What a shame this cache is gone. We enjoyed watching the fishermen fishing below us and also watching the surfers on the other side. Too good of a spot not to have a cache here!!
Despite considerable searching could not find this cache. Very spectacular location but clearly a very dangerous river mouth to transit. Many lives lost.

Out walking the cycle track with Ariestiger doing some maintenance/checks on all caches along the trail.
Yes this one is definitely gone. Would you like us to replace the cache or are you gonna archive it?

Found a lid to an eclipse mint box on the ground at GZ. Pretty sure it's gone recommend owner checks on this.
Four of us had a good search for this.

Day 13 of the Crookedclan's great New Zealand holiday adventure. Sadly, our holiday is nearly at an end. Today, we are heading up the coast from Greymouth in the pouring rain to visit the Pancake Rocks at Punakaiki.
On our return, there were still a few hours of daylight and even though it was pouring, I took a quick drive and walk around town to collect some caches.
Despite a pretty good search in the rain, this cache eluded me. Don't really have my caching eyes on today. I enjoyed the location - there was even a crazy surfer in the water. Thanks for the cache, Moneydork

Been surfing at the beach here a lot but had not been to the end of the wall. Thanks for the cache
Brought our lunch out here to sit and enjoy the view. What a lovely spot to just sit and watch. TFTC.
Nice to visit the river mouth for the first time, TFTC, out on the bikes today.
Rode our borrowed bicycles out to here and then discovered that neither of us had a pen. Luckily a courier driver happened by and we were able to borrow one. TFTC.

I had been wanting to come over caching to Greymouth for a while, since I had never yet been caching further than the West Coast CANZ cache!!
Spur of the moment, a trip was planned, and I decided to head off on Friday after work. However realised we had monthly after work drinks! Ah, stayed for that then, and then left.
Awesome spot, and a nice easy cache one I realised where a cache of the hint could go.

The end of the line for the river and us. We arrived just as a fishing couple were packing up so great timing. We spent a while looking at the calm river on one side and the waves pounding into the breakwater on the other side, and a couple of mad surfers enjoying themselves. Cheers
Straightforward find for me today despite it being pretty busy with muggles.
Thanks for taking me to an interesting area.

I love the exhilaration of stormy beaches but this place is a sobering reminder of just how dangerous they can be. Thanks for bringing me here and I'm pleasantly surprised at how long this cache has remained safe in such a public domain. TFTC #5507
Biked from the campground to here. Some waves crashing over the breakwater. Thanks very much Moneydork

Got a couple a good photos of the waves crashing over. Sad about all those who have lost their life out there.
Made the find inbetween lots of muggle activity. Huge swells today, it was washing over the breakwall on some waves.
Terrific location and quite a clever hide. Easy for cachers, not for muggles. Gets a fav. NINO TFTC
13114… Replaced the rusty container with a fresh minty one. A fascinating spot to watch the current of the river clashing with the waves of the incoming tide. Many thanks for the cache.
Team_Gaters and I have planned a this trip over the last few months. We finally got to the business end of things and kicked off out West Coast raid. We had two days and a lot of boxes to tick. We started at 5am on Saturday morning and it took over 12 hours to get to Greymouth. We drove a lot, walked a lot and had a lot of laughs. We experienced 4 seasons and even contemplated aborting the mission as we were standing in icy cold weather freezing as the rain came pelting down in Arthurs Pass. We encountered matigouri, rosehips, blackberries, brambles, spainairds, baby gorse and old man gorse!!! Still finding parts of prickles in my skin! We also saw kea, weka, cave weta, tree weta, giant slugs, giant spiders in caves, west coasters, fat wood pidgeons, tui and a giant dragon fly. Had wet feet for nearly two days. Three FTFs and on of them was unpublished (first for me).
We decided not to do some of the night caches due to the rain and possible slippery terrain and hit the solved puzzles and other caches we drive by. The sea was a bit rough and it was dramatic driving over the jetty to GZ with swirling and crashing waves and the wind a bit up. Nice quick find and we wondered how long the metal tin will last, its done well for being two years in the salt air. Nice spot.
Awesome weekend. TG and I joked that going back to work would be a bit of a let down, so to combat that we would keep one foot in a bucket of water and the other one on top of a pin cusion, that should ignite the memories.
Thanks for the cache.

