Tftc. What a great multi. Thanks for the effort in setting this up. It has been a nice walk to gz. Maybe a bit harder getting back to car. FP from me.

I figured that since this cache has links to Brother Colin and its a multi in the bush it probably requires bike riding or walking. I came today prepared with the mode of two-wheel transport. WP1 was easy enough but then I could see now the bike will be required. I saddled up and made my way to WP2. Scrambled up to it and found the numbers for WP3 without drama. I pedalled on my way and again easily found the next clue and entered the numbers into the GPS. For the co-ords to WP4, I was seriously impressed with that rock. I wondered did BC carry that or was the detailed work done on site? Either waywell done! At the last WP I had to shake all the angry ants off who had taken up residence before being able to extract those numbers. With the final location locked in I made my way there and easily found the treasure of Captain Colins. The chest was opened where the ancient scroll was kept and I made my mark to prove that I had visited. What a fun way to explore this little area of bush and a decent way to get a bit of exercise peddling up and down the hills. Happy to give this one a favorite in the hope it encourages others to the treasure hunt. TFTC

IolantheK I found your cache The Cursed Pistol on 20/9/2024, 10:30am. This is my find 7046 and find # 2 today. Decided to come back and see if I can complete this multi. Arrived at WP3 and what do you know, found the coordinates in the first place I looked. Must of been over thinking this the last time. Headed off to WP4. Arrived and the coordinates for the final was discovered quickly. With the final coordinates I headed off. Arrived at GZ for a quick and easy find. Added some wealth to the box to ward off any curses. A favourite from me. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN

Down the coast for a meet up with the CO of another cache, doing a maintenance run.We had to stop near by this one so grabbed it while I was here.I found your cache, The Cursed Pistol today. This is my 3025 find.Another quick find.IolantheK, TFTC, TFTH & TFTSF

Shazzar66 and I try to get together once a week for an after work caching session. Our list of 'both unfound' caches around our area is starting to mean that we've got to travel further afield. Camp Mountain isn't that far away, so we met with this cache and a couple of other Oldies as our targets for the afternoon. Wandering to each waypoint, the information was located easily and we continued until the end where both the pistol and the treasure were located. All is in good condition here. Thanks, Brother Colin, for the cache, and IolantheK for adopting it and keeping going for our enjoyment.

16-Mar-24
Thanks for the walk IolantheK. Successful this time.

After finishing work in the neighbourhood I head to grab this cache. Today I went to the two waypoints I didnt find last time. waypoint 2 and waypoint 3 found. The cache was found and then sign.Brother Colin thank you for placing and IolantheK for maintaining this cache for enjoyment of the caching community

This one is ready to go at last Big GrinPlease note that all WPs are fire resistant, ie. not made of plastic.

I would be happy to accompany anyone tackling this cache, to see if it works as well as I think it does!

Taking the walk today with T-Tech to check on this one.

09-Dec-23
I was expecting to have to archive this cache today but happily all WPs were found where expected WP1: I left it as is.WP2: the hiding spot has gone so I have moved it slightly.WP3: T-Tech heaved it so it is more obvious.WP4: I left it as is.GZ: the hiding spot is still usable, but the container and logbook and most contents were destroyed by the fire. I dug out some marbles, coins and other bits of metal from the ashes (see photo). I have collected the remnants to take home and wash, and will be back soon with a new cache. Stay tuned.

22-Nov-23
There been a lot of burn of in the area. Wp2 and Wp3 I couldnt find. More than likely they were destroyed by fire. I Paf for help to keep going. I found wp1 and wp4. But the cache looks to be gone. I had a photo of GZ. The log look like its gone. So no cache.

IolantheK I didn’t find your cache The Cursed Pistol on 12/7/2023, 11:00 am. Found WP1 which led me to WP2. WP 2 was found after a brief search which led me to WP3. WP3 I came unstuck, searched in logs and under rocks for quite some time but couldn’t find the container.

05-Apr-23
Found W1 easily but couldn't locate W2.

13-Sep-22
The Geckos & I were out to finally take this one on. What’s better is we took it on in the dark! We can confirm a PAF was required at a waypoint but inadvertently found the clue & we were able to move on & find that cursed pistol !!!

Great nighttime cache with great torches…. No water required but just a bit of a walk….. OK I’m giving a fav point cause I enjoyed the experience in the dark.

12-Sep-22
Muggle65 and l started this one after dark and were very glad to have fully charged torch batteries. We had trouble at only one waypoint and as often happens, as soon as l asked for help, M65 found it. Great cache that l suspect was more fun in the dark

A couple of months ago, when caching with the CO, she suggested this would be a fun multi to do, so today was the day. It was a beautiful winter’s day for a walk in the forest finding the waypoints. A bit of muscle is required at some! At GZ, everything was in perfect condition and I left my piece of treasure so that bad luck wouldn’t follow me and it didn’t as we found quite a few other caches today. Thanks for the great morning IolantheK. FP for sure.

04-Jul-22
I had the day at home catching up on my logs and to which I am still a few behind, but then I felt like a bike ride. I wondered through the map and found a couple of caches that I had sitting around, the cursed pistol and rocky surrounds, ok why not. So I loaded up the bike and off I went.
The cursed pistol is one that has interested me for a while but seems I just could not find time for, well that is going to change today. With the bike loaded I drove to the posted coordinates. I found the cache easily and then realised I had another spot to travel to. Then things fell into place and my memory started to kick in. My plan was to see where this one would take me but also grab Rocky surrounds and that is why I brought the bike.

Off I went, Waypoint after waypoint until I reached the final destination and OH MY, what an awesome cache. A nice size large cache, with nicely set out containers and then the surprise packet at the bottom. OH MY GOODNESS, I love it well done, a favourite point for this one for sure. I wish the girls were with me now. I signed the log and then continued onto my other cache I came for today. Thanks for keeping this one maintained.

22-Oct-21
Taking this one offline to do a thorough check of all the WPs.

22-Oct-21
It was a rainy walk to check on this one but everything is in good condition, so I am enabling it now. Thanks to stairman1 for replacing WP1.

The Cursed Pistol was transferred from Brother Colin to IolantheK

07-Aug-21
Today with another day in COVID-19 lockdown, I decided to use my home distance limitation and opportunity for fitness to complete the infamous *X* by MTB. I got going early departing from Enoggera Reservoir, and made the ride accordingly. It was a long day out, but given a few mechanical issues, I needed to move and redeploy my vehicle, which perhaps facilitated my loop ride. The ride was extended by performing additional detours and extensions whilst passing by nearby geocaches, and so in the end, it was a long day to be on the saddle!

I hadn't planned on completing this multi-cache, nor whether to even consider this one today, however since this multi-cache's WP1 was nearby, I decided to visit it. Sometimes you just never know in which direction a multi-cache will take you. Fortunately, it appeared to be heading in the same direction that I was, so that turned out to be great! The small clue at Waypoint 1 didn't take long to find, and I should give thanks to stairman1 who replaced that clue a few months ago.

