ring Road and Hume Highway I decided to take a detour around Tullamarine Airport, that put me near gz so I quickly parked, jumped out of the car, thru a fence and soon had the cache in hand. Delighted to find a pathtag. TFTC and this entire series which I'll def be back to complete one day.

23-Oct-21
Over the space of 4 trips collected the 100! Thanks for the series, it was great fun!!!!
Nice easy final find with not much room left for goodies!

03-Oct-21
After doing a complete maintenance run on the series I checked on this one today.
Cache is in good condition so all good to go for the cachers who collect all of the clues.

07-Sep-21
We have been unable to complete the series so far with the back paddock locked again due to a fox. We were however able to grab all the clues in able to get to the final so this is sadly just a partial log as we found it and signed the log but I will do a full detailed log after we complete our adventure!

Thank you for the series. It was a very enjoyable and leisurely stroll over six weeks, finding every cache and visiting new parts of this wonderful park that I would not have come upon otherwise.

28-Dec-20
What a day! I'd had my eye on this series for several years as a way to achieve 100 caches in a day. Needed to wait for the right time of year when the days were long enough, and decent weather (no rain, not too hot, not too cold). This year was the year.

I had my trusty companions __Cat__ and Snivelbert along with me and our initial plan was to start at 7am. On reflection, we thought that surely it can't be much more than 20km and at 4 or 5 km an hour, we would have plenty of time, so we adjusted our start time to 8am and in the end, set off at around 8:30. Well we clearly did not factor in the extra time that finding the caches takes because in the end it took us almost exactly 12 hours to do the full 100 in the series, staggering back to the cars, weary and sore (but triumphant) at 8:30pm . I wouldn't have wanted to finish up any later than that.

For info, we were able to refill our water bottles about half way through the day with a drinking fountain at Weeroona Cemetery, which we were very grateful for. We also had to be careful with battery life, as we almost completely used up 2 portable batteries (although admittedly mine is not very effective).

An excellent series, well structured and well maintained with mostly fresh clean logs and brand new pencils! (We got lucky coming in after a recent maintenance run). We only had 2 DNFs, which I have indicated, and one location at which we found two caches (also indicated). We were able to make up 100 by finding 2 other caches along the way. All logs were signed as DCS to represent diana8, __Cat__ and Snivelbert.

Thanks for a great series, and providing the opportunity for 100 in a day and a spectacular day out!

Thank You very much Team Woodlands! Never have been out to Woodlands before and through it would be a great day out hiking for the day. We had done lots of research during lock down and planned to get out as soon as we could once the restrictions lifted.

Reading up on the Parks VIC site and noticed that it is so far away from any public transport as we are lacking a geocar at preset. Are some further research of the trail, there is access from Mickleham Rd, and via a tram, train and bus, plus a walk from the bus stop we could get here.

Thought we were well planned with a 7:15am start in the morning. Geohubby decided to water the plants prior to leaving as it was supposed to be a tho day. Missed the tram, got the next, but missed the train from the stop of the escalators Sad. Being an early Sunday morning train it was a 40 minute wait for the next. Very tempted to get on the Lilydale/Belgrave train instead. We decided to get further supplies and coffee. Luck had it when we arrived at Broadmeddows the bus was arriving and managed to get it (otherwise other long wait).

We arrived at Woodlands after walk, found some caches then walk up Gellibrand Hill. Slightly overcast was nice, but once we got to the look out we were blown away literally and figuratively speaking. Such a nice view of hte airport and the city!

We did take a lot of time on the multicache here as we couldn't find it. The next 2 traditional were also challenging. If it took this amount of time for the trail we were in a bit of trouble. However the following caches were a lot more straight forward. The grass at points were quiet long, but took lots of precautions and the long way aroudn where needed. WE really enjoyed getting out here and barely saw people all day, and after lockdown, getting out in nature was what was needed.

Animals we saw lots from Kangaroo mobs, lots of birds, dragon flys, and lots of butterflies. We saw some of the legends including Apache Cat and Price of Presence.

The weather was typical Melbourne- Overcast, then some rain, gail force winds and a little wary of the branch droppers, then blue skies and straight heat!. Rinse and repeat 4 -5 times through out the day. Finished Late, and hot home after 9pm.

