A new day, Springwood North to be explored. Lovely scenery for another find. This letterbox cache was a lovely sight to discover. Found it lying down so I got in touch with CO WaywardWoman. Obtained some stones from the surroundings to prop it up more sturdy. Upright at original site, based on previous photos.

I found this cache as I headed home to Adelaide after the QOGM events around Longreach. The plan was to be away for about a month. I travelled up to Longreach via Broken Hill, Cunnamulla, Charleville and Barcaldine, camping and finding caches of interest along the way. I am heading back home via Brisbane and the NSW coast to Sydney, then across to Adelaide. However my plans are pretty loose and subject to change, often on a whim! The weather so far has been good, albeit a little warm at times. I am hoping it stays good for the rest of the trip.I have had to be quite selective with the caches I have found as there are so many that I am passing. As a result I have mostly targeted non-traditional cache types, although I have also grabbed a few Trads opportunistically here and there.I enjoyed finding this older (for a letterbox) cache, particularly after its recent refurbishment. A favourite point from me for keeping it gping! Thanks WaywardWoman for the cache, which has contributed to an interesting and enjoyable trip.

Having walked a section of the Birdwood Gully track I came round to the Bednal Street end and began the walk from there.
It was an interesting walk with all the Xanthorrhoea plants.
Despite it's size the letterbox was well out of sight.
I said to myself, 'somewhere near here' and a couple of steps further and I saw it.

I think I had the right code but the lock was rusted shut. Managed to get my name in the logbook. Thanks for the Letterbox, there aren't enough of them!

Glad I found the entrance to the trail! Headed in and soon located the letter box! Persistent drizzle and the odd leech did not deter from the beauty of this location. Lock is a wee bit rusty but still unlocked.

Just catching up on some logs from the past month. We wondered around in a circle for a couple of minutes because the GPS was bouncing. But finally I spotted something very fitting up ahead - I told Meritonnn it would probably be up there! She should listen to me more! Haha. TFTC!

A really lovely bush area! I'm not sure how we missed it initially, but we went down a bit lower, turned around and suddenly GGCoconut called out "omg it's a !!!!" So cool! Tftc!

Biggest challenge was finding a safe parking spot. After that it was quite an easy descent towards the ferns where the well-crafted cache was soon spotted. Previously worked out the code so no problems signing the log. Can see why this is CO’s favourite and another FP awarded here. (Also enjoyed CO’s TRLT series though). Thanks WonderWoman!

Found. TFTC - We could’ve walked from the Forgotten Realm but didn’t. We parked not far up the road and wandered down to gz. Good little box close to some natural camo. Once retrieved with the required info place all back as found. The stem had fallen slightly so place a little more upright and moved the rock, next finders might need to move it slightly to open to check the mail. TFTLB waywardwoman

It's always great to see a letterbox cache !!!!!

- even if, usually, I have to bush bash my way deep into gothic forests/bushland infested by ticks, snakes, spiders, thorny bushes, mosquitoes, slippery rocks, feral drop bears... bearing with me the knowledge that I probably won't find the cache at all, then my GPS will fade out and I'll get hopelessly lost....

- crawling back to civilisation much much much later, bedecked in mud, blood, sweat, tears.

This time was pleasurably different. The sun was shining. There was deep green moss on the rocks and there was an actual track leading, in the fullness of time, to an elegant hide. Which I even managed to open.

My visit to WaywardWoman territory today has been a success. Thank you for the AL (and all the caches I've previously managed to do of yours). Favourite point.

Did a TB drop while enjoying a walk today as my youngest was keen to find a cache that wasn't a micro!

Woohoo...my 2nd geocache. This is a wee bit addictive. ️

06-Mar-20
I went to the posted coordinates and tried to see if I could get the lock to open. It was a no go. What was I thinking, I could be here all day and not guess the correct combo. I was passing through town, traveling all over Australia from Rochester NY 14625. I had no idea what the combo might be.

I left the cache, but I hadn't given up. I walked 550 meters along the wet forested trail to another cache, and thought about how I could get the information I needed. The path was narrow and wet. Rain water still dripped down off the leaves of the trees and ran down the rock ledges along the side of the trail. Lizards, some small, only a few inches long, others big up to 10 inches long, ran off to the sides of the path and hid under dense veggetation.

I thought I might run into someone locals on the trail and ask them. It was a good idea, but no one was out here on this hot, humid, Friday afternoon.