Waypoint 2's clue was the one that took me the most time - the hinted suspicious pile didn't seem to stand out at all, as there were just so many around! The coordinates kept taking me to a small depression, and so that appeared to be the logical spot for a clue, but alas I had to keep searching around. I was about to give up when after expanding my search radius, I spotted the camouflaged POS.

Waypoint 3 and Waypoint 4 were very well done, and thankfully, I was diligent in my searching that they both didn't take long to find at all. I soon arrived at GZ, where that cursed pistol and treasure chest of goodies were found! The cache container and logbook were in good shape. A fantastic and well organised multi-cache! Thanks Brother Colin for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance (and stairman1's recent maintenance).

Found today with a muggle friend. We had a couple of issues with wpt1. but with a call out to the Co. we were on our way. Please note now there is a wpt1 for future hunters. Co-ords are dead on. Off now to wpt2. lovely wander and wandered past and had to back track a little. Had no problems here and were on our way again.
I wont spoil things for future hunters. Except my muggle friend and I were very impressed with the following way points and their locations.
Another very well set out multi and a pleasure to walk it.
Thanks Brother Colin for your great cache. Have another fav point.

10-Apr-21
On a beautiful Saturday morning, I decided to ditch Park Run and go for a bush walk instead. This area looked inviting with a mix of this multi and some trads, one of which is an oldie. What more could I ask for.
Arriving at WP1, I wandered around in circles for a bit and eventually looked a little further over there and found what I needed. WP2, same circles, and found something hidden in a similar manner. WP3, I knew from previous logs this was something special and took some time looking everywhere, sitting down and reading previous logs again. I kept looking at something, checking it but not finding what I needed. Ok, this something popped into my gaze again, time for another look ... aha!!! How very clever Brother Colin. As others have said, this is well worth the persistence, we are very well-rewarded with this one. Moving along to WP4 I found what I needed quite quickly.
Making my way to the final, I spotted the great-sized cache as I approached GZ. With a super dry log in hand, I signed it and replaced all as found. I also dropped off a special bit of treasure to add to the collection.
Thanks so much Brother Colin for a fantastic multi, a great roam around the bush. A fav from me.

26-Oct-20
All waypoints are under rocks. WP3 took 3 attempts. Cache all OK and wow, TFTC!

19-Oct-19
The first waypoint took me the longest as the hint no longer applies. But, after reading a couple of previous logs, I quickly unearthed it. The second waypoint also took some time as I focussed on the obvious feature that matched the hint and missed the less obvious feature a few metres away. But the next couple of waypoints were a lot quicker and I arrived at GZ after an enjoyable walk. Made a quick find and continued on up the hill to see what else I could see on my walk. Thanks for the cache

Like a lot of multis I do, this one took two visits to complete. I came here a few days ago and did waypoints 1 and 2 but then the sun went to bed and I didn't fancy scrambling around here in the dark.

Planned to come back today to finish it and got the shock of my life- the anti caching muggle, decided he wanted to come too! We enjoyed the drive out here and pulled up outside and set off along the track enjoying being outdoors on a nice day. I pointed out WPs 1 & 2 as we went past and on we went to WP 3.

The train nearly derailed here as we couldn't find it even after extending our search area. I sent off two PAFs and we kept looking. Both got back to me and confirmed what I had thought we were looking for, we just hadn't looked properly enough! Great! Got the numbers in and trotted off to WP4. Hmm, neither of us were confident of taking the direct route so the muggle went one way and I went the other and we both got there at the same time. I approached this one very cautiously as a slip could end up being more than painful and I was even more careful obtaining the coordinates as the potential for disaster here was very high in how it was placed. Another set of numbers were plugged in and soon we were zeroing in on GZ. Bingo! I signed both of us in the log as I'm starting an account for the muggle as he's been to quite a few caches with me and even picked the name Zip Zap a while ago.

Had a poke through the treasure chest and found the path tag to add to my collection. Left assorted goodies and a treasure hunt book for the junior pirates to study. Fired off the cursed pistol in all directions but didn't hit anything, even the muggle so we put it all back and wandered back to the car. Leaving a favourite point here for the work that went into those waypoints and for the enjoyable excursion.

TFTC Brother Colin (and your help at WP3!)

Read some previous logs and was intrigued by Lozbuckets reference to Fangsoki's misfortune at WP4 so scrolled back through the logs....

OMG!!!
Yes I laughed till I cried, but also with relief as I had feared the very same thing happening to us at this waypoint!! Champion points to Fangsoki and his friends for retrieving the cursed thing as it would have been a massive task in that terrain!!

08-Jul-19
We had great fun finding all the WPs and found lots of rocks along the way. Thanks Brother Colin

08-Jul-19
While we did attempt a few caches out this way today it was this one which was the reason we cane out this side of the City. WP1’s protection had been completely burnt away but WillPunkey spotted something in the open, sure enough the coordinates were safe, WP1 is now under a rock. Along we went to WP2 and then WP3 which had me completely stumped. Then i read the hint again and went back to my original idea and there it was. Then a scramble to locate WP4 and then the final. We were greeted by the treasure chest which we added some swaps a TB and one of our pathtags. Thanks Brother Colin, this one definitely deserves a FP

What a fantastic adventure this multi was! Seems the CO was out this way today as he completed the same whereigo we did later in the morning just up the road a ways. First two waypoints were collected with ease but number 3 alluded us for a good ten minutes until we both wondered on something and hey presto Look At That!!! Best waypoint I have seen yet!!! Brilliant! WP 4 just as clever! Onto GZ where I paid by leaving a CITO geocoin, my pathtag and a pretty purple butterfly!! Loved this!!! As I usually frown at multi caches this has me reevaluating my thoughts. Fave point mate for a bonza cache!

28-Dec-18
This story had it all and no one surprisingly received any jail time. These days any of the following would be an indictable offense: possession of a concealable firearm, piracy, conspiracy, theft, fear or provocation of violence, harassment, nuisance, larceny, handling stolen goods and the list goes on!! The book should had been thrown at the Captain, and the key thrown away.

Then we look at the villagers' issues, impersonating a doctor, operating a diamond mine without a permit, no WHS or personal protective equipment and no union reps. And where were the security personnel or maybe they were sleeping on the job or the witch doctor took up some moonlighting after hours.

This was the targeted cache of the day to assist Gcoven with a multi challenge. I tagged along for the ride, then a good length walk. Had no issue until hitting WP4. Went immediately to the logical spot then finding nothing, moved to other hopeless spots. After 10mins and reading a few old logs, went back to find the original spot and uncovered the coords. A clever idea!!

Left my tribute, a silver piece of 8 with the other treasure hoard and a FP just to make sure no DNF curse befalls my pathetic life... Enjoyed this morning's walk and an interesting cache Brother Colin.

24-Nov-18
Finally made our way to here today and did the nice bush walk. Enjoyed all WP;s. Great area. WP3 is probably the best and most secure WP that I have ever seen. It can't burn or disappear..
Paid our price at GZ and signed the log.

Thanks for the fun adventure!

Had fun with wp3. All is well. Left TB. TFTC.