Thank you very much for this trail, and this is what we really love about Geocaching- seeing new places, and getting out and about (with the trill of the hunt and purpose!) Sorry the log is a little late as we wanted to put time and effort into this one, and was too tired and maybe too much Sun by the end.

Checked and all good to go.

All of the caches in the Woodlands 100 series are being disabled due to the current crisis.
Some of the caches need maint and won’t be attended to till the conditions are right to head back into the park.
So everybody stay safe and start solving puzzles for when we can all head out.
Thanks
Team Woodlands.

A while a go I had a big day out at Woodlands but as I was on foot, I didn't make it around the 100. Today I headed back to look for the remaining caches (again on foot), but unfortunately the enclosure was closed. I'll have to come back again. The good news was I got all the numbers I needed for the final, which was found with no problems. Thanks for all of the caches. A FP is awarded for the series.

**Find #3176**

Living Close to Woodlands I have Visited here many times, picking off a cache or 2 with each visit. Using this series to fill in "Found By Day" Finds, and other various caching needs. I have enjoyed caching with my Grandsons and the Geo-dogs on many occasions, And they together with myself give a BIG thank you for the series and keeping it maintained. I had solved the final co-ords a year earlier but was saving it for a special occasion, and that was going to be 29th FEB 2020. An easy Favorite Point.

Thanks **Team_Woodlands**

Found with Jane_h while doing some of the Woodlands trail on our MTB's enjoying a nice cool day today.  TFTC. Team woodlands. we enjoyed coming out here for these caches. We managed to get enough clues to log this one. But we still have more to collect in this series. Thanks for maintaining this series for us to get smilies.

YAT Woodlands 100 series completed... over 2 days...

Got a call from BackPAQer asking if I wanted to head out and do some caching, let's finish the woodlands series he says... what an awesome idea, we started the series just over a year ago and completed sixty nine in woodlands out of the one hundred and ten total caches in the park.
So BackPAQer rocks up at 8am and we load the bikes and head out for the day. Weather is perfect at twenty Celsius and overcast with the sunny shining through every so often and such a light breeze. I had not taken the bike out until the previous time we attempted this series.

Well it was a highly successful day as we managed to complete the woodlands one hundred series even find the previous did not find cache. We worked out the multi in woodlands as well and solved the mystery. A hundred percent success rate for today.

Also left a travel bug in number one hundred the mystery.

Sorry this log is generic for all finds.

Thanks for the cache and the hide

Nice hide to close out the series. Thanks for the effort and the maintenance. This is an outstanding series and can't rate it highly enough. A fave point from me

Located in a lovely old guardian. Cache in good nick. Have completed most of the caches so far but having heaps of trouble locating the cache at Swain St entrance. Four tries but no love. Thank you for the series, it’s been a great introduction to caching

Have flown down to Melbourne from Sydney for a 2 week training course at the Melbourne Tullamarine Airport Air Traffic Control Centre, but my main interest will be in collecting as many Victorian (VK3 in HAM radio terms) caches as possible during my free time away from the workplace. My primary caching target areas will be the Woodlands Historic Park (with it’s 100 plus caches), the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail, the Outer Circle Railway Trail, the Donaldson’s Creek Trail, the Ruffey Creek Trail, Eltham (Diamond Valley Railway), and the suburbs surrounding my Essendon apartment. This was the 83rd of 85 finds for the day, and the 166th of 242 finds for the trip.

With only one weekend available to me for private activities (between the two weeks of training) I planned to make the most of it with some serious caching activities lined up for both days. Today (Saturday) was to be the biggest day with a serious attempt at completing the mammoth "Woodlands 100" cache powertrail located around Historic Woodlands Park, which I had started doing on my Melbourne arrival day last Sunday.

Well what can I say, just a brilliant series. Loved every minute of my time here in historic Woodlands Park, and was so pleased to be able to have found 99% of the caches (only 1 DNF at #75). Such a diverse landscape to be experienced throughout the park, and this cache series makes sure the cacher gets to see as much of that diversity as possible.