In Greymouth with TheWanglers on a caching weekend. Out and about at night finding a few caches and solved puzzles. Pretty cool driving out here with wavings crashing on either side. Quick find and sign at the end. Cheers.
A quick find on an afternoon walk along the waterfront to pick up as many of the caches there as I could. The container is starting to become a bit the worse for wear with all the salt water that it gets subject to - the lid is starting to disintegrate. Otherwise all OK, I replaced it with lid down to avoid water collecting in the cache. Signed log, TFTC!
The West Coast was showing itself off at its best today. Beautiful blue clear skies 13oC in the middle of winter. The surf breaking with a good spray and rainbows being swept back off the white cap and to top it all off there was caches for us to find! This was Sharkiefan's 600th cache and she wanted to dedicate it to her Dad who was from Greymouth and this was her very first visit here. So this cache was about as west Westport we could find to do before heading back east. TFTC
This was one of the caches we found during our holiday in NZ.
We enjoyed caching around this beautiful country. TFTC!

Got here just after sunset. Watched two trawlers heading out over the bar, sea was quiet calm really
Mum and I walked down this evening with a new logbook that should last alot longer than my previous replacement. Logbook was in great shape, it was just full.
Yes the container is still rusty, but because it still does what its supposed to I left it as is.
All good to go Moneydork

Enjoyed this walk pity about all men lost at sea and so close to harbour. Thanks for all the caches on this lovely walk. Tftc
This one was out of reach, had to get the Leatherman out to retreive it,made sure it wasn't too high for the next! Doesn't really need maintenance?? it's a metal container exposed to the elements,it will get rusty but will last for a while. The lid is in place and tight and the log is dry.??

Neat hiding place but I couldn't prise it out so didn't sign the book - and there were a few muggles around as well.
Wasn't planning to do this one, but came down to look at the flood meet the sea. Amazing !! TFTC
Good to get out of the geocamper for a good long walk to complete the series of caches along the cycleway. The weather was kind to start with but turned to custard as we were approaching this one. Cache contents nice and dry even though the tin is starting to rust TFTC.
Quick find after a walk alOng sea wall sea calm today and weather warm. Enjoyed seeing a large pod of dolphins playing at river mouth
A nice easy find on a quick day's caching on the coast. Very lucky to strike a brilliant sunny day, and heaps of great placements.
Many thanks for this one.

Love wild powerful western coastlines. Caught a short break in the weather overnighting in Greymouth on the trans alpine railway. Pic to follow on my return home to Aus. TFTC.
Found quickly on a walk at night which was fortunate as there were several cars with occupants idly looking at me. TFTC
This is where we had lunch after a no find at Mills Creek. Easy find but plenty of Muggles. Very popular spot. tftc
I was out Birthday caching. This was find 12 of 17 for the 17th. The container is getting rusty, the lid no longer hinges but still clips on. The log book is soaked and mouldy, gracie7 has added a temporary replacement log. TFTC.
Just grabbed this one before a van load of tourist arrived. Had lunch then replaced.
The container's lid has become detached, so it can only be placed upright and water then fills it up and saturates the logbook.
This cache is in dire need of maintenance. The logbook is totally saturated (no baggie) and the container has been so affected by salt water that it is now falling apart.
I agree, needs maintance very wet and unable to write on. Was great to find on a easter morning bike ride, the barber was in its glory.
Huge winds today which was worse at the tip. Cache rusting badly and log completely soaked but managed to make a mark. TFTC
Busy & interesting spot tonight, but we managed to grab the cache. Soggy logbook so we'll pop back & replace soon.
A big seal was trying to get out over the bar - or at least that's what it looked like. A fishing boat was heading in, with two others out on the horizon moving in too.Maybe they are expecting the weather to pack up. Lots of people out watching the boats & the weather. TFTC
