Very windy today and tide at highest at lunchtime so this was a specific trip to find the cache. PINO TFTC
On a road trip with Net61 exploring Kaikoura and finding as many caches as we can. Quick find here on a beautiful morning with the beach all to ourselves apart from the magpies and oyster catchers. TFTC
Trouve ! / Found it !Pseudo ajout sur la liste de course 5268me cache trouve.Merci bumandworker pour la cache Username added to the shopping list 5268th cache found.Thank you bumandworker for the cache
Found on a beautiful day. I isolated the mushed log with a clothes peg and put a new shopping list log into bag. Please replace carefully to keep dry.
Headed out to Marfells Beach after work for a walk to the light house. A quick stop here and straight forward find. Wish I had brought a new log with me. Managed to sign the log although nobody would ever know. Its falling apart. Thanks bumandworker for the smiley
During our trip around NZ we also visited this place. We found several caches here. Thank you. Greetings from the Czech republick.
Found but everything is quite wet inside, especially the Logbook. Had no replacement with us.
easy find on our beach walk.amazing beach. nice and quiet on a stunning autumn afternoon.
Honestly, I was just walking MARFELLS beach, not thinking Geocaching and then my phone got reception and I didn't even have a pen. It's like being up a creek without a paddle. Hope a photo of the log will suffice.
And I was so excited I forgot the photo. I also retrieved a card which I thought might be a TB. But turns out to be an invitation to the Capital GeoBasin Easter 2024 Mega event in Canberra. Will drop off in the next cache as I won't be attending.
Easy find once I had a phone connection to guide me.
Put damp log in a plastic bag.

After overnighting at the DOC camp, a walk along the beach , up through the grasses and following the hint revealed the cache which is in good condition. Thanks to CO for the placing of the cache
A quick find with Tregearp whilst having an explore around Lake Grassmere. All in good order. Signed log and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache.
Today was a long weekend day to tick off the Cape Campbell route. This was the first find for the day and easily found at the start of my 13 km, 3 hour return trip to the lighthouse.
This was only our second ever trip into Marfells Beach, the first was several years ago during the summer and the area was absolutely packed out and we were not made to feel at all welcome. So on that night instead of staying here we carried on and went to Lake Argyle where we had the place nearly to ourselves.
Today there were only a few campers scattered around, they all seemed rather relaxed and didn't take that much notice of us driving through the camp.
We went for a wander along the beach and were suitable impressed with the weather. It had been forecasted to be wet and rather miserable but while it was mostly cloudy there was only a slight breeze and really quite warm. The sun even appeared for a few moments on and off throughout the time we were here.
The cache was an easy find in the first place gk looked.
Thanks for brining us here and thank you for the smiley

After walking to the lighthouse and nearing the end of my return trip, I shot up the hill to pick up the other traditional cache in the area before going after this one. Fortunately both were reasonably quick finds. #4776. TFFC.
Nice easy find on an afternoon stroll out of the campground while visit f a friend who is staying there. Magic day, though sea haze obscured most of North Island. TFTC
Quick find with angelic-kiwi - tftc Stopped for a while for lunch at the Doc campsite
Im at the tails end of a 2 week road trip in my motorhome.
I spent last night at thelovely DoC campground , and wandered along here for a quick find before heading home to Nelson.

Love camping here, the scenery is stunning and it's always been peaceful when we're here (even with crashing waves!) Found this cache while ambling along the beach this afternoon. Thanks.
Exploring Seddon/Lake Grasmere area today. Was nippy this morning but warming up nicely. Fabulous camping spot. TFTC b&w
First time visit to this beautiful beach. We were hoping to walk to the Lighthouse but the weather and distance didn't favour us. A quick grab of this cache to acknowledge our visit. TFTC bumandworker.
Time to search for a few caches in the area after finishing my job at the winery and before heading back North. One I couldn’t resist after my trip to the lighthouse. Thanks for hiding the cache.
Lots of people in their camper vans spending time down here at the beach. Managed to get to this one but suspect the tide is on its way in so not attempting the other one further along.
Doing a road trip as I have to wait for my villa to be refurbished. What better way than doing a road trip geocaching. Thanks for placing and maintaining.

First time staying here in our little bus so this was an chance to check out this cache. A nice short walk along the beach to gz with some new friends. Nice quick find and maybe a new family introduced to the game.
Cheers.

There were a few vehicles in residence here today. After a short walk along the beach I had this one snagged and tagged . Cheers
Its Saturday and Toby and I had a great time, out and about exploring outback Ward and Seddon for the day. Thanks to all the COs that made it a little more frustrating and interesting for the day.

Second and last for the night. Don't want to climb the cliffs in dark to get lighthouse view. Quick find. Tftc
TYFTC found after some grass bashing. Nice to have so close to marfells beach, now off for a swim.
So I have a week off between jobs and so I have decided to get a return rental from Christchurch to Auckland and spend 7 days travelling and getting all of the Geotour caches via a Gisbourne. Also tried to get a few extra cool caches on the way. I would say that trip was not for the fainthearted and as a solo driver it was tough especially with all of the roadworks and detours in place. I was glad to have visited these locations but if I was to travel this route again I would take at least 2 weeks to really absorb some of the local landscapes more.
Day 1; once I got familiar with the camper it was time to drive north, my aim was to get within 1hour of Picton before dusk so I could set up and not be too far away from the ferry terminal as there were no spare bookings to change my sailing.
So many caches passed but its not long till dusk and got onto this road in time, planning on staying at the DOC camping area. After some dinner took a quick walk to stretch my legs. An oyster catcher was upset of my path, I wonder if they have a nest nearby, so I took a very long arch to give them the safe space. Took a bit of time to find but all good.
======== NZ Mega 2020 ========
Planning for the NZ Mega 2020 event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:
20 years of geocaching worldwide.
20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
And it's 2020 - all the 20s!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of this event - you won't want to miss it!

