Our middle geokid and I are heading away for a few nights camping. Tonight, we plan to camp at Lake Cargelligo before heading up to Lightning Ridge and then meeting up with the Father in Law at Carinda. A warm day on the road, but after all the rain yesterday, lots of wildlife was spotted. Turtles (we saved one from the middle of the road) snakes and lots of different types of lizards. No luck here, gave it a good 20 mins - had to leave it. Maybe another day.
On the way home from 2 weeks away at Cliffhanger 4wd Event and the clutch on the truck gave up the ghost, si what do you do when you are broken down 1000km from home? Get a hire car and go do some cachesNice easy find tftc

Today started with a walk along Molonglo Gorge to some of the upstream caches with Fitzy_1965, MinnieK & Isopeda. There is a great trail to follow, but it is far above some of the caches. There were two caches to get as we headed out along the descent track back to the main gate. After this walk, I packed up my car for a two day drive out to Griffiths and back. Tonight I ended up just North of Narrandera in a stock Reserve. It is interesting to see how it has dried up out west, but with huge amount of growth in the old growth areas.
Just on dark I pulled in here and started poking around the old car. I should have looked in the hide spot first, not after sneaky Tankengine spots. A great area, and I camped the night less than 100m away.
Thanks for the cache hoogs

Cool old falcon. My earliest memory of family car was this model station wagon in pink. Easy find.
Third attempt at finding this one after weather and lack of daylight beat us in the past. TNLN TFTC
Started walking and kept walking .thought I was wasting my time, to hen I seen the car. Cache is in good condition I saw a fox and later a rabbit on way out of the bush.
Picked up Roostaman and headed west of Wagga to clean up yet another area close to home.
A good variety of hides were found, and all in good condition.
Thanks to all the CO's - we had a good day out.
Many thanks for placing this cache, hoogs, for us and others to find.

Ok, this one caused some concern. Firstly, it seems to be on private land, but I suppose it could be a TSR. Secondly, it was a fair hike from the road and a thunderstorm was rolling in. I had to hightail it across to the cache, getting through a couple of fences on the way., before the rain came down. I’m sure there must be an easier track but I just took the beeline to stay as dry as possible. Failed! Got pretty wet returning to the car, but it was worth the effort.

With a RDO and nice weather, as well as a possible FTF I decided on making the trip out to Narrandera via some back roads to collect some caches that I hadn’t found yet. I attempted 5 caches and collected 5 to add to my total. My first cache of the day was located at Berembed Weir. I have been looking for many months to find the entry point to this cache and after failing to find it while at home, I decided that I should just go out there to find the way in. This ended up being the better way of doing it. The entry point coordinates are S34 50.307 E146 50.610. After finding the camping area, I parked the car and headed in to find the cache. When I arrived at GZ, I was greeted with a cache container in great shape. I also discovered that this cache was 2.5 years unloved and I also took quite a few photos as well. Now time to head to lunch, which ended up being Subway. TFTC! After lunch I attempted to collect the FTF. Umm… ok, I know where it is hiding but I felt very uncomfortable with the location. Timing was everything but I think someone spotted me as a few cop cars drove past as I was sign the log sheet up the road. Yes, it was a FTF as Nibletricecakes was there at time of placing. I wasn’t going to sign it at GZ in case I did get spotted out. I returned and replaced the cache and again timing was everything. I left GZ, in a hurry with this question on my mind, ‘how long is it going to last? TFTC and now onto the three cache along the trip home. The first of these three was ‘coolah view’ which was a nice quick find at GZ. This one was must have been placed before the rule change as it was a glass jar instead of a plastic container. TFTC and onto the second of three caches. This next one was called ‘mejum view’. Another nice quick find here and TFTC. Now onto my last find of the day. ‘Dam Car’ Yes there is a dam and there also is a car. This car has seen better days but as for the cache it was a quick find in a clever spot to hide a cache. Now time to head home. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found and for allowing them to bring joy to me and the rest of the caching community! TFTC’s
Found during an epic long weekend of quality caching around the Riverina with fitzy_1965. Lots of km's covered including some fun wheeling in the beautiful countryside meant for a thoroughly enjoyable trip
Well this one was a cool adventure! Made our way in following one of the tracks. Wandered over and then it was on with the search where I found the cache in a logical storage spot. Pity that doesn't shut! Great to get nearly three years unloved on this one as well! Cache and contents are pristine!
Thanks for the hide, hoogs Fave for sure!