03-Nov-18
Great morning out with the family. Way point 1 found easily. WP2, a little harder and now right on a bull ants nest. WP3 took a while but worth the wait. Fantastic effort. Wp4 also a classic. All is good with the cache. Everything dry and treasure was added too. nice hoard. Picked up a travel bug.
Favourite point for this one. TFTC Brother Colin.

Had the opportunity to do some training today for an upcoming NZ hike with 3/4 of the crew, and this looked like a good place to start! We had a great time, found the first 2 locations without issue, and then had a really good laugh when we finally figured out the 3rd! Haha oh man.... I'm not as good a geocacher as I thought!
Had an even bigger laugh when we got to the 4th and realised exactly what had happened to Fangsoki all those years ago. Absolutely hilarious! What a champion for chasing it and fixing it up. Happily, nothing similar happened to us.
The final was so well organised and presented, and this is altogether a very well set up and thought out cache! Loved it, Brother Colin! Great memories made today Smile
TB swap and fav point added. Smile

Swellerfungus thought this would be a good target for an ANZAC Day walk. Accordingly, after attending our local dawn service and enjoying a quick eggs bene with Jez, I hopped in the car to meet Fungus at the end of Link Road. We set off toward WP1 which was quickly found, WP2 was in the anticipated direction, and also quickly found by Fungus. WP3... well, previous logs have already indicated this is a fun little interlude in this multi, so all I'll say is we too had fun finding this point, and tenacity was probably our most useful skill here! WP4 was another quick find and we headed off to find the huge final container. The pistol nestling on its bed of treasure was quite a sight, and we left a TB as our offering to the curse.

Thanks for this one Brother Colin, FP for WP3 and this very fun multi.

25-Apr-18
This cache has been on my to do list for a long time, and somehow the right time just never seemed to pop up. While searching for a cache to complete after the Anzac Day Dawn Service today, this one met all the criteria. A good walk, not too long, and looked like a bit of fun. How right we were.
Not wanting to give away too much, JeznDez and I had a cracking good tome working our way around the waypoints, until we got to a wonderfully large cache. All in good order here.

Let me say for those who struggle at WP3 - persist - it is worth the aha moment. It is one of those type of cleverness that rather than 'Phone a Friend', I would leave it and come back another day. It's just that clever.

A Favourite Pt from me. Well played to the CO!

With a couple of free hours opening up at short notice, I decided to zip out to Camp Mountain and see if I could locate the cursed pistol.

I'm glad I brought the Merida for a ride, the nice wide and mostly well kept tracks allowed me to blaze down the hills quickly and gave my legs a good workout on the hills.

The WPs were found with the same amount of ease and/or frustration as others have reported, in the end there was something so blaringly obvious about WP3 that I gave myself an uppercut for having not noticed [^].

I located the bounty and deposited my token of $100 issued by the Kids Bank Cool to avoid contracting the dreaded DNF curse. The 2 listed TBs are nowhere to be seen. All is well here. An FP is coming your way for the effort you've invested.

Thanks for the hunt **Brother Colin**, this find makes Smile #4577. Discover our TB

We have worked out the best time to go caching, nice and early, as our muggle teens don’t wake up until the crack of noon, so we can be out and back home again before they require the 4ando uber service.

We packed our bikes, one stolen from muggle mum as Mrs 4ando’s bike had a slight mishap on the previous ride. To be fare we tried to fix it before we five finger discounted the current one, but when we took it to the bike shop the bikeman was horrified where this bike had been, it had a couple of other little faults: no bell (that fell off somewhere oneday, a flick of the finger on it and it stilled worked), reflectors had fallen off (some tracks have been bouncy), stand is nearly falling off, back brakes not working at all, front brakes loose and no suspension at all left (don’t know how that happened

I have stamped numbers into 2 of the way points now. Big Grin
Should be a lot easier to read. Big Grin

Great Cache, good morning walk with the kids. They did opt to go bush instead of following the track for some of the WP's.

TB DROP. Longer log to follow.

What a great way to spend a Wednesday! Out with 1MinnieMoo, wombles and Jelly the Wonderdog Smile

A lot of fun was had finding all the WPs and then thankfully/happily the final GZ. We certainly left some treasure. I don't need a curse, I get enough DNFs Razz

Thanks for the fun multi and smiley Brother Colin Big Grin

Out and about with 1MinnieMoo, Nyssaflutterby and Jelly the wonder dog.
We met 1MM at the parking spot and then headed off to WP1, a nice quick find in a quirky container.
Then off to the next WP, another quick find once we were at the right elevation.
Heading off to the next WP, I think there's a pattern here, lots of zigging and zagging in this place!
There were lots of loud cockatoos around today, and a couple of muggles but no other wildlife.
At WP 3 we knew it might be a bit tricky, so we were all looking at things, under things and of course it was in the spot we'd checked first but very tricky!
Off to the next Wp, and I may have been cursing the CO a little.. all this up!
Off to the final and wow, what an awesome cache, lots of treasure, I added some treasure to fend off the curse and swapped some swag and added a TB.
After replacing the treasure we decided to carry on up the hill and find some more caches...

2/8/17, 11:25 am Find #1057
Well today was my planned day off, and speaking of plans, some were hatched last night between NyssaFlutterby, Wombles&Co and I to head out for some caches... and then we changed our plans and decided to come here instead for these caches, in particular this one.
Having ditched the geokids at school, I charged off to make another find first, before parking at the provided coords to await my caching partners in crime. I covered myself with substantial Bushmans to help combat any further tick encounters this season - yes they are still rife out there - and a quick slathering of sunscreen before relaxing in the car.
And soon enough Nyssa, Wombles and Jelly the Wonderdog arrived and we began our assault.
First waypoint tackled quickly, then Wombles&Co came to the rescue on the second. Come the third and we turned every one in the zone.... and then I went back and turned one again and asked Wombles to look at it with me. Yes of course that was it. Info taken we were off again, but made a quick find at WP4 - tho one of the numbers was a little unclear and we hoped we read it correctly.
And then it was on to the final, where we were glad the terrain was a little kinder as we pulled out the treasure. And WHAT a treasure it was! We marked our names in the logbook, and added some treasure of our own, which must have worked, as we had a very successful day today (I even managed to cross off a precious DNF later on in the day on my own)!
Thanks for the cache Brother Colin, a most enjoyable venture worthy of an FP from me.

21-May-17
What a great cache! Smile Good fun, nice walk.
Like some finders before us, we too had trouble at WP3. If only we'd looked harder the first time. Big Grin
Dropped off pieces of eight (hope it works - sick of DNFs) and a TB.
Thanks for the fun BC - well deserved Fav Pt from us.

