Logs
My last cache of the day before heading to work. Took me a bit to find this and the hint helped but my mobile gos was about 10m off. The log was wet and I couldnt stamp or sign it so I took a photo of the log and container. Thanks again Paul_the_Hippy.
Very waterlogged. I emptied the cache of water but paper is drenched. Amazing spot though
Very wet log at the time ...No spares sorry, and clearly forgot to log it until now.STUNNING AREA , i was up here for a bit of a 4wd day.Gotta love Victorian forests ..Just a shame we cut so much of it down many moons ago. TFTC
Beautiful location. Be careful when wet, roads used by log trucks also.
Thank you!
Thank you!
Thanks for the Cache Paul the Hippy,
Found in Good ;Condition, Would have loved to see the actual Furmston Tree.

Caching towards #6,500 with +Wife and our GeoMutts, EveTheStaffy and MaxTheCollie.
After finding your big one back up the road we stopped here for yet another easy find.
I can't understand why it has been so long since the last visitor.
Such a great area to visit and some magnificent trees to admire.
Not sure why they say "tall poppy syndrome" I'm thinking "Mountain Ash Syndrome" seems more appropriate. [;(]
Thank you for placing caches in great spots for our caching enjoyment Paul.
Always a pleasure to find.
Cache in good order. Took nothing (except photos and memories) ; left nothing (but a few footprints) .

A beautiful winters day so Spiffy- and my geopartner headout out. Mt St Leonard was the target location as I had never been and it is visible from home.
Arriving at GZ and spotted something on arrival and the cache was revealed.
Thanks to Paul_the_Hippy for the placement and fun.

Found at 2:32 pm.
It was a beautiful winters day and Fleabag- has had a recent inkling to climb mountains for some reason. I was glad this one wasn't a 12km walk like a couple of weeks ago. Gladly, later in the day I was very glad to have brought 4WD as we drove my deeper into the forest after this fun trip up Mt St Leonard. Some quite slippery muddy rutted sections further in.
As we parked for this one a group of P-Plated 4WD'ers cruised past and waved. We then started the search and Fleabag came up with the find on this one.
Thanks Paul_the_Hippy for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Record book while moist didn’t need replacing. Check out the tree that I now know isn’t anywhere near the furnishings tree.
A light drizzle up here today, which made for wet grass and therefore wet feet! The cache was found without too much hassle. The container had a bit of water in the bottom, but the log was only damp in its ziplock bag. A bit of drying out, and a covering of bark to stop the rain getting in. Beautiful country around here.
All awesome caches, cheers Paul the hippy!
We tried to dry out the containers a bit.
We tried to dry out the containers a bit.
We quickly found this cache today, however it was full of water. The log was still dry, thanks to the zip lock. We emptied out the water, so the cache is good to stay as it is. Thanks so much for placing this cache, Paul_the_Hippy, in such an awesome location!
A full day of caching and this was only our second find. Beautiful area with magnificent gums.
Thanks Paul_the_Hippy for the placement.
Thanks Paul_the_Hippy for the placement.
After taking 6 hours to get a single cache we were glad to find a quick drive-by.
Some massive trees around here indeed, and we 100% find GZ !
Thanks Paul_the_Hippy.

Thanks Paul_the_Hippy.
Always nice for a nice drive out bush in these parts, especially a park and grab after a big day. Thanks PTH!
Took a while looking around GZ to find it. However, eventually found it in its well hidden spot. Log was quite wet.
Could be a tricky one. But then it might not be. Gave it a good 30mins before calling it quits and finding a couple leeches on my pants!
The day had turned into the cold but otherwise suitable day for caching that was forecast and so after some lunch in Toolangi, I set off into the Toolangi Forest for the caches I had specifically planned to look for. Using the theory of finding the furthest cache first, I had driven well past this cache as I made my way along Monda Road and stopped for it on my way back. This one took a little while to find in among these huge trees. Anyway, I did eventually find the cache and signed the log .

I headed out early today with SteMicMitSar to target a group of Letter box caches that were of particular interest to us. The sight of more fantastic trees greeted us all around this cache. Steve made the find and then we were on to the next.

