On a misty walk with victoriousone and mumandme. We decided to see how many Skindo cases we could find on the way down from the summit. Some were quite wet inside. Tftc.
Deliberating where to go for a walk on this stunning sunny day and ended up here. Haven’t been out here in ages, enjoying the amazing manicured track compared to most of the tramping we’ve done recently! Log paper is very damp but managed to scrawl hopefully legibly enough. TFTC
Christmas Day 2021 is largely being spend in the company of the Seagnoid, and we have decided that a damn good tramp in the Tararuas is exactly what's needed for the pair of us.
We'd initially thought about doing the Totara Flats walk from Holdsworth to Greytown, but changed our minds due to a couple of considerations and instead elected to tramp the Mikimiki track as a daywalk, which would give us the chance to find a whole bunch of archived Skindo caches, including this one.
One of the things we found today was that tS with his GPS and me with my Phone would often be about 20m apart in saying where GZ was. And to make matters worse, there was no consistency. Some times mine was more accurate, other time his was. Mine had the edge here on accuracy this time, but tS spotted the access in and made the find at GZ.
Most of these caches have suffered from water ingress over the years. We signed the log when we could, and replaced the old sodden one with some new waterproof paper when we couldn't.
On signing the log we discovered the added bonus of this cache being 1000+ days lonely too!
Thank you for setting these caches up

I saw the little trail beside the stream and thought hte cache might be up there. Was a little further up than I expected though. Needed the hint.
TwigNZ and I had been planning an overnight tramp for some time, but then it got cancelled as someone else would like to some along. We'll team up with them and do that one later. Instead Twig and I set up two day trips, with the same plan - looking at Skindo's incursions into the hills. Today is Mikimiki to Kiriwhakapapa. I brought a dog along - a little knee high schnauzer named Ash. Ash did both trips practically running all the way - and then slept for a day afterward!

Been on my lonely list for a while. Nice to finally get it while out for a walk with the geo dog.
Cache # 4,987 - years after I started this series, I am now only one cache away from the first level completion. Was so happy to finally be by this area, and see how beautiful it is here. And to top it off, the cache has been lonely for 2 years now! Did with Astro Hunter and Violet Butterfly. Well worth a favourite point. TNLNSL. TFTC!
Did with The Wandering Dragons and Astro Hunter. Muddy on the walk despite many days of no rain - the heavy canopy obviously keeps the sun from drying out the path. Beautiful area, though. I followed the GPS, which lost some accuracy under the tree cover. TWD instead followed the hint and found the cache almost immediately. Thanks for a great adventure!
Cache # 1,594
Cache # 1,594
Other than the mud on the trail and the mosquitoes in the air, this was one of the nicest caches we found on the entire 4 day trip to the Wairarapa. Thanks for introducing us to an awesome area we want to return to again sometime!

Today was incredibly sunny and warm and I knew it would be a great day to go geocaching. These school holidays it is my aim to find at least one cache everyday until school starts again, this geocache was close to my house so I hopped onto my bike and rode to the start of the trails.
I have attempted this geocache once before and came out empty handed, this time though I came with more experience and a new found determination. The trails were a bit wet but still amazingly beautiful as always, so I very much appreciated the small stroll I had to take to get to the geocache. I had small delay getting to GZ after bumping into a friend walking along the track too (I guess I wasn't the only one who thought today was a beautiful day to go out and about), but after a short conversation I was back on my way. When I got close enough to the area, I tried to follow the clue as best as I could, going past both objects and looking for where the hint directed me to. I don't know how I missed it last time with the hint that was given, but this time I found it nearly instantaneously. I had to brave a few densely weaved spider webs but was able to reach the cache with no harm, TFTC skindo, I hope to find more in this series soon, so I can start piecing the puzzles together!

A big mission over the hill today, focusing on Skindo's A to Z and 2 from 2 series caches, but picking up others along the way.
This was the main mission for coming up here today, to get the last of the level 1 caches. That certainly is a big log and stump (but not the largest I'll see in here). Cache was a relatively quick find after that. Now to get all those level 2s! TFTC

Great hint, quick find. Nice to revisit area, though bush looking stressed from drought. Cheers skindo!
Replaced paper. Now All good at GZ
Thanks for another smilie

Thanks to the Cache Owner who has gone to the trouble of creating this cache, determining the coordinates and then averaging them to make sure they are accurate, placing the cache and registering it online for our enjoyment. Without Cache Owners doing their bit, there wouldn't be a fun hobby that we all love - so again a big THANK YOU. For our bit, all we need to do is find and log the cache that was carefully placed for our personal enjoyment. As we log it we should consider that the Cache Owner also needs to maintain it - when the log sheet fills up, they must replace it. When the container becomes full of water, they need to empty it. When the container is broken, they need to repair it. When it goes missing they need to find or replace it. Well..... the great news is we can do our bit too - make sure your log doesn't take an entire page - just a name and date. If full of water, empty and dry the cache as best as possible. Be careful when handling the cache and make sure you replace it where you found it. If it has a bag, seal it. Just remember - the Cache Owner showed respect to you by placing the cache - please respect them and fellow cachers that follow you by being careful with the cache. And if you have a spare log sheet and the cache you are at needs one, please leave it behind. Finally, if the cache does need maintenance, please let the Cache Owner know - you can log a Maintenance Log or you can drop a line to the Cache Owner. Above all - have fun and remember the Geocaching Code.

