Wandering around the blue bush scrub looking for something special. Another one that hasnt been found for over a year. All good here . Thanks for the hide Tftc
Out n about with iluvtrekking on a damp and chilly morning. Loved the camo - best today. Thanks fishing mad.
Found while visiting Whyalla for a few days with Team Waldron and TeamAstro, with the aim of finding as many caches as possible in Whyalla and surrounds. Day 1 saw us travel up from Adelaide and tour the very scenic coastline around Port Bonython and Point Lowly. On Day 2 we headed out to the Fill In The Gaps (FITG) series, then to Iron Knob and back via the First To Find Power Trail (FTF PT) series. On Day 3 we cached in and around the City of Whyalla, and on Day 4 we made our way out to Whyalla Conservation Park before heading for home. Thanks for the cache fishingmad!
Away for a few days with Featherwaite and Team Astro.
The plan was to get all the whyalla caches as well as the FTF series and the FITG caches.
Nearly got them all, just a few left for next time.
A quick find

Another cache found during our 2022 South Australia Adventure using Geocaching as our guide.
We had a great time today driving some of the numerous 4WD tracks around Whyalla. Most.

One last day for now around Whyalla, the steel city, home of the rusty mint tin...
and found a few clever caches too
Another day of exploring places we otherwise may not have been!
Came to your cache along the way
Those thorns can certainly do a lot of damage!!
Much thanks to fishingmad for placing and maintaining this cache on our SA geo game map
---
Searching with Purrfect Di and Jack the Monkey, finding and signing cache logs alone or with family and friends using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Whereyougo, Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S21u, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just plain old dumb luck Plenty of that luck stuff actually!!!
*Logs are composed and published using GSAK of course.*
A couple of maintenance assist tasks on the trail caches too. Looked like there had been some extreme weather since we were here last... oh yep, the floods the day after we left!!!
---
Caching is a hazardous activity!
Keep a lookout for sand traps, snakes, surprise cliffs, boxing roos, wombats, bulldust, and floods,
try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins and don't fall out of trees...
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- but especially lookout for any old bugs from alpha to omega !!! . [xx(]
Try to keep Travel Bugs as the only bugs you share and pass on
Now everything's opening more - even more important to sanitise and safely distance!!!
Really good of all those placing quality caches out and about around the countryside areas,
in sensible safe places especially! - it keeps our game safe, fun, and interesting
Thanks heaps for reading all this addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere, apparently! You win a virtual smile for the effort and getting to the end of the log

Full time nomads since 2013. Still tootling around the country trying to avoid Covid hotspots.
Back in SA for harvest work. Heading to Port Pirie but 4 days ahead of schedule so a quick detour to Whyalla was in order. Headed out early today with lunch hoping to convert some to Not altogether successful, but still managed 39finds from 41 hunts.

Found with hevwalker on a much cooler day..... we finished the caches we had planned to do at the Conservation Park today due to the high temps and Fire Ban yesterday. Thought we would get some more in town.....This one was back in the back tracks so off we go again .......we have got lots of these whilst here in Whyalla....today during the day....so glad we have a satellite setting on the geocaching app we might of been going around in circles...lol...we parked as close as we could and took off on foot....we walked around GZ searching under bushes and a tree no luck.....I spotted something and I had a thought......really could it be hidden there.....yes, very tricky....signed and placed back exactly as found. Fav point for tricky hide and creative thinking. TFTC
In Whyalla on a 5 day mini break with scramping caching the area while doing some sightseeing...
It has been interesting and sometimes a challenge getting around the back-roads but managed to navigate our way to a couple in this area...
I overlooked what I thought was junk near a tree but then scramping took a closer look...doh!!! look at the cache name

This weekend, I headed to Whyalla to catch up with a few other Geocachers and attempt some of the trails there. On Saturday, we targeted the FTF power trail from Whyalla to Iron Knob, and then spent the evening and the subsequent morning driving some of Whyalla's back tracks. On Sunday, I visited Cowleds Landing and back north, only to get severely bogged in one of Whyalla's clay pans. I then returned home via the August series.
Today, we started the day at a meet/greet breakfast event, and then I headed out with hevwalker and scramping for a few more geocaches south-west of Whyalla along the back tracks and main road, followed by the December trail series. I then continued south visiting Cowleds Landing and the proclaimed nudist beach. I next found *Potty Time*, only to realise that I had driven on the nearby clay pans, and then sank into the soft clay below on my way out. Eventually I had help in getting out, and finished my remaining time in Whyalla completing the pipeline August series, and calling into Whyalla Conservation Park for a few high favourite caches. I then made the long journey back to Adelaide stopping at a few miscellaneous geocaches along the way.
I didn't have my MTB with me this trip, otherwise I would have given this area a try. However, it was 43°C, and so was in my air condition vehicle as much as possible in this middle part of the day. So I ended up following the tracks that I could see in Google Earth as much as possible, driving as close as possible to GZ. I initially anticipated another track to take me closer, that looked to be only thin enough for a bike (Google Maps doesn't seem to distinguish single from vehicle tracks around here), so I needed to take a full loop around GZ, and ended up parking 200 m away. From there, it was a 200 m jog to GZ, and at least there were a few small trees that I could shelter under from the sun. I initially dismissed the object that contained the cache, until further thinking about this cache and performing a more detailed search, and sure enough, the sneaky cache was found. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Qutie the unique style of hide! Thanks fishingmad for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

