Avoiding the thistle bushes allowed me to find this one quickly. Lots of kangaroos here rather than Rabbits. I had heard about and seen the Woodlands series whenever I came near the airport- but havent actually come to find any. Today, after a drop official, early- I decided to try some. It turned out to be almost 4 hour time covering 16 km of terrain. Just over 40 caches were found, with a few inaccessible due to the new fence. Thanks Team_Woodlands for a great trail. All but 2 ,I found today had useable sharpened pencils. Terrific - I was carrying a pen. Generic log but small comments each cache.
Quick find. Lovely peaceful day, no rain in sight, a great day for caching TFTC W074.
Checked on this one today.Changed the log.Sharpened the pencil. All good to go.
Back out hunting caches in this great reserve today with Team_Roberts1. Great weather and great to walk around gathering more of this great series. Not many to go now!Another quick find. Thanks to Team Woodlands again.
TFTC....another one that took us a little while, but we found it in the end - misinterpretation of the clue Happy to avail myself on some shade though, the day was starting to warm up
Melbourne to Adelaide Road TripDay Two: Melbourne to Beaufort Weather: sensational, not too warm. One of a cluster of Woodlands caches found and logged today. A lovely walk with many, many roos for company, some of them quite large. Also regular reminders that the airport is close by. No rabbits! All caches were reasonably easy to find, and in good condition. Im enjoying this series, and will be back for more at a later date. Thanks for the cache and this great series Team Woodlands. Its officially a megaGCA1DNA The Great Leap ForwardAdelaide, South Australia February 29, 2024Wed love to have your company.
After having just spent a lovely week with my family, it was time for them to return home. I dropped them off at the airport for their early morning flight then made my way back out to this area for my second visit to find the Woodlands series of caches. I found eight caches during my previous visit here but today, with much more spare time available, I was determined to find many more. Unfortunately I was unable to find all the remaining caches during this visit, so I will definitely be returning for at least a third time in the near future. This one took me longer than it should have. I spent a decent while searching around everything EXCEPT for the item the cache was actually on. I fortunately soon found it after some perseverance. Cache and contents all in good condition.TFTC
A nice day and I had to come to come this side of town to go to the airport. And the day was so nice that my geopartner and I decided on a few caches before hand.
Took a little back and forth here.
Thanks to Team_Woodlands for the fun and the adventure.

This morning I had to drop a group at the airport for an early flight, so took the opportunity to pack my MTB in the bus and go caching.
When I'd set out this morning, I'd not realised so many of this series were off track, but the bike handled the cross country terrain admirably. It did however make for slightly slower going than on the paths. After signing the log, I dropped the pencil into the interior, and had to reach quite a way in to retrieve it before resetting everything as found. All in good condition.

It was a bit concerning when I approached this one and time running out to get back to the car before the gates close.
My kids and hubby are at two different camps with Scouts. I set myself a goal to complete this series so I could sign off a Challenge cache of 100 caches owned by one CO. Unfortunately, five are behind a locked, fenced off area for Eastern Barred Bandicoot. It was an amazing day with the weather being perfect. I started at 11am & finished at 5pm. Big day!!

Many thanx to Team Woodlands for the series and ongoing maintenance - well done
Look forward to a return visit to complete the series

Out and about with Team T.A.C.K.T including Jaamc, Kpatt and tag along cazzajane07. We had a goal to tackle this series to help cover milestones for some of our members, 69 caches down, 20km of park explored and we had a blast, there was laughter, tears, the occasional swear as we took on the long hike and we all had a fantastic day out with the team :3
A huge day out with a total of 69 caches found for the day (including #100 for me and #1000 for jaamc_3335). A big thank you to team TACKT for inviting me along for the adventure and Team Woodlands for placing and maintaining all the logs!
On a beautiful sunny winters day Team TACKT + C set off for on our mission, nice quick find, thanks for placing this series
Out for a walk today with my muggle friend, our aim was to knock over some more of this series. One section seemed to be locked…the three gates we passed all had locks on them. Really enjoying the whole area…so many kangaroos.
Thanks for placing the cache Team_Woodlands.
I has been a while since I have been out to Woodlands, but I had a free morning, so I thought I should make a start with this series.
Unloaded the deadly treadly about 9am on a cool overcast day, just perfect for a ride.
The first half a dozen had pristine log books, and were all in excellent condition.
Then I came across one with a quarter full logbook! What is happening here? Just past the next cache I met up with the CO who was doing maintenance. Stopped for a chat.
All the other caches I did today were in good condition - a great job with the maintenance.
Thanks for keeping this series up long enough for me to get around to them
Completed a loop of about 35 caches this morning. I will be back.
Fair warning! I dodged several rabbit holes as I cut across country to this cache.
Thanks, Robmc.

