We searched for quite a while but had no luck here.

13-Nov-17
We spent way to much time here for two reasons tourists, so many of them and our determination to find the cache container. Even with the use of a torch it would not show itself to us, perhaps we need our UV torch.
We did the complete walk and thoroughly enjoyed it, what a magic place. Wish we could have said SL, but maybe next time.

Lovely but walk but sadly no sign if the cache as per the previous logs.

Spent quite a while looking around this magnificent old tree but to no avail. Thanks for bringing us to this ancient landscape JKFizzle!

DNF: Well Mr Fergzter and I DNF this cache a few months back, then the little Fergzters found it with Grandma and pappa aka Lumpyjrb, about a week later. Well today the little Fergzters and Mrs Fergzter went back with lumpyjrb and thought we would have another crack. Well I think this is destined to be a DNF for the Fergzter clan as we still couldnt find it despite lumpyjrb's help. Oh well with lumpyjrb now living in Apollo Bay we have lots of reasons to come back and look again.

Quick cache. Gsp was funny around this area

Given ours is the 3rd consecutive logged DNF, with quite a substantial hint, this cache appears to be in need of an owner maintenance. As it is a bit off the beaten track, perhaps it should be disabled by the CO until a maintenance visit is made.

We looked high, we looked low, we looked in, we looked out, but today there was no way we could work this one out!

Thanks for the hunt anyway JKFizzle.

Sadly logging a DNF today. We started looking for a 5 litre container, as mentioned in description, but after searching a little while without luck, we read back through the logs to see that the container no longer fits the original description. Unfortunately, we came across neither of the ones mentioned in our search. Searched waaaaaaay to long for a D2, which is a shame. Such a beautiful location though, we thoroughly enjoyed the walk around. Hope to get back here and grab a smiley soon!

Walked the full circuit but when at GZ could not find the cache. Pretty sure it's no longer there, recommend owner attention.

Found by Team Ninja 07/04/17, find number 988.
Visited this cache today whilst on holidays in Apollo Bay. Wow, what a beautiful walk and a ripper spot for the cache!
The container doesn't seem to be watertight (it's not the 5L round container mentioned in the description) and the contents were a bit damp.
Managed to dodge a few busloads of tourists to get this one safely. Dropped off a TB. TFTC!

A 'cool' place. And we found the ring !!!

On our walk trough the rain forest we found this cache. Thanks for showing this place.

Reperio at 1545.

As I continued my way across Victoria towards Alice Springs, I decided to stop by a few select caches along the way. Whilst I was headed to the Apostles this evening, as I drove by here, I couldn't resist stopping and going for a walk in this beautiful location. I headed down the trail towards GZ, and just as I happened to arrive, two girls stopped and asked me to take their photo. Once they were gone, I just started to search when another two European girls stopped to take a few photos through the gap in the tree. I went for a quick wander further along and came back to find they were gone, and so after a couple of minutes of searching, the cache was spotted. Even though I didn't get around all the trails here, it was an amazing location to visit.

Gratias JKFizzle.

Found this morning. Thought we might have some freedom to look around in peace, but turned out to be an extremely popular walk for the tourists (like us). TFTC

After 20 years of marriage we decided to take a break in our busy schedule and go to Apollo Bay for the weekend. A visit to Cape Otway was mandatory and caching happened to be the icing on the cake. This walk was a real eye opener. We managed to make the find in between tour bus groups but hid it well out of Muggle sight.
TFTC!!! Smile

Took us more time than expected (probably coz' we didn't wanna disturb any spider) but finally found it... The description is not accurate anymore as it's not brown spay painted and smaller than 5 litres.
Great walk around there, one of the best (if not the best) rainforest we've seen in Australia.

What fun this was! A couple of bus groups, a scattering of solo tourists, a maniac festooned with cameras, but using his iPad. Love this sort of area, ferns, seclusion, quiet. If you like it, head up to Paradise and do the cache there -- similar terrain. John got it in the end, with Jinky keeping nit! Cache is a bit damp, needs a bit of a clean out, otherwise no problems. Took nothing, Left a geonickel, SL, TFTC!

What a beautiful place. Cache was found very quickly with geograndies. They are very pleased with themselves as they found a cache daddy DNF on! We had trouble signing log due to dampness. Tftc

This was our first stop during day 2 of our Great Ocean Road trip. What a great loop this is. We were here relatively early (at least before the big crowds anyway) so all the time I needed to look for this cache.

Found at 1:48 PM GAFF1.
We haven't been here for many years, as a matter of fact it was 9 years ago when we did the previous cache that was here, so it was nice to come back, but oh how it has changed! So may tour buses and so many Chinese tourists. Don't know how much they are understanding from the guides, but they smile and laugh at the appropriate times.
We spotted one of those carnivorous snails right near GZ and then found the cache which took us by surprise.
Thanks JKFizzle.
Feedback: The container is no longer 5l and brown and there is no TB in it. It is a white 500 ml plastic container with a green lid.

