Find number 12652 at 10:33:34am on Tuesday the 7 November 2023I was up at Goughs Bay for the weekend and one of my tasks for the following few days were to finish off the basketball series, with only 10 to do it shouldn't take too long, I just need to pull the finger out and get up to Everton. The plan for today is to finish off the series and grab a few more targetted caches around the area.A nice quick find as I head down to my real target **Thanks for placing this cache BettyBoo3747**---If you are looking for some new caches to find, explore the nominees for the 2022 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards. The Nominations Geocaching List is available [here](https://coord.info/BMC8QYR)!Voting is now closed for the 2022 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards and the awards event will be posted soon

We are zigzagging around the state colllecting LGAs and dipped into the Alpine Shire to grab this cache. It's been a long day and we don't have time to explore but this is stunning country and we plan to return at some point and spend more time out here. We parked nearby and cache was quickly spotted. Tftc

26-Oct-23
Chook joined forces with The Tritonz and headed to Wangaratta for a couple of days, with the main targets being to find a few solved puzzles and tackle the HSS Basketball Geoart before it gets archived soon.Chook finally made it up the hill to Taylors Gap. But not before the hard slog of trying to ride a fair bit of it with a jammed brake slowing things down. That will teach her to check things properly before hopping on! So rusty with this bike riding caper but nevertheless she is not put off to do it again. At least it's downhill a bit after this. TFTC BettyBoo3747.

26-Oct-23
With the Geelong Cup and an RDO up our sleeve, it was time to head up north in the great company of chooknchunk for a midweek getaway and finally try and complete the HSS Series before the CO finally says goodbye to the Basketball geoart forever.Today, after a good nights sleep, we tackled the next leg of the series on the rail trail. The fit Triton and chook started down at Gapsted Cricket Ground to be met with a very steep hill, which couldnt be avoided, so a slow and steady trip was made for the first 7 mystery caches before reaching the top at Taylors Gap, then a nice downhill run helped pick up their momentum. After that it was an easy run (especially after chook released her brake cable that was caught on, oops) collecting each solved puzzle as well as the M2M trad series. Many of the hides were much trickier than we expected, needing 2 sets of eyes to scope them out. With 2 missing, and with the CO's permission, replacement caches were used as well as wet logs replaced. That should be enough to get the series through to the end.A quick walk up the embankment to reach this cache. Thanks BettyBoo3747 for the M2M series placement.

Day 2 of the B2B walk. If you haven't heard of it, I would suggest you get on google. It's a wonderful event which I can say I am very proud to have been a participant and I'll definitely be back.
This 3 day event takes you from Beechworth to Bright in 3 days.
Geocaching was just a very tiny part of the fun. From meeting new people to hearing amazing stories, from amazing scenery to seeing wildlife (which I didn't see), it was a weekend that will remain with me forever.
By the end of the day I think I was known as the lady who keeps going into the bush (nature calls). My daughter at first was a little embarrassed but then thought it was a good laugh. It did spark up a conversation and it was a great opportunity for others to learn about geocaching
I walked past many caches and I could feel my fingers twitching but I knew I would return another time to grab some more.
TFTC I will be back soon

25-Mar-23
While walking from Everton to Myrtleford (Day 2 of the B2B, Beechworth to Bright Walk for Suicide Awareness #walktalksupport) I took the opportunity to grab a few caches along the way without raising too much attention with the other walkers #fail. It ended up being a good opportunity to explain geocaching to a lot of curious people. I'm sure we'll gain some new cachers from it. Nice hide, fantastic series. TFTC

#17233 - 12:15:00 PM; Headed back to Melbourne to pick up the geomum and took a short detour to add another County/LGA to the found list. This was the first stop and although some of the recent logs had me a little nervous, a thorough examination once I reached GZ produced the goods. A little larger than I'd expected! Nice one to kick off the mission. TFTC BettyBoo3747 Smile

Out with the family caching today. Started the morning with picking up a few of the HSS series in Murmungee, then onto Nug Nug, lunch at Lake Buffalo then drove Goldies Spur track and took in the amazing views of the Vic high country. Finished off the loop around Mt Buffalo at Myrtleford.

Homebound now. Picking a few up along the way. Looks like this old track hasn't been used in a long time.

DNF Sad No luck here today, too good for me.

Maybe a case of cache blindness, but I spent way way way too long on the post n rail. Decided a 1.5 wasn't worth any more time day. Maybe another time perhaps.

Doing a big maintenance run today and this one needed checking. Cache found exactly where it should be and in good condition. Last found in August but not yet logged by those people.

Approaching from the East and having crossed the road, our hearts sank when we saw some cyclists having a break at the shelter, but soon our hearts rose again as the cache is nowhere near there. We pushed our bikes up a little slope, out of harm's way. Kung-Fu-danced the spider webs where we could not walk around them and then the search began. No idea why, but it took us some 10 minutes before we could record our names in the guest book.
We thank you whole-heartedly, Betty Boo, for all the smiles you created for us this week! Your region is stunning, and you showcase it beautifully.

Wangaratta Mega
Day Four: a bit of everything.

I’ve decided to head towards Myrtleford just as far as the border with Alpine LGA to continue my push towards 272 LGAs by the end of this year.

A quick find here.

Thanks for the cache and series BettyBoo3747.

17-Jan-22
With the Mega festivities over it was time to head out of Wangaratta for a second day and hit the trails. With no others about we were on our own today although we did bump into others on our travels.
It was not so hot today and quite overcast. Ideal for caching. We drove to many, but also walked sections of the trails. We will return and ride much more when the weather is cooler.
By far the majority of caches were in good condition with most coordinates good although a few had us searching widely. We think some of our coords on caches without checkers however are incorrect. Back to the drawing board with those!
Our sincere thanks to the local cachers who have put in mammoth efforts in developing the copious number of caches in the area and maintaining them so effectively. Your efforts are appreciated.

