#807On a roadtrip to Melbourne. Stayed the night in town. Looked for a while in the wrong place. After checking the hint and scratching our heads for a bit, then walked to the other side of the building, and the cache became very obvious. Dropped off two TBs. What a great cache! TFTC!

07-Jul-24
Found thanks to my muggle wife. She liked this one as it didn't involve foraging. I was on the wrong side of the building! Thanks.

25-May-24
Found something that matched the hint but it needed a key. We actually found a key! However, it didn't work. Replaced key as it had nothing to do with GC, oops. Scratched our heads, wandered around and then found the right location. Nice.TFTC Hmmm3683

We were traveling to Wagga Wagga with Geoturtle37 & Papi4506 and decided to call into Chiltern to have some lunch. We then came back to this cache for what is probably our fourth visit. We were still having no luck working out what we needed to do and noticed that the GPS was pointing in a slightly different location so we headed to there where again we searched for far longer than we had to before noticing something out of the ordinary and not long after that we were adding our name to the log and then returned everything as it was. Many thanks Molmat for the cache, a favourite point from us.

23-Apr-24
This one took some time in between searching and dodging muggles. We fixed on one location, but that drew no rewards, and it was only after expanding the search that the penny dropped. Afraid we were slower than Australia Post today!A great idea for a cache and good execution. A favourite from us.Another trip to Tumut to catch up with family and collect some of our grandchildren who will be visiting for the New South Wales school holidays. We can never resist the opportunity to do some caching in our travels and this trip was no different. We focused on a few areas in and managed to complete a number of Ad Labs as well as traditionals, multis and puzzles. A couple of Virtuals in Wangaratta were an added bonus. We always enjoy searching with our grandchildren who managed to find a number before we did.Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Hmmm3683.**SKI Pair****

When we saw how many favourite points this cache had, we made a detour on our way to the Canberra mega. Such a beautiful little town and a great cache. FP from us Smile

28-Mar-24
We were not quite sure what to expect here, but the high favourite point count and the fact we hail from near the Chilterns in the UK meant we came for a 'look see' on a hot, quiet, Maundy Thursday afternoon. We could see by the layout as soon as we entered town that this was an old gold prospecting location. The boards at the Post Office confirmed this. We wandered around for a bit, had an idea, followed it up, had a rethink and there it was! Nicely done. Thanks for bringing us here and for setting and maintaining the cache.

26-Mar-24

A quick stop in this lovely town and was able to find this interesting cache .. a perfect placement.. thanks Hmmm3683 for placing the cache

18-Mar-24
The Adelaide Leap Day Mega and Canberra Geobash gave us a great excuse for a road trip. This trip has shown us so many new and interesting places as weve chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites.Meeting up with friends old and new along the way, we sometimes cached together and sometimes alone but always had a great time. Today made our way slowly closer to Canberra, just stopping a few times along the way to find some caches and stretch our legs. It was interesting to read the nearby information panels before heading over to GZ where the cache was quickly spotted. Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache and adding to our enjoyment.

Got a nudge from a friendly local - thanks to them it was a quick find. Clearly we were not the first cacher theyve seen doing the typical cacher wander around GZ. All good with the logbook and duly signed. Having been to Chiltern on several occasions and, not doing much caching, we decided to remedy this and the Post Office one had so many favourite points that there was no doubt that we were going to log a smilie on this one. Had a lot of difficulty locating the cache so, hubby went inside to get a hint. DOH!!! How did we miss it????A favourite point from us.TFTC

03-Jan-24

21-Jul-23
At the PO there were a few people coming and going so we tried to be inconspicuous but we were spotted by someone from the post office. She actually pointed us in the right direction as the coordinates were a little out. We initially missed the hide but then everything became clear. Nicely done and worth a favourite point. Thanks to MolMat for the cache.

15-Jul-23
Found with PapaGrouch on a caching trip to Chiltern. The coordinates on this one are definitely out, it is the other side of the building. Once around there it didn't take too long to spot the clever hide using the hint. An interesting way of hiding a cache. TFTC

Hello Hmmm3683 thank you for the cache

I tried the suggested box without any luck so I asked the post master.
He explained he rearranged the boxes so it is now on the other side of the building.
As I retrieved the cache a local retrieving her mail asked if I had found the other caches in the area.

This was one of many caches found on our way to Newcastle to see our grand children.

Found on Tuesday, 09 May 2023 at 1050

After a wonderful week in Rutherglen, today was the day we wwere checking out and it looked like Rutherglen was sad we were leaving as it started crying from about 5am onwards! (Raining) Packing the car was fun!! We headed off to get the last point of an adlab we had done the nght before and the rain started easing a bit so we decided to do the other art adlab and collect a couple more caches on the way. After a lovely morning tea in Rutherglen we set off for Chiltern to find a cache or 2 on the way home. This was a cool cache. The co-ords put us on the other side and part of the description matched there too so we were barking up the wrong tree for a bit till we decided to extend the search then found the right place immediately. In reading some logs on this cache now, we see the locals are happy with the extra business that the Mega brought in! Excellent!!
TFTC MolMat, a nice one for our last day

12-Apr-23
TFTC Thank you for hiding this cache. You have shown us a new place and have helped make geocaching an enjoyable activity. Truly a unique cache.