After completing all of the (traditionaly placed) caches in the series I put the collected clues together and came up with a final GZ for this final Mystery cache and, after grabbing a few other caches scattered around the perimeter of Woodlands Park, I headed to final GZ to hopefully claim the grand prize of Woodlands Cache #100. At final GZ the hide was quickly uncovered and I had CIH. Stamped & signed the logbook, TNLN, and then replaced as found.

Thanks so much Team_Woodlands for the huge effort that you guys must have gone to in placing & maintaining so many caches, and providing interesting historical or otherwise information for each and every one of them, and thus producing a wonderful series that every visitor to Melbourne should have on their caching "must do" list. I'll certainly be recomending it to the Sydney cachers if they find themselves down this way. And needless to say it's a big Favourite point from me.

All the caches in this series were found expect the ones in the back paddock, a nice bike ride around the reserve, all the caches are in good condition

Today was a big day again of caching, making my way from Adelaide to Tasmania. Today I started in Ballarat and headed into Melbourne, woodland reserve was on the cards and the aim was to finish it off, unfortunately the bottom paddock was closed so I’ll be back once again. Overall 78 caches for the day.

This cache had been over a year in the making. Like a scene from Midsomer Murders I cycled past nature photographers, bushwalkers, horse riders, cars, and mischievous children. It was all too surreal.

Thank you Team_Woodlands for placing this series and your help along the way. To have a 100 caches all with sharp pencils and dry logs in them is truly amazing. Such a well maintained cache trail in a lovely area. This would (and still does I think) take a lot of effort to maintain. It really is a most memorable cache series that I thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you again Smile

Firstly a favourite point for this series. This was the third and final visit to find all the caches here. For my birthday I told it was my day and I could choose to do what I wanted to do. So I chose to finish this series. I have loved coming here, the big old fat trees have been amazing. The planes frequently flying over has been awesome and a show stopper - every time. On the week end I bought my son and his family to this park and they really enjoyed it and look forward to coming back. Thank you to the CO for assisting us with adjusting our coordinates on this final cache as we had lost all our notes from the previous visits. A great series, family friendly, well maintained and a great day out. Thanks again

Another day and with a welcome cool change I thoght it wise to get some exercise in. So I set off for the balance of the Woodlands series including the final and then onto clean up the balance of another series, Walkies down in Oak Park.
Most caches were found with only a couple eluding my gaze. Thanks to nirgalagrin for the company on the Walkies series.

Amazing series! Thank you so much for the time and effort that went into this.
We did the series on bikes and found the back 50 more bike friendly that the start. We didnt do one small section due to it being closed off but we may come back to do this when it reopens late november.
Thanks again, it was a great couple of days.

With lisyb. Completed this series as best we could over two days on bikes. Today we missed caches 70-78 due to one of the areas being locked.
Couldn't find cache 89 today, found where we thought it should be but it wasn't there. Also missed cache 24 the first time round as it was confirmed missing by the owner. We still had enough clues to find cache 100 though
We will be back at some point to get those last remaining ones to finish off the series.
This is a great area with so many different paths & tracks, some more bike friendly than others.
We saw so many animals over both days, & today we stopped at the homestead for some afternoon tea, homemade style scones with jam & cream!
Thanks for all your effort with this series, you can see how much work has been put in to it & it's much appreciated

Back in the area today to finally get that one last smiley. I have enjoyed my trips to the Woodlands over the past few years. What a great series and worthy of a favourite point. Thanks for all your time and effort in putting this series together.

**Thanks to Team_Woodlands for placing this cache.**

Back Paddock is open again.

Just a note to let cachers know that the "Back Paddock" is closed at the moment until further notice. Parks Victoria are baiting for foxes. This makes 19 caches that are inaccessible.