30-Apr-17
Loved reading the story behind this cache . We were excited to do this multi today. Sharpem, bear0503, boo_noyes and i arrived at wp1 and quickly found coordinates
To wp2. At wp2 i took a little tumble after using what i thought was a nice sturdy rock to use to climb which crumbled and fell with me. I fell heavy on right hip grazed left elbow and must have twisted left knee as its quite painful now its cooled down. It was only a little sore for the rest of the walk.it took a little search to find coordinates to wp3, wp 3 was hard, we looked at what we thought looked like a likely spot but didnt look hard enough as after looking everywhere else i said its got to be here lets take another look. Sure enough bear0503 was able to see something. Is that it. Yes it is. Wp4 was another quick find and i see how the fangoski incident would have been . Bear053 fell over twice going an easy way down from this wp. But no injury. Off to the final and wow we were pleasantly surprised at the very neat and well organised cache. We brought along our treasure to be sure we do not suffer the curse and left some swaps to make sure. We made our way back to our cars. It seemed alot longer on the way back. We went to nearby park with champagne, fruit cheese and bikkies to celebrate a great afternoon. Thanks Brother Colin for placing this cache here for us to enjoy. Definitely a fp from me..

30-Apr-17
Found this one yesterday with Quesera, Bear0503 and Boo_noyes, we found WP1 easy enough and after a bit of a hard climb up on loose ground we found WP2, we made our way to WP3 And after a long search finally Bear0503 found it in a place we had looked at a couple of times and seemed the most likely place but we weren't looking hard enough. Thank goodness we now had WP 4 coordinates and up for another challenging climb and were on our way to the final, we found the final and left our treasure thanks for creating his multi we had a great day

29-Apr-17
Found 29/04/2017 with Que Sera, SharpeM and muggle friend. Only just logging now as I am working through my saved Drafts. Thanks for the great cache. I just loved it.
Champagne and nibblies at nearby cache.
Left some treasure of immeasurable worth just to be on the safe side.

While in the area hunting for a WP of another multi I discovered that this one was close by. Can't hurt to have a look at WP1? WP1 was found easily, so why not go on to WP2? Um, ok... What's the best way to get there? Once on the right level, the WP was found quickly. WP3 was not found that quickly. I can't write much more here other than that I had forgotten to take a picture of WP2 and started to doubt the coords entered in my phone. After searching everywhere, I sat down and asked a previous finder to confirm the coords: Yep, right area, look harder. So I did, and when I was about to give up I found the coords for the next WP. Off to WP4 which was a lot easier to spot and a lot harder to get to. A careful inspection revealed that it was tethered. Good! (Later at a local cacher's home I heard what could happen here, one should read older logs Surprised ) The final was an easy find again. Love it.

Great day for a walk & picnic

19-Apr-16
I had heard good things about this multi and have had it on the "to-do" list for a while. The placement of a certain TB into the cache bumped it right up the list, however. This afternoon being my early finish at work I jumped straight into the car to travel the 40 minutes to WP1 hoping I would not run out of light before I returned. I travelled around the waypoints, thankfully without incident and not taking too long to find them . Closing in on gz the hide presented itself quickly and the lovely big container was found. I added my name to the log and retrieved the TB which sparked my afternoon dash. Gold was added to the treasure to appease the curse and ensure future dnf's are kept to minimum. Tftc Brother Colin, take a FP for a fun multi Big Grin

Dropped off TB. Big Grin
And checked all is well with this cache. Big Grin

Having read the hint and past logs, I now had a better idea of what to look for at WP3, so headed out early-ish today while it was still cool-ish. At WP3 examined carefully most objects with about 10 metre radius - again Sad without success. No, that's been checked 3 times already! But, looked at from a different angle, suddenly all became clear. you Devil, Colin! Wink
Well, was very careful around WP4, although I was unlikely to repeat the 'goodbye' moment of an earlier finder. Lucky I brought my climbing equipment today (Fingernails and sharp teeth, with a bottle of rum to dull the panic on the slopes!)
On to GZ, where the log was signed, no swaps, but added to the treasure chest - some pieces of eight taken from a trader in Constantinople.
TFTC, Bro Colin. I wish you would teach Mr LLJ about multi caches. Only about 3km walking for yours, as opposed to some 28 km for Mr LLJ's latest effort! Wink

Apparently am cursed even though I didn't view the pistol!
Like the previous finder, spent far too long looking around the third WP unable to find anything sensible.
As usual in these cases, ran out of time as lunch was beckoning. Will have to try again later when I renew my passport for this side of town. Wink TFTC, anyway, Bro Colin.

Selvagirls and I had been working on a nearby multi - She had already completed this one so suggested as and we were not far from this one I should attempt this one. So I decided to pick up all the clues along the way. A few scrabbled up and down for a couple of WP's, but WP3 had me really stuck to figure out which rock... had I looked a little harder - I would have seen it sooner!! Onwards and upwards we made it to the final and I put some booty into the chest and signed the log. It was a great walk along this trail and a perfect area for an after work walk. I was looking for a nice walk to stretch the legs after a long night time hike in Friday. This mountain fitted the bill nicely, nestled just off Wingapp way (at the top side), plus an oldie and this interesting multi to boot.

With a late start at the bottom, I soon collected WP 1 and was heading down the wwwiiiiiddddee fire trail to WP2. There has been a hot fire here, so the landscape was bare and black. A short search turned up the required info. At WP3 , some fallen branches of a tree were obscuring the obvious location. However, a cursory look as per the clue was not fruitful. So I looked under others. After a while, I sat and pondered all around me. Of course! You sneaky bugger. And there it was. Nicely played! How is your back, Bro Colin?

One of the deceptive things about this area is just how hilly it actually is. I always seen to underestimate the hills in this area when looking at a topo map. Today was no different, and it is stupidly hot for early October. Onwards I plodded, up and more up.

WP4 was obvious again. I had heard stories abour this WP and quickly realised the purpose of the tether. Smile. No problems at Final. I had forgotton my treasure, but added a couple of trackables, which I hope appeases the curse.

Many thanks Colin. Have a crooked favourite point for the effort to place a few of those waypoints.

After completing ‘I’m hooked on Geocaching’ IolantheK and I headed off to find the cursed pistol. As we were driving up the mountain a dump truck had decided to take a tight corner by taking up most of our lane, so with a quick serve and a tight squeeze we were safely on our way. Stopped at WP1 but wasn’t as angry as this little guy despite the truck. Headed to Wp2 which was in an area that had obviously felt some heat recently. Back to the track and to WP3. I loved this WP and there was much discussion about it as we headed to WP4.The final was found and I had to of course add to the treasure by leaving a nifty little compass necklace, I was not going to mess with a curse of DNF’s!! I got distracted by the pretty shiny things and then remembered I still needed to sign the log!! Once the log was signed, it was decided that we were going to keep going and see what else we could find on the mountain. Thanks for another great cache Brother Colin.

Awesome cache. Word of advise make sure your gps has enough battery to complete this cache. Got to the final way point prior to gz and the dam thing died. I had to download an app for my phone to finish this cache off.

Well done brother Colin

I took a maintenance walk around today to check all the wps. Some repairs have been done and all is set to go again Smile

I was supposed to be racing this morning, but it had been cancelled because the trails were too wet in the Redlands. Sad

So now I have to find something else to do. [)] Hmmm I could start my geocaching road trip and go find a cache with at least 10 favourite points.

I had secured my souvenir earlier and had returned to the geomobile to start the hunt for this one. WP1 was quickly located and I set off on the geocycle for WP2.