Today I headed out with biggles1024 in search of a few letterbox caches but before we got to those we made a detour and found a few along this road.
We parked up the road a little and walked back to this one, this time my GPSr was pointing to the right spot and the cache was found.

This was an easier cache to find as the co-ords were much closer to reality. It just took a little bit of looking to locate, as it was well covered with local camo. The cache was retrieved, log was signed and all was returned to where it was found. Many thanks to Paul_the_Hippy for placing this cache and for bringing us to do some travelling today along these forest roads.
I remember being in this pleasant area and going searching for this one but don't have any particular recollection of actually laying my hands on it. My c:geo list and jimbo_80 both indicate that I did though, so I'm prepared to believe them. Thanks Paul_the_Hippy for the cache and for prompting me to look up images of the Furmston Tree!
That's so cool that the tallest tree on earth was here, not far from home!
We had a search around but my GPS bounced around quite a bit, soon after BendSinister yelled "found it!"
Thanks for bringing us here

Me and the kids searched for ages to no avail. Was quite wet and very over grown.
Really glad to find this one as I have a DNF on last one. Being a big day out very hungry now. Glad to get this smile. Now time for a beer and something to eat. This is one perfect summer day
Found with Martin from Team Justice and another friend, Con, after walking the Tanglefoot trail. The thing about caching with Martin, is he really loves to find the caches first, and gets ever so slightly pouty when someone else lands the find. While it is true that Con pointed to the approximate area this cache is hidden and said "how about there"... I actually made the find.. and did a little happy dance.. which may have possibly provoked Martin to write a somewhat altered history in his log.
Wonderful place and thanks for the tree history Paul... such a shame all of those grand old trees are now gone. TFTC!

Post our walk around Tanglefoot, we had to go attempt to find this one. There was a DNF but being so close we had to give it a try. We found the spot and started to search where the GPS put us to. It was Con who found it a little bit off from where we were looking. Cache in good order.
Found by Team Justice #1440.

Up in the area to visit the parents. A cold and foggy day but one of the kids was still sleeping in the car so thought we'd venture a bit further in the car to give her a bit more sleeping time. The husband found it this time. Great spot!
Found this one sitting in the open. Signed the damp log and put cache back with some camo. Tnln, Tftc:-)
Out on a recon mission for a nearby cache early Wednesday morning and also grabbing a couple of additional caches along the way.
Picked this up on the way back from my research trip, quick find and now I'm on my way back towards Narre Warren but first I will stop at a nearby cafe for a coffee.
Thanks for placing this cache Paul_the_Hippy

That certainly is/was one heck of a big tree. I know things were done differently in the past, but it still sad to see the remnants of these old forest giants with not a single one left standing for us to gaze at in wonder and awe. The cache itself was and easy find, but it looked more like a mini swimming pool today with about 2cm of water inside. We drained and dried it as best we could and fortunately the log was still quite usable despite being moderately damp. Thanks Paul for bringing us here and thanks for the cache, and thanks for the always interesting information we have come to expect from your caches.
A lovely day to go out walking in the hills. I picked this area as its not too far from home. Nice tracks and years since i have hiked around here. Thanks for all the caches around. Most were in good condition. Some flooded though i drained all the water and tried to dry the log books out. They all look like they will be fine. Cheers
Out this morning at silly o'clock with poptoppete doing a little hiking and light 4x4 driving. What a wonderful spot to escape, the views were fantastic, love looking down on clouds in the valleys, could just see the city at times and a few Roos/wallabies scampering around. Thanks for the adventure. Tftc
Found with Gunks during early morning hike.
Beautiful views with mist in the valleys.