15-Nov-16
What a surprise this was. We were heading out to the Otways tree top walk and this cache popped up on the way so we decided to give it a look. Well, to say this walk was the highlight of the day would be an understatement and we enjoyed it so much more than the one up the road which we had to pay to do. We took our time on the walk and got the cache along the way. We saw no muggles which was lucky because by the time we got to the end the car park was full.
TFTC.

Heading back to SA with TT016 & spanner111 following the Mega weekend at Anglesea...
We picked which caches we would target on our way home as there were too many to do them all...

This was one place I really wanted to come back to...the family had visited here pre-caching & loved it...wandered down to GZ with grand daughters & S-I-L. My granddaughter fell over in the mud but was okay...the rainforest is so green, large and amazing...

The cache took a little bit to locate as there were many little hiding spots even at GZ...once located & signed we headed back up the track...

This was the last cache for the day as we needed to get to Warrnambool for dinner...as it was we were not going to arrive until 8pm...

A wonderful day and a fantastic location to end our caching weekend...

What a beautiful place for a cache.

I spent way too long looking for this one.
Talk about quitters luck for something that should have been an easy find.
Took a TB that was showing as being in New Zealand.

Thank you for a cache in such a great spot

Wow, this location is a must-see if you're doing the Great Ocean Road. We stopped here on our way through, and did the Mait's Rest Rainforest Walk. It is only 800 metres long, so doesn't take long, and the walk is spectacular, and a great break (variance) from the more popular tourist attractions like the 12 Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge, London Bridge, Bay of Islands etc.

I would have given this a favourite point, except for the fact that the description had us looking for a 5 litre container, and that meant we missed the hidey hole for the cache which was actually more like a 1 litre container.

Dropped off the BB Blooper trackable I picked up near Adelaide Airport. TFTC

12-Nov-16
What a great coincidence! Show weekend in Canterbury and the Surf Coast mega at the same time! How convenient! So off to the airport, onto the plane, and over the ditch I went in search of adventure!
After spending the night in Apollo Bay, I headed out along the coast for the day to explore the area. So many amazing places along the way, I had a ball!! I really enjoyed the walk, it reminded me of NZ a bit. Lots of possible places for the cache, but of course it was in the best spot! TFTC!!!

Found this one on my way over to the Surf Coast Mega, flying first from Peth to Adelaide, then joining Groovy Grape for a three day trip from Adelaide to Melbourne via the Grampians and Great Ocean Road (a trip that had been on my wish list for a long, long time). Had an amazing time with a great group of people, all of whom now know about geocaching and how much fun it can be. I have to admit that I snuck away from them all to grab several caches with none of them being any the wiser, but by the end of the three days they all knew what I was up to and even asking if they could join in the hunt.

The Otway was an area I was particularly looking forward to seeing, and I certainly wasn't disappointed. Beautiful scenery, glorious rainforests, twisting and winding roads, up, down and around, offering a myriad of views in all directions. Loved it all, but this little rainforest walk was the pearl in the crown so to speak. Only wish I could have stayed and explored it more at my own pace, soaking in the magnificence of the ancient trees and lush ferny undergrowth. Who knows, with more time I might have even been able to find that elusive carnivorous black snail.

My new friends (all from overseas and very unlikely to return to this spot) were intrigued and super impressed when I made a small deviation off of the main pathway and found the cache. They all had to take a photo too, to add to their collection of memories of things they saw in Australia.

Thankyou JKFizzle for placing this cache for us all to enjoy finding and for bringing me to such an amazing place. Fav point coming your way.

Two Norwegian travellers on vacation/geocaching in Australia. Travelling by car from Brisbane to Adelaide with stops in interesting and not so interesting places.
Until now: Coolum Beach - Kilcoy, Stanthorpe, Byron Bay, Port Macquire, Nelson Bay, Hunter Valley, Wagga Wagga, Beechworth and Melbourne. After Melbourn we are moving slowly to the west and reached Apollo Beach yesterday. Last night the weather was bad with heavy rain and storm winds. At 12 o'clock today the rain stopped and we headed for Otway Lighthouse. A nice walk through the rainforest to log 'Fern Buddies'. We have never seen such high ferns. In our country the highest ferns are only knee high.

Holidaying in AB so this was a must, as is the walk for so many tourists, and so it should be. There were 7 in our party, all good or aspiring cachers, but we needed all our skill to evade muggles. Finally, after pretending to take so many photos, we had a clear go at gz. Our 2 grandsons are sharp, but their younger sister won out, maybe she's closer to the ground. She was delighted and did well, because this is a great spot for a cache, and l would have needed 10 mins of muggle free searching time. Thanks for this cache, but l wish there were more down here.

