Spring Victorian Incursion 2024.Day Three: Ballarat to MelbourneWeather: third day of strong winds but more sunshine now.One of seven Woodlands100 caches logged today, as I slowly chip away at this series. I had dropped friends at the airport and I wanted to hang in the area until I knew that they were boarded and on their way overseas. All caches attempted today were easy finds and caches in good condition. A big thank you to Team_Woodlands for setting up and maintaining this most enjoyable series.I wonder how old this tree is. Impressive.
We headed out to visit the Gillibrand Hill summit and decided to grab a few more Woodland caches on the way. This is a ripper of a tree and as soon as I saw it in the distance I knew it was GZ.
After a hiatus of 4 years we are back again to find some more of this series. Found ourselves a safe parking spot and set off on foot in the big park amongst the kangaroos and the big trees. That is one amazing old River Red Gum! SL at 1.07pm #10,993 TFTC
TFTC.....the hint seemed somewhat unusual at first, but then the cache was found and the hint is oh so appropriate and clever. Loving the hides along this trail
Checked on this one today.Changed the log.Sharpened the pencil. All good to go.
Approaching this cache, I wondered what the hint could mean. Upon arrival, it was obvious. Thanks for making it easy on a hot day. Only 97 to go . . .
On secondment to Melbourne, Australia, combined with short holidays here and there. From day 49/74, I was accompanied by my dear son, geocacher Ruupertti, who travelled from Finland to visit me in Australia and to spend a holiday with me in New Zealand at the end of my secondment. Day 50/74, Monday. After we both (me and my son) worked the day remotely from our AirBnB apartment in Keilor Downs, we headed to the lovely Woodlands Historic Park in early evening. We saw so many kangaroos again, and the geocaches too. We had so much fun! Thanks for the cache and greetings from Vaasa, Finland! Logged with [GCDroid](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gcdroid).
On a quick maint run and checked on this one as I was going past.Changed the log and sharpened the pencil. All good to go.
After having just spent a lovely week with my family, it was time for them to return home. I dropped them off at the airport for their early morning flight then made my way back out to this area for my second visit to find the Woodlands series of caches. I found eight caches during my previous visit here but today, with much more spare time available, I was determined to find many more. Unfortunately I was unable to find all the remaining caches during this visit, so I will definitely be returning for at least a third time in the near future.I found myself in this area of the park after taking a small detour on the way back to the main carpark. At some stage in the area, I appeared to have lost any definitive pathway or track that this cache could be hidden near. Following my GPS, I soon encountered a tall wire fence, on the other side of which was a paved pathway. I saw a tree had fallen across and crushed a small section of the fence up ahead, making it an ideal area to hop across and onto the paved path. I followed the path for a small distance as my GPS narrowed down on the cache. I then realised I would have to do another fence hop, this time hopping the fence on the opposite side of the path from where I was originally. I soon found a decent sized hole in the fence which was large enough for me to fit through, so I squeezed myself through it. I was now off any formed trails again, but this time was much closer to the cache. Once I arrived at GZ, the cache was a quick and easy find. TFTC
Came here on my 31st birthday eve for a day of caching. Found an animal skull. What type of animal? I do not know. TFTC
Enjoyed a lovely day here with excellent company of moonbi and even the weather was on our side. With a long day walking around managed to find almost half the caches on offer. We will be back Thanks for all the work that has gone into placing and maintaining this great series
I was in the area after dropping my partner and daughter off at the airport. This was my third visit and I'm slowly plugging my way through the entire series. I walked a little over 13km on this cool June day.
I found doing these today was much better compared to the summer months as there really isn't a lot of tree over. All these were found easily using the hints provided. Thanks for the series, I'll probably finish it on the next run -

A huge day out with a total of 69 caches found for the day (including #100 for me and #1000 for jaamc_3335). A big thank you to team TACKT for inviting me along for the adventure and Team Woodlands for placing and maintaining all the logs!
Out and about with Team T.A.C.K.T including Jaamc, Kpatt and tag along cazzajane07. We had a goal to tackle this series to help cover milestones for some of our members, 69 caches down, 20km of park explored and we had a blast, there was laughter, tears, the occasional swear as we took on the long hike and we all had a fantastic day out with the team :3
On a beautiful sunny winters day Team TACKT + C set off for on our mission, nice quick find, thanks for placing this series
Au Fait and I had a lovely walk doing the caches in this loop. It was nice to walk in this area with the trees, stumps and posts all telling their own story.
Thanks for the caches Team_Woodlands.