(Theskype did the hard work deciphering this Multi cache). Me and TheSkype had driven from Canberra to Victoria to do some series, and after completing the huge Dads Mt Disappointment series near Wallan we decided to drive deeper into Melbourne and complete the woodlands series. I expected the woodlands to be lush and green, but soon discovered it ain't the Dandenong ranges. The woodlands was quite a large area and after this series I definitely can say i saw most of its vast diversity . This series was very enjoyable with very precise co-ordinates but not for the faint hearted and after 2 days we completed the series bar 1 or 2. Thanks for the series, one for the bucket list. TFTC. #2844 Found at 2:30pm with the Green-martian, both here from Canberra, after several days of caching in Victoria. The weather was unusually warm for April, so this series was perfect. On foot, it was very long, at 11 hours or so, over 2 days, but the Green-martian kept me going. Thanks for the series Team_Woodlands. I would never had seen these neck of the woods otherwise. Hardest to find claiming a DNF was GC367K8, and GC35X3R.

It is time for me to come back here to finally do the last 20. Again it has been a lovely walks around. It did take me heaps longer than I planed it to take me. I end up been here for 4 hours. I am so happy to put this in my finished pile. Thank you for laying the awesome series and all of the work that goes into maintaining the caches. This was always going to get fav points:-)

Well this has been a really long time coming... maybe three years since we first started our first leg of the Woodlands park series. I cannot say more than I did in our first two days of logs, other than we loved coming back today to tackle one special last mystery - Woodlands 100 - Final. It turns out that we were SO close last time we were here, but after a full day and with the weather packing in, we just didn't trust our guessed coordinates... we should have. Fast forward to this morning, and the decision was made for our first New Years 2018 cache to be this one. Wonderful series, we will give a fav point to this cache once we earn some. THANK YOU TEAM_WOODLANDS the maintenance on this series must be incredibly hard work.

I'd heard good things about this reserve and was in the mood for a new venue for a day-long walk. I know this part of Melbourne hardly at all! "And I might even find some caches along the way," I thought to myself. I found a little less than half of the series today, between arriving on foot via Jacana station around 9-ish and early afternoon. I had enough information to determine the location of this one by then. I changed course and made picking it up top priority, and then beyond that point visited a mere smattering of further bits and pieces that piqued my interest.

I dropped a trackable ["Montana On Our Minds" Travel Bug] here, seeing as I'd seen so few non-micros otherwise. I usually favour a trad for this purpose but this one is fairly frequently visited as far as mysteries go. It shouldn't languish toooo long, I'm thinking.

Thanks Team Woodlands! At some point I'll have to find a way to log the traditional caches themselves!

Thanks for a great series, we managed to find all 100 plus a few extras while in the park. We loved the area and the history along the way, thoroughly enjoying our time a total of 10hrs 14min spent over 33.67km. We did this over 3 days having only a few hours per day to fit in caching maybe we could have moved a bit quicker if C1 wasn't so fascinated with the aircraft overhead. We live in the country however have never seen as many kangaroos as we saw whilst in this park every time you turn there is another mob wondering what you are doing?? We managed to find one that had been lost for a while and a couple of others which were found on the ground, near their hide (perhaps by curious animals).

Have attached one of our favourite sites on the walk.

After many trips out of Tullamarine airport, heading home, I had looked at this woodlands series on my iPhone app, and hoped that one day there would be the opportunity to get out on these trails. This week, after finishing work in Melbourne, we were gifted with 2 free days to attempt the trail. We stayed overnight in a nearby hotel and the plan was to attempt all the caches and a few extras over 2 days.

By the time we got going on the first day, it was close to midday, and we managed about 35 of the caches. We did waste some time as we were not doing them in chronological order, and at one stage found ourselves on the inside of the park, close to the airport, when we should have been on the other side of the fence. A detour of around 1 km and back soon had this sorted.

Day 2 had us up much earlier and we made a start at 9am, finishing all the caches by 4pm. Sadly, we will need to come back to wander inside the homestead, as time was not on our side, and we had a plane to catch.

All-in-all, there were just two DNFs today, numbers 81 and 87. I love how the important information for the final cache "Woodlands 100" has the information doubled up in a few caches along the way in case it gets missed.

Team_ Woodlands have put together a really great series in the Woodlands. Each cache was dry and having containers of similar shapes and sizes made it easier in each location to make the find. Each cache is in a beautiful area, and many secrets of the park are revealed through the cache locations. The hints were helpful too, in allowing us to move quickly through the trails.