So many muggles in this area, had to be patient and wait for an opportunity. Had some issues with signing the log, the ink part fell out of my pen I was carrying and lost it and the others in the cache would not work, so our name was etched as best I could. Beautiful spot, thanks for bringing me here.

We loved the short walk around the rain forest at Maits Rest, despite the fact that we were sharing it with bus loads of muggles. Luckily they tend to stay in their own little groups and did not really care why we were "taking selfies" with jolauso11 (on a GPS that does not have camera function!) near and around this wonderful myrtle beech.
We did find the cache between muggle groups, but it is in a pitiful state: Clearly no longer matching the description of the original container, the pens inside are rusted and the log is sopping wet. We were unable to even use a pen of our own to leave a mark on the wet log, took a photo of it instead.
This cache leads geocachers to a truly beautiful place, but it is in dire need of some owner TLC.

3.5 weeks in Australia, 3300 km on the road and also many by foot, lots of animals - some nice (kangaroos, koalas!) and some less nice (spiders, snakes) -, frosty nights in the Blue Moutains, heavy storms and rainfall, and finally lovely sunny weather at the Gold Coast, many nice and relaxed people: this was a really great holiday in Australia! And not to forget: 80 caches found Smile

First, we stopped here to "just find a cache". However, this place turned out to be a really great rain forest walk. Thanks for showing us!

Honeymoon in Down Under - what a great experience an wonderful time! We were able to travel from Melbourne to Brisbane (including Great Ocean Road, Bendigo, Echuca, Canberra, Blue Mountains, Sydney, Hunter Valley, Port Macquarie and many other great places!) 3,5 weeks in total. Of course we also had to search for some containers and Eclipse-boxes Wink!

Again a proof for Geocaching beeing a great hobby. Who knows if we would have stopped here without this box...

On our holiday, xhead and I travelled some weeks through south and east Australia. We arrived in Melbourne early in the morning with the "``Spirit of Tasmania" coming from Devonport. With our small campervan called "Herbie" we drove along the Great Ocean Road, then coming back to Melbourne again and driving on to Sidney and then Brisbane. We explored a lot of places, beautiful beaches, wild mountains and hidden trails. On our way, we could manage to find one or another geocache . Thanks for hiding all these caches around Australia and greetings from Germany, Akirey

Together with Akirey I spent some weeks in Australia. We drove the Great Ocean Road, visited Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney. We also climbed some mountain loke Mt. Kosciuszko and swam in the ocean. Sometimes we searched for a geocache. This one was one of them we could found. a little cache tour and found some nice caches.

Our current visit to Australia had been in the planning for over a year with the very significant help and advice from friends who live in Melbourne. The original plan was for a 2 month visit, but as things progressed we just couldn't help extending our trip to the full 90 days allowed on our visas - after all it's a big country and so much to see and do, especially with our favourite pastimes being birding, hiking and of course geocaching! We are currently on the first section of our journey, which started with our arrival at Perth airport followed by a day cycling around Rottnest Island before travelling on to Adelaide where we met up with our friends. We then continued on to spend some time on Kangaroo Island. We are currently on route to Melbourne via Goolwa, Strathalbyn, Coorong, Mount Gambier, Cape Bridgewater, the Grampians National Park, Port Campbell, Cape Otway and Lorne (where we are travelling to at present), cramming in as much as possible on route. From Melbourne we head to Tasmania for a few days, then back to Melbourne before setting off to Sydney via Wilson’s Promontory, Lakes Entrance, Mallacoota, Pambula Beach, Thredbo, Canberra and Fitzroy Falls. After a visit to Sydney we will travel on to the Gold Coast, then after spending a few days in the nearby mountainous birding hotspots, followed by an overnight trip to Fraser Island, we will fly from Brisbane to Cairns, visiting yet more good birding sites. We will then drive up to Cape Tribulation before heading back south again to Port Douglas and a day out on the Great Barrier Reef. We then return to Cairns for the flight to Alice Springs, where we will hire a 4x4 camper and set off for a week on the circuit to and from Kings Canyon and Ayers Rock. We then fly to Darwin from where we will spend the last two weeks of our holiday making our way to Broome via Kakadu, Cooinda, Katherine Gorge, Kununarra, Lake Argyle, Emma Gorge, the Bungle Bungle’s and Fitzroy Crossing. Our last two nights in Australia will be spent in Broome before we fly back to Perth, from where we will connect with the flight all the way back home to Zimbabwe via South Africa. We already know we can't wait to return!

This was a nice quick find behind a truly wonderful specimen! Thanks so much to the CO for the cache and for leading us to this stunning location - please have a favourite point.
