Since one of the pedestrians swinging bridges is closed, this cache is now beyond the fencing and sign that states...."Do Not Enter". Owner attention is needed, please.
This is now pat a fenced off part of track so is now out of bounds and should be unavailable to be found following DOC instructions Please disable till bridge is fixed, replaced and this part of track reopens.
We were very naughty as went around the fence and boarded up footbridge (not the suspension bridge I might add) Quick find at GZ then a scoot back.
This cache is now 68m beyond the no access fence and blocked off footbridge. As there are new signs, it doesnt look like access is opening any time soon.
Continuing our west coast trip today, a lovely walk around Hokitika Gorge this afternoon. What a stunning water colour. TFTC
What a lovely place. I have been most places in NZ on my travels and for some reason always missed the gorge. Tftc
We read in the newspaper that the Hokitika Gorge swingbridge would be closed due to lack of funds to maintain it up to code, so we came out today to complete the Adventure Lab before the main swingbridge is closed/dismantled? We brought a waterproof log to check on this cache for the COs while we were passing. There was an old wet paper log and a now full waterproof log + wee scrap (see photo) so we removed both and added the new log. No need to worry about the cache as you will be able to walk the new swingbridge and come from the other way to find it. The views are still worth the walk. All good here. Happy Caching
We are on our long-awaited journey around the world in 99 days. Second try after canceling in 2020.
Our third stop after Los Angeles and Hawaii is New Zealand.
This time was of course used to find some geocaches here.
Today we visited Hokitika George and while that time we were searching for the Traditional **Hokitika Gorge (West Coast)**
Thank to the Hints and the good coordinates the little box was found quickly!
After signing the logbook there is a new smile on our geocaching map!
At least we would like to take this opportunity to thank walders for creating and maintaining this Traditional.
Greetings from Nuermberg/Germany

P.S. To save space in the logbooks, we not only enter in sequence, but also in empty spaces between.

This was a straight forward find with the help of the hint and cache is all good here. TFTC.
Hallo, auf einem Road-Trip über die Südinsel Neuseelands auch diesen Cache gut gefunden.

We visited the area today and had a walk around. We walked straight past this one so had to back track to retrieve. A nice quick find. Thanks for the cache
Coming through here at 7am meant we had the place all to ourselves. That made searching for the cache a lot less awkward and inevitably a quick find.
Such a beautiful spot! If only the water wasn't so cold.

With sveppi on our 2-week holiday in the South Island. I was too dopey to load the cache while in cell phone range so had to go by feel rather than any info. I was hoping the cache wouldn't be too hard to find because today it's muggle central! But phew coordiantes were accurate and the cache was in the first place I checked. Could do with serious maintenance as multiple people have tried to add log sheets, all of which are damp or wet.
Came out here early this morning which was good as it started to get busy when we were leaving. Awesome place and TFTC
Took a bit of looking around as the GPS bounced but sorted it soon enough between muggles. Cheers
TFTC
Log is very wet and needs maintenance. We put a scrap of paper and a zip lock bag on the box as a temporary replacement.

Today on the round walk we made this Cache. We was alone nobody was there. So we can look and found it. TFTC and greetings from Swiss pogues
Found while before our visit Hokitika. Nice short walk with beautiful lookouts. TFTC
I was lucky to stop at the right spot, as the GPS was struggling under the wet foliage. TFTC.
Came here driving a bus of American tourist so why not use my spare time wisely- TFTC
Absolutely gorgeous walk, so glad we detoured out this way! The river was a clay grey today after the rain but we caught up to a tour group of 2 at the start and their guide showed us a picture of the water normally. We hung around until they left to grab this cache
That is the perfect colour camo. Well done! Much more a gray river today than turquoise. The other people's guide said the river on Saturday was 5m below the bridge. Nuts.
After the heavy rain for the last two days, the river was grey and swirling. But still enjoyed the walk through the bush. TFTC
It’s beautiful in here/ some great photography. I walked past at first and had Togo back. Nice find. TFTC
Day 2 on the Wilderness cycle trail. Before heading off on our bikes, our group was taken by van to check out the Hokitika Gorge. We raced ahead of the group, and quickly located this cache in the obvious spot. The log is a little damp and tattered but we found a little space to sign our name. We had returned the cache back to its hiding hole, by the time the rest of the group caught us up and we carried o this gorgeous walk. Tftc
What an amazing spot, so glad we came and checked out the gorge. Beautiful walk and spit for a swim. Tftc
Like all in this area. A race against time. Stop moving. Get attacked by sandflies. Luckily there were not too many muggles so we could be quick. Thanks
First find of the day. Not sure how much I enjoyed finding this one as I had to put my hand in many of the hint locations to finally retrieve. Thanks
Catching up with logging caches from last month. This is such a great walk, loved the new loop and the caches around it. Thank you
A nice quick find on a nice walk, thanks.
Ms_KR and I are off on a wee jaunt to the West Coast, to climb another mountain. Today we went for a loop around Lake Kaniere. A lovely day for it.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Great place to come to . Cache found fairly quickly but the log had the consistency of paper maiche so did not try to sign it. Photo attached instead. TFTC

Day 16 of our South Island roadie & last day before we head home tomorrow. It's been an amazing trip & this days plans won't disappoint either. Perfect weather again, and we have a few things planned for today. First stop the Hokitika gorge, then the treetop walk (I didn't think this through, as I hate heights & this walk was a challenge for me!), a walk down an old tram line to Lake Mahinapua & an adventure lab at the Woodstock/Rimu heritage area.
First of the day, and an easy find. What a fabulous walk & location! I the colour of the glacial water

First of the day, and easy find. Not super busy here today, we saw maybe 10 people max on our loop walk. All good, TFTC walders.
The 16th and penultimate day of our road trip and we are in Hokitika. Perfect weather again, and we have a few goals for today - the Hokitika gorge, the treetop walk, and some nearby caches down a track to Lake Mahinapua. That pretty much filled in the day as it was a cruisy late start. There was an adventure lab thrown in as well. Cheers all COs. Must be getting close to home, some familiar names popping up…..

Muggles were passing by at regular intervals and we had to double back to get this one. The cache was a relatively quick find. What a beautiful area to visit. TFTC
After a week in Blenheim playing indoor bowls 2 muggles and I spent an extra week enjoying some of the sights. They allowed and assisted me find some caches in the areas we visited.
We spent a few hours enjoying the history of this area. Able to grab the caches as they read the information boards.
2 nights in Westport and now Hokitika. After finding a motel we headed out to walk the gorge. Enjoyed the walk and the beautiful water colour. A quick find here. Thank you for the placement.

It was my muggle girlfriend who spotted the potential hiding place here, but was too scared to reach in blind. Being taller I was able to spot it and reach it much easier. Log is very wet, but still able to be signed for now. TFTC
Over visiting family for the weekend. Popped over to the gorge for a look, I’ve been meaning to do this walk every time I’m here but it always seems to be raining! Lol
Thanks for the cache!
Thanks for the cache!
Over visiting this wonderful place for the south island ultra run tomorrow, was told the Gorge was a stunning walk.. and did not disappoint. Saw the geocaches on the map and couldn't resist. Tftc.
Arrived early and went for a great walk around the Hokitika Gorge. Nobody in carpark when we arrived (it was almost full by the time we did the loop). Thanks for the cache.
#3,701: Gorge-ous Smiley!
Waited out the rainstorm in the campervan, then walked around the loop with the family. Found some, but didn't find them all. This was the first.
Nice place!