The trails take the cacher to some of the most beautiful areas. There is history, natural beauty, lots of birds (we didn't see any bandicoots), great views towards Melbourne and the airport, and an abundance of woodland trees. It is also lovely to see the care that is being taken to help regenerate this area.

Thanks Team_Woodlands for the enormous effort you have gone to in placing and maintaining this series. It was definitely worth changing our flights and staying the 2 extra days!

A favourite for sure!

Our goal was to conquer the Woodlands 100 in two days on foot, staying overnight at a nearby bed and breakfast.

Day one we walked 16.6km, 11.30am-5.15pm
Day two we walked 17.9km, 9.30am-10.30am (we drove around to do Jellibrand Hill on second morning) and then 11am-5.30pm.
34.5km in all.

Water wise we used 3ltrs out of 4lts on day one, and 2.5lts out of 4lts on day two. This was for 2 people on a 15 degree day. We judge you need at least 4 lts per person per day in higher temperatures (maybe more).

Some of these paths had sharp stones and others were in areas where snakes, bullants and other creatures love hanging out. Our shoes were soft soled and not only got damp from dew, but weren't very good protection. They and our feet survived though.

We used a pen, paper and clip board method to record our finds and notes. Along with a printed and numbered map/screenshot of the cache locations, and paths. This was ultra useful. Saving battery life, precious time; and reception wasn't too much of an issue.

All in all we found 99/100 woodlands caches (one GZ with two caches?!) plus another 6 caches in the area. That's 105 finds in two days. Our best efforts ever! Especially on foot! We also reached our 600 finds milestone.

This park was an absolute pleasure to explore! The scenery was amazing and there was so much change in the areas we tramped through. The wildlife was abundant, and there were plenty of surprises. The proximity to the airport offered us something a bit different to other parkland caching adventures! Thank you to Team_Woodlands for all this effort! Of course a favourite point for the series!!

Found it, Thank you!

Super day with the mad men from Tassie
And now we are here ..... RAINS !!.. and HEAVY RAINS ....
Lol. Sums up our day of challenges.

Well with it being a 34 degree day we set off from the picnic car park with Nanny and Grandad from Uk. With plenty of water and snacks for the trip. We had done quite a few in this series and wanted to show N & G the beautiful trees. We soon discovered that it really was too hot and we were best to find the Homestead fir refreshments. Due to Snakes and kangas we were unable to take the direct route and through the blazing sun we had to take a huge detour. we finally arrived at the homestead. Well the hospitality was amazing. So friendly. We filled up on scones iced coffee and water. Nanny and geo Paige stayed behind to play cards whilst Grandad Lishy and I took the easier route to pick up car. Icecream at the plane lookout just up the road fixed us up nicely. Unfortunately caching was not happening today but it was an adventure. We'll be back again soon just to enjoy the scones!!!

Having found about 60% of this series we had the information we needed to work out where the finals was, we ended up finding this in a thunder storm so we all got soaked, thanks very much for a great day out in this park, i'll have to come back sometime to finish it off, maybe on foot next time.

Today was to be a number run riding bikes provided by Toolman around the park in the hope of collecting all the Woodlands series, well for the first 25 caches we were on target, but a puncture put payed to our big plans and even with toolman driving off to get some spare inner tubes we all know that we are never going to get all the caches done today, so we changed our plans and rather than rushing round we stopped to enjoy the park more and as luck would have it we found everything we needed to work out the final for the series without finding all the caches.

My caching buddy Goose of GooseandEgg had been badgering me to do a trip to Melbourne for awhile now to just do a caching weekend. Well one Friday afternoon I caved in and we started our plans for weekend caching on the mainland.
With so many caches to choose from we spent a fare bit of time coming up with a shortlist, in the end it was a mix of old caches, puzzles and a bit of a numbers run.
Well all our plans went out the window while we were over for our weekend but due to good caching friends we had a great time doing our plan B.

It was a great weekend and my thanks goes out to all the CO's who have placed the caches we searched for, Goose for talking me into it and our other halves for putting up with our madness.

I feel a bit of a cheat logging this cache without completing the series, but I do so legitimately as we found all the required information to lead us here. Along with stainless-steel-rat and 1TOOLMAN we completed about 60 caches today but considering the amount of time lost due to a puncture and the lazing around on top of Gellibrand Hill we were happy with the result.