Loaded up the deadly treadly and headed off for another few hours at Woodlands.
Completed a small loop starting at the southern car park, and doing several eastern caches.
A great sized tree.
Thanks, Robmc.

A day trip down to do the Woodland series of caches.
Took our bicycles and FUF009 came with us.
Arrived at the gate, unloaded our bikes, had a cuppa and off we went getting our first cache at 8.55am.
We worked our way through the series stopping several times to watch the coming and going of the jets at Tullamarine.
After a long warm day with several challenges, we arrived back at the car park for a rest and well earned cuppa.
We put the clues together, punched in the co-ords and went and claimed the final cache of the series.

Well this has been a long time coming, to do the Woodlands caches. Many a plan has fallen through due to health and pandemic and work issues. But finally all was on our side for a cracker geocaching day to end 2022.
With bikes loaded up we were off, left St.Arnaud just before 6am and had the first cache signed at 8.55am. Then it was just one by one, following the GPSr.
From flowing trails to bush bashing (with and without tall grass) and even a bit of water, we had a lot. All the while the sounds of planes going overhead, birds around and the odd 100 roos thumping the ground when we disturbed them.
We managed to make good time and accomplish all we set out to do. Despite the heat and a couple of hills I had to walk up.
We believe luck was on our side with the back paddock being opened, after seeing so many had commented on it being shut.
All in All, personally, it was great to finally get this series done with a couple others thrown in that are in the park.
Oh and by the way, we got back home just after 9.30pm. A big days outing.

Having dropped mum off at the airport, catnap777 and I made the most of our day by cycling the Woodlands in perfect weather.
On this our 2nd visit to the park together, we managed to pick up every last available cache in the Woodlands leaving only those behind the catproof fence for us to find on another day when Parks Victoria eventually unlock the double gates to the Back Paddock. [^]
All caches were found or returned in good condition with dry logs and sharp pencils.

Today I returned to Woodlands with biggles1024 in the hope of finally finishing this series after talking about doing it for many years, I was able to get all of the caches needed except for 9 caches that are in the back paddock that we have not found as it was locked up and we were locked out so another visit in the future will be needed.
The caches today where all found fairly quickly and most of them had a new log sheet in them which was stamped as we continued from one to the next.
**Thanks to Team_Woodlands for placing this cache.**

Out and about on our bikes early today trying to beat the heat and continue our Woodlands quest. Loving being the first in all the new log books. Thanks for all the effort you’ve put into this great series. We look forward to finishing it soon.
Found at 12:33 pm.
Today the weather was finally a bit better so we had the scooters out to try and finish off this series today. Well for me anyway, OzHockeyChick still needs some in the fenced off area which was closed. Apart from one DNF I have now finished off the series in this great park.
Plenty of off track finds today and gladly had the off road based scooters as well otherwise we may have well of walked everywhere. Ah, fun times, headed off for ice cream celebration after finishing.
Thanks Team_Woodlands for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Today I finished the last of the Woodland historic series. 26 in total to complete the 100 in the series. Oh my feet are sore. But I must say what a great location and a great time I had here this week. TFTC.
Second of not quite sure how many caches grabbed on my way to the airport. TFTC and adventure.
Fourteenth cache of the day. I am really enjoying this series. There is so much animal and bird life everywhere. A slice of bush in suburbia.
The cache was visible from some distance away if approaching from the correct side.
After signing the log I covered it with some bark.
Thanks for the cache Team Woodlands

Quick find! Love this trail and area. Its so beautiful both when you go bush and when you follow the trail. The kangaroos are in abundance.TFTC Hoodedhooligans (H.H.)
Lovely tree to stop and take a rest and enjoy the serenity. Nice and easy TFTC!
