Logs
We are currently on a eight week holiday which is mostly spent in New Zealand and Australia. However, the first three days were spent in Signapore as a nice break from an otherwise long flight. Yesterday we drove from Greymouth to Picton. This afternoon we take the water taxi to Portage. So this morning we have plenty of time for another nice stroll in and around Picton for some sightseeing and of course geocaching. The weather is quite nice and we are really enjoying ourself. On our walk we also visited this cache. The cache was easily found in good order. Thank you very much for this cache.
During our two-month trip through New Zealand and Australia, we arrived in Picton yesterday. We returned our rental car and took the water taxi to the Portage in Marlborough Sounds. Before the water taxi leaves there is some time to visit a few caches. This cache was found.**No Fixed Aboder**, thanks for the cache.
Headed over to Picton for a long evening of caching around Victoria Domain and Snout track. Managed 14 finds, 1 DNF, a swim and a few hours of walking. A more straight forward find thankfully. Cache all fine. Thanks for the smiley
TTFC, searched for this about 5 years ago with no luck so tried again and boom just like that!

M nok jobbe iherdig mot stadig nye ml jeg ikke visste jeg hadde.Alt er bra med cachen om ikke det nevnes verst i teksten.
Hi. Replaced log book today. Non prickly access approx 10m north of seat. Cheers.
Popped a couple of wee treasures in. Cache had a bit of water in from not being closed properly. Watch for gorse.
After dropping the boy at A&P (the football park central of Blenheim) I zipped over here for double find points. Easy find, with only 250 of the 1000 lumens on the light source needed.
Enjoyed the Snout Track today as far as the QC lookout. The track a bit muddy and slippery after the rain overnight but well worth doing. Collected a couple of caches along the way including this one. Eyed the gorse ruefully before seeing the catcher trail in a bit further along. Thanks No Fixed Aboder.
#12,105. I caught the Cook Strait ferry early this morning and have an 8 day holiday in the South Island. Looking forward to doing a lot of summer geocaching. I had the morning in Picton finding caches. This was one of them. I parked nearby and wandered up to the seat. Made the mistake of crashing into the bush and gorse instead of finding a better path. Was picking out gorse needles for some time after this one. Note there is a way in that largely avoids the gorse. Once at GZ the cache was quickly spotted. Signed the log and replaced the cache as found. Thanks No Fixed Aboder for the cache.
Nice stroll up to the cache..had run watching a guy practising his hang gliding..soon spotted the cache ..signed and replaced as found thanks for the placement No fixed Aboder
A year ago we circled around tge Park drive. We passed this one as we needed to move on. Today we have time, so a short stroll up here and into the gorse. Glad it has been sprayed. Thanks for the placement No fixed Aboder
a couple metres into the bushes. be careful of sharp plants but an easy find inside the tree
I'm hoping and guessing there wasn't this much gorse in the vicinity when this was placed. Quick find after battlung prickles. TFTC No pen so photo it is.
TFTC, 2nd find on my weekend Marlborough MTB visit. GPS was spot on for me.
Thanks to my friend for being an awesome taxi while I was visiting. Great day here. Tftc
The rain has cleared for awhile so time to get on the bike and find some caches. This was first today. Managed to dodge all the dead gorse on the way to the find.
Thanks for the cache
Thanks for the cache
Found it, now coverd in gorce. Did understand hint. (Next time wear thick clothes.
Bush waking again. Nice to get in the shade. Bit of gorse which we skirted. Tftc
Missed the gorse.
The holidays are here and another tour begins: ‘The Very Top of the South Tour’. With GraciesGPSFun at the moment before NosyNel and Jude_E join us in Nelson on Monday.

Came here with nette1234 after we had walked The Snout .
Reading previous logs had me worried about needing to bush bash into gorse....
But lucky for me nette found an easy way in and she soon had the well tethered cache in hand.

Happy New Year. Found on my run from Waikawa to Picton. Nailed it pretty quickly. Tftc
(# 5967). Day 1 of my South Island odyssey. The ferry trip over the strait was calm but once in Picton the rain set with a cold southerly. A nice drive up through the domain to grab a few caches. A quick find. Everything in order. TFTC
Day 9 of my 2020 NZE (New Zealand Experience).
(My apologies for the delayed logging but I'm in catch-up mode)
Seeing as I can't be in America right now, I'm touring around the South Island instead. During my time here I am aiming to find as many of the TMGT caches as I can (preferably all 41) and also as many Virtuals, Earthcaches and Letterbox Hybrids as possible, plus any Trads or others that will fill a hole in my D/T grid, my Jasmer grid, or else the last 3 remaining Hidden Dates on that grid.
Having arrived at my rest a few km short of Picton last night in darkness, today's plan was to get to Picton and then work my way back along the coast ending up somewhere near Kaikoura tonight. It's a journey I had made on my very first day visiting the South Island back in 1988, and I was keen to do it again and also see for myself what has happened to the coastline after the Earthquakes almost 4 years ago. That was a hell of a night, even for me some 150km away at the time.
Arriving in Picton I soon headed to get the caches I had targetted, but that also allowed me to grab a few extra ones that I happened to just be passing such as this one.
Walking to GZ, it didn't take long before I realised that I would have to have a bit of a search through trees. Thankfully it was a lovely day, but that didn't make me feel less conspicuous as a single bloke in scruffy clothing rummaging around in bushes! Especially when a couple of females walked by and I had to make the decision of whether to remain still and hope they don't see me or make a lot of noise to ensure I didn't startle them! Thankfully the first ploy paid off, as did persistence in my search and it wasn't too long before I was able to do the usual caching administration before replacing everything as found and walking back to where I had parked the campervan.
Thanks for placing this cache.

After some bush bashing and thanks to good coordinates this was quite a quick find!
We thank the owner for leading us to the wonderful view over the sports field.

Tried what I thought was the right variety of tree but it was found found at what I thought was something else. You live and learn! TFTC
I’m surprised this nice little cache isn’t found more often. It’s by other easily accessible ones which you can make into a loop and it’s so close to a parking place as well. All is in good condition here. TFTC
Got chatting to a lovely lady here and introduced her to the world of geocaching. She wrote down the site and everything sounding very interested. I must admit my main focus on this quick trip to get the cache was the beautiful wee dog she was walking who was incredibly boisterous and excitable.
TFTC!
TFTC!
GeoJessie and I had a long chat with a lady walking her dog, she is going to learn a bit more about geocaching. She wondered why I went into bushes and came out with paper for Jess to sign! We were running out of time and I just had to go and get the cache. Good hide, all safe and dry, TFTC and a nice memory, great dog!
A pleasant walk some muggles in the distance but all quiet after the holiday weekend. TFTC
Tramyard had arranged a camper relocation and asked me if I wanted to join him and locate some of the geotour caches on the way back from Christchurch to Auckland. I readily agreed and took Friday off work, so we could spend 4 days travelling over 1600kms from Christchurch to Greymouth to Kaikoura, Blenheim and Picton, across the ferry to Wellington, up through Taranaki back to Auckland finding over 80 caches, 43 of which were part of the geotour.
We arrived early in Picton to find some caches before our ferry crossing. It was a gorgeous sunny morning and I enjoyed our walk around the waterfront. We then headed to this domain for one of the geotour caches. Since we had plenty of time before the ferry, we took advantage of the sunshine for a bit of a walk.
We ended up making this harder to find than it should have been, forcing our way through gorse. Once we located the cache we spotted the easy route in. Had to wait for muggles to pass by before leaving the bush.