Took a while to find this cache, went from tree to tree to tree until my geo/gf found this one while I was channelling through other people's log visits to try find some more clues Last find for the day, gotta head back for dinner. Thanks for the hide once again Paul
Another fantastic example of some beautiful creation. Thanks for the hide and showing us these amazing trees.
It is a lovely day to be out and about grabbing some caches with other geo family. Thanks again Paul.
Doing a reci for a future 4WD club trip. Great location. Looking forward to caching in this new area on an awesome day. Falling in love with this area...thank you so much for showing me this area. It is truly beautiful. TFTC
A great day of 4wd geocaching with Bonny Black. I have ridden (mtb) past all these caches in a previous life as a muggle. Thanks Paul for this series of caches.
Today we explored Black Range State Park and surrounds using geocaching as a guide.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Another good find and my last for the day. Having encountered a tiger snake at the last cache, I was glad to make this last find and get out of there. Thanks Paul I've had a good couple of hours on Mt St Leonards.
Logie and I continued our Toolangi tour on our way home. This may be the last for the day. TFTH and getting us back out in the forest.

In the area and this one was next. Parked about 50m away from GZ when the GPSr was slow counting down and I thought I was directly opposite the cache! Which actually turned out to be useful as there was a good gap between a tree and the fence which saved me a clamber through it! Walked up to GZ where the caches was found quickly and what a tree! Thanks Paul
This was the last one before turning the nose towards home. It had me going for a few moments but I finally found it at 16:26 after venturing in a little further than the hint indicated.
TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks Paul_the_Hippy.

Found while trying out my new phone/GPS. I work with a Furmston who is related to the original tree's finder. Small world. Thanks Paul.
The weather was starting to close in and the rain drops were getting bigger under the tree canopy. Found after a bit of poking about, thanks again Paul the Hippy and for highlighting these amazing giants.
Nice easy find, thanks Paul, great spot.

Find #1164 logged at GZ at 14:17.
Knowing that the CO was on duty at the fire spotting tower, I headed up this way for the day to say hello. I needed a day with a lot of green around me. It was hot and humid in the city, but up in the hills it was perfect. The drive across from the Melba Hwy just got better with every curve and turn. I arrived to an idyllic site that was lush and quiet. Then while getting the two caches off the roadside, a massive timber truck rumbled through. They are cutting more trees up here....
Thanks not only for the cache, but for being there Paul_the_Hippy!

This was a fairly quick find in a magnificent location. The tree is massive and eye catching. looking around the GZ location we found the cache in a nice hiding spot. TFTC
A pretty similar find to my last one really! Tricky gps finding, lots of monster trees, then the approach in... TFTC!
Found at 12.55pm on a lovely forest drive,
We are in awe of the tall timber in this forest.
Truly spectacular.

6th find in the Mt St Leonard vicinity today. This one was a bit quicker. Left some weird kids toy sunglasses. If you can work out what they're for, good luck! Thanks for the cache.
Back in my 2x2 again I headed further bush in search of anoter 5 caches.. wow how time can get away.. Thanks Paul for this cache, one of half a dozen or so of yours I got today on this around and about drive home... I was able to mostly park and grab occasionaly with the engine running.. would love to be in here on my mountain bike.. however it'd be hard work.. Thanks for the cache and Find #3260
Found while touring the area with Pprass, after checking a few trees we finally came across the cache, to be honest it did not look that big and i guess the debate goes on as to where the tallest tree really is so many different claims. Thanks for the cache.
Found at 11:22 AM GAFF5 in the company of Rebel Acts. They are quite large trees indeed, but as for being the biggest on earth - well that is up for debate. In NSW we have the Bird Tree which is also deemed to be the biggest.
We went from one tree to another until we located the cache.
Thanks Paul_the_Hippy

I was heading up to Cobram / Tocumwal on the border to visit family and friends for a few days and checked out the caches along the route I was going to take this time round. Spotted a few unfound caches and a good run of trads in the Toolangi Black Range State Forest so decided that spot would be my first stop along the way.
I hadn't been here before and it was a great area to drive around in. It turned out to be a bit more of an adventure than expected with me passing a rave party along the way in and puncturing a tyre on the way out, then trying to find a good place to change the tyre; all in a days caching.
Hopefully this area will last long enough for us to see Mountain Ash Eucalypts reach the scaling heights they have done before. Took a little while, but found the cache and signed the log.
Thanks for the hide.