I made my way to the designated spot and I was greeted with scorched earth. Very recently scorched earth. Sad Only one thing in sight that matched the hint and things did not look good there at all. Surprised

Luckily I know the CO so I gave him a call. The WP had survived the blaze and IolantheK had been out to give it a shiny new container, I just needed to find the right spot. The WP was well disguised with some burnt sticks, by I soon spotted it. New info obtained and I was on my way again, but not before I managed to trip over and fall flat on my face. Still on the phone to the CO of course, who was quite entertained. Red Face

Good thing I was wearing black because I was now black form head to toe. Well apart form the slowly spreading patch of red on my knee where I had managed to knock the scab off a recently healed graze. Twisted I decided to say goodbye to the CO and return to the bike with both hands free to save me if I slipped in my bike shoes.

Another short pedal to WP and a nice quick find there. Ditto with the next one which was easy to find in the burnt area. Wink One more little pedal to the prize which was also quickly located.

I added my name to the log and made my offering to the cache booty too. Big Grin

This was a fun little multi on the bike for me today. I had expected it to be much longer, harder and steeper, but it was nice and short and no real hills at all. [:o)]

A well deserved favourite point for your efforts on this one Brother Colin. PS you can stop laughing at me now Razz

Out and about geocaching this afternoon I decided on which cache would be my 100th. I found way point one and journeyed to way point two but unfortunately after a recent burn off the way point has been burnt up and I can not find it. A new set of coordinates will probably need to be placed. I will re attempt again later.

Many thanks to IolantheK for doing a maintenance run for me so quickly.

Barb and I were invited to this one to share in Selva Girls 1000th find. So after being at work all night, I raced home for a quick change out of the uniform and into my play clothes and headed over.

Arrived at parking co-ords and met up with a suspicious bunch. Down to WP1 for the first lot of info. Back up the road to the track for WP2. A small clamber uphill soon had the next co-ords.

On to WP3 and while I quickly located the GZ, the co-ords were missed. A second look and we were on our way. WP4 and the next lot of numbers were soon located, loaded into GPS and I'm off. There's a moral to the storey of never racing ahead. After finding myself about 60 metres down the hill, the rest of the group are calling out to come back. Seems the last lot of info, the nine should be a five [xx(].

Fortunately the CO came for the walk today and had us in the right spot. Log signed, photos done.

Dropped off Fire Chopper and Yellow Fire Truck TB's.

I drove up from the Gold Coast yesterday especially to do this one with Selva Girls as it was to be her 1000 finds milestone. I've wanted to do this one since I first read about it way back when I was a newbie cacher. Eleven months later and here I am at last, and in the company of the CO even!

We had 7 in our group; Selva Girls, FastEd 59, Barbbowman and myself all here to find the cache and Brother Colin, IolantheK and T-Tech along for the ride.

As I was driving down the road I saw T-Tech driving back past me. He must have just dropped IolantheK off, I thought. Then Selva Girls drove back past me too. Hmm, I must have driven too far. I did a U-turn and went back to where they were all parked only to be asked "Did you get the waypoint?" What?? Fortunately Barb and FastEd also needed it so we walked back down the road and soon found WP1.

Then began the trek up the hill to find WP2 which took us 2 searches to find, very clever Smile.

At WP3 FastEd learned that it isn't always best being off ahead off everyone else. He went 60 metres down the hill while the rest of us learned that we made a slight error with the coordinates at the previous WP. Big Grin

Then it was on to WP4 which has become a destination all on it's own, to see the object of the now infamous Fangsoki WP Rolling Incident. Fortunately we suffered no similar mishaps and were soon on the final leg of our journey.

The final cache was well worth the trek to get here. We were compelled to look at the Cursed Pistol and then oohed and aahed over the treasure before adding our own donations. I'd had a small panic the night before when I couldn't find my gold piece-of-eight which I've been saving for the last 11 months especially for this cache. Luckily I eventually found it - in a 'safe place' of course. Big Grin

After taking a few photos to mark the occasion (Congratulations again to Selva Girls on her 1000th find) it was time to continue long the trail and find some more caches.

My 1000th cache was upon me before I knew it. Which cache to make this milestone?? Then I remembered a conversation with the CO of this cache whilst on the walk to my 500th. Decision made. This would be it.
I invited a few people to accompany me on my milestone. Rhyssa6, BarbBowman, FastEd59 and I were there to hunt for caches. IolantheK, T-tech and Brother Colin were there to witness the milestone and enjoy the walk and the company.
At the parking coordinates, we realised that we had driven past the first waypoint. Four of us headed to the waypoint to gather the information required. BarbBowman definitely had her caching eyes on, as she located the waypoint almost before the rest of us had arrived. We entered the information into our various devices and headed back to the cars, where the others were waiting for us.
The larger group headed down the track. Before long, we reached WP1 where BarbBowmans eagle eyes again spotted what we needed. She really did have her caching eyes on this morning. This pattern repeated itself until we go to the final.
As we approached the final, FastEd headed downhill. As my phone was pointing in the same direction, I started to follow. Then BarbBowman called our from further up that she thought she had found a likely hiding spot for the cache. As I approached, I spotted the cache. I was about to remove it from its hiding place when Rhyssa6 made the grab from the other side. She opened the cache to reveal the dreaded "Cursed Pistol". We all placed a token of our wealth in the cache and signed the log before I returned the cache to its hiding spot.
The group then set off to find the other caches planned for the morning.

A very interesting concept and a nice walk in the bush.
Parked at given coordinates and headed out about 4pm.
Found where we needed to be and all was running smoothly and we moved along to find this cache.
Until..... we arrived at the last one and when geopartner went to inspect it and photo the coordinates there was none. It had washed off in the weather and we could barely read the first one of South and East. A PAF was in order as we did not want to DNF this one and have the DNF curse for the rest of our caching days. Oh no. That would be disaster for me as I love my smilies Smile I do log the occasional DNF Sad but that is if I absolutely cannot find it or having caching blindness which happens.
After ringing my PAF and talking to them both, we were able to head to the final after a few blunders about of first heading about 500 metres one way and then heading about another 500 metres the other way as we came back I headed to where my instinct told me and the cache was found. I added my trinket to the cache as I did not want the DNF curse and signed the log. A big thank you to my caching friends for their help as I still would be out there in the bush peering into everything looking for the cache. As it was we headed back in the dark to the geomobile arriving just after 7 pm.
TNLTSL TFTC Thanks Brother Colin Cool All good with this cache except for last WP. needs a rewrite.
Now we are tired

WOW what a journey, I saved this multi for my 100th cache milestone and what a memory I will keep for this one. The journey started yesterday arvo got into me walking gear packed the backpack with water bottle and geo cache gear jumped in the car and off I went, Got to the parking area locked the car and off I went opened up the app on me phone and started the walk down the hill up the hill winding my way through the hills I gets to about 1.2k in and checked the position of the first wp and realised damn I'm getting further away so turns around and back to the car I went, thought for a bit and headed down a different track East of the car yay it's getting closer that's WP 1 done off I went back to the car and set off again along the same track I had already walked got to WP 2 got the info I needed and realised it is getting late so put on hold and back to the car I went! Ok it's a new day back I went this afternoon headed straight for WP 3 got there in under 10 min but spent the next 20min or more looking for the next set of Co ords after reading the hint I think I overturned every rock in a 25 sq meter area, it wasn't until the third attempt looking under the rock I had my suspicions about I finally found it what a great WP hide, on I went to WP 4 had to change into mountain goat mode but I made it up and back without injury, got the info and off to GZ it was a quick find added some silver coins to the chest signed the log and started the hike back to the car, this is definitely one of my favs! TFTC BC and making my 100th find a memorable one Smile

