We have been advised by our council that the Elm within which this cache resides has been slated for removal, and replacement, due to ill health.

We will replace the cache and log in a V 2.0 when we locate a new hidey hole.

Hmm...Looks like a nightmare on Elm St

Found 13:54 on 1/7/2004

I drive past this point most days when at work... You just never know where a cache will be. Easy to find and retrive ( after waiting for the workers across the road to leave).

Left - Stapler

Found tonight while attending the cache presentation night. Funny thing these caches, you can even find them while out socialising and dining.
Thanks Biggles for this cache and the coffee was perfect.

Not the lodge but a home for an X. Quickly calculated the correct spot and made a swap. Took 1780 Aborininal Doll and left a Wilson’s Prom Key ring. Thanks Biggles.
Clear skies, John.

Woohoo. Thanks for a nice cache for me to find this afternoon and I found it with ease (although being 6 foot tall helped).
I swapped out a knife for a whole bunch of things I hope are considered enough replacement. 2 Dinosaurs, a Hippo a Shark, a Frog, an Eraser and a Pencil Sharpener.
Thanks for a very nice drive on a nice Melbourne arvo.

12-Jun-04
Found pretty easily, the only problem was that I was far too short to reach it. Fortunately, evil_hitman was near and he generously agreed to do the final pluck for me, after I attemped to reach it by standing on a nearby stone and fell short (no pun intended).

Took nothing, left Ernie the hitchhiker from Albury.
Very interesting sticker in a nearby window Big Grin

Thanks Biggles Bear!

06-Jun-04
Found at 11:20am. An interesting spot that we ended up parking alongside. Can't help but wonder if the locals keep peeking out their front window.

Thanks Biggles from D,H,S,K,H & A B-A
Took Mickey Mouse Dollar.
Left Mondo Figurine.

Left swiss army knife and puzzle pen

Thanks for a great cache. my 99th find in fact. now off to find my 100th Very Happy

29-May-04
Found, luckily with Evil_Hitman, cause if i was alone, i would have needed a ladder!!!
This looks like it would be a beautiful area to live in.
Swaps as mentioned by Evil.
Thanks Biggles.

Found easily after getting the details from first location. It was really really funny coz I was spotted by somebody taking the cache. Turns out he is _________ who lives _________ . Funniest cache found ever!

15-May-04
This one was easy to find. We previously tried "Freeway Frustration" but could not find the small thin cache. Gave up after about 30 minutes searching and decided to try a few other nearby caches because our two children were starting to get bored. "Scullin" was the first of three we found today. Yay! Smile

Put in a bag of stars. Took out a Thai(?) two-tone coin.

The kids became excited and wanted to do some more...

21-Apr-04
Grabbed TB Chip to help him on his journey.

20-Apr-04
Found on 20/04/04 at 2020. Feeling a bit frustrated after not finding two caches earlier today, and being in the next suburb I detoured from a trip to the supermarket for a quick cache huntWink.

Found easily, even in the dark. Great location BB Cool!

IN: Jag XK220 Matchbox Car (former resident of "Kill a What?"
OUT: Dufus the Dawg TB (he looks like he needs a trip to the country and was a bit short of oxygen in that ziplock bag)

Chip has arrived with Biggles Bear in her cache via Lynn Schaff who traved to Melborne from Tacoma, Washington and made the delivery. Thanks Lynn!!

04-Apr-04
Found it at 5.43pm after a leisurely walk along a very lovely street. Saw the Aussie geocache sticker stuck on your window, but you were not home and we were really looking forward to an espresso:) btw - we have one of those stickers as well now! Took a small pad lock, left a Coober Pedy souvenir rock.

Thanks BB

04-Apr-04
This was pretty easy (found 7:40pm) because we'd previously found "Crackerjack 2003". We liked the interesting bit of history about a previous Prime Minister - we don't imagine any of the current ones would be happy to live in a normal street. Took toy rocket with masked burglar pilot and left a slimey green lizard. Also left "Dufus, the Dawg" Travel Bug. His owner is worried that he isn't getting enough exercise. It is very cramped in this cache so we would really appreciate someone picking him up soon. His next aim is to go to an Irish pub in Sydney and eventually to Dublin but even a small amount of exercise would be good. This cache seems to have a lot of interstate and international visitors so we are hopeful for poor Dufus.

Another great cache from Biggles Bear and my first for the day. Took space blanket out, put something in but sure can't remember what - it's in the log anyway. I was sure I was going to need the space blanket to wrap my camera backpack in, rain threatening but it didn't happen.

08-Mar-04
After a long hot drive up from the western victoria, found this cache in a great cool spot.Thanx Biggles Bear

05-Mar-04
Found this one with the company of Mikita and Biggles bear. The conversation made me lose count of the trees and the one I picked had a large wasps nest in it. Luckily it was the wrong tree and we found the cache soon enough.
Thanks BB.