This cache was the main reason I came up here today so couldn't go home empty handed. Eventually found it but seemed a big 10m. Code extracted. Thanks for the cache.
We have had an amazing day with great company, edvern, PJMacNZ, and two great supporters who enjoyed the walk and the hunt, loved this track, a little muddy in places but I had sneakers on and I still came out with clean shoes, we came across some very wet logs, and replaced the ones we were not able to write on - nice clear hint and was followed, was soon spotted after a short look.
Seeing that I had done the southern part of the Mikimiki to Kiriwhakapapa walk yesterday I thought I had better do the northern today.
Good hint.
Cheers for the cache.

A good day out walking the track from Kiriwhakapapa to the Mikimiki road end...and following the geocache trail...good company-edvern,marisa&kaleb and 2 others out for the walk and hunt.A clear and concise hint,we were there in no time! TFTC!
#2019. Well after two DNF's on the first caches along this track, I was starting to wonder if I had lost my touch. Luckily the hints here were very specific. Even so I made hard work of it as missed the cache in the likely spot initially so searched wider around a number of other objects before coming back for a more thorough search at this spot. This time I located the cache in a logical spot. How often does that happen. The cache was bit damp but log was still OK to sign. So pleased to find this one as it was one of the two target caches I had come over to the Wairarapa to find today and I had a DNF on he other one. Thanks for placing the cache here skindo. Certainly a nice bush walk.
Took a bit of searching in a radius but found. Alpha clue in good shape but log is frail and difficult to sign. Great track. NINO TFTC
A quick detour from the main road just to pick up this cache. Didn't have time to pick up any of the others around here - will have to come back when I have the time to enjoy it. A nice bit of forest that I've never been to below. TFTC.
Log was rather tatty - could do with some attention.

The kids weren't too keen on this one, so they stayed in the car while I ran up to find it. So I didn't really have time to do any of the other caches on the track.
I was glad of the detailed hint, because the GPS was jumping around a bit.
Nice hide.
Found using the hint and collected the code.
Thanks.

Out tramping for the weekend to collect the Mikimiki and Kiriwhakapapa tracks with SJT_NZ and TregearP and of course Dobby. TFTC
Found with TregearP and JoJo&Dobby during a trip from Wellington to do all the caches between Mikimiki Road, Kiriwhakapapa Road and Blue Ridge Hut.
Had a blast and only missed one. Thanks to Skindo (and others) who have made this a caching power trail - and effectively ticks off February for Boxhill's Baker's Dozen!

Sweeeeeet - no problems here, and extra info collected. Gets a fav from me - great spot.
The Kiriwhakapapa and Mikimiki geotrails were my main target for today. A really enjoyable afternoon out, trekking solo. Fantastic trail - thanks for placing all these caches skindo!

The top of the list cache for today. This was the only one of the level I caches I hadn't found. Opens up a whole new world of possibilities. A very pleasant late afternoon walk as well. Cheers and TFTC
Thanks for the hint, located the cache by deciding what must be the farthest one possible and working inwards. Just 2 more left on level 1 now . 1030 meters car to cache for the DGSC challenge.
We've already completed this series & just need to "tie up a few loose ends" now.
Another quick find with a very good clue given.
Left a pet rock - a duck. TFTC

Walked the Mikimiki track in the morning, and the Kiriwhakapapa track in the afternoon. My GPS was no good in here. This is one of the four caches I found on this track, from the cache name and clue. TFTC.
A nice walk. Not too much bird life, first trip to the Tararuas. A small detour on the way to Martinborough from Castle Point. Another great holiday day. Thanks for the hide.
After our successes with the Blue Range expedition (minus the 3 at the top that we weren't aware of) we got on to the business that we really came for, to fill in another part of the alpha@ puzzle. So off to K@.
After waltzing past the point of entry from the track we did a back track and were soon on to it.
After a bit of a search….. we made the find…..
Cache in order; log signed, cache safely re-hidden, just as found. Clue harvested too.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!
PS - the most galling aspect of this caching expedition - apart from missing the three at the top of the range - was upon return to Masterton, and in cell/G3 range, we discovered that 5 new caches were published in this area at the exact same time as we were here caching. I can't recall this having happened to us previously, and we had to admit a certain amount of defeat at not being able to return to Kiriwhakapapa right there and then to make the further 5 finds. There you go, it's a strange and funny game that we play with geocaching!