On my regular {On this 4-Day Caching Adventure, anyway} evening walk.
I needed a cache or two nearby after knocking two off on the last 2 nights [14 and 15th of June] with some bevvies in, prior to the walk to make it all so much more 'fun' lol
The 'object' which i'm so familiar with as a cyclist too, was spotted and it's moist log [:o] was extracted and signed.... just! any wetter and i'd have been outta luck.
SL at 16:11 on Sunday the 16th of June 2019 [with 3 golf-balls in my bag already lol]

This is one very neglected cache.A bit nibbled on the edges. The next golfer with a really bad hook might appreciate what we left.
Not many finders here Fishingmad.

Decided have a nice walk in the bushland - Rides 1, 2 and 4 - three of them need TLC as most of them damaged - need urgent before rain coming. Thanks fishingmad.
Found by Mary & David at 0850. For oldies from the 'burbs, walking through this vegetation accompanied by magpie melodies, seeing the footprints of kangaroos, crunching through while snail shells is a joy. Great camo that fits into the story. Hope you are still whizzing on. A FP from us. Our thanks to fishingmad.
Nice hide, lid has come off container so log is difficult to remove. Needs maintenance. TFTC
On my bike ride today, I was thinking how nice it is riding around Whyalla
I've not had a puncture !!
You are so lucky that you don't have those pesky 'three corner jacks' that they do in Adelaide [^]
So it turns out one of the few ways to get a puncture along these sandy trails, is to ride through a bush [:o]
At my riding pace, it is difficult to leave the trail though
TFTC in an appropriate container [^]

Found while caching with Jeffrey11, Team Pedal Pushers, Sars12 and Whites on Windsor. TFTC.
TFTC OUT WITH JEFFEDDY, jeffrey11, wow, SARS 12. Great day for caching. Thanks again. So nice to be out in the sunshine on this beautiful long week end. What a great cache!! Fantastic!!
Drove to Whyalla, to pick up some caches that we missed on our last visit.
Caught up with friends, went out for dinner before driving back to Port Augusta.
Loved the camo, unfortunately the lid is missing. A favourite point from us.
Many thanks for the hunt today, fishingmad.

This was our 4th cache find in a caching run of 23 Finds & 1 DNFs today.
We found it at 10:55 so this now makes our total find count 8247.

We have finished out Grey Nomad tour of Western Australia and are staying in Whyalla for awhile before heading off to Murray Bridge to attend the "Oz Mega 2014 Murray Bridge" over Easter.
Today was another relaxing day caching around town. There are enough vehicle tracks around here, but we opted to walk to this one.
[/blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: Excellent (We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.)
Cache Condition: Container needs a new lid. The log book is in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Nothing.
Thanks fishingmad for the hunt today.

I was really headed home today from a fantastic long weekend with the group on The Hunt for PMB16!!
I had stayed in Whyalla last night and today had the honor of being shown around some of the town's caches by fishingmad and his lovely geodaughter in the morning , then doing more on my own in the afternoon before leaving town for Adelaide.
All in all, 108 successful locus cache events and 3 DNFs for the 5 days away
Is there anything harder than trying to find a cache with the CO watching you[?]
I really enjoyed this series and discovered last weekend that there is a clone of this in Adelaide's southern suburbs, which I will now have to try and get down there to do
Loved the concept here [^]

Taking an out of towner and now a new friend around and showing them a few of our local caches, giving me an opportunity for a quick check on the cache, it is all good plus a TB visit too.
I can see why this area is one of your favourite rides. Very cool container matching the description! TFTC
We got sick of hearing about Freddo's flats. The strange thing is that he had Cooper tyres. I've never had one and run the same tyres. Go figure.
Thanks to fishingmad and clear skies from TeamAstro.

No flats today. Although I have had 3 flat tyres in the past 2 weeks. The patch cord kit is getting a work out.
Out for a morning with TeamAstro and Freddo. Nice easy find. Thanks fishingmad TFTC
Very inventive Cache Container, so glad Geodaughter has little fingers. another cleanup on Good Friday. TFTC
I was with fishingmad when this one was placed so I just need to claim the find to clean up my map.
I had an email from a recent finder who told me that it wasn't where I had placed it but a few meters away. So I went back this morning after work and widened my search even further and found it about 10-12m from the original location, I suspect it may have been moved by a fox or a cat. So I have placed it in the new location and secured it a bit better. At least now I have a spare cache container hmmm... Flat Tyre 2?

Have had to move the cache due to a recent muggling, it is now at the base of a small dead tree in some shrubbery. It is still visible as you get near it so no gardening is required.

Found this cache first up but discounted its cunning construction as not-a-cache. Went around in circles for a while before taking a LDE* and realising the error of my ways.

Nice easy find at GZ. We weren't gonna risk flat tyres, so walked instead....aside from not all having bikes. TFTC and series.
Very clever cache hide, I had a laugh when this one was found. I brought the Yamaha out to try these tracks but theyre too tight for the power and size and I ended up going bush more than usual.
I got this one pretty quickly..as soon as YR80 told me the clue, but all I really had to do was follow the Geotrails.