Dropped off Beaker Bug TB

29-Feb-04
This is the first of two BB caches for the morning. Having logged "Crackerjack 2003" late last year, this one was a snap! My watch told me it was 1 March, so that's how I signed the log. Sad

IN: Malaysian 2 Ringit note
OUT: Red Arrow TB (which was not logged into the cache [?])

28-Feb-04
Never actually got to the posted site. On my walk in from tram 70 I saw an elm tree with a suitable hole.

Maybe I thought. Eureka. Not sure if I am the first in sixty odd finders.

Great cache. I do like big boxes in the city.

Thanks for the cache.

Left a racing bug to find its way home.

Which has already gone. Sorry for the confusion.

23-Feb-04
Had to stretch our caching ability to get this one.

22-Feb-04
Easy find, just left a 10 baht coin, didn't take anything.

14-Feb-04
Found this one, by myself, at 11:30 on a very, very hot Valentine's Day Razz. I thought it would be best to get it before things really heated up even though it was probably already in the 30s!!!

A great location and a history lesson to boot. Swapped a Federation 50c coin (in) (well, it started at an ex-Prime Ministers place after all Wink) for a Garfield (out).

Thanks BB.

14-Feb-04
Found our second cache today in the heat at approx 3.30pm Took Dragon figurine and replaced with Maccas toy. Young 5yo son is now addicted to geocaching like father !

18-Jan-04
My first geocache! When I first got there I was only using the coords, so didn't know to follow the elms, but then found it! Left a little Garfield thing, took nothing. Thanks!

Maintenance complete cache ready to be found.

Off line for some maintenance.

27-Sep-03
Brought the family along. My son chose to take an HMAS Castlemaine badge. We left US$1 registered with www.wheresgeorge.com and a Fergus the Ferry badge.

21-Sep-03
Found cache after minimal searching. Took little doggy, left commemorative fifty cent piece (it was all we had!)
Thanks Biggles Bear.

18-Sep-03
Found it during the teacher's strike on 17/9/03. We were a bit concerned when we arrived the coordinates as an old house was being pulled down right there. Thought it might have been our target! Brian and Daniel enjoyed counting the trees and we were pleased to sway the golf ball and $2 for a couple of badges (HMAS Castlemaine and Arentina).

06-Sep-03
Found after a short walk. Had to wait for some prospective house buyers to move on then lifted +2 to find the cache. You would have to be tall indeed to do it your self.

Unfortunatly the contents was wet, we dried it out a bit but I would suggest the cache neighbours pop out and give it a service.

TNLN

Thanks Biggles Bear
Pity you were not home.

Found it no probs. It was our first geocache! Had lots of fun. Thanks, JC & Kingo.

26-Jul-03
No stroppy, sleepy possums thank goodness [|)] A good cache, especially the information regarding the housing accommodation of one of our senior ministers. It was all in good condition. Took the blue Skilled keyring and left a rubber ball from the cemetery cache (bit low on Digimons). A LOT of people going back and forth, so tried hard not to look like two trainee ASIO agents, failing their first practical.

An easy find, Geocaching does point out interesting snippets of history.
No exchange made.
Noticed the Geocaching sticker on your front door but no one appeared to be home.
Thanks BB

Cold, wet day - just the day for a cache hunt.
Lots of pedestrian traffic at the site so had to wait until the all clear.
Took model limo & US Quarter. Left bottle opener.
Cache in good nick. Great spot BB.

Found easily enough at 21:30. Still busy with people going to meetings at this time.

Took the duck, left 500 riel.

I am visiting from the states so I hoped onto a tram for the journey to this location. Rather than cross the street, I went down to the river level and went under the bridge. VERY nice down there along the river. Frankly, I was surprised that the cache wasn't some where in this very scenic area. Followed the coordinates, solved the clue, then walked along the elms to the cache. Thanks for the cache. TN L-> Disney Dollar

Well after the gruelling cache event I was invited to go to Biggles Bear's Cave of residence to spruce up for Dinner in Lygons St with some of the other guys. I knew this cache was nearby and it didnt take much convincing by Pete for me to set off and get this one. I started at the end and ended at the start hmmm! Smile Thanks guys for your hospitality. I dont think Lygon st could have handled my after cache event aroma Smile

Noticed the arrival of a long distance traveller, so we nicked out side and brought him inside for a brief rest until he can continue his journey.

Left the Travel Bug GeoMemphis. Only here for the weekend so now, back to Memphis!! Hello Biggles Bear!