Had to go in and chat to the people inside as I love old buildings, what a beautiful building it is. So glad I did,he commented on how well the local businesses have done out of the Mega event. Hopefully these events help keep small towns alive. A FP from me

The JAMS team (JJ52 allister w, mogni and sir_spectre) were on a road trip heading to the Rutherglen Mega event (staying in Corowa) for 3 days then winding our way home via Albury, Wangaratta, Bendigo and various other places in between. It was a great week with many more caches found than we expected. There were targeted caches, challenge caches, Ad Labs, events and various others to fulfill various statistics for the four of us. We were lucky with the weather, it rained a bit on our way over on Friday, then half a day after we left Wangaratta but on the whole it was great caching weather. We did drive a few slippery muddy roads, but nothing too bad. We also caught up with lots of people either at events or out in the field and enjoyed many great chats. All in all a fun time with lots of Victoria explored and then very tired when I arrived home. [^]Big Grin

We had left our accommodation and had headed out of Rutherglen, on a round about route to our overnight accommodation in Wangaratta stopping for a few caches along the way and another LGA that we all needed. Big Grin

We started looking in the wrong place at first, but soon widened our search and spotted the hide. Very cool. CoolBig Grin

Thanks for the cache MolMat a favourite for me. Smile

10-Apr-23
After an extended search and a restart of my phone the offending article was eventually found. A very clever piece of work. As per a previous log you need to be on the right side. Another favourite point for your collection. TFTC.

10-Apr-23

10-Apr-23
Bunadoorian and I decided to come for a drive to find somewhere for morning tea. We ended up here in Chiltern. Well this cache had us looking all around - but with a hint from a previous log we found this cache. Another favourite point from me. TFTC and for bringing us here MolMat.

10-Apr-23
Well it is finally time for The Rutherglen Mega and I was able to take a couple of extra days off work and come up early so I could get the most out of the Easter break.
After 5 big days and evenings the Mega is over for me and it also has all been all packed up.
I’m heading home today so I packed up most of the caravan then headed over to Chiltern early in the morning as I wanted to get over 100 Ad lab waypoints for the Mega.
I picked up a few Trads and Multi’s as well.
It must be early as Chiltern was pretty much deserted this morning.
I had not mail to post but I did have a cache to pickup from the post office.

This one definitely deserves a favourite.

Thanks MolMat TFTC.

The JAMS (JJ52, allister w, mogni and sir_spectre) go mega... We came, we cached, we laughed, we hugged and we had a great time. All caches were replaced better than found.
Thanks to Hmmm3683 from mogni

10-Apr-23
well the co ords had us on the wrong side of the building. After a short i changed side of the building and the hint then made sense. Nice cammo. fav point.
Found with JAMS (( JJ52, Allister w, Mogni, plus sir_spectre ) Mitchell&hound wasn't with us this trip) crew. All logs stamped as JAMS to save log space. This trip we are off to the Rutherglen Mega and then slowly coming back to S.A. for a total of 8 dys and 7 nights. The targets of this trip are for JJ52 to get 11 more multi to get to 1000 multi's and a few more Victorian LGA's, Allister W was targeting 17 virtuals ( or as many as he could get ) a few more Victorian LGA's Mogni to make the Rutherglen Mega her 20, 000 find and also for her to complete all Victoria LGA's, sir_spectre needs 1 more multi to get to 1000 multi's and get his Victoria LGS's down to 2 LGA's left. We got 20 or more finds in a LGA if we stayed in there over night. We also detoured to stamp any challenge caches that we were " in the general area off " and to complete that challenge before we came back to S.A. This meant that some times dirt road (s) had to be walked down because they were to wet to drive down and/or haven't been repaired since last years flooding. We started off the holiday in the rain and then that cleared up only to start raining and a overnight thunder storm but most of the trip was dry. Over 600 caches found for the trip including over 120 lab stages in that total. Got to complete the GPS Maze at the Rutherglen Mega for a 2nd time. Allister w was the team driver for all of the Victorian part of the trip. I think this was the first trip ever to Victoria that the extension pole didn't get used but the 6.2 meter ladder did get a work out.

09-Apr-23
Our last full day at the Rutherglen Mega - Tankengine, Mtrax, Youban and I had a great long weekend. Nothing is more fun than going to a new place and caching with all our caching friends. The Mega and events were great and Rutherglen and the surrounding areas have so much to offer.

This cache: A great idea for a cache spot. Lucky to be able to have something like this. Tftc!!!

09-Apr-23
This one had me tricked for a while but eventually I saw the light.... or should that be saw the cache. Worthy of a favourite from me.

Rutherglen Mega - Easter 2023 - Day 3: Sunday

After finishing up the FTF EXP series, we found ourselves reasonably close to Chiltern. Bonfire7, Loci612 and I decided to drop in and explore the little town.

Wow! What a clever hide here. Certainly deserving of a Favourite Point!

09-Apr-23
Took a little hunting. Had to read previous posts about coordinates being on the wrong side. TFTC. Left trackable.