After I completed the Earth cache, I had one more idea. I went out to the street at the other end of the park and looked for anything that could give me a clue to what I needed. Then I spotted someone's news paper laying in the street. I picked it up and sat down in the shade and flipped through the soggy pages. Bingo, I found the information that I needed and went back to the cache, renewed that I could now access the logbook.

I walked along and saw waterfalls flowing down deep in the dense rain forest. It was a crazy place with prehistoric looking plants like I've never seen before. I almost walked past the point where I had to turn off the trail, but I recognized it by the bare gum tree that was just off the path. I found the cache again without the GPS and tried the lock. It opened and I felt quite proud of myself for the way I came to the solution.

Thanks for the find.

Spent the weekend outdoors with friends. I had a very rewarding time - reaching #5000 finds, clearing more of my 50km radius and collecting a range of caches that work towards different statistics/challenges. Thanks to all Cache Owners for their contribution to the game.

I targeted statistics-related caches on the way home on Sunday. Swung by this Letterbox on the way through. An easy walk in the bush and a quick find was made. Thanks For The Cache, WaywardWoman.

Day 10 of our vacation in Australia from Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA. Today we left Sydney for the Blue Mountains. Couldn’t ask for nicer weather. It was really foggy in town. Not sure where but some point driving up into the mountains we drove above the clouds. Echo Valley was crazy busy today. I had a short list of caches today. We only grabbed 3 of them though. We got to enjoy several look outs, two water falls, one big hike, and three sisters! Tftc PS, opening the cache took a minute as our postal system is just a little different. But we got it worked out. TFTC.

#7030. I flew over from New Zealand on Sunday. Here to attend the Mega event next weekend. But before then I have a week of geocaching in NSW and ACT. I am a challenge cache junkie so had to make a trip up to the Blue Mountains to pick up the challenges in this area. While in the general vicinity I stopped to grab a few traditional caches. I also visited the nearby earthcache and then tried to find the traditional in the gully floor. No reception down there so couldn't pull up the spoiler images. (Back at hotel I could see where it was hidden - came close to that spot but not close enough!). Once back up on track again and I noticed there was a letterbox cache nearby. And indeed it really was a letterbox. What a great cache. I had one bar on the phone by this stage so was able to extract the information needed for the padlock. Signed the logbook and returned cache where found. Thanks Wayward Woman for the cache. Definitely worth a favourite. Dropped off two trackables in this secure cache.

Heading home somewhat circuitously from Ironfest in Lithgow, we were quite behind schedule having picked up a few interesting caches along the way. Letterboxes aren't too common so I couldn't resist this one either. With GeoSon chilling in the car I had to do this one fairly quickly, so fortunately it ended up not being too difficult. A fun find in a nice patch of bush. TFTC!

Nice cool walk in the shade on a hot day.
Love the container.
Thanks for the cache

We had feelings of Deja Vu when we parked here today.Wwe must have been here for a cache before. I followed the arrow, stopped at GZ and looked out and below. Mummypenny arrived with the pup and said "There's a ^^$@$%*)_ behind you". Nice work. Thanks WaywardWoman.

Logged this cache after spending a long time caching in Springwood cemetery. This type of letter box cache was definitely a first for me. Remarkedly the letter box is still intact!!

Today we went for a little walk and found this letter box. Sadly, it has had someone trying to force entry to it, but the padlock has held. We checked the code numbers to undo the lock before we left home, so were able to access the cache easily. Duties were done and all was replaced as found. Our thanks go to WaywardWoman for placing this letter box cache.

Heading back to Sydney from the Blue Mountains, oldmorty suggested looking for a letterbox cache in Springwood. After parking the car at the bottom of the hill, we headed upwards towards a track which lead into the bush. Taking the direct route, which included a bit of bush-bashing, oldmorty came upon GZ. I did the google and came up with the code. We signed the log and re-locked the cache. It was then that we found the track out. Always the way - too eager to get to the prize is our oldmorty. Thanks WaywardWoman for another great cache.

On the way back to Sydney after a weekend in the mountains frazeydaze and I decided to check out this super mailbox cache. Knowing the CO we knew it would be a bit of fun. After parking nearby we proceeded down the trail but for some reason unbeknown to us we decided to do a little bush bashing. Once at GZ we soon had the letterbox open for SL, after which we spied a much simpler access out. TFTC WaywardWoman.

I came up the mountain looking for some altitude (>1000M) caches for a challenge cache down the mountain. I couldn't go pass this so i did a short detour and soon had cache in hand. Thanks WaywardWoman for the placement. cheers

On the way to join team canary and co at Springwood to start an excellent adventure to "In the Loop". But I still needed a find for today so targeted this letterbox. Having already completed my homework last night, it didn't take too long to stroll in for the find and to access the log.