A very enjoyble walk in a beautiul location to whicjh I had not previously been. Thanks for bringing me here to see it. TFTC
What a great way to renew our skindo alphabet cache series
Enjoyed the walk to this one, little realising the B series caches were up this way too, next time I'll fully load the GPS
Thanks for the walk and bringing us out this way. a nice treat and worthy of a FP

Lovely walk after lunch. Track very wet with water running down it in parts, lots of trees to walk round to make it harder left DNA on one large monster we had to scramble around TFTC
Took a detour off the main highway to go and nab this one today... What a fantastic spot for camping at the end of the road... Did the bush walk the hard way and completed the loop track... But it was a great walk... Found the cache thanks to the good directions... Only 4 more left in this series to get...
What a beautiful patch of forest to collect my last basic letter cache of the alphabet series. Pretty quiet up there this morning. TFTC !

Nice to have a descriptive hint, especially in tree cover like this. I'm picking that big tree used to be on top of that stump, I wonder how many years ago it fell. TFTC

Awesome bush walk, enjoyed our visit here... must come back and explore further, worthy of a fav point, MTFTC.

I'm not a huge fan of these off-the-track caches, however the clue was good and made for a straight forward find. TFTC
Due to a lack of planning, I had only loaded this cache on the GPSr.
Now I find there are another 7 here to do as well.
Such a pleasant little bush walk, I'm sure we'll be back soon.

#4392. We were dithering because of the drizzle, decided getting the final letter in round one of the alphabet series was more important than avoiding getting wet. I decided I'd be better off with shorts on, and was in the middle of changing when a car raced up beside us; turned out to be the CO and his good lady (and 4 legged friend)! Small world. The walk to the cache turned out to be very pleasant, and we stayed pretty dry. TFTC.
This was the last of the "A" numbers that we needed to find to progress in the Alphabet series, and so we were very keen to nab it despite the steady drizzle and the 1km walk that would be needed.
As we were sorting things out in the carpark, a car pulled up beside us and a familiar figure emerged - the CO who had just completed a walk in the area himself. It was good to have a quick catchup before we started out.
We took the CO's advice to use the hint at the final. Those hint objects are HUGE and hard to miss! Despite the drizzle, it was an enjoyable walk in a lovely area of bush and we would have looked for more caches in the area if the conditions were better. TFTC.

Found during a day tramp with the Thursday trampers from the Manawatu Tramping and Skiing club. Sixteen of us in the group and one of my tramping buddies spotted it quickly thanks to the helpful hint. Thanks skindo.
A nice track for a bush walk, though a little muddy at this time of the year.Even a bit of a search at the end. Thanks for a very great cache.
After all the heavy rain yesterday it was nice to get out for a walk today. Fairly muddy along the track but no problems finding the cache without the hint so new co-ords are pretty spot on. Decided to go around the loop track on the way back to the car. Came across a wild goat racing across the road in front of us on the way home. TFTC - one more in the series done.
This was the only location in Level I that I had to say "Where?".
It was very muddy but I enjoyed the walk to the cache site. I pretty much ignored my GPS once I got close and followed the letterbox style hints.
I would have liked to have explored some more and find some of the other nearby caches but the weather, track conditions and lack of time were all against me.

A pleasant walk up the track although it was pretty muddy today. Coordinates were 51 metres out for me, but found within only a couple of minutes using the very specific hint. I took a good set of averaged coordinates for GZ, hopefully this will help future finders. Signed log, TFTC.

I think the coordinates are well off for this one. If you believed them it would be on the other side of the bridge. The first part of the hint was obvious but just couldn't nail it down.
#3180. 4TF but first to log. GZ was out by about 60 m for us. Resorted to the excellent additional hints on the cache page, and found after a short search. TNLNSL. TFTC.
2TF with TuisReturn. We enjoyed the bush walk along the stream to site and found cache easily with the useful hint. Co-ords showed 48m away for us. Not too many of level I left to get now. SL TFTC
On the road again finishing off levels 1 & 2 in the area with tmann421, another lovely bush walk which has been part of the a-z series, thanks Skindo
Whoopee another FTF (15:12) Saw this new alphabet series of caches get published and realised that Skindo must be on holiday again. As luck would have it I was going over to the Wairarapa for work so decided that I would try and fit in some time and grab some of the new caches that he had placed over in the Wairarapa, this was the 6th cache of this series that I managed to grab today only another 35 to go to finish the series.
Arriving in Masterton and after finishing work I decided that this was a great opportunity to go and grab this cache which was just a short drive away. Arriving at the carpark I was able to find a park in the parking area and it was not too far from the cache, only a short and easy walk to GZ.
Arriving near GZ I was able to use the hint and I was able to find the cache in the first spot that I looked. Managed to gather the required information before replacing the cache and then I was on my way again.
Thanks for placing it here and for bringing me to this here to this nice bush walk, have being here before but not this far up but I was happy about walking around here as it was quite a safe little location, TFTC TNLNSL (4487) Yeetrees FTF Craze also decided to come out and check out the adventure.