This was a wonderful day of geocaching with two good friends. Michael went out of his way to help Andy and me with this adventure and could not have attempted it without him.

The amount of wildlife was incredible, especially the number of 'roos. The views were spectacular and I especially loved some of the old gnarly and twisted trees. Their shapes showed their struggle for survival in our harsh climate. Unlike some, I assume, I enjoyed the overhead aircraft too. They are a big part of my world.

We had hot, hot weather out on the plains, nice shady forests, a cooling breeze up on the hill and a heavy downpour to test us at the end of the day. It was tough going for this desk jock despite taking every opportunity to get out and enjoy the outside world.

Thankyou Team Woodlands, I will be back to complete this series and enjoy this beautiful place, Just not sure when or who with.

Finally able to log the final which we missed last time! My log for the day:
What a day!

The Woodlands 100 has been on my 'to do' list for some time now, well for at least 4 years! Many times flying north out of Tulla I have looked out the window and thought 'I really need to get out there'.

Today I met with Adz from mel_adz and buhfuhguh (group name 'JAB') for an early start to tackle the series. The weather was looking a bit grey and overcast...perfect says I: Cool! Which remained the case till about midday - then the sun just plum came right out. She was a hot one too - real scorcher!

We covered all kinds of distance and terrain. Paths, paddocks, creek edges, rabbit tracks and just straight bush. We came across a whole heap of flaura and fauna, from memory - Kangaroos, Wallabies, Rabbits, Foxes, Jacky Dragons, Eagle, Gallahs, Ibis, Kokaburra, plus about 1000 spiders - which I came head to head with more times than I wish to remember, on the section making our way through the scrub, even the widest section between trees was just webs and webs!

We were feeling pretty good till about midday, then the count was on - the extras in the park really made it that extra bit tougher also. I drank 4 litres of water during the time, altho the boys finished their water a little earlier and were certainly feeling a bit parched. We finished the day successful - even if some number misplacement had us missing out on the final #100 - which we need to go back for despite seemingly riding right past it!

Thanks Team Woodlands for placing this series and maintaining, that's a huge effort you have gone to. Particularly highlighting something at nearly every GZ and covering nearly every aspect of info in the park.

After placing some photos up on Facebook my Aunty saw them and let me know my late Mum used to ride this park - making it an extra special place for me having very glad to have visited.

Thanks and Cheers - a massive fave for the whole series for me!

They told me it couldn't be done. "The woodlands 100 in a day, that's impossible" they said. So, I set out to prove them wrong. After 35km and 13 hours had passed, the deed was done and the final log was signed. What a day!

The day started with me dropping off another cacher at the airport for a different caching adventure. This was at 5am. I then sat in Mcdonalds at the airport and read the paper, waiting for the sun to rise. At the first sign of light, I jumped in the car and made my way to Woodlands.

The first 25 caches were no trouble at all, but while signing the log on the 25th cache I heard one of the tyres on my bike leaking air. I was all prepared, like a boy scout, so I had all the puncture repair kit with me - but it wasn't enough. I could have had a whole bicycle workshop in my backpack, nothing was fixing the two inch tear down the sidewall of my front tyre! So off the bike, and onto the shoelace express. First i dropped the bike at living legends, and then I had to walk over two Somerton road to grab the car, pick up the bike, and then drive in to Essendon to obtain a new tyre. That definitely wasn't part of the plan!

Once I was back at woodlands (and now over 2 hours behind schedule, it was back into it. The section around Gellibrand Hill and out the back of the Sanatorium was a grind. Hot, sunny, and hilly. It didnt help that this section i the middle. You're only at halfway, and it's hard. Quite a bit of off track navigation required, and lots of hills. I kept telling myself i'd only get to the next 10 and the stop, but the more I did, the easier it got.

Suddenly, I found myself on the way to the final! Signed and returned, I made my way back to the car. Hot, exhausted, sore, but satisfied. It was done, I'd seen parts of Woodlands I'd never seen before, and I took on the challenge and succeeded. Thanks for the adventure Team_Woodlands!

Favourite added for the entire series.