My phone was playing up for this cache (I really do need to load some caches into my GPS), so I walked in a circle and ended up using the photos to locate the cache. LouLou0212 was unimpressed with me making him needlessly bush bash. But I’m sure he survived, as he survived a leech yesterday. Fantastic cache WaywardWoman

What better way to spend the first day of Autumn than geocaching?? Slowly making my way to Kurrajong from the central coast today for business, via ~10 caches Big Grin. This is find #6. Do love the Letterboxes so I am chasing all three up here today! Someone has attempted forced entry on it but it is still in tact. I tried to perform a little panel beating which has helped but it could use a little TLC. Stamped mine in yours and yours in mine. Just found one identical to this last week whaddya know. This one here is our 33rd LBH. TFTLBH, WaywardWoman.

Visited again after doing another cache on this walk. A great cache, So much fun for geokids. Looks a bit beaten up as if someone couldn't work out the code and tried to force it. Anyway, all still intact and great fun. Thanks.

We are based in Richmond for a few days and what a wonderful choice of caches. Today we headed towards Springwood and surrounds and this was one of the caches we targetted and found. Thanks to WaywardWoman for placement of this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area. Big GrinBig Grin

5:30 am on Boxing Day and I can't get back to sleep. What to do? Maybe I could make Boxing Day letterBOXING Day by grabbing this cache. I drove from my mountains hide out to within 200m of the trail head. There was enough light to see clearly despite the cloud overhead and the early hour. At GZ the cache was found quickly. No problem extracting the container from the hide.

Been looking at a challenge series that requires a certain number of each cache type and realised I needed to locate more letterboxes which surprisingly are quite rare so thanks for placing this one, my second for the day. Had a full day’s agenda including some longer bushwalks so glad this one was within 80m of being a PnG. Prepared with the correct access code, signed/stamped log and removed a pair of sharp scissors that had dangerously been left behind by a previous finder.

F(H)ound It! #2085 - @ 12:40 PM

I'm on a 4 day georoadtrip with Miz Wacket and we are concentrating on quality caches today. This was one of them Smile. It took a few minutes to find a safe place to pull off the road but we soon settled on a spot just downhill from the path. I loved the container, which is surprisingly well camouflaged. Good one, WaywardWoman

Safe travels.

Up in Springwood today with Snoopy1976 doing some caches and headed off to find this one. Once at GZ I had to chuckle to myself as I was not expecting what we found. Being a local I did not need to do any research to work out how to open the cache. TFTC

In Sydney for the day with the geokids (3 and 5) trying to grab some letterbox caches to help us qualify for an all rounder style challenge. We need 4 letterboxes more to have found 25 of at least 5 different cache types.

After finding 2 letterboxes (and a few randoms) in south west Sydney we headed to the mountains.

This was actually our 5th letterbox for the day so we went slightly over the odds for the challenge but where's there's an addiction...

The kids and I parked close by and enjoyed a little stroll to a well placed container. Kids dropped a few of the swaps collected over the course of the day and loaned a bracelet. TFTC

After the trip to the NZ, we came back to Sydney for a wedding this weekend. Whilst Mel and lil Emily were off visiting a friend, I had eyed off this cache over the past few visits home and this was my chance to grab it. I set off up the hill and eventually made it close to GZ. Out of the car and off I wandered down the track. The metres were going down but I wasn't sure when to cut off the track. Made a decision to walk and then started. I was zeroing in but still couldn't make out the cache - was it here, was it there, was it under this....Eventually I walked around something and it sprung out in front of me! The pain of coming into the cache from the wrong angle can be the difference between a simple quick find, or a more harder find! Quickly retrieved the log, stamped (wrong month mind you I realised later!) and then found the more direct route back to the track. A really beauitful area I had heard about when I lived up here, but never went to see. TFTC

#3759 (1 of 11 today)

Today is another day I need to target in my quest to have five finds on every calendar day by the end of this year (being one find for each year I'll have cached).
Now I only need two finds today, but as I have often done, I decided to hit this day hard.

Went for eleven caches around Springwood (the lair of **Wayward Woman** and **bikerbuddy** which should mean quality caches) and found all eleven - HUZZAH!
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
Decided tio start with another Letterbox Cache. When u here last time I did a somewhat longer one nearby. This one was short and to the point.