16-Jan-22
Found while attending the 2022 Mega event at Wangaratta.

I drove across from Adelaide with Freddo. We took a week to get there and back as we meandered our way around northern Victoria, camping mostly along the river and generally avoiding contact with other people as far as possible to minimise covid risks.

While at the Mega we teamed up with gridge98 & Co. Most logs were signed FEGC (ie Freddo, e.gregory1 and gridge98 & Co).

We targeted some specific caches of interest, but also took the opportunity to find other random caches opportunistically as we were passing. Most of the puzzle caches were solved prior to leaving Adelaide in preparation for the trip.

Although we managed to find a lot of caches over the weekend, we really only barely scratched the surface, leaving plenty of excuses to return to the area another time. I'm sure I'll be back.

Thanks BettyBoo3747 for the cache.

Another day having a 'Ball' in this area today with RoddyC, hatsofff & grannysmith1947 (signing as Team 44 QLD) to continue on with the HSS series as well as picking up a few solved puzzles, multis, letterboxes & trads along the way.
Most caches were found in great condition and were easily enough to spot, we also appreciate all the time and effort that has gone into placing and maintaining these caches for our benefit, thank you to all the CO's.

Found on mega weekend. One of a bunch of caches found and logged.

e.Gregory1 and Freddo decided to travel to Wangaratta for Geocaching Victoria’s first 2022 Mega event. The attraction of GeoMaze icon was just too tempting. We packed the Land Cruiser for a bubble environment. There would be some public exposure but we would be keeping it minimal. Fortunately we did not bother with any warm clothes. Fortunately we packed some Bushmans with +20% DEET. There were caches to find and we found caches. We saw a lot of interesting places and met the occasional geocacher or two in the field.

I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count.

This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and a Samsung S8. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs...

Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.

Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke für den Cache. Gracias por el caché. Bedankt voor de cache. Kiitos kätköstä. Zikomo posungira. Terima kasih untuk cache. Hvala cache. Köszönöm a cache. Nga mihi mo te keteroki. Dankie vir die kas.

I really enjoyed this section of the trail. When I'm walking in the bush, I try my best to be aware of the animals and insects, to avoid causing them any harm. Approaching GZ, I had a chat with a charming, beautiful, spider, and assured him that I would not cause him any concern. Unfortunately, after finding the cache, and signing the log, I forgot about this agreement we had and, taking a slightly different route out, I promptly walked straight through his web. I know he can built another web, but I felt sorry that I had caused it. Apologies to Mister Spider (or was ir Mrs?)
Thanks BettyBoo. The cache is in very good condition.

Thanks for all the work put into placing these, and keeping them maintained,

Thanks to BettyBoo3747 for helping us to have a great day.

Today was day four of our Beechworth holiday (take two, post the very disappointing escape from Victoria Covid of 2020).

We drove down to Bowmans station and rode over the Taylors Gap hill to Myrtleford where we had lunch, and grabbed some caches on our way back. On sunset we went for a stroll around Beechworth to pick up Randolph's Church Multi, and grabbed an Echo cache while we were out.

This was the fifth cache for the day, the high point of the trail, and definitely worth stopping for.

Thanks for the cache BettyBoo3747.

Time for a little bit more cycling. I parked up where the trail crossed the road. and went both ways. Despite having what I thought was a pretty good look I couldn't find it. Most likely my inadequacies as caches in this sort of spot don't usually go missing.

We headed out for one particular cache that we needed for a challenge cache and decided to find whatever cache was on the road as we headed back to Wangaratta. Most geocachers know that we do not know how to take the shortest or most direct road.
We had one DNF out of the caches we attempted, some were easy, some were more taxing, some were low and others were high, thankfully hubby is tall. All caches are in good condition. SL TFTC

Today is definitely our last day of caching along the M2M & Basketball, and we got rained out at Everton, which put stop for play today. 17/17, got to be happy with that. Unless we get time on Monday on our way to Wang with the Caravan, we wont be back for a few years. Hopefully when we return the basketball series will still be in play, and also hoping that there might be some more new hides in the area for us to play with.

Another find by MR D, who got covered in cobwebs. Still peeling them off several hours later Thanks Betty Boo

The last one for the morning, we’ve done well, it’s getting hot, and our tummies are rumbling, but I did have just enough energy left to climb the hill and find this cache. Loved the post and rail fence. Thanks for the cache, and for bringing us here to see this little piece of history.
Now to head for Myrtleford and see if we can find a good counter meal!

The most energy-sapping* cache we have done so far today on our trip to Bright. Mr Ozjeeper was rewarded with a quick find in the first place he looked.

* not really all that energy-sapping at all.

We also liked having to search the bush.

Day 1 of 3 in the Beechworth area with Trailstevo tackling the HSS series and other in the area. Had a tough start with a few dnfs straight of the bat but we got going eventually. We were on bikes an the trail not as flat as we would have liked. Some excellent hides along the trails and country roads a great variety, never quite sure what we are to look for next.such a huge effort creating the Geoart, the puzzles and ongoing maintenance. Thanks to all the CO’s and special thanks to Jamin. TFTC

Decided to have a crack at the HSS caches and I grabbed this one too at the beginning of the trail. Before I got onto the trail someone pulled up asking if I was hitchhiking, which was a bit strange.
I made a little detour up the hill and found the well hidden cache, thank you