Found with Jacko83 and buhfuhguh (JAB).

What a fantastic series this was and thankyou! I met up with Greg and Michael to tackle this series...the first time I have gon out caching with someone who wasn't my normal caching mate from Sydney.

The terrain was tough in places, but seeing it changing throughout the park was absoluetly fantastic. We saw lots of birds, lizards and so many kangaroos it wasn't funny! But it was all really enjoyable. The only thing that killed us was the heat that turned up just after lunchtime. It went from a mild morning to a stinking hot day.

Thanks so much for a really enjoyable and well thought out series. It was fantastic and a fav point from me which is VERY well deserved!

Well what can I say but I along with Jacko83 and mel_adz today went and completed the the Woodlands 100 caches and any other caches that we could manage to get our hands on along the way. Not going to lie it was a great idea in theory but geez did I regret it a little, do not get me wrong it was an amazing day but just a little bit hard. My day started off at 3:30 getting ready to leave and drive to Frankston (Brekkie stop at maccas of course) to then park at Frankston Train Stain. Then the next leg of my journey was to catch public transport to Altona to meet up with Jacko83. Upon arriving at the park we met up with our fellow cacher who would accompany us on the journey mel_adz, to with we discussed what caches they had already done and for me to do all the caches they had already done and to then catch up to them. I did this fairly well with my music plugged in and playing I was off to start blitzing this trail. My first problem of the day was cache number 6....... it was nowhere to be found; I looked where I was told but nothing was there, after letting it be I moved on to which I stumbled upon the grass section of the journey. At this stage (not going to lie I got a bit lost). After finding my way back I bumped back into my caching companions for the day to discover that they had found the missing cache hidden with another member of the series. After saying that they picked it up just incase another one was missing the could place it there we continued to move on. With the weather being overcast we continued to smash them out without breaking a sweat. After encountering many vertebrate and invertebrate friends at cache 30 we decided to take a break and have a little snack, to where we then moved in to the back paddock. This area was and easy ride and we continue to power throught the caches.
**Then it happened at 12 o'clock** our good friend mr sun decided to show up and deliver us his burning warmth, this slowed us down a bit with each cache draining more and more energy for us to reach. With my water running low I knew I was going to have a fun next 50 finds. With the burning hot sun and lack of water I was starting to get a little irritable (sorry Greg and Adam) and the sass-o-meter was starting to go off the charts. But as we reached in the 90's I was saved......... it was as if the universe had bestowed upon my a gift to which i would cherish for life................. We rid our bikes past the rangers office (i figured they had some tap water). After sculling about 600-700ml I was full of energy and ready to smash out the last few caches.
After doing the last handful I realised that all the Woodlands caches we had found to that point were all there so the only one I was missing was number 6. I rode as fast as the wind to return the container to where it belongs and with that I had finished this beautiful series.
The journey through this park was amazing and I loved every second of it, I can honestly say I'm power trailed out for a little bit but I will aim to do another one soon.
Anyways that is it from me, Thank you so much for the chance to travel every nook and cranny of this reserve.

I'm over from New Zealand for 4 days to do some geocaching and to attend the Surf Coast Mega Event in Anglesea. After arriving around midnight I got some sleep at an Airport Hotel, then left early in the morning to undertake the Woodlands 100 Power Trail. I planned to do the whole trail by foot in one day, so I loaded up with supplies and set off on a long day of walking and caching! It was a lovely day weather wise and there was plenty of wildlife out around the park.

The majority of the caches were quick and easy finds, a couple did take a bit longer and my only DNF of the day was #31, so I ended up finding 99 of the 100 Woodlands caches and 104 caches overall - by far the most caches I have ever found in one day by foot!

No problems with finding the clues for the final, I found each clue 2 or 3 times throughout the trail (even finding a random clue that doesn't tie in with the puzzle?) I stopped for this cache on my way back to the car at the end of the day and made a quick find at GZ.

Other than the possibility that #31 might be missing, I have no other maintenance issues to report, the caches were all in good condition. A few may be suffering from cache creep and weren't quite in accordance with the hint, but they were still found OK.

Thanks for taking the time to put together this great series of caches - it was an enjoyable, but tiring, day out! Favourite point added!

