Despite DNF's from the last two cachers and two in our group not spotting it -gonefishing- nailed it again TFTC

My GPS was landing me right on top of the caches that I found today. I'm pretty sure that I know where this is supposed to be but I could not find it. This location is quite exposed and a cache placed here could easily fall victim to the elements.
Gave it a medium search before moving on — this track gave me grief, thankfully not the targeted cache though!
Find #2771. Stayed overnight in the hut yesterday and climbed the mountain today with Hurricane Luke. Found this while heading out. Quick find by HL. SL TFTC
Well its back in the wairarapa again for the next couple of days with this being the start of the caches leading to the 2 @@@ Barra for the code for the final of the A to Z series and what a brilliant day to walk this track. We arrived at the roadend and were walking by nine, and it was a nice warm up for what was to come.
As this one was next on the track to find and as requested by gsel we came armed with a new container similar style to the CO's and placed the container with the log after we had signed the log beside the said rock.
Thanks for the placement and the smiley.

#3029. I decided to have another day in the Wairarapa and in particular wanted to get another A-Z cache and a few of the 2:2 series, plus pick up a few solved puzzles. Got over here a bit too late to get a big total today but still a chance to see yet more of the Wairarapa I have not been to previously. Drove down this rural road and parked at the Barra carpark. Then started the trek into this series of caches. It was a very strong NW head wind today and had to retrieve my hat a few times. Well when I reached here I had a good search but found nothing. So read past logs and the hint and tried again. After perhaps 15 minutes of further looking under every shrub on both sides of the path for about 15 metres of track I decided it must be missing and needs a replacement. So on the return downhill I pulled out some log sheets and signed them. Put them in a sealed plastic bag and placed under a rock close to where I determined the GZ to be today. Hopefully the next person will remember to bring a new cache container. Cheers GSEL
We reckon we found the place where the cache would be/should be hidden.
After lots of looking and poking and prodding we moved on.
If it is there then it is not wanting to be found at the moment!

no luck here, as per the Turtle, found the likely hiding hole, but not the cache
We didn't find this one, searched on way up and back, it was hiding, or stolen by the cattle, lots of 'signs' of these being around this area.
Its always good to read the history of the track name, so thanks for the information. Another short stop on the way to Mitre Flats Hut. TFTC
Found on a drizzly Sunday hike.come out to the river plenty of times to swim but ever been up this far. TFTC
A great view of snow capped peaks today from the cache site. Muggle John found this - coordinates spot on - but the container had been a bit munted by a deer perhaps and was full of water.
The easiest of the five traditional caches on the track.
Found easily with the hint and very accurate co-ords.
Nice viewpoint and light rain had stopped

Chalk up another for DNF.
While it was a beautiful spot (windy), it was a shame to spend 15 minutes rummaging around in the grass instead of enjoying the view.

Stopped to talk to a couple of trampers on their way to Mitre Flats.
Told them we were geocaching, and they seemed quite interested, but it wasn't until they had walked off that we realised we were very close to this cache.
Took a little bit to locate this one.

I was a bit slow getting to GZ so thought the others would have found the cache by the time I got there. But no, they were obviously having a "man's look" as I spotted the cache from the track!
Good views of 2 peaks here, though there was a touch of cloud on the summit of both. A nice place to stop and have lunch while admiring the view.

#5098. Initially mis-read the name as "peek-a-boo", so was looking for the wrong sort of hide. Troodles was a bit behind, but found the cache on arrival. I presume the name means there are views of a peak from here (Mt Holdsworth?) but it was too cloudy to see the tops. This proved to be a very good lunch stop, with a natural bench to sit on, and nice views down to the river and across the valley. TFTC.
Not found on walk out from Mitre Hut after coming from Atiwhakatu the day before.
Probably didn't search far enough from track?
Very hot walk today.
TFTC, TNLN
Note hut does NOT now have any gas!.

Our goal today was Mitre Flats hut, not just this cache series, but the track proved tougher than we'd hoped and with knees getting sore, we stopped for lunch at 5.0km, still 3.2km from the hut and decided to turn back then.
Our experience with this cache was very much the same as mumandme's. GPS reception was good and on the way in, we searched quite a small area from the edge of the track (as per the clue), but came up empty. While checking previous logs over lunch, it became clear that the cache might reveal itself if we took a step or two off the track. Worked a treat - the cache was quite an easy find looking back towards the track.
Figured that one of the peaks, probably the one on the left, was Jumbo and according to the GPS, Jumbo hut in a straight line was about half as far away as Mt Mitre.
Nice hide Skindo - elegant in its simplicity.

Cache was in a good spot, however the clue was a little innaccurate, because even at 6 foot 2 with monkey arms I had to step off the track! TFTC
Number three out of five! I will definitely need more than 4 hours to Mitre Flat Hut! TFTC
Had a quick look for this one on our way in but nothing obvious so stuck to our plan to head to the furtherest cache and work our way back in case we ran out of time. Found after a short search on our way back. Clue was a bit off putting - my arm is not that long! Lovely views of Jumbo hut from around here (was up there last weekend). TFTC
The GPSr was struggling to keep its signal so, using the hint, I had to do a bit of a grid search along the track in what I hoped was the right area. It took a while and it was a relief to find it. TFTC.
Came here on a day's caching in the Wairarapa to clean up some of the caches that have been beckoning to me for a while. I didn't know if I would have time to fit in this series but fortunately I made good time with other caches so was able to do so. I did surprisingly well considering that others have had problems - it took me an hour 10 minutes to find all 6 caches, then a further 50 minutes to walk back to the car. Distance covered from my tracklog was 7.8km. Great views from here, I lingered for a while to enjoy them and had a few refreshments. The cache was a quick find - signed log, TFTC!
Yeesss!!!!. Another FTF!!!!.
Although it's a miserable day, I am really enjoying this hike. It was quite foggy when I arrived here put I could see some peaks in the distance.
