It was just lucky for me there were not that many rocks to look under and hardly any Matagouri and very few broken bottles. Found it nicely hidden GPS was 7mts out.
In New Zealand we are now driving over the mountains to our next destination. Here we enjoy the landscape. On the way we stop for a good view or for a cache. Many thanks to all owners and greetings from the Moorhelmi from Germany
The next leg of rattll and my South Island road trip, whatever number this one is. Today, we're starting in Middlemarch, heading up to Ranfurly, then coming back down the Manuherikia River to Alexandra. At Alex, we're keen to complete the adlab series and grab a few extra caches. This was one of them.Having completed the question for the lookout adlab location, we turned our attention to this one. A bit of a hunt, but found eventually. All good in the cache, signed, and returned as found. Tftc!
We are slowly winding our way towards Alexandra and enjoying stopping to pick up caches along the way.Amazing views from here today. It took a bit of searching, but matagouri managed to find it.Thanks for putting this here
A nice break from Queenstown I had today as it's my first time in Alex in ages. Nice view from the lookout today.
beautiful spot for a cache - wouldnt have come here if not for it.A bit of a scramble down to find it - fairly accurate coordinates, easy to spot. Just look out for broken glass and human waste
Walked up from street level past the clock, then up the road to the Observation Point. Most enjoyable and the views at the top were worth it.Shame about all the rubbish at GZ. The cache was a quick find. TFTC.
Great cache surrounded by so much trash right now (sadly - broken glass, a nappy, etc...). Cleared up what we could. Cache looking good - log a bit moldy. Signed by milia.
Well there had to be a cache at this iconic Alexandra spot! Great view, a bit of a scramble. TFTC
Grabbed lunch and then headed up here with Kubabelle to get this cache and the adlab stage. We did some rock scrambling and then noticed a path which was much easier. The cache was hidden well and was a nice find. Have left a TB.Thanks for the cache
Tok a bit of rock scrambling coming down from the top but eventually located close to the coordinates. Thanks for placing here - the views are awesome!
Out bright an early before the sun is shinning on this area meant that it was easy to use the electronics to see my way almost to the cache using tracks. Much easier than taking a more direct route. All good here. Thanks.
31 December 2023. TFTC ingidayna for placing this cache, number 13211 for me. Back in Alex, finishing off the AL. Decided to check out this one as well. Lower option was the way to go. Cache fine, in the 2nd spot I checked (actually the first spot from the other side). Did some CITO on the way back to the car, several bottles and cans are now at the recycling centre.
Out cycling and caching around Alex this morning. A grunt up the hill on the bike but well worth it. Stunning view. I also like the barren real estate out the back. Thanks for bringing us up here. TFTC
After trying to walk down the slope, finally saw the lower walking trail, found the cache around 5 meters away thanks for the cache!
Thanks ingidayna for the cache. Its #1856 for us. We found your cache on Thursday 16 November 2023. A challenge to find but once I was on the lower track, all was revealed!
Got within a few metres. A bit of rock climbing but just couldn’t manage to find it. Next time
Took me 10 minutes to find it as it wasn’t quite in accordance with the hint. TFTC and bringing me up here (accidentally, I was looking for the clock!)
Bit if rock climbing to get to location, returning wasn't so bad as found lower pathway.
Last time we were here, we cycled up here. The cache was not there. Today, we drove up in the motor home. It's such a shame that some losers have to throw beer bottles all around here. We watched daredevil cyclists careening down the hill on the other side - not for me! We clambered down to gz and were pleased to find this. Thanks for bringing us here, ingidayna
Now thats easy access after scrambling down the rocks and dodging all the prickly bushes the cache was soon found a superb panoramic view from herethanjs for the tidy cache
We had to wait a while for muggles to leave before we could search properly. Once we were able to the cache was soon found. Great view, thanks for placing.
The views are great but the rubbish at GZ is not pleasant. FWIW the cache is actually a 400mL snaplock and is visible from the right angle. You don't need to turn over any rocks. A few skinks about which was nice.
Scrambled around for a bit but so many hint objects around and I wasn't really wearing appropriate footwear. Admitted defeat when the others wanted to move on. Great views from lookout!
Had a bit of a look but was generally put off by the broken glass and a used nappy. A muggle came and stayed which sent me on my way. Great views!
Pizza boxes everywhere and drink bottles elsewhere. Pleased I made a quick find.
When did the block get the fancy illumination?

We found it!! Pretty tricky but fun! Just keep your eyes open underneath rocks!!!!
Couldn’t find this one, there was lots of rubbish on the hill & we didn’t want to climb down into it
Back in Alexandra from Roxburgh for another appointment so I'm ready to sign off a few more caches.
Finally got there.
Cheers for the cache.

Cheers for the cache.
Its a great spot up here. One day I'll have more time and come and explore this amazing looking area.
FINALLY..... this cache was not going to get the better of me! Was a nice day to be able to sit and admire the views while the GPS settled. A few scratches got while searching but everything in good dry condition. Tftc
We are out and about in the area finding some caches and enjoying exploring and revisiting other areas again.
When we arrived here we had the place to ourselves so could search unhindered.
Hazedarus found this while I got sidetracked taking in the view.
Thank you ingidayna.

Today is the opposite. Just one Tour Cache in the area but we take what's on offer without bikes and within our capabilities. I should have taken the Garmin rather than my crappy phone. Got there but it took a bit longer. Nice views and a showcase for the mountain biking tracks on offer. Thank you ingidayna
last cache today, rode my e bike up here without too much effort. No cars around and nobody else up here. Cache was quickly found once I figured that it was on a level down.
Amazing views today. Now for a fun ride back down the hill.