Found on 26/01/2019.
I was up at the top of the South Island competing in the South Island Orienteering Champs. This gave me some time to grab some caches on the way there and back. It was great fun to explore a new part of the coutntry.

We arrived today in Picton with the ferry, had lunch in Blenheim and continued to the campsite. So this is was my first cache on the south island
What a beautiful campsite!!!
We will spend Christmas eve here, unfortunately not the best weather but we are still having a good time!
Glad that there was a pen in the cache as I didn't had one with me.

No problems here. Reasonably quiet at the time we were searching for this cache. A quick find, back through the long grass to continue the trek. Thanks bum.
Jo had work on in the afternoon, but we had enough time for a ‘there and back’ to Cape Campbell lighthouse. Finally a chance to tick off a handful of caches that have been on the radar for quite a while.
A nice and uneventful walk. First time for me so I have no experience to compare it with, but Jo pointed out the differences had we taken this walk before the uplift from the quake. All caches found and tagged and in good condition. Thanks to the COs.

On the way back from the lighthouse, this was 100 m away - would've been rude not to
I've wanted to come and find this cache for a very long time so very pleased to have finally made it to the beach today. We decided to leave it for the return trip to ensure we didn't have any trouble with the tide - actually it wouldn't have been a problem in the end. We were surprised at how many vehicles use the beach as a roadway. TFTC # 12,976
We had bypassed the 2 traditional caches on our way to the lighthouse and looked for them on our return. The GPS's pointed to a logical spot and a careful check revealed the cache. Lovely day for a walk on the beach but the wind was getting up by now and the temperature dropping. The parking area in the beach is not is use as the road is closed while a new bridge is being installed we heard.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Heading South for a break and a bit of Geocaching. Grabbing a few on the way to Kaikoura.

As we sat down for the BBQ Australia Day event in Blenheim we somehow forgot that SH1 closes down during night. We were supposed to drive down almost to Kaikoura tonight but as it wouldn't be possible anymore at this hour, we came upon this nice campground and stayed the night here.
Awesome facilities, location, and turns out that it is the gateway to Cape Campbell as well! Didn't have enough time to do that though so just grabbed this cache in the evening and the other one next morning.

Alas a tiny human tantrum prevented us getting to the lighthouse buy a sneaky geocache makes it all worth it. Thank you for the hide, epic spot and I will be back!
T-Tech and I are travelling around South Island for 6 weeks
We stayed a second night at Picton, and today we are heading to Murchison. We were hopeful of getting out to see the lighthouse, so attempted to drive out to it via Cape Campbell Road and Lighthouse Road, but about halfway along we were met by a locked gate and a private road sign saying "NO ACCESS" Nothing for it but to retrace our path and attempt it from the beach, but the 10km round trip walk was just not doable, so we settled for the two traditionals on Marfells Beach.
It was a pretty windy walk, and it looks like cars drive along the sand We made a quick find at GZ. TFTC, bumandworker.

Over from Brisbane for a number of weeks "motorhoming" around the South Island with IolantheK [^]
Now to do some exploring of the side before cutting back to the west of NZ, and grabbing caches between views [^]
Tried to drive up to the light house however we were met with a private road sign "NO ACCESS"
So we settle for a couple of traditional caches on and around Marfells Beach
Nice easy find cache in good condition [^]

Drove the Redwood Pass Road then on to the beach for a picnic lunch with my mum. First time we had been here, must come back for the other caches and diva spot of camping. Live how silverbeet grows would here. Seems there was a beached whale as we were leaving. Plenty of people heading out to help. Tftc.
An easy find here after a short walk. Weather very windy still, although sun warm enough to take bite out of wind. Debated whether to carry on to the next cache, but time is against us so will save for another day. Hopefully one that is a bit calmer. Tftc
Found with Kiwitash during a venture down the coast to see how it's changed. This was our last stop for the day - amazing to see the wide beach even at high tide. Heaps of flowers and silver beet (?) growing on the cliffs and beach. Quick find before the kids descended to play in the sand.
I thought that I had downloaded a number of caches in this area to my GPS before leaving home this fine Saturday morning but on my arrival at Marfell's I discovered that none were there. Was able to get online with my phone, find geocaching.com and manually enter the coordinates for this one. It was a beautiful day with a couple of family groups setting off for the Lighthouse while I sat a swore at my own ineptitude before strolling after this one. I'm giving a favourite for this just because...TFTC

The DOC campground at Marfells beach was the start point for the walk along the coast to the Campbell Lighthouse, 15km return possible only at low tide !
It worth it a lot, despite the cloudy forecast the view was nice and we even could see the North Island.
On the way, we found this boxe.