Wink

22-Feb-03
We found our first cache with a bit of help from some friends. A great introduction to Geocaching.
Luckily the partner was tall.
Coffee nearby was great too.

We left a rubber ducky and took a clip thingy.
It is getting difficult to fit everything back into the container.

My first Melbourne cache of three for the day, and certainly the easiest. I grabbed the cache in a flash and headed to the nearby park to fill in the log book and do the trade. I swapped an emergency blanket for the St Kilda pin. Cache is now fairly chockers.

Then on the loooooong trek to Fly Away/Round the Bend.

01-Jan-03
Our first geocache! Enthusiasm for my new GPS finally rubbed off to my wife as she bound 10 paces ahead of me to find the treasure. We left a St.Kilda football membership badge 2002 and took a little plastic critter.
Everything was dry and in good condition.

28-Dec-02
We liked the extra spice of counting an ‘offset’ to find this cache. No problems reaching the hole in the tree (Kate did it), but she did comment that something nasty could have been inside.

Pete was so keen to get out and play with the new toy that we left items to exchange behind. Nothing was taken.

There is quite a lot of stuff in the cache and the first time we repacked it the lid did pop off again. Second time round we did a better job. The cache was in good condition and everything was dry.

12-Dec-02
Checked the cache this afternoon to see how it was. The last visitor was an arborist who had been checking the trees and stumbled upon the cache.

Unfortunately the lid of the cache seems to have popped off at some stage and the recent heavy rains soaked the log book ruining almost a years worth of logs. Dried everything out and placed a new log book and pen in the cache.

29-Nov-02
2nd find for the day . Nothing was exchanged.

At times there were too many people around, one woman walking her dog gave us a suspicious look. I wonder what the people who live in the nearby appartments think about cache?

Our First Chache !

I didn't realise how close to where I live this cache actually is ! We have walked past many times, not knowing the secret that lay there. Until I discovered GeoCaching

Took the cute elephant charm, and left an MG F sportscar (sorry biggles, its just a little one)

Nice clue, and a well put together cache, cache was in good nick when found, albeit a little tricky to close up (my packing skills no doubt)

Thanks for setting it up !

First cache for Chris & Julie, found at 16:00. This cache seems to be the first for many people! Especially today.

Great spot. Nice area for a ride. Bring you high heels.

Took computer connectors, left squishy dragon toy. Squeezed everthing back in!

This was a great cache. Took my wife Pam and daughter Rachel with me, and they enjoyed this one very much - a classic cache.
Found the monument without a hitch and then the hiding place was exactly where it was supposed to be.
Left a waterfall thingy
Took the combination lock.
We also liberated the Travel Bug - Deadly Duck: Anger. We'll find him a new home soon after letting him enjoy our company for a whilr.

22-Oct-02
This is either our fourth or fifth cache, can't recall. We are a pair of Americans on our honeymoon in Australia. What better way to celebrate our marriage than a little geocaching??

We dropped off a travel bug, Deadly Duck: Anger. He demanded only the best treatment during his travels, and he has come a long way. We took him with us to Lamington National Forest outside of Brisbane, to Port Douglas up north, and to Alice Springs as well. But he ordered us to leave him somewhere chic, so Melbourne it was.

We took a keychain. Liked the spot, easy for a couple of foreigners. (Our other attempt in the Melbourne area was not so successful).

[Thanks! This was our first find and an excellent beginners cache. There was some suspense as my 3yr old daughter counted down the trees. I sat her on my shoulders to retreive the cache and she was thrilled.
She took the Barbie eggcup and left a small collection of US and Canadian coins]

It looks like the council is doing some work on the monument. When we arrived the area around the steps was fenced off with tape and a half metre deep hole full of water had been dug at the bottom stair.

16-Aug-02
A quick trip out front to pick up Roundball Rowdie.

15-Aug-02
This is just a quick note to advise that Biggles Bear have taken part in a travel bug exchange program. Roundball Rowdie, has made the trip down from just outside of the Toronto, Canada area.

He will now get the chance to visit in your area.

Good Luck

Larry & Sharon

Yay!
My very 1st Geocache!
Very easy to find, a nice 'Melbourne' day.
Nice area too.
Took Mirror, left golf ball.

04-Aug-02
Found at 14:00.

Another beautiful winter's day in Melbourne, and what better way to spend it than a brief history lesson, a successful Geocache hunt, followed by a delicious hot chocolate and cake at a local cafe.

I'm fairly short so had a bit of difficulty reaching the cache, if it wasn't for the well placed rock, probably wouldn't have got it.

Left a combination lock and took the currency convertor.

Last one for the day ... when you start having trouble remember what you've left and where, you've had enough!!

Lovely location, even at this time of year - found the spot soon enough but needed a little assistance to reach! Swapped a currency calculator for an old English penny.