GPS tricked us here but eventually found it! Needed the little arms of my 6 year old assistant to grab it once spotted! Gorgeous view up here today
Came to check out this lookout. Bit cool and windy up here but views magic. Got this one snagged and tagged after a short search. Cheers..
Friday 23 October. Oamaru to Alexander today with the Oamaru LABs first up.
Toby, Zara and I are on a 3 week geo adventure of Cromwell, Southland, Catlins, Balclutha with a day in Dunedin and quick stop in Timaru. With Lenny, my trusty navigator and TBD my companion/mascot. we managed to visit lots of green boxes, now happy faces with the odd sad one. Did some LABs , earth caches, virtuals and wherigos, all chucked into the mix to rack up 500 odd caches. Lots of kilometers, lots of exploring and lots of fun. Thanks to all COs for our wonderful experience.

Yay, finally turned this into a Smiley face after a few fruitless searches over the last couple of years (I'm not here often) mostly because of muggles around and no gps. Went at dusk today so had to be careful but no-one around. Took gps with me this time and it was almost spot on. Strangely it was near where I first looked as a beginner cacher. So happy now. Tftc
I just couldn't get a fix on my GPS today and after a considerable and fruitless search I gave up as the area is just too dangerous to be scrambling over the rocks on a wild goose chase. Very frustrating because obviously rocks are in the hint but seriously with so many GZ on my GPS today it could be anywhere and I looked in, under over and through many of these buggers.
Nice view though so worth coming up for that.

Well I made this harder for myself then needed! Then just about walked into a massive spider! Eeekk TFTC! awesome views!
Had to wait as a family of muggle cyclists walked up the hill.
Come here often to enjoy the view.

Took a wee bit to find this one. But got there in the end. Was starting to get cold as the sun went down. TFTC
Gps was bouncing around a bit up here but eventually we narrowed down the location and the cache was retrieved. Signed log and then headed off to another cache. tftc
Been and removed the rubbish with my friend Vicki, after a night in Alex at a friends . It’s nice to be back after some time away.
Cache is in good condition.
Be careful, as some rocks are moveable.

Found with StreetWalker as we explored Alexandra, letting cache hides be our tour guide .
A family was at the Observation Point when we arrived, so I went to the lookout while SW made his way to GZ, hoping no-one was looking as he disappeared over the edge.
Great views from here, and well worth a visit. Thanks for bringing me here and TFTC.

#16917. I was pleased to find GZ was several metres below the platform, out of sight of the muggles above. Quick find once at the right level. After doing the paper work, I went up to the lookou to admire the views. TFTC.
We'd brought my mother- & brother-in-law up here to look at Alexandra in autumn (lovely colours this time of year), and I thought I'd look at C:geo just in case.
30 metres? Okay then!
A bit of a scramble (the geocacher's way - the long way there, the direct route back), smelling the thyme as it got crushed under foot.
I'd just got a call to remind me others were waiting (time to go), to which I admitted I couldn't find it so would head back up... then I saw it. How'd I miss that?
Ah, well, log signed and cache returned.
A CITO might be a good idea up here if any of the local cachers have the time.

On our South Island adventure from Perth WA. A nice easy find with Spuddycakes in tow. TFTC
Great views from up here. A bit of scrambling and a fair bit of persistence had the one in hand after about 5mins.

Have to log a dnf today. Too hard with the kids and heaps of rubbish everywhere. We will be back
While staying in Roxbugh i made a day trip to Al;ex to visit an old friend from many years ago. and so i left really early so i had time to visit some cache that i did not have in Alex.
Interesting about the comments about rubbish around. Well today there was man.. a mountain goat like.. with a bag picking up rubbish around the site. doing a great job - he had walked up! BUT GLass - broken glass on the observation platform and all around the nearby rocks. What a pity Great view and i took a photo of the town from up here which i will post later.
Thank you for this cache and another smiley face.

Just completed the Otago Rail trail and tomorrow we are going to ride the Clutha Gold trail. A rest day in Alexandria walking 18 kilometres and cycling 6 kilometres geocaching. TFTC.
Found without our 2 and 5 y.o. just not suitable for kids with the amount of rubbish around. Luckily coordinates were spot on. Absolutely loved the view and the boards - thanks Lions.
Park and go, nice spot and good to visit again. The rubbish is appalling around this scenic view point.
Tryed in dark but a early morning search tracked it down .
Pick up some rubbish but I need a large truck and trailer
A quick park and grab home from Alexandria picking up a cache or two.
After A early morning start to pick up the younger geo Kids at a camp.
A road trip was in order . Day two
So off we go let,s see where we end up . Annielin in the navigators seat calling the shots with a let's go this way and then let's go that.
A in order nice and dry

On the way back home to collect geokids from a camp... it's been great! .. adult time!!!
Sitting in the navigator's seat, telling downsouthinv where to go, what more could a girl ask for!!
This gz is a disgrace. The youth of Central Otago need to have their butts kicked. Broken bottles, wipes, tissues all sorts of ugghh.
The cachemobile is not large enough and we'd need a whole load of us to have a decent CITO.

Greetings from Tauranga. A great stretch of the legs after doing a few cycling kilometers. Great views. Took a bit of finding, but cache is all good. TFTC
Been here before on caching business, but that one must not have survived the redevelopment. Quite a clamber down to get the cache, but all okay.
A quick find with good accurate coordinates while out and about in the area this afternoon. Always a great view from here! Signed log, TFTC.
In Alexandra for a few days holiday over Easter...a long way driving today from Christchurch. After an evening walk up to the Clock we then drove up to the observation point. Not expecting to be caching at night I just had one torch - which Mr10 wanted...so together we found the torch whilst Mr8 and MrsTG enjoyed the view. Cool spot. Cheers.
Our first trip to Alexandra. The lookout point was a must and visited cache at the same. TFTC.