Started this journey on the 29/09/2016 and today I finished the Woodlands 100 + a few extras on the way
A big thank you and shout out to Team Woodlands for first placing this series and the up keep of the caches
All the coordinates where spot on
Walking around this park was very enjoyable and after spotting kangaroos, swooping magpies, numerous lizards, bunnys and plenty of planes
Thanks again for getting me off my butt and letting me see Woodlands
Left a namesake in the cache

Wow, what a ride it has been. So good to have found this one. Technically I havent finished the series as I have 2 more to do down near the radar tower, but I thought I'd better log this one so I dont have to return to this area again. This series has taken me 3 years to do, starting in September 2013. But in about March 2014 I hurt my back so I had to leave the rest till I got better. Then in 2015 I did my sciatic nerve so I had to wait a bit longer. I tried again in Jan 2016 but as I could not find no. 17 I decided to get the rest once I'd found that. Well today was that day. I knocked off about 10 (including this one) and will get the last 2 hopefully within the next week.
Thanks HEAPS Team Woodlands for the hours and hours of time that has gone into this series, as well as the ongoing maintenance to keep them all going. It has been a unique experience travelling around this park. Some of the highlights include:
1. Being swooped by a magpie (though its not really a highlight)
2. Being freaked out countless times by the roar of a plane taking off
3. Being freaked out again when the planes fly directly above you

12 months ago today I found my first, it was my first visit here. Loved walking around the park over the last year, probably 7 or 8 visits in total. Great park with some amazing views, thanks for the series and for bringing me here.

What better way to find The final Woodlands 100 GC, than with the Geokid on Father's Day, and celebrated the find with a Devonshire Tea. This Woodlands 100 series has been an amazing adventure. Thank you so much for your efforts Team Woodlands Very Happy

(FP) Team Welsh and I had collected some of the necessary info and made an educated guess on the rest - and we were delighted to be right on target. T4tc

The caches we did here were the highlight of our visit to Melbourne for me. Got to the airport in the morning with Pagenz, left our baggage in storage and walked the 1km over to the park. Figured out how to can access and with being very conscious of having to make a flight home later on in the day we stuck to a route that we felt was best for the time we had available. Saw lots of kangaroos (novelty for a kiwi) and had a big walk before heading back. All the caches were in sensible places, spot on co-ords and even managed to figure out the final without all the required numbers. Huge thanks for all the cache placements. Loved every minute of it.

Very happy we could work this out without all the numbers, common sense prevailed here. Fav point from us on behalf of all that we managed to get done before our flight home.

Finally! we finished the series after a few visits over a 12 month period and after a massive walk around the area today starting around 8:30 am we finished our outstanding hides and found this last one around 3pm. Thanks Team Woodlands for the much needed walk and I could not recommend this series enough with plenty of variety of bushland and views, (plenty of planes to be spotted too!) co-ord's were spot on with all caches located with no DNF's (another added bonus). We will give this series a fave for the walk around this beautiful spot and for upkeep of cache containers and contents. Thanks for the series.

I completed this series with Happy Pants. We did about half of the series last year in bitterly cold conditions. Today we set out to complete the other half, this time the weather was more tolerable. This is a fantastic park, it is so diverse - flat areas and hills with brilliant lookouts. Open plains and dense bush. A couple of creeks, wildlife plus ruins and old fences showing the history of early settlement. Thoroughly enjoyable!! I wonder what the next chapter in this parks history will be? I was very impressed with the maintenance of the caches. Plus all coordinates were spot on. We started to stress when we got to the end of the series and did not have the K clue. Then we read the cache description and the info about K - to say we were relieved was an understatement. We crunched the numbers and headed to GZ. The cache was soon found and we left our mark. Thanks Team_Woodlands for an enjoyable and memorable series. A well deserved Fav Point from me.

Such a wonderful experience finding this series. It took us about 6 visits over 6 months to get them all but we loved coming and walking the beautiful park and finding the little caches along the way. Although there were 100 they were diverse and interesting enough to keep us busy hunting in all different spots. A big thank you to the team for setting up and maintaining the series and exposing geocachers to a unique and beautiful part of Victoria.