We heard a rumour that you actually live within sight of this cache - did you see us?

Thanks for another great cache Biggles Bear...

This is an excellent first cache to find, quiet area and easy to get to. I visited the cache with my mate Dan and exchanged the knight fridge magnet for an elephant key chain.

07-May-02
Found at 1115 by Mary & David, our second Biggles Bear cache this morning. After locating the correct tree quite quickly, we had to wait nearby for a while until assorted passers by cleared the area, or at least moved out of line-of-sight. Retrieved the cache, took Loch Ness magnet, and left a Knight magnet. Another stealth exercise to replace the cache in its rightful place. Thanks again to Biggles Bear.

04-May-02
Coop has flown the coop Smile! Grabbed him early this morning - the first travel bug I've seen in Victoria!

01-May-02
After a quick flight to Melbourne with Biggles Bear, and having spent a couple of days exploring in his company, Biggles Bear has left Coop's to continue his journey alone, with a souvenir of his visit to Melbourne.

28-Apr-02
Thanks Biggles Bear - not only was the cache where it should have been, but we have learnt a little bit more about Melbourne's heritage. The rock was essential to access the cache, and it appears that the lid has come apart from the container - some water is getting in. It will take someone taller than me to reach into the hollow in the tree and retrieve the lid. The items are well-protected in plastic bags. Took the SES fridge magnet and left a small pink mirror picked up around the bend.
Thanks again - Dashing Dog Mac.

21-Apr-02
After several wrong turns in the car I fluked a street very close to the cache. Co-ords led me straight to the plaque, then an easy walk to the tree. Fortunately there was a rock in the garden for me to stand on (being only 163cm I might have had some problems!!), making it easy to obtain.
Took the train and left a squeaky sheep.

10-Apr-02
Our first night time cache, and weren't we happy!!!
Did this on our way to the casino one night. Found the plaque fairly easy and worked out the clue. Went to the correct elm and bingo!!! What a great spot..... Not for the short people.
Took the mobile phone case and left a puzzle along with some SES stuff.

06-Apr-02
Found by Maya and Ray (Nomads) at 12:20PM on Saturday the 6th of April 2002, our second for the day. Easy to find, but somewhat more difficult to retrieve and replace without being observed, there were lots of people out walking their dogs. Wonder who'se benefit that was for? Both Maya and I were to short to retrieve the cache from its hidey-hole so I had to give Maya a boost up, unfortunately I dropped her on the way down so she ended up in the plants. Maya was not ammused. After we had completed the formalities of swapping accusations and insults we swapped a mobile phone cover, which we found in ELVIS last week end, for the Japanese lucky charm. Apparently Maya did not think the charm was powerfull enough as she declined to replace the cache, so I had to jump up and drop the cache in its nest. The cache was in good condition. Thanks, Ray and Maya

06-Apr-02
The cache was found without any difficulty. The height was no problem. There were no passersby so retrieving the cache was easy. I took the frogs left by team frogger. (This is the second time I have been lucky enough to be able to do so). I left a Fridge Magnet from Loch Ness.

01-Apr-02
A nice and easy cache to find, and the junior member of Team Frogger enjoyed the quick carry on my shoulders to retrieve the cache. There was a fair amount of pedestrian traffic passing, perhaps due to it being a public holiday.
Took the little radio and left some frogs.

Team Frogger

29-Mar-02
Should have heeded the warning about height, had to jump up a few times to get the cache.

Took the yoyo, left car alarm warning stickers, jumper strips.

Very imaginative cache location.

11-Mar-02
Easy one found by John and Tony (with Brock the dog) after a short walk. Left a AM/FM radio and took the Peter Rabbit book.

09-Mar-02
Clever location for a cache. Clues were easy to follow. Took nothing, left nothing.

02-Mar-02
Easy enough to find, but how to get to it without people seeing! There was some function on at the school opposite and people were milling around. I got it out, but almost as soon as I started writing in the log book, people came out of the house behind and started chatting around their car! They must've thought I looked very suspicious. I had to walk away with the cache and return it 10 minutes later. Took nothing, left an old penny.

02-Mar-02
Nice and easy to find. I took note of the warning for undertall people such as myself and brought a small step ladder with me. As it turns out, I definately needed it! I took the 1000 wan note and replaced it with a Beatrix Potter book.

27-Feb-02
Found very easily at 3.00pm. The timing was bad as kids were just starting to pour out of the nearby school but we managed retrieve and replace the cache unobserved. Nothing exchanged. Greg and Bev

Found this one very easily,
I had to be carefull when finding this cache due to the amount of people and traffic around in the area.
I was also a bit worried about putting my hand into a hole that you cant see into.

No exchange