I failed to find a multi at the weekend to complete my set of souvenirs. So when I looked near home the Cursed Pistol came up. I don't really know why I hadn't done this cache sooner but I'm grateful that it was there to do. So I took my shadow and set off. very overcast today so the gps was mucking about a bit but we managed to locate the waypoints without too many dramas. After peering down into one of the spur gullies I decided the best strategy would be to keep the track. Shadow decided to check out some bee hives along the way and got a sting on the snout for his troubles. I have been trying to train him to sniff out caches and he ran about six metres ahead of me to GZ and stiffened up with one paw raised in a classic pointer pose so maybe the training is working. More like coincidence in reality. I deposited the required trinket of priceless value and signed the log. Thanks for an enjoyable cache.

Slim and myself attempted this cache yesterday and found the first waypoint however when we decided to risk it for the buiscuit and go straight through the bush rather than walking up the road and going along the path it quickly went down hill after we were ambushed by thorns, bees, slippery surfaces and over-all and a trip to hell and back:(

HOWEVER we retried it today and went the pathway and it turned out to be a pretty sick cache find with some unique and cool waypoints:D

We also became premium members the other day and this is the 4th brother colin cache we have attempted and we have enjoyed each one a lot#thanksbrothercollin:D

Find #1000 at 13:00.

I needed a worthy cache for my #1000, and so this one was chosen Big Grin The usual gang (albeit minus kids for a change) was assembled for the quest.

After some logistical challenges (mainly involving Apple Maps), Palopinto and I, along with NyletaM and Alkzura, made it to the starting point and set to work.

The container at WP1 amused and confused us. Still not sure what the connection is, but we certainly got a laugh out of it Big Grin

And so off we set to WP2, which proved no challenge once the terrain was mastered. Next stop WP3, which took us a little longer until we looked somewhere we'd already looked and Alkzura spied what was needed. Oh! That is an impressive piece of work, Brother Colin! [^]

Off to WP4, and some appreciation of what the Fangsoki crew must have gone through Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin Many laughs were had as the logs from that day were read along the trail. We're not sure the subsequent engineering effort would actually prevent a recurrence, but at least we managed to avoid the same fate. Big Grin

Finally on to GZ where the generously sized cache was quickly located. The pistol was admired, and some treasure quickly added to the chest in the form of an English flag pin and some special pressed pennies.

The contents were further explored as the logbook was passed around and signed by all.

Thank you, Brother Colin, for a most entertaining cache and a worthy quest for a milestone. Everything was in perfect order. [^]

We all had a blast -- and I again thank my companions for their company and for sharing this milestone with me. Big Grin[^]Smile

Before I even recount our adventures, I have to admit that I had more than a subtle chuckle at the efforts of those who came before us Wink

So with EngPhil having reached his goal of 999, we set out to find the pistol and achieve a milestone for EngPhil. With our usual partners in crime, NyletaM and Alkzura, we found the relevant waypoints with very little trouble and the final was exactly where it should be.

Given our usual laundry list of dramas when the four of us head out together, I was surprised and pleased that we had very little trouble with any aspect of this cache. We were sure to leave some treasure to make sure this trend continues in the future Wink

TFTC, and congratulations EngPhil on reaching 1000!

I was with Brother Colin on his maintenance run today, and seeing as I have yet again looked upon the good Captain's treasure, I figured I'd better add to the hoard so I may avoid the dreaded DNF curse Razz My token today was a silver anklet Smile

I was keen for a hike this afternoon and decided this cache would certainly fit the bill. I had found WP1 some time back as I passed by on the trail of X, so that saved a little time today. My phone was down to 30% as I set off, so I decided to move as fast as I could.
WP2 needed a gravity-defying scramble but I made it without much hassle. This was the only technical hitch of the multi as the lamination seems to have failed inside and the digits are now getting difficult to read due to the water damage. Luckily they ARE still readable and the new WP looked exactly right so all was fine.
WP3 began poorly because I had thought the hint said that all WPs were the same: wrong! After a bit of poking around, I checked it again and saw the error of my ways. Just as I was about to start flipping things, a dog appeared above me. Uh oh. I hadn't seen a soul all afternoon. Then there were two more dogs and a female owner in view. She was probably quite surprised to see me skulking around in that particular spot, to say the least! As so often happens, she was quite happy to let her dogs come right down and jump all over me before bothering to call them off. Thanks a #%^^%# lot!
Anyway, discovering WP3 shortly after improved my mood immensely. Brilliant! This would have to be one of the greatest single WPs I've ever found.
Off to WP4 and another scramble; another laugh at what Fangsoki and gang must have witnessed; and off to the final.
I have been carrying a bunch of gold things for months, just for this cache. Did I remember to bring them today? Of course not! So I coughed up with the real stuff. Pretty sure that will keep the curse at bay!
Super work here, Br C: Fav point and *recommended*.

Well that was some walk in the forest. No problems with waypoints 1 and 2 but 3 took us an eternity. Had it sussed immediately but could not find appropriate information. Eventually persisted where it had to be and found the incredible source of knowledge. Wow!! 4 turned out to be a quick find and then on into the forest to the final point and a quick log. Then back track all the way we had come (pity).

I was on a treasure hunt with 'ruzzelz' this morning Smile
Guess what showed up at the top of the hill somewhere near the base of Camp Mountain ?
A treasure map hinting at the way to a fortune in diamonds and gold Razz

Riding the pushbikes along the trails we soon realised that this treasure map was going to lead us a merry chase [:o]
It seems that Captain Colin liked cliffs and rolling or tossing things off said cliffs at enemies.

Still wishing we had packed the climbing gear we arrived at the 'X' (I remember that cache well) that marked waypoint three on the treasure trail.
Lots and lots of possible places for clues to be hiding, but in the end we worked out that diamonds were not the only rocks that Captain Colin had transported off the island.
I guess this one was a bit too heavy to make it into the final cache Razz

Waypoint four and more detritus of the island was discovered.
It was safely anchored by a tree Wink
Oh how I would love to have been a goanna on the tree, when the now infamous rolling 'incident', occurred here back in November last year Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin

Finally the treasure trove was within easy reach of the geocycles.
Ruzzelz was more interested in finding the logbook for some reason ?
It seemed to be more valuable to him than the treasure chest !!

While my caching partner was otherwise occupied, I carefully opened the lid of the Captains chest.
Whoa!! Ice, ice baby Razz
More bling than Mr T Big Grin
And there was THAT pistol [:o]
I had to do the Clint Eastwood bit with it !
Oooh !! I had better leave some treasure Smile
Hmm. Seem to have left all my real treasure back at home [:o]

Not to worry.... all this talk of curses is just hocus pocus Razz

Or is it ?