Found a park nearby and made my way to GZ. Quick find. Hmmm, cache still looks a little wonky - wanted to lean downhill...
Having read the description I knew what I needed to do to open it and soon had CIH.

Completed signing duties and replaced. Then propped it all back up again.
Fun start to the day.

Spotted the cache location quickly once nearby. I just now read about the huntsman living in the box and I can confirm that it's still there. That's the first one I've seen in Australia. They're rather ugly but I respect spiders for eating the insects I don't respect, lol. TFTC!

SWAG Gang Streak Day #30
Trackables Visited: #2
Trackables Dropped: #0
Trackables Spotted: #0
Trackables Taken: #2
Cache Condition: Great!

Mae the trip down here, had issues with the GPS but eventually decided to go bushwhacking and made the find.
On the way to GZ, there was something massive that took off into the bushes. Had a tail like a dog but it legged it out of there and made me cautious going forward.
Then i get to the cache and read theres a huntsman and I'm like "what?"
Got the code, opened it and there he was.
Didn't kill him or remove him because I was able to retrieve without disturbing him so yeah, HE'S STILL THERE!!!!
Took two TB's, sealed the cache and we were off.

Thanks for the cache.

Find #851
We were in the area for the 'Spring Caching in the Bluies' event, and today our goal was to find 6 cache types. We made an early start to get five types before the event.....
We parked nearby and walked in, with the GPS showing about 40m from the start. We followed a geotrail fairly early, and despite GPSr problems, spotted the cache from 15m away. Young Oliver was delighted to see it before his older brother. There is a large huntsman spider living in the letterbox, he gave us a good welcome.... Dropped off two travelers. TFTC WaywardWoman

### Trip to the bush ###

----------

Day 1
We started our trip in Rouse Hill towards the bush region of New South Wales.
Our first stop was in Springwood where we took a little bush walk and found this letterbox in the middle of the bush. We then visited the geological sandstone attraction and informed ourselves about the geological features of this region.
We then continued our trip towards Katoomba where we enjoyed the breathtaking view over the Blue Mountains at Echo Points. We took a little walk and reached the 3 sisters form the originally 7 sisters. Now it was starting to get dark and we continued on to the town to look for a couple of more caches before finishing off the day.
Day 2
At early morning, we relaxed once more for a little while longer at Eco Point before we continued our trip towards Blackheath and Mount Victoria.
We had a little break at Lake Lyell where we visited the dam and had some snacks.
We then continued towards Ryell and high up to Mount Lambie where we were lucky to spot many animals again.
We left the main road just before Bathurst towards the quiet countryside past Peel, Wattle Flat and the historical Sofala. We had a coffee break at Sofala where we drove around the old historic town.
We then continued our drive on Hill End Road and we socked in the beautiful nature. We were lucky to see many animals on the way.
We were welcomed by many roos at Hill End.
We left Hill End and drove towards Hargreaves towards our night stop at Windeyer. We slept at Bushland Tourist Park once again in the beautiful train accommodation. We had dinner at the local pub where we had nice pasta.
Day 3
We had to first free the car from all the ice before we could start our trip towards Mudgee. It gets cold out there at night, around -1 degrees.
We drove towards the west to Wellington and Stuart Town, Mumbil, Dam Arthur and finished the day in Dubbo.
We were astonished by NSW untouched nature and beautiful wildlife.
Day 4
We started the day with a little trip outside of Dubbo’s bushalnds.
We then strolled around the city of Dubbo and visited the beautiful Botanic Graden of Dubbo. The Gardner’s put so much work into maintain this beautiful spot. Well done.
We started the trip home towards Sydney past Wellington, Mudgee and Portland.
We drove past the Mt Piper Power station and informed us about the tours.
We continued towards Sydney.
We hereby want to thank all owners for all the work you have done in maintaining the caches. You have showed us many beautiful and also many hidden spots which we wouldn’t have found without the caches.
Thank you

We then strolled around the city of Dubbo and visited the beautiful Botanic Graden of Dubbo. The Gardner’s put so much work into maintain this beautiful spot. Well done.
We started the trip home towards Sydney past Wellington, Mudgee and Portland.
We drove past the Mt Piper Power station and informed us about the tours.
We continued towards Sydney.
We hereby want to thank all owners for all the work you have done in maintaining the caches. You have showed us many beautiful and also many hidden spots which we wouldn’t have found without the caches.
Thank you

This one was so much fun to find! We got a little lost, but this ended up turning in to a beautiful bush walk. The moment when my sister yelled 'found it!' Was music to my ears!! Thanks for the adventure!!