TwoEms didn’t see any rabbits, but we hopped over lots of grass pompoms. Thank you for the cache.
Incorporating a Sunday arvo trail run, in this beautiful park, with Geocaching while in Melbourne. Great Cache. Thank you.
Not quite where I expected from the clue, but a common enough location for this series
Find No. 3874. Found with FUF009.
A day trip down to do the Woodland series of caches.
Took our bicycles and FUF009 came with us.
Arrived at the gate, unloaded or bikes, had a cuppa and off we went getting our first cache at 8.55am.
We worked our way through the series stopping several times to watch the coming and going of the jets at Tullamarine.
After a long warm day with several challenges, we arrived back at the car park for a rest and well earned cuppa.
We put the clues together, punched in the co-ords and went and claimed the final cache of the series.

Well this has been a long time coming, to do the Woodlands caches. Many a plan has fallen through due to health and pandemic and work issues. But finally all was on our side for a cracker geocaching day to end 2022.
With bikes loaded up we were off, left St.Arnaud just before 6am and had the first cache signed at 8.55am. Then it was just one by one, following the GPSr.
From flowing trails to bush bashing (with and without tall grass) and even a bit of water, we had a lot. All the while the sounds of planes going overhead, birds around and the odd 100 roos thumping the ground when we disturbed them.
We managed to make good time and accomplish all we set out to do. Despite the heat and a couple of hills I had to walk up.
We believe luck was on our side with the back paddock being opened, after seeing so many had commented on it being shut.
All in All, personally, it was great to finally get this series done with a couple others thrown in that are in the park.
Oh and by the way, we got back home just after 9.30pm. A big days outing.

Second visit to this one. We came here a few years back, but it was missing today. All I had was kangaroos and finally a cache log to sign.

Slight annoyance at every blade of seeds grass catching onto my clothing and shoes,,the amount of times I stopped to yank I million out that were piercing me - sigh.. okay enough about the blade grass. Cache located and stamped.
On our deadly treadleys, catnap777 and I were on a challenge mission hoping to find as many caches out here as we could that have had 500 visitors or more.
The Woodlands proved very bountiful. [^]
We made sure we were back at our starting point before the gates were locked, moved the car, and rode straight back into the park again for just a few more.
This game can be somewhat addictive.

Found cache and log signed with dalerious on what was my first visit to this wonderful place.
It was a lovely ride around here, and it was lovely to see so many visitors to the area.
The grounds were beautiful and seeing the Thoroughbreds on our journey brought back memories of when I was in the industry as a strapper and owner.
The weather was wet at times, but that didn't hamper our plans.
Can't wait to get back and do it all again.
Speedy recovery Team_Woodlands .

SteMicMitSar and I have been wanting to do this series since it was published but couldn't make it happen for a variety of reasons. That changed today. All but two caches were found by us and the log stamped or signed. Lots of wildlife spotted amid the roar of jet engines from Melbourne Airport.

Today the weather was finally a bit better so we had the scooters out to try and finish off this series today. Well for me anyway, OzHockeyChick still needs some in the fenced off area which was closed. Apart from one DNF I have now finished off the series in this great park.
Plenty of off track finds today and gladly had the off road based scooters as well otherwise we may have well of walked everywhere. Ah, fun times, headed off for ice cream celebration after finishing.
Thanks Team_Woodlands for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

We had arrived at the Woodland Reserve to start our third run to complete this fun series.
47 Woodlands caches today - my legs are so sore now. Kids at school so off i went. Had planned to do a few others but there was a BIG fence in the way so I’ll have to remember that for my next visit. Lots of kangaroos out today. TFTC.
Parents were arriving back in Melbourne at around 7ish, so with a Sunday off work because of Easter, what better way then half a day caching. And what better location than right next to the airport ). Walked for around 4 hours and managed to pick up 44 caches from the series. Will definitely be back to finish off the series at a later date. A highlight was seeing all the planes so close to the ground, such a great park thanks for placing all the caches in here.
Actually did manage to see a few around while caching today.
Actually did manage to see a few around while caching today.
I have seen so many rabbits and have put my foot down a couple of burrows while wading around in the long grass. I started this series yesterday. The area here is larger than what I expected and it will be a hot day, so an early start was made. All these caches are excellent. It is a shame the bandicoot enclosure is out of bounds at the moment.

Nice quiet spot, good for a rest break. Still no trail here so more suited to hiking and biking