I already have one of the highest DNF counts for Aussie cachers, so "what me worry ?" [:o)]

I took the Gazza the Green Gecko TB from the cache Smile

I love geocaching as it takes you to lots on interesting places, provides a series of challenges required in finding a geocache and the use of modern technology in doing so. I also love mountain bike riding as it also involves a challenging and very enjoyable outdoor experience which these days can involve use of the same GPS technology. Both activities/spots/hobbies allow you to set your own pace and if you like measure your own performance or your performance with others. Both also enable you to enjoy the experience alone or with others.

Today I set out with a challenge which I had been saving to do for some time and achieved this with a combination of caches, from a milestone prospective I wish each of them could have been the individual milestone but collectively they are each of the number of milestones. I very happy that I was able to complete another series of caches and challenges with my CB IF.

The milestones for the day included:
• A great day out in perfect autumn weather in Samford and Brisbane Forest Park
• A ride to the top of Camp Mountain and beyond
• Completion of 2500 GC finds

Finds for the day included in order
• “The Cursed Pistol (2500)
• Camp Amethyst (a worthy cache which started the journey up Camp Mountain)
• Janus ( The reason to head to the top and take in the views at a nearby lookout)
• A Chamorro in Oz II (the climb just another couple of Km was worth the effort – at least coming back was easy)
• Trojan Rabbit (this was always the true target for the day made even better with the loop route that we undertook)

To each of the cache owners (Brother Colin, Amethyst Cat, Wingapp & gefscofix) thank you for your hides the collective experience of the entire day is what I will remember as being cache find 2500.

All told about 57 km round trip with 1167 m elevation gain required. That is what makes a great day caching and MTBing for me. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/161214960

Well, this was an epic adventure!

When I first attempted this cache back in November I found WP1 easily, then got close to WP2, but soon realised that skirt and sandals didn't fit the bill, so had to give up. I suggested to my geospouse T-Tech that we might have time for it this weekend and he seemed keen, and when I mentioned to Brother Colin that we were attempting it he asked to join us so he could do a maintenance run (and I think he secretly wanted to watch some people make the search!) We set off at 1pm today well-supplied and kitted out for the assault.

We reached WP1 and T-Tech got the details for himself, then we headed off to the parking spot near to WP2 and began our walk. It is a seriously wide firetrail, and very deceptive, making one think that this shouldn't be too hard. Having been here before, however, I knew better, and was feeling very pleased to have shorts and hiking boots on this time, as that was quite a scramble up to WP2. BC sat down nearby to watch us search and seemed pretty pleased with his co-ords and the hiding spot. My descent back to the path was not a pretty sight, so I now have a long scrape down my right leg. Thanks for stopping me at the bottom, BC.

Onward to WP3, and here the fun began. BC again settled himself to watch, and T-Tech and I wandered down the slope. GPS was a bit off due to tree coverage, so we spent a bit of time discussing suitable hiding spots. We came across something that looked odd, but ignored it, then decided to have another look which revealed nothing, then had a think about a certain Lonely Spot we had been to before, and took another look at the hints, then went back to the same spot and had a third look, then, aahhh... How did you do that?!?!?!? No, really, that was quite a feat to put this WP here, go on, tell us! (You know you're just dying to, BC Very Happy) Great story! I really wish I'd seen all of it Smile

Onward again, and now I was beginning to get a little nervous. Some of the previous logs tell terrible tales of misadventure at WP4, and knowing BC was watching made it all that more unsettling. After another scramble we found it, and I'm pleased to say that a slight adjustment has been made to the WP and we had no repeats of earlier disasters Smile I am very glad about that because if what happened to Fangsoki happened to me I would have sat down and burst into tears!

We set off again, and shortly made our way to GZ. A likely spot was discovered and the cache soon revealed. And what a beauty it was! Very Happy Great container, great contents, very neatly organised. Captain Colin's stash was most entertaining, and the pistol impressive. I wanted to take some of those diamonds home, but resisted the temptation, and to avoid the curse of the dreaded DNF's, T-Tech and I added our tokens to the hoard: mine a gold bangle, and his a silver brooch Smile And I decided that it was time for Gazza the Green Gecko TB to have a rest here for a little while.

So thanks, Brother Colin. You put a lot of hard work into this cache and it is truly memorable. Even with you watching our every move, it was a fun adventure Very Happy Definitely a Favourite point from me.

Decided to let Brother Colin accompany IolantheK and myself on this cache finding expedition. Colin looked on from a "non-revealing the location of the cache" distance as we worked our way from waypoint to waypoint.
The final cache/Treasure chest proved to be quite impressive.
Well done Brother Colin for the "immense" task of putting this cache together.

But our day was far from over. IolantheK showed us that if we continued on this path we could do a round trip back to the car and pick up 5 more caches. Well that sounded like a nice way to collect a few more caches rather than back track, so off we went. I think that Brother Colin is very fit or mad or both, by the time we had ascended and descended our way from cache to cache and back to the car I was ready for a good lie down, whilst he looked like he could go on caching for ever. Thank for the exercise and additional caches BC.

Wow, find number 50 finally =)
A cool cache and some very creative waypoints heading into it. Left a small gold elephant to avoid the DNF curse. Took Gnometag Elias. SL. TFTC =)

Oh boy - I am going to cop so much flak over this cache. But I'll start from the top..

Lokipagan, Totalube, La Kedi, and I set off from the parking co-ords and went about collecting the waypoints. I had been in here quite a few times for caching so I knew how the tracks went well enough.

It was an enjoyable and hot day.. but we found the clues relatively easily and managed to scurry where required.

On to the final waypoint (not the final cache)... and there was some... unpleasantness. Loki had found the waypoint and was waiting by it. I decided to take a look so I moved it with my foot... and thats when it happened. The waypoint rolled down the hill Sad and then onto the path below Sad and then acrross the path Sad and then down the second embankment into a long gully Sad

So of course I was dubbed "asshat of the day". Eager to right my "faux pas" - I charged down after it .. sliding and slipping down. I had seen where it went down but we had lost sight of it. I finally got to the bottom. I would estimate the thing rolled about 80m down fom the path Sad Thankfully, I found it relatively easily.

I picked up the WP and lugged it up the hill. My good caching friends took turns in helping me get the beast up. It truly was a team effort getting it up back to the path. We got it finally... back to its rightful home and collected the final WP (yes this stayed intact). Onto the final cache and it was found easily.

We went past a few other caches and Wingaap called up for a chat. He kindly informed me he was waiting in the carpark with some sweet treats for us all. So we galloped back with some motivation. Many thanks to Wingaap for the snacks.

TFTC Brother Colin - I was happy I did not damage "that" waypoint Sad I was quite sheepish about it Twisted The waypoints and final cache were done quite well on this one - good job Smile

When I first saw this cache, I contemplated going out that night, but alas I ended up sleeping only to find that Mloe had a different idea that night Twisted.

Well I must say well done on your FTF Mloe!

