No luck on this one, was quite a bit of rubbish around and a broken container although we couldn't tell if it was the cache or not
This weekend, I headed to Whyalla to catch up with a few other Geocachers and attempt some of the trails there. On Saturday, we targeted the FTF power trail from Whyalla to Iron Knob, and then spent the evening and the subsequent morning driving some of Whyalla's back tracks. On Sunday, I visited Cowleds Landing and back north, only to get severely bogged in one of Whyalla's clay pans. I then returned home via the August series.
Today, I joined hevwalker and scramping with our goal to complete the FTF power trail. We got 75% through before taking a break for lunch in Iron Knob, and then completed the remaining geocaches, finishing in the early afternoon. We then visited the new Whyalla circular jetty, and then had dinner at the Eyre Hotel geocaching event. Finally, we headed out for a quick stop at Whyalla Conservation Park, and then headed around the tracks around the levee finding miscellaneous geocaches, all within a nice and balmy evening.
Once we parked, we made the quickish find at this location. The old cache container was still there and damaged, and lying out a bit from where it should have been. This one probably needs a CO check. Thanks woodsy5 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Found on our Whyalla holiday with hevwalker.....Davidwazza had joined us for a fun day of caching..... we had been able to get the FTF powertrail completed, lunch in Iron Knob and a few extra caches done and a lovely meal at hevwalkers event at the Eyre Hotel before heading out to get some caches in the backtracks....Wow didn't realise how many backtracks there were out here ...luckily geocaching maps helped us get around without any backtracking tonight...... such a wonderful night for caching with perfect temperatures and clear skies (wow the stars are amazing aren't they... wishing I had my SLR camera and light tools with me....will ensure I bring them next time I visit the area)...... We found the cache after a quickish search...the cache container is need of some attention...we signed and replaced before heading off for more smilies..... TFTC
In Whyalla with scramping on a mini holiday getaway...
We were joined for the day with Davidwazza...
After my dinner event tonight we decided to do a bit of night caching...
We were now heading out into the Whyalla Backtracks...I do love country caching...you have more freedom without wondering whose watching...
It was a perfect night for it too...warm and dry...

Eeek... full of bugs!! Container is damaged & needs replaced. Sorry nothing with us as biking. Have replaced as best we can in the hope that it stays dry. TFTC
Container in desperate need of renewal. We didn’t have a replacement unfortunately. TFTC
As reported by previous cachers this one's container is munted! I only wish i had a systema or something on me at the time. At least it is upside down to keep the rain and water out but the log book was still very moist.
Fortunately for me it was juuuust dry enough to SL.
Did just that at 12:05 on Sat 15 June 2019.

Found at 2:32 PM GAFF1.
Gosh - what the heck is going on here with the CO's? No one seems to be wanting to do any maintenance around here. Is the town and the cachers disintegrating?
More rubbish that should have been removed and archived.
Thanks woodsy5

Not sure Marvin would be too happy about that cache. We found it out in the open and full of water. Owner needs to attend to it.
You tricky little geocacher you! Things aren't always where we expect them to be! The Co-ord were spot on for my phone. SL TN LN. Log is good condition but cache lid is broken. As long as it doesn't rain it'll be OK. Thanks for bringing me here for my first Whyalla cache.
It was a few weeks ago that Laighside Legends suggested a trip over to Port Lincoln for the long weekend in order to gather a few more LGAs’. It was a pleasant drive over, picking up a few caches along the way, however we spent a few hours in Whyalla to specifically target a few caches. This was followed by a slow drive down the costal highway, picking up cache after cache and happened to even bump in to Aussie M&M and Mogni as we neared Lincoln. We arrived in Lincoln at around nine after an enjoyable day of traveling and caching.

Found It!
This one took us a lot longer to find than it ever should have. But after a lot of wandering around I spotted it! The container could do with some TLC...

Happy Birthday...
Spending a few days in Whyalla and found a few cache, or 300!
Had managed to solve all the puzzles before coming over too.
Of the nearly 300 found on the trip over and back from Adelaide, 95% were found within 50km of Whyalla Central, with approx a dozen dnfs also. Amongst all the finds was my 17000th find.
Also managed a lot of 'unloved' finds too.
What is it with Whyalla and mint tins? lol
TNLNSL
Thanks

Hi there woodsy5.
We found your cache **"Happy Birthday Marvin!"** at 1:51:00 PM today. (This makes our find count 15819).
We cached around the Whyalla area today. On our trek we found a wide variety of container types. & ended up finding 20 caches with 1 DNF's.
Thanks for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.