18,521. Found during a meander west of Wagga with specimenX.
Day 2 of our trip trying to go for crossing off previous DNFs and for harder/longer to get caches deep in forests and reserves. This was a short but fun drive in to GZ. Took a few minutes but then specimenX came up with the prize. Another nearly 3 years unloved collected - cool !
Thanks hoogs !!

Dam car lol I had trouble finding this one did not even think to look in that spot.
Very quiet says the description. Lots and lots of cattle so they make a bit of noise as I was walking quietly through the lovely open forest to the car. When I arrived at this ancient wreck I was overthinking it and loath to put my unprotected hand into such dark and spidery places, lr to use too much force to seek. Eventually resorted to PAF only to find it before they could find the required info On the way back found the cattle owners had rounded up the cattle into the dam area which is why the cows were noisier early on. Wasn't sure if I should even have been there, but got a wave from the men so assumed all ok TFTC hoogs
Me first stop for the new caching day
So I parked abeam the cache on the road and strolled in
First I found .... the Dam
No cows in the forest at the moment !!
So no fresh stuff to step in [:o)]
Second I found .... the Car
And after a quick search of the vehicle,
I found no cows in there either [:o)]
I did find a cache in the place where that fifth elephant normally hides
Speaking of elephants, it looks like the car was rear-ended by one [:o]

# 11281 Found on another perfect sunny day trip with Fred6603.
We had a fine day roaming around out west and finding caches.
Very quiet today, as always probably. Nice safe hide too.
Thanks for the cache hoogs,

Found at 9:54:00 AM on a trip West of Wagga with Roostaman. Good easy access today with dry roads. The poor old car has seen better days.
Thanks hoogs

3795. A nice drive in the bush on a warm afternoon and ventured in to find a car. I thought I might be searching for a while, but the container soon showed up.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
[:(!] Went for a morning caching run and this was one of them, parked the geocar as close as possible to GZ and walked in from there, on arrival at GZ the cache was located and it was in hand in a matter of minutes.

This was a great geo. Thanks Hoogs. A quick find and then we had a bbq in the scrub.
3374. Found by baby&Mrs gopher at 1640. On our way back from Griffith so a detour was in order. The afternoon had begun to draw in and the shadows were getting long by the time we got to the dam. Parked at the roadside and walked the 300 metres to gz. What a surprise there is more uses for a FORD other then fix or repair daily. The cache container is in very good condition and weathering it's life in the bush very well.A favourite point from us. SL Tnx hoogs
Found on what seems like is becoming a regular road trip between Gold Coast and Tocumwal. We headed South to visit family for Christmas, being my Daughter and her new Daughter (my Grand Daughter) Sienna. The trip was done over two days, staying overnight in Coonabarabran. Six kids and two cars, visited and found 19 caches on the way down. Some very hot weather on the second day, with the thermometer topping 43°C about midway through the second day, hot weather for caching. Thanks to all cache owners for hiding and maintaining their caches.

Took a detour to find a couple, these looked good. Was able to drive almost right up to this one, and after a bit of looking, found a unique cache. Fav for the location here. TFTC.

I rushed out there this morning with geo-wife after seeing that there were no logs registered against Dam Car. So in order get a FTF, off we went. I took several wrong tracks in getting there, finally found the site, found the cache - only to find Murf had beaten me to it by 8 days. Blast!! Thanks anyway Hoogs, it was a lovely drive.
*FTF* Sorry for the previous cryptic log... I hadn't been caching for a while, and my phone app had changed significantly, which meant it uploaded a log that I wasn't expecting...
I was making quick trip to Wagga, so I detoured a little to try a few of the new caches in the area... I found the entry point easily enough, and drove to a nice parking place. A short walk later revealed the GZ, and a bit of a search found it in a likely spot. A nice hide. There was already a comment in the log book, but I couldn't quite understand what it was saying... There's been no other logs, I'm assuming I was FTF...
Thanks for the detour!
Cheers,
Murf.