So a group effort was planned for this, with Lokipagan, Fansoki and LaKedi all taking part. Starting early to beat the heat we found WP1 easily, and set us off for a walk along a very familiar track Wink.

At WP2, we (I Red Face) completely missed the WP, that was only found on closer examination from one of my companions, now that is impressive, very impressive Smile. Not sure how you did it, but very nice!

Now at WP3 was were our little (mis)-adventure happened! Now from my POV it went something like this:

Me: "Um, that wasn't the WP was it?"

Cachers not I will not name: "Yes!"

Me and LaKedi: "Oh Dear"

>

Soon after we decided to follow the WP, some following the "ridge", other following the ravine. Luckily once Fangsoki located the WP, all elements were still intact.

Then using a group effort we transported the WP, back to the path, and then eventually back from where it came.

The rest of the cache was much less eventful, and the final cache was found safe and sound!

After finding a few nearby caches we headed back to the car park, where a very thoughtful wingaap had some morning tea waiting for us.

Thank you for a great little multi, I was impressed by the WP and understand why you used the tool you used for their placement.

What a memorable cache!! We have been eyeing this one since it was published and conveniently totalube suggested that today was a good day to tackle it. So bright eyed, we arrived at suggested parking ready to go!
WPs 1 and 2 no problems. WP3 took a short hunt before Pagan and La Kedi double checked a previously searched area and voila! We oohed and aahed and puzzled over just how that was done as we took down the next coords. Then WP4 the fun really started Wink. First there was amusement about Loki's chosen path and possible consequences. However all that was outshined by what happened next [^]. Loki was graciously Big Grin waiting by the WP until the group had arrived. Fangsoki was next up and was a bit enthusiastic... In mute horror, we watched it disappear down, across and then down again. Deadly silence apart from the *bounce*, *crash*, *crack* that seemed to just go on and on. My that is one steep gully that goes for quite some way...
There was nothing for it but to follow. So off we went, Fangsoki leading the charge. Very luckily, we were able to locate it and then came the task of getting it all the way back up. Did I mention how steep it was???!
But in the end, good triumphed over gravity and all was right again. No more dramas and the final container was located without problems. Overall, a fantastic cache that we certainly won't be forgetting any time soon!
Thanks Brother Colin
PS Left treasure!

Seems this pistol really is cursed! After Wingaap's adventures, I wondered how wise I was to accept totalube's invitation to go after this one with Fangsoki and the Lokipagans, but a day caching in their company was too much of an opportunity to pass up, so to the parking spot we went.

Watched WP1 sail past on the GPS as we approached, then toddled back to find it without hassle, before the real walk began. WP2 had us scrambling (well, Loki ran) to retrieve it, then WP3 took us a little while longer but elicited many comments of awe and incredulity once we located it! I'd really like to know how you did that!

But it was at WP4 that the fun really started, courtesy of Fangsoki, whose innocent little nudge effectively shifted the coords by, let's say, 100m or so. Downhill. I was still perusing the landscape, choosing my path, when the sudden noise had me looking down the path to see the waypoint bouncing across the road and inot the gully. "Was that...?", I called? "Yep." "Oh dear." It continued merrily downward, to the accompaniment of my helpful, "Still going. Yep, it's still going. Still going. I think it's sto... nope, still going."

It did, eventually, come to a stop. Bottoms of gullies do that. We looked at each other in consternation, briefly considered putting a "Needs Maintenance" on the cache (just kidding! We hadn't written down the coords yet Razz) and began our descent. Our steep descent. It's an impressive hill, I'll grant. More impressive when you move a waypoint like this one up it! Happily, we discovered it intact and began the long and arduous retrieval process. We did consider posting a "Corrected Coords" at that point, but...

At last, the Cursed Pistol was unearthed safe and sound, and our donations donated, though I suppose mine was kind of by proxy. Not risking a string of DNFs! To test that I hadn't been cursed, we then headed off to find two more local caches, both of which were found, so I think I'm safe.

Thanks for a more-epic-than-intended cache, Brother Colin! =^.^=

I had a go at this Monday. I ended with a flat tyre at WP1, a none to gracious tumble down a slope and an encounter with a none to friendly snake. Needless to say I called it quits.

Today I got off to a late start. My bad there...this meant was hot plodding along these tracks. I certainly recommend a early start.

So much to say..but to say would give the game away. Ill just say I found the errr ummm detail put into the waypoints amazing...to say nothing about how you got them there!

Thanks Colin..it's a beauty!

Found the cache dry and in perfect condition. I added a couple of jewels said to be from the fabled HHOA (holy hand grenade of Monty Python fame). I certainly didn't want to be stuck with the dreaded dnf curse

I dips my lid to Mloe for tackling this cache in the dead of night. We went in daylight, a little late setting out 8:00am. A bit hot at this time of year, maybe very early, took us a good 2 hours. After a long walk and a lot of scrambling up and down banks, we eventually had the necessary co-ords to find the cache. The container was most impressive, with a couple of scares and plenty of swaps. Afraid of being cursed we left a diamond pin in the chest, admired the pistol and thanked you Brother Colin for giving us such a challenge. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

Got to WP1 easy enough and paid my dues. Set off for WP2 only to discover sandals and a skirt really won't fit the bill. I'll be back!

A magnificent cache. I'm so glad I went out in the dead of night to find it; it was so befitting the mood. I loved it. I'll have to write a proper log in the morning but for now I am kaput. Thanks Brother Colin, I really appreciate that's gone into this hide.

Edit

I didn't notice this cache having been published until it was several hours old and I was really quite surprised it hadn't already been snapped up by one of the usual suspects. Then I read the tale of woe and intrude and it began to be clear why not. Yet an evil thought had been planted, and I wondered if I dared... It was late, but there was still a moon, and not much cloud. Maybe I could go treasure hunting after all...

When I first arrived at the start of the trail, I wondered if I hadn't made some sort of mistake. The arrow seemed pointed in the wrong direction entirely. This was not an auspicious start. I should have more faith. Obediently heading back the way I came the first way point was soon in hard. I'll admit I was mildly relieved; wandering around the bush at night is one thing, wandering around the bush at night on a wild goose cache is another.

As I followed Captain Colin's clues further and further into the forest I was struck by how easy it was to leave civilization behind. There was no light, no sound, nothing to give away that just over the hill was a city. I could have been a 50 miles instead of 500 meters from my car. I felt then I was very glad to I chose to come out tonight. And then the moon set behind the hills. Goodness it was dark now.

The next two way points were a bit trickier. Its amazing how many sharp and point things the bush can provide if the circle of light from your torch is all the light you have. Perhaps the curse was going to stop me after all. It was late, and I was tired and maybe this had all been a terrible idea, when I turned the corner and suddenly there was the moon again! My course now was directly towards the moon and it hung between the trees like a beacon showing me the way.

It wasn't far now and soon I had the accursed pistol in my hand. The Captain's efforts were not wasted! It had been well worth the journey. Not wanting to tempt fates I left a fist full of roman gold from a previous hoard before replace everything as it had been. I headed back to the world with a light heart, but heavy feet. A great adventure!
